Daniel Guffin
DELTONA - Daniel A. Guffin, 84, of Sumatra Drive, a retired salesman for NCR, Little Rock, Ark., died Saturday at Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial, Orange City.
Mr. Guffin was a native of Kansas City, Mo., and moved here in 1974 from Little Rock. He was a member of Deltona United Church of Christ, Mystic Shrine, Moolah Temple, St. Louis Mo., and the Deltona Hills Golf and Country Club, where he also was a past president. He enjoyed bridge and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; a stepson, George, Leeper, Pa.; and a stepdaughter, Pauline Seufert, Lake Ashby. Memorial donations may be made to Deltona United Church of Christ, 1649 Providence Blvd., Orange City 32725. Baldauff, Orange City, is in charge.

Mary McDede
ORMOND BEACH - Mary E. McDede, 84, of Ocean Grove Drive, a retired school teacher for Pompton Lakes School system in New Jersey, died Friday at home.
Mrs. McDede was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to this area in 1980 from Pompton Lakes, N.J. She was a member of St. Brendan's Catholic Church and was a volunteer for the Pregnancy Crisis Center, both in Daytona Beach.
Survivors include a son, James, Cape Canaveral; two daughters, Rosemary Proctor, Williamsport, Pa., and Anne Kolivoski, Westchester, Ohio; a brother, Thomas English, Allendale, N.J.; a sister, Ann Henckel, Lynhurst, N.J.; six, grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Pregnancy Crisis Center, 416, N. Ridgewood Ave., Daytona Beach 32114. Baggett & Summers, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Lillian Noetling
ORMOND BEACH - Lillian Normann Noetling, 91, of Fairwood Circle, a resident since 1972, died Sunday at a local care facility.
Mrs. Noetling, a homemaker, was born in New York City, and moved here in 1972 from Short Hills, N.J. She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church and Women's Club of Ormond Beach.
Survivors include a son, Peter, Grawn, Mich.; a sister, Lucille Normann, Holly Hill. Haigh-Black, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Joseph O'Neill
PONCE INLET - Joseph Patrick O'Neill, 70, of Jana Drive, a retired pipefitter for Local Union 420 in Philadelphia, died Saturday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mr. O'Neill, a Navy veteran of the Korean War, moved here in 1991 from his native Philadelphia. He was a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church, Port Orange.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; two sons, Joseph Jr., and Brian, both of Kissimmee; a daughter, Maureen Orb, Delran, N.J.; a sister, Patricia Tynan, Paoli, Pa.; and seven grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 555 W. Granada Blvd., Suite A-1, Ormond Beach 32174-9430. Cardwell & Maloney, Port Orange, is in charge.

Josephine Ptak
DELTONA - Josephine Ptak, 96, of Abadan Drive, who had lived here since 1972, died Sunday, at Mariner Health Care, Orange City.
Mrs. Ptak, was born in Poland, and moved here from Suffield, Conn. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Joseph, Deltona; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Deltona Memorial, Orange City, is in charge.

Carter Shanklin
DAYTONA BEACH - Carter Alexander Shanklin, 85, of Mason Avenue, who retired after serving 30 years with the Air Force as a chief master sergeant, died Saturday at Emory L. Bennett Veterans Memorial Nursing Home.
Mr. Shanklin, a veteran of World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War, was born in West Frankfort, Ky., and moved here in 1998 from Pensacola. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge, Hurst, Ill.
Survivors include a son, Carter Jr., Leesburg, Va.; and a grandson. Donations may be made to the Emory L. Bennett Memorial Veterans Nursing Home, 1920 Mason Ave., Daytona Beach 32117. Haigh-Black, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Paul Thomaszeck
ORMOND BEACH - Paul H. Thomaszeck, 61, of Bay Lake Drive, a retired salesman for Unical 76 Oil Co., died Sunday at home.
Mr. Thomaszeck was a native of Brazil, and moved here two years ago from Hacienda Heights, Calif. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Palm Coast. He enjoyed golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Ursula; four stepsons, Rick, Joey, Rodney and Gordon Legere, and two daughters, Lisa Thomaszeck, and Angie Legere, all of California; three brothers and two sisters, all of Brazil; and 11 grandchildren. Craig, Palm Coast, is in charge.

Walter Wiseman
NEW SMYRNA BEACH - Walter Raymond Wiseman, 85, of Beacon Street, a plumber, died Saturday at home.
Mr. Wiseman, a veteran of the Navy, serving with the SeaBees, was born in Potomac, Md., and moved here in 1972 from Arlington, Va.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Lillian; two sons, Walter, North Carolina, and John, Springfield, Mo.; a brother, William, Arlington; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia /Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange 32119. Volusia County Cremation, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Lois Agens
PALM COAST - Lois L. Agens, 53, of Woodside Drive, a resident since 1998, died Monday at Memorial Hospital-Ormond Beach.
Mrs. Agens, a homemaker, was born in Hanover Park, N.J., and moved to this area from Stanhope, N.J. She enjoyed gardening and playing golf.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; five sons, Robert Jr. and Michael, both of Stanhope, James, Hopatcong, N.J., Charles III, Bushkill, Pa., and Joseph, Tranquility, N.J.; a daughter, Kathleen Agens, Stanhope, N.J.; her father, John Hosler, Palm Coast; two brothers, John Hosler, Cape May, N.J., and David Hosler, Catskill, N.Y.; and nine-grandchildren. Alderson's, Palm Coast, is in charge.

