James D. McConville, 80, of Pine Run

James D. McConville, of Pine Run, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at Sylvia's House.

Born in Red Lodge, Mont., he moved to Ocala in 1983 from Pottstown, Pa. He was 80.

Mr. McConville was a general production manager for 27 years with Mrs. Smith's Pie Company.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary; daughter, Donna Jeanne Adair of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Margaret M. Ruddock of Indiana, Pa., and brother, Richard J. McConville, Ocala.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Marion County.

Kenneth E. O'Dell Sr., 64, of Pine Run

Kenneth E. O'Dell, Sr., of Pine Run, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at his mother's residence in Garnerville, N.Y.

A native of Cornwall, N.Y., he resided in Ocala since 1998, formerly of Poughquag, N.Y. He was 64.

Mr. O'Dell was employed with Cypress Trucking Lines, Inc., of Jacksonville.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce E. O'Dell.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joan M.; sons, Kevin, Kenneth E. Jr., both of Pleasant Valley, N.Y.; daughter, Stephanie J. Ballard of South Beloit, Ill.; mother, Mary, of Garnerville, N.Y.

Also, brothers, Howard of Prompton, Pa., Allan of Homesdale, Pa.; sister, Kathleen Jukich of Kalispell, Mont.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to United Hospice of Rockland, Inc., 11 Stokum Lane, New City, N.Y. 10956.

Michael J. Higgins Funeral Services Inc. handled the arrangements.

Aubrey Campbell, 79

Aubrey Major Campbell, 79, of Ocala, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Ocala Regional Medical Center. He was born in Canada and lived in Yankeetown for 25 years before moving to Ocala in May 2003.

Mr. Campbell was a retired chef. He was an avid NASCAR fan and model plane builder. He was Presbyterian.

Survivors include his daughter, Simone Heckathorn of Ocala; one granddaughter, and three great-grandchildren.

Conrad F. Huber, 83

Conrad Franklin Huber, 83, of Dunnellon, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003. A native of Coatesville, Ind., he moved here in 1972 from Indiana.

Mr. Huber was a retired stone mason. He was Methodist.

Survivors include his daughter, Linda Maggard of Delta Junction, Alaska; sons, Irvin Huber of Fillmore, Ind., and Danny Huber of Bainbridge, Ind.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Lucille Hughes, 89

Lucille Hughes, 89, of Dunnellon, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Avante at Inverness Care Center. Born Jun 21, 1914 in New Providence, Iowa, to Dalton and Christine Gibbs, she moved here in 1998 from Myrtle Point, Ore.

Mrs. Hughes was a Quaker.

She was preceded in death by parents; husband B.C. Hughes, and two sisters, Pauline Wikerson and Frances Chase.

Survivors include a son, Billy Hughes of Dunnellon, and brother, Cecil Gibbs of Leesburg.

Dorise I. Kapitzke, 77

Dorise Irene Kapitzke, 77, of Dunnellon, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, in Ocala. A native of Waupaca, Wis., she moved here in 1989 from Hilbert, Wis.

Mrs. Kapitzke was a retired telephone operator. She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Wells River Post 5 and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was Protestant.

She is survived by her husband Gary E. Kapitzke of Dunnellon.

Sharon Lawnzak, 63

Sharon Ann Lawnzak, 63, of Dunnellon, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, in Ocala. Born in Ottawa, Ohio, she moved here in 1998 from Columbus Grove, Ohio.

Mrs. Lawnzak was a registered nurse and a member of the Retired Nurses Association.

Survivors include her husband Donald; daughter, Lori Ann Fawcett of Elida, Ohio; brother, Robert Roof Jr. of Ottawa, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Julia Pironti, 78

Julia Pironti, 78, of Citrus Springs, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala. A native of Queens, N.Y., she moved here 30 years ago from South Ozone Park, N.Y.

Mrs. Pironti was a volunteer with the American Red Cross well into her retirement and was present with the Red Cross at Ground Zero in New York after 9/11/01. She also volunteered with the Dunnellon Fire Department, serving with the paramedic division.

She was Roman Catholic, attending Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Citrus Springs. She was also a member of the Moose and Elk Lodges of Dunnellon.

She was preceded in death by a son, William H. Klepp.

Survivors include a son, Art Klepp of Snellville, Ga.; brother, Mike Chugkowski of Massapequa, L.I., N.Y.; three grandchildren, Buck, Nick and Jordan Buchanan-Klepp; one great-grandchild; one niece and one nephew; four grand nieces and one grand nephew.

J. Franklin Spikes Jr., 75

J. Franklin Spikes Jr., 75, of Yankeetown, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville. Born Dec. 30, 1927 to Jefferson Franklin Sr. and Pearl (Nicholson) Spikes in Montgomery, Ala., he came here 16 years ago from Columbus, Ga.

Mr. Spikes was a retired owner/operator of the Spikes-Mitchell Tire and Marine in Columbus, Ga. for 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard; a 32nd degree Mason; a member of the Masonic Columbian Lodge 7 in Columbus, Ga.; and the Al Siah Shrine Temple in Macon, Ga.

He attended the University of Georgia at Columbus. He was a member of the Red Level Baptist Church in Red Level and a member of its board of trustees.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Bettie; two sons, J. Franklin "Chip" Spikes III and his wife Jenny of Newman, Ga., and Andrew Phillip Spikes and his wife Sheila of Columbus, Ga.; two daughters, Carol Leverett and husband Jim of Flower Mound, Texas, and Anne Wright and husband Jack of Columbus, Ga.; brother, James Spikes and wife Beverly of St. Petersburg; two sisters, Gloria Mitchell and Barbara Sivo and husband Bobby, all of New Port Richey; and nine grandchildren.

Gennifer Wilson, 48

Gennifer "Genny" Darlene (Hamm) Wilson succumbed to breast cancer Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Richard Endress. She was cared for by her siblings, children and other family members, along with the Marion County Hospice. She was born Nov. 22, 1954, in Citrus County, the eighth of nine children, but resided in Jacksonville.

Her career was in the life and health insurance industry as an administrative specialist. She joined Gulf Life Insurance Company in the early 1980s and continued her career with Alta Health & Life, a division of Great-West Life Insurance Company. The last 10 years of her career was spent assisting the state of Florida government employees with their hospital supplemental plan.

As she battled with her cancer the past five years, her concern was always for her family and others. She will be missed by all who knew her and by those whose lives she touched. She wrote her memoirs, and had the book ready as her final earthly gift to each of them. After her family, singing was her passion. She also was passionate about Bible study, enjoyed gardening and walking in the woods. She was a country girl at heart.

Survivors include one daughter, Dawn Tasha Williams (Jason) of Jacksonville; two sons, Brian T. Lewis of Jacksonville and David J. Wilson of Deerlodge, Tenn.; five sisters, Margaret Endress of Dunnellon, Jannette Abrams of Dunnellon, Yulee Commander of Crystal River, Lynda Black of Deerlodge, Tenn., and Cynthia Retter of Deerlodge, Tenn.; three brothers, Thomas Hamm of Bristol, Jerry Hamm of Deerlodge, Tenn., and Dennis Hamm of Floral City; and two grandchildren.

A service of remembrance for Gennifer Darlene Wilson will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville in the Ruth Lindsey Auditorium, 124 W. Ashley St., Jacksonville. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment and graveside ceremony will be at 4:30 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Marion County. By Genny's request, those who wish may make contributions to the Breast Cancer Foundation or the Hospice Foundation of their choice. Services are under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home, Dunnellon. Call 352-(352) 489-2429.
