William Jones III
FLAGLER BEACH -- William T. Jones III, 54, of Oak Lane, a self-employed salesman, died Tuesday at home.
Mr. Jones moved to this area in 1985 from Oklahoma City, Okla., his birthplace. He also worked for 17 years with the Fuller Brush Co. and was a motivational speaker. He had been president of the Daytona Beach Aero Flying Club and served on several corporate boards. He was a pilot.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; two daughters, Amy Polsky, Maui, Hawaii, and Angela Jones, St. Augustine; a stepson, Bryan Carpender; two stepdaughters, Tina Carpender and Lora Tiegs; his father, William Jones II, Edmond, Okla.; a brother, Don, Stafford, Va.; a sister, Melanie Gerbholtz, Castle Rock, Colo.; and three grandchildren. Dr. Palmera G. Kabana
DAYTONA BEACH -- Dr. Palmera G. Kabana, of Auburn Drive, who was destined to a chiropractic career and was a business and service organization leader here almost from the time she arrived in 1948, died Monday at the Health Center of Daytona Beach. She was 80.
Kabana was born in Oak Park, Ill., to chiropractor parents who both attended the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. She was named after Dr. D.D. Palmer, founder of chiropractic health care and the Iowa college where she, too, graduated.
While growing up in the Chicago area, she studied dance, piano and art at the Art Institute. She attended Northwestern University before going to Palmer.
She first worked in her father's practice in Chicago. In 1946, she opened a practice with him in St. Petersburg but soon moved to Daytona Beach and became the first woman chiropractor in Volusia County. She retired in 1989.
A week after arriving in Daytona Beach she joined the Daytona Beach Business and Professional Women's Club. She served as its president three times, and in 1961 was named Woman of the Year. She was a past BPW district director and headed National Business Women's Week activities for several years.
She was a member of the Volusia-Flagler Alzheimer's Association since it was formed in 1981. She served as its president six years.
She was married
to Daytona Beacharea businessman Al Sherman, who died.
Her second husband, Clyde Glickler, a World War I veteran, also died and she became a champion for other World War I veterans. She was convention chairwoman of the Veterans of World War I of the USA in 1991 and a past state president and national publicity director of the World War I Barracks 485 and Auxiliary.
Her other past presidencies included the Volusia County Chiropractic Society; the Democratic Women's Club of the Halifax Area; the Daytona Beach Emblem Club; the Seabreeze Writers Club; the Sigma Phi Chi chiropractic sorority; and First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member since 1950. She also was a past Oriental Shrine high priestess and Eastern Star worthy matron.
In 1972, she became the first woman to address a graduating class at Palmer, where she served on the president's board. She managed two state chiropractic conventions in the 1950s, and was named chiropractor of the year in 1987 by the Florida Chiropractic Association. She was named a director emeritus this past March by the Flagler-Volusia Chiropractic Society.

Howard Mathews
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Howard R. "Choppy" Mathews, 98, of North Riverside Drive, a former 60-year salesman for the New York Life Insurance Co., died Tuesday at home.
Mr. Mathews moved to this area as an infant from his native Savannah, Ga. He graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School and, from 1922-26, attended the University of Florida, where he was a charter member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He first worked in a railroad superintendent's office in the 1920s and managed a drug store on Canal Street for the late E.M. Webster, a bank president. A Mason for more than 50 years, he was a member of New Smyrna Beach Lodge 149 F&AM;, and the Scottish Rite Valley and Morocco Temple, both of Jacksonville. He conducted yearly fund-raising activities in front of the Little Drug Store on behalf of Shriners Children's Hospitals. In 1992, he was named grand marshal of the New Smyrna Beach Christmas parade.

William Miller
SOUTH DAYTONA -- William Peter Miller, 87, of Kenilworth Avenue, a former purchasing agent for Mallencrot Chemical Manufacturing, died Saturday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Born in Queens, N.Y., Mr. Miller moved to this area in 1976 from Pompton Plains, N.J. He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church, Port Orange; Church of the Holy Spirit, Pompton Plains; the Holy Name Society; and a Moose lodge in Daytona Beach.