William Bowers
DELTONA - William Phillip Bowers, 78, of Feather Drive, a retired owner and operator of Skyline Kennels, died Sunday at home.
Mr. Bowers, was born in York, Pa. and moved to the area in 1969 from Cross Junction, Va. He was a member of the Professional Handlers Association of America and Deltona Hills Country Club. He planted thousands of trees to improve the environment.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Vallie Mae; two daughters, Marcia Applebee and Willa Griffin both of Florida; a brother, Phares Bowers, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Helen Rost, Pennsylvania, and Martha Klinedinst, Fla.; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren. Deltona Memorial Gardens, Orange City, is in charge.

Howard Browning
PORT ORANGE - Howard E. Browning, 83, of South Ridgewood Avenue, a retired law enforcement officer in Fort Lauderdale, died July 15, at Hospice Care Center.
Mr. Browning, a Navy veteran of World War II, where he served as a chief petty officer, was born in Baltimore, and moved here over 20 years ago from Fort Lauderdale.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Browning, Raleigh, N.C.; and a brother, Raymond, and a sister, Evelyn Justi, both of Baltimore. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange 32119. Volusia County Cremation, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Joseph Ceribelli
PORT ORANGE - Joseph V. Ceribelli, 48, of Orange Avenue, a carpenter in the construction industry, died Sunday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mr. Ceribelli, a Navy veteran, was born in Baltimore, and moved to this area in 1953 from Orlando. He was a member of the Boy Scouts, Port Orange.
Survivors include a son, Joseph, Orlando; his mother, Frankie Green, Daytona Beach; two brothers, Tony and Danny, both of Port Orange; a sister, Connie Todd, Orlando. Baggett & Summers, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Anita Cuozzo
PALM COAST - Anita L. Cuozzo, 67, of Beckner Lane, a union secretary-treasurer, died Saturday at home.
Mrs. Cuozzo was born in New York City, and moved to this area eight years ago from Milford, Pa. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Italian-American Club and the Moose Lodge.
No known immediate local relatives survive. Alderson is in charge.

Ethel Howell
MICANOPY - Ethel Loraine Howell, 84, of Micanopy, a postmaster for the postal service, died Saturday at home.
Mrs. Howell, was born in Lily, and was a long time resident of Micanopy. She lived in Daytona Beach from 1934 to 1942. She was a member of the Micanopy Methodist Church, where she was the pianist for 50 years. Other memberships include the Order of Eastern Star, Micanopy Chapter 140, and Micanopy Historical cemetery Association. She was a graduate of the last class of Micanopy High School, and voted the most outstanding 4-H Club girl in Florida in 1933.
Survivors include a son, Auburn Howell, Gainesville; two daughters, Sandra Williams, Gainesville, and Sharon Howell, Micanopy; a sister, Pearl Dykes, Micanopy; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Milam Funeral Home, Gainesville, is in charge.

Gloria Kumm
PORT ORANGE - Gloria R. Kumm, 60, of Orange Avenue, a crossing guard for the Sheriff's Department, died Sunday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mrs. Kumm was born in Chicago, and moved to this area 24 years ago from Stone Park, Ill. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Mrs. Kumm enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include six sons, William, James, and Richard, all of Port Orange, Robert Jr., Edgewater, Frank, Harbor Oaks, and Rick, Ormond Beach; a daughter, Jackie Fornari, Daytona Beach; a brother, Tom Wolinski, Schaumberg, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren. Dale Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.

Effie Larsen
NEW SMYRNA BEACH - Effie Larsen, 79, of Pine Shores Circle, a medical receptionist in Park Ridge, N.J., for 12 years before her retirement in 1988, died Friday at the home of her daughter in Park Ridge while vacationing.
Mrs. Larsen was born in Union City, N.J., and moved to this area in 1991 from New Jersey. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Smyrna Beach, where she served as a deaconess. She was an avid gardener and canasta player.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth, New York City; a daughter, Betty Quackenbush, Park Ridge; a brother, William Hunter, Topsham, Maine; a sister, Elisabeth Larsen, Edgewater; and a grandson. Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 509 S. Magnolia St., New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168. Robert Spearing Funeral Home, Park Ridge, is in charge.

Norma Parrish
EDGEWATER - Norma June Parrish, 61, of 36th Street, a retired nurses aide, died Saturday at Memorial Hospital-Peninsula, Ormond Beach.
Mrs. Parrish was born in Merrillville, Ind., and moved to this area in 1994 from Indianapolis. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband, James; three sons, Mike and Matt Mislan, both of Indianapolis, and Mark Mislan, Merrillville; a daughter, Madeline Wilson, Greenwood, Ind., several brothers and sisters; and 10 grandchildren. Settle-Wilder, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.
