Paul Wilcox Jr., 80 Beverly Hills

Paul John Wilcox Jr., 80, Beverly Hills, died at his home Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003.

Born Oct. 21, 1923, in Bloomington, Ill., to Paul John Sr. and Frances (Halencamp) Wilcox, he moved here 17 years ago from Easton, Mass.

Mr. Wilcox was a retired refrigeration technician for Fernandes Super Market of Noton, Mass., and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church of Beverly Hills.

Survivors include wife of 58 years, Rachel A. (Sampson) Wilcox of Beverly Hills; three sons, Douglas Wilcox and wife, Nichelle, of Brockton, Mass., Aaron Wilcox of Inverness and Paul J. Wilcox III of Homosassa; four daughters, Frances Matheson and husband, Chester, of Waxhaw, S.C., Cynthia Roberts of Huntington, Mass., Joyce Thorne of Bridgewater, Mass., and Martha Garcia and husband, Richard, of Raynham, Mass.; brother, Myron Wilcox of Moscow, Idaho; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Alfonso Arevalo, 77

Alfonso Arevalo, 77, of Dunnellon, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center in Crystal River. A native of Colombia, South America, he moved to the United States in 1964 and for the next nine years lived in New York, Chicago and Puerto Rico.

In 1973 Mr. Arevalo moved to Dunnellon and established Al's TV Antenna and Satellite Shop and remained its owner and operator for the next 30 years. He was Roman Catholic.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ligia; two sons, Andy Arevalo of Dunnellon and Luis Arevalo of Falmouth, Ky.; three daughters, Martha Byrd of Pensacola, Gladys O'Donnell of Citrus Springs and Maria Arevalo of Homosassa; one brother, Leopoldo Arevalo of Los Angeles, Calif.; five sisters, Inez, Leonor, Limbania, Trinidad and Ligia Arevalo, all of Colombia; and 10 grandchildren.

Ruth Beals, 85

Ruth Beals, 85, of Dunnellon, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, in Dunnellon. Born in Jasper, she moved here from Clearwater in 1982.

Mrs. Beals was a homemaker, member of the First Christian Church of Largo and past president of the Pythian Sisters, Clearwater Temple No. 32. She was Protestant.

Survivors include two sons, George Thomas Beals of Texas and Reuben Beals of Brooksville; daughter, Evelyn Brannen of Dunnellon; brother, Elmer Eugene Willis of Dunnellon; sister, June Smith of Dunnellon; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Karl C. Burrus, 89

Karl C. Burrus, 89, of Dunnellon, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, in Ocala. Born in Assumption, Ill, he moved to Beverly Hills in 1977 from Englewood, Ohio.

Mr. Burrus was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the West Carrollton Masonic Lodge #737 and AF & AM of Dayton, Ohio. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Dunnellon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris J. Burrus in 1999.

Survivors include his sons, Danny Burrus of Washburn, Tenn., Michael Wahl of Thornhill, Tenn., and Karl Burrus of Jasper, Ala.; daughters, Belinda Bleam of Ocala, and Patricia Kuzuianakis of Dayton, Ohio; and brother, Dwight Burrus of Assumption, Ill.

Virginia M. Frechette, 86

Virginia M. Frechette, 86, of Dunnellon, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at home. She was born in Providence, R.I.

Mrs. Frechette was a homemaker and Roman Catholic.

Survivors include her son, Robert Frechette of New Orleans; daughters, Ann Frechette of West Orange, N.J., and Michele Carrigan of Dunnellon; brothers, Frank Warren of Largo; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Frank R. Gutenkunst, 49

Frank R. Gutenkunst, 49, of Dunnellon, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Legacy House in Ocala. A native of Fort Walton, Florida, he moved here from Fort Lauderdale 17 years ago and had also lived in Michigan for many years.

Mr. Gutenkunst was an employee of Skyline Mobile Homes in Ocala and had previously worked in CAD imaging for the former Mark III Conversion Vans in Ocala. He was also a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon.

Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Joyce; daughters Andrea J. and Alyssa B. Gutenkunst, both of Dunnellon; brothers, Steven and wife Constance of Fair Haven, Mich., John and wife Laura of Almont, Mich. and Michael and wife Sheryl of South Lyon, Mich.; sister Julie Dumon of St. Claire Shores of Michigan; parents Henry and Jacqueline Gutenkunst of Almont, Mich.; maternal grandmother Eva Gerhardt of Dunnellon, as well as aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Dr. George P. Koeck, 95, of Oak Run

Dr. George Paul Koeck, Director Emeritus, 95, of Oak Run, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at TimberRidge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Ocala. A native of Orange, N.J., he has resided in the Ocala area since 1993, formerly of Hillsboro Beach, Fla. He was 95.

Dr. Koeck was a retired medical director with the Presbyterian Hospitals of Newark, N.J. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church Ocala; Essex County Country Club-West Orange, N.J.; Royal Oaks Country Club of Ocala; Skytop Club of Skytop, Pa.; U.S. Golf Association. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving on Midway Island.

Dr. Koeck was a life member of the A.M.A. and the Radiological Society of North America; he received the Bronze Medal from the American Cancer Society for his contribution toward the treatment and cure of cancer.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Kathryn Koeck of Ocala; and two sons, William J. Koeck of Simpsonville, S.C., and George P. Koeck of Trenton, N.J.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Marion County.

Audrey J. Myers, 81, of Ocala

Audrey June Myers, 81, of Ocala, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at West Marion Community Hospital in Ocala. A native of Shoals, Ind., she came here in 1985 from Tennessee. She was 81.

Mrs. Myers retired from Lilly Pharmaceutical Company, She was a member of the Congregational Church and was a library worker in Dunnellon.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Charles R.; daughter, Sharon Williams of Indianapolis; sons, Douglas, Geffery and Gregory Sanders, all of Indianapolis, and Terry Myers of Lake Wales; sister, Wanda Clayes of Lawrence, Kansas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bradeing Sanders Jr.

Gloria E. Russo, 78, of Ocala

Gloria E. Russo, of Ocala, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at her residence. A native of Babylon, N.Y., she came here in 1988 from Ronkonkoma, N.Y. She was 78.

Mrs. Russo was a homemaker. She was Presbyterian, liked interior decorating, an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Gerard E. Russo of Ocala and a daughter, Melissa J. Russo of Bellmore, N.Y.

Donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County.

Kermit C. Taylor, 93, of Ocala

Kermit C. Taylor, of Ocala, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in Ocala. A native of Baxley, Ga., he came here in 1975 from Miami. He was 93.

Mr. Taylor was a bus driver for the city of Miami Beach. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the Combat Engineers.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Taylor, of Ocala.

Catherine W. Walters, 71, of Ocala

Catherine W. "Kaye" Walters, of Ocala, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at her residence. A native of Elizabeth, N.J., she came here in 1986 from Cliffwood Beach, N.J. She was 71.

Mrs. Walters was a homemaker. She was an avid bingo player, bowler and loved to travel and read.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Matthew J. "Matt" Walters of Ocala; daughter, Lorraine W. Metz of Parlin, N.J.; sister, Trudy Hero of Linden, N.J.; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Walters.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Munroe Regional Medical Center Foundation.

Rose Mary Taylor, 85, of Dunnellon

Rose Mary Taylor, of Dunnellon, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, in Ocala. A native of Pillares, Mexico, she came here in 2001 from Doughlasville, Ga. She was 85.

Mrs. Taylor worked in the food service industry. She was a member of Dunnellon Seventh Day Adventist.

Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Bates of Dunnellon, and a granddaughter, Tina Heinlein of Doughlasville, Ga.

Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon handled the arrangements.
