Christian W. Singer, 91, of Dunnellon

Christian W. Singer, of Dunnellon, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Lecanto. A native of Philadelphia, Pa., he came here in 1980 from there. He was 91.

Mr. Singer was a stationary engineer employed by the Philadelphia Public Schools.

He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church in Citrus Springs; a member of the Masonic Lodge 406 in Frankford Philadelphia, Pa., 32nd degree Mason, Philadelphia Broad Street Temple; member of American Legion Post 56 in Dunnellon and member of the Citrus Springs Lions Club. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, having served during World War II.

Mr. Singer is survived by his stepson, John J. Joyce (Jeanette) of Crystal River.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Singer.

Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon, handled the arrangements.

Jane O. Gauss, 80, of OTOW

Jane O. Gauss, of OTOW, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at West Marion Community Hospital, Ocala. A native of Iron County, Mich., she was a winter resident of Hastings, Mich. She was 80.

Mrs. Gauss was a retired teacher with the Gulf Lake Community School of Richland, Mich. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, David B.; two daughters, Mary Vliek of Hickory Corners, Mich., and Ann Buchanan of Wellston, Mich.; son, David Gauss III of Hudsonville, Mich.; four sisters, Julie O. Pavlak and Mary Janet Flaitz, both of Ocala, Catherine Hamilton of Iron River, Mich., and Lois Mason of Corvallis, Ore.; and four grandchildren.

Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, TimberRidge, handled the arrangements.

Noel C. Holt, 66, of Ocala

Noel C. Holt, of Ocala, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala.

A native of Pratt, W.Va., he moved here last year from Sebring where he had retired after serving as a Fort Lauderdale Middle School teacher for 35 years. He was 66.

Mr. Holt was honored as Broward County's Teacher of the Year in 1993.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include his son, Donald Michael Holt of Dunnellon; daughter, Bettie Lynn Pray of Windsor, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Kirsten Michelle Holt and Robert Noel Heckman.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mary Catherine Holt.

James 'Jim' Corkery, 86 Crystal River

James "Jim" L. Corkery, 86, Crystal River, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at his daughter's home under the care of his daughter and Hospice of Citrus County.

He was born Feb. 18, 1918, in Brighton, Mass., to John and Victoria (Meshlowsky) Corkery. He came to Crystal River on Aug. 29, 2003.

He was the founder and president of Waltham Ultrasonic Machine and Tool Co. Inc. of Waltham, Mass.

He was a member of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Catholic Church in Waltham for 51 years. He was a member of St. Scholastica Parish for the past year. He loved history, traveling, crossword puzzles and people.

His wife of 56 years, Isabelle (Teichmann) Corkery, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his two daughters, Patricia Corkery of Crystal River and Barbara Casey of Wareham, Mass.; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.

Anthony Head, 72 Dunnellon

Anthony Head, 72, Dunnellon, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, in Dunnellon.

He was born in Great Yarmouth, England. He moved to the area in 1991 from Phoenix, Ariz.

He was an aerospace design engineer at the Goodyear Aerospace Program.

He was Episcopal.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen Head of Dunnellon, and two daughters Debra Head and Dianne Head, both of Dunnellon.

Brenda LaPerle, 54 Hernando

Brenda LaPerle, 54, Hernando, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at her home in Inverness under the care of her family and Hospice.

She was born Sept. 20, 1949, in Ocala to William H. and Melvina Ogle Jr. She was a lifelong resident of Citrus County.

She and her husband, David, owned and operated LaPerle Memorials, D&B; Enterprises and Perle Crane Services.

She was a graduate of Citrus High School and attended Central Florida Community College.

She was a member of Xi Epsilon Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a director and longtime member of the Citrus County Fair Association Board of Directors, and chaired several committees.

Her mother, Melvina Ogle, preceeded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, David R. LaPerle; son, Travis LaPerle of Hernando; daughter, Dawn Crawley and her husband, John, of Hernando; brother, W.H. "Billy" Ogle III and his wife, JoAnn, of Hernando; father, W.H. Ogle Jr. of Hernando; her mother-in-law, Olive LaPerle of Inverness; and two grandchildren.

William Manion, 79 Inverness

William E. Manion, 79, Inverness, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, in Inverness.

He was born Nov. 19, 1924, in Long Beach, Calif., to William and Susan Manion. He moved to the area in 1984 from Gaithersburg, Md.

He was an accountant for the U.S. Government.

He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte H. Manion of Inverness; son, Michael W. Manion of Westminster, Md.; daughter, Maureen Manion of Tampa; brother, Donald R. Manion of Bellevue, Ky.; and six grandchildren.

Lee Dale Arthur, 63

Lee Dale Arthur, 63, of Inglis, died on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at his home under the loving care of his family. He was born in Stab, Ky., on Oct. 14, 1940, to Rayford Lee and Donna (Taylor) Arthur. He was a lifelong resident of Inglis.

Mr. Arthur was a retired carpenter and was of the Baptist faith. He was a Korean Conflict Navy veteran.

Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Mary Arthur; sons, Randy Arthur of Indianapolis, Ind., Scott Arthur of Nashville, Tenn.; daughters, Donna Arthur of Old Town, Fla., Lisa Arthur Geese of Georgia; stepson, Ernest Wilkerson of Bronson, Fla.; stepdaughters Alma Lee Wilkerson of Brooksville, Wanda Louise Wilkerson of Bronson; two brothers-in-law, Lester Green of Inglis; Jack Green of Homosassa; one sister, Margie Southerland of Indianapolis, Ind.; sister-in-law, Gracie Hale of Homosassa; seven grandsons; three granddaughters and two great granddaughters.

Benjamin Baldino III, 54

Benjamin D. Baldino III, 54, of Dunnellon, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, in Crystal River. He was born Oct. 30, 1929, in Cold Spring, N.Y., to Benjamin and Marie Baldino and moved here in 1999 from Garrison, N.Y.

Mr. Baldino retired from the VA Hospital as a painter. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was a member of VFW Post 391, Putnum Valley, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife, Diane M.; three daughters, Erica M. Baldino of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Kimberlee M. Baldino and Lindsay M. Baldino, both of Dunnellon; two brothers, Wayne (Pam) Baldino of Mesa, Ariz., and Mark (Kathy) Baldino of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; and one sister, Rose Marie (Edward) Cretelli of Cold Spring, N.Y.

Christopher DePrima Jr., 75

Christopher DePrima Jr., 75, of Dunnellon, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at his residence. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here nearly eight years ago from Seaford, L.I., N.Y.

Mr. DePrima was a retired self-employed securities consultant. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran from 1946 to 1947 and was Roman Catholic.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Anna DePrima; sons, Christopher DePrima III of Massapequa, N.Y., and Salvatore DePrima of Ocala; daughters, Antoinette Riebling of Lindenhurst, L.I., N.Y., and Annamaria DePrima of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Bryan, Diana and Lisa Marle DePrima, all of Massapequa, N.Y.