Edna Pearson
ORMOND BEACH -- Edna M. Pearson, 83, of North Capri Drive, a retired medical administrator for Holy Cross Hospital, Fort Lauderdale, died Friday at Memorial Hospital-Ormond Beach.
Mrs. Pearson moved to this area in 1994 from Fort Lauderdale.
Survivors include two grandchildren; and a stepgrandson, Robert Daniels, and a daughter-in-law, Wanda Mantooth, both of Ormond Beach, who provided for her care. Newlife Cremation is in charge.
Mildred Pinney
PALM COAST -- Mildred C. Pinney, 90, of Edgewater Place, who worked in retail sales for Bamberger's, died Tuesday at St. Augustine Park Place Assisted Living, St. Augustine.
Mrs. Pinney was born in Providence, R.I., and moved to this area eight years ago from Orange City.
Survivors include a son, Barry Keeffe, Palm Coast; three daughters, Eleanor Robinson, Germantown, Va., Joan Giffin, Kennersville, N.C., and Carol English, Simsbury, Conn.; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Coastal Cremation, Palm Coast, is in charge.
John Stahl
PORT ORANGE -- John L. "Andy" Stahl, 70, of Oak Hammock Drive, a retired maintenance supervisor for the Greensboro (N.C.) City Club, died Tuesday at Regency House, Daytona Beach.
Mr. Stahl, a Navy veteran, was born in Erie, Pa., and moved to this area in 1994 from Greensboro. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1590, Daytona Beach, and American Legion Post 120, Holly Hill.

DELAND -- Lester Raymond Storms, 89, of South Spring Garden Avenue, a driver for Bradley & Palmer Label Corp., Carmel, N.Y., until retiring in 1996 after 30 years of service, died Monday at home.
Mr. Storms was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and moved to this area in 1999 from Brewster, N.Y. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

Lawrence Leonardi
FLAGLER BEACH- Lawrence James Leonardi, 75, of Ocean Marina Drive, a commercial artist, died Friday at home.
Mr. Leonardi moved to his area from his native, Pittsburgh.

Madeline McDonough
DELAND - Madeline A. McDonough, 77, of Huntington Drive, a retired from the Naval Research Lab in Washington, D.C., died Friday at home.
Mrs. McDonough was born in New York City, and moved here in 1989 from Oxon Hill, Md. She was a graduate of George Washington University. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, American Association of University Women, and a former member of DeLand Country Club where she was in the Niners Club.

DAYTONA BEACH- Charlotte K. Morrison, 76, of Sea Spray St., a resident since 1955, died Saturday at home.
Mrs. Morrison, a homemaker, was born in Greensboro, N.C., and moved here from Statesville, N.C. She attended Mitchell College, Statesville, N.C. She was a member of Westminster by the Sea Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder for many years, and she received an honorary life membership and Women of the Year award from the Presbyterian Women's Organization.

DELTONA - Birdella Parker, 99, of Beal St., a retired owner/operator of the Items Reporting Co., Erie, Pa., died Friday at home.
Mrs. Parker was born in Kearsarge, Pa., and moved here in 1994 from Erie. She was a member of the Deltona Presbyterian Church.

DELTONA - Irma E. Woog, 81, of Cottondale Drive, a retired administrative secretary in the advertising and broadcasting industries, died Friday at Memorial Hospital-West Volusia, DeLand.
Mrs. Woog, a native of Brooklyn, moved here two years ago from North Miami Beach. She enjoyed music and art.

James Watt
EDGEWATER - James Watt, 80, of Victory Palm Drive, a retired baker, died Wednesday at home.
Mr. Watt, a British Royal Navy veteran of World War II, was born in Scotland and came here in 1979 from Darby, Pa. He enjoyed gardening.
