Stephen Johnson
PONCE INLET -- Stephen J. Johnson, 55, of Ponce Terrace Circle, a native of Jacksonville, died Wednesday at home.
Mr. Johnson, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, moved here in 1984 from Miami. He was a marine electronic technician. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Melanie; and his parents, Stephen and Katherine Johnson, Gainesville. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Cardwell & Maloney, Port Orange, is in charge.

William Maher Jr.
DEBARY -- William Michael Maher Jr., 80, of Bayou Vista Street, a native of Boston, died Wednesday at Central Florida Regional Hospital, Sanford.
Mr. Maher, an Army veteran of World War II, moved here in 1983 from Boca Raton. He was a machinist in the electronics industry. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Grace; a son, Peter Gabrielle, Green Harbour, Mass.; four sisters, Judy Scott, Boynton Beach, Marilyn Gabrielle-Taylor, Punta Gorda, and Gale Bucchino, Milford, Mass.; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8093-Canteen, S. U.S. Highway 17-92, DeBary, FL 32713. Allen-Summerhill, Orange City, is in charge.

Virginia McCombs
ORMOND BEACH -- Virginia Mae McCombs, 83, of North U.S. 1, a resident since 1985, died Thursday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mrs. McCombs, a homemaker, was born in Green Camp, Ohio, and moved here from Marion, Ohio.
Survivors include three sons, Emory, Marion, Lester, Sparta, Tenn., and Bernard, Radnor, Ohio; three daughters, Joy Campbell, Ormond Beach, Phyllis Huffman, The Villages, and Louise Webb, Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Luther Hedges, Ohio; two sisters, Myrtle Salmon, Prospect, Ohio, and Leah Rodman, Radnor; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach building fund, 118 N. Palmetto Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Wilda Norman
DELAND -- Wilda Redditt Norman, 81, of Morgan Road, a retired operator for Mountain State Telephone, died Thursday at Alliance Nursing Center.
Mrs. Norman was born in Nogales, Ariz., and moved here in 1957 from Jacksonville Beach. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Wright, DeLand, and Leslie Guetter, Wabasso, Minn.; and five grandchildren. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.

Raymond Pantel
DELTONA -- Raymond H. Pantel, 84, of Galgano Avenue, a retired accountant for May Company Office Furniture, died Wednesday at Deltona Health Care.
Mr. Pantel, an Army veteran, was born in Sheboygan, Wis. He moved to this area in 1978. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Providence.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jean; three daughters, Roberta Levinson, Orlando, Ellen Axlen, Elkton, and Judith Leiterman, Milwaukee; and three grandchildren. Baldauff, Orange City, is in charge.

William Rocheleau
DAYTONA BEACH SHORES -- William Alfred Rocheleau, 79, of South Atlantic Avenue, a retired systems analyst for BellSouth, died Thursday at home.
Mr. Rocheleau, a Navy veteran of World War II, was born in Petoskey, Mich., and moved here in 2001 from Edgewater.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Hildred; two daughters, Linda Levine, Savannah, Ga., and Betty Carraway, Morehead City, N.C.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Shannon, Port Orange, is in charge.

Jessie Rutkowski
PALM COAST -- Jessie Rutkowski, 92, of Westlee Lane, who retired in 1971 from American Can Co., died Tuesday at Grand Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Rutkowski move here 10 years ago from her native Baltimore. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, John Kordek, Palm Coast; a brother, Frank Lutzrykowski, Pennsylvania; three sisters, Jo Lutzrykowski, Ann Marshall and Frances Marshall, all of Baltimore; three grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren. Palm Coast Funeral Home is in charge.

James Senn
SOUTH DAYTONA -- James Wesley Senn, 55, of Menger Circle, who was self-employed in the antique industry, died Thursday at Halifax Convalescent Center, Daytona Beach.
Mr. Senn moved here in 1990 from his birthplace, Talladega, Ala. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Talladega. He enjoyed bowling and football.
Survivors include his father, Charlie Senn, Alabama; and his mother, Elizabeth Douglas, South Daytona. Baggett & Summers, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Robert Zlatos
DELTONA -- Robert Zlatos, 62, of Carrin Street, a resident since 1980, died Wednesday at Jess Parrish Medical Center, Titusville.
Mr. Zlatos, an Army veteran, was born in Chicago. He was the owner of a fluid sealing distribution business. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling and golfing.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Geraldine; a son, Jeff, and a daughter, Laura Jung, both of Deltona; his mother, Marian Zlatos, Westchester, Ill.; a brother, Frank Zlatos, Lemont, Ill.; a sister, Patricia Lindberg, Neehan, Wis.; and four grandchildren. Baldauff, Orange City, is in charge.

Bernice Grocki
PORT ORANGE -- Bernice Grocki, 88, of Sleepy Hollow Drive, a native of Buffalo, N.Y., died Tuesday at Hospice Care Center.
Mrs. Grocki, a homemaker, came here in 2002 from Long Island, N.Y. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan Jennewein, Port Orange, and Barbara Clark, Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Mary Zorman, Long Island; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Robert Hallock
PORT ORANGE -- Robert Henry Hallock, 85, of Windsor Drive, a 20-year resident, died Tuesday at Halifax Medical Center.
Mr. Hallock, a Coast Guard veteran of World War II, was born in Patchogue, N.Y. A winter visitor beginning in 1955, he moved here from Miami and was a sales and marketing director for a wholesale meat company. His memberships included St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Daytona Beach, where he was a delegate, officer and chairman; Halifax Masonic Lodge, Daytona Beach; Veterans of Foreign Wars; Happy Tickers, Ormond Beach; the American Legion; Attack Transport Association; and Daytona Beach Track Club. He ran in the Penn Relays and held track records in Suffolk County, N.Y. He enjoyed other sports, deep-sea fishing and traveling.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dorothy; a son, Robert Jr., Laceys Spring, Ala.; a brother, William, Patchogue; and two grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 210 Orange Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Haigh-Black, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Mae Holliday
PORT ORANGE -- Mae Holliday, 94, of Tumblebrook Drive, a resident since 1979, died Friday at Mariner Health Care of Port Orange.
Mrs. Holliday was born in Winchester, Ky., and came to this area from Fort Lauderdale. She was a member of the Daytona Beach Drive-in Christian Church, Daytona Beach Shores. She enjoyed sewing and cooking.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Ziegler, Florence, Ky., and Nelda Stampler, Mohave, Ariz.; a sister, Ruth Watts, Florence; nine grandchildren, including Kathy Waite, South Daytona, who helped provide for her care; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her companion, Kenneth Petrie, Port Orange. Cardwell & Maloney is in charge.

Laroy Hood
DELAND -- Laroy J. Hood, 67, of North Arlington Avenue, owner of C&H Shoe Repair in Orange City from 1983 to 1996, died Tuesday at home.
Born in Hudson, N.Y., Mr. Hood came here in 1966 from Albany, N.Y. He served in the Navy from 1954 to 1962 and was a maintenance worker for Fish Hospital from 1967 to 1980 and at the Boggy Creek Gang Camp from 1997 to 2001.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Norma; three sons, Jason, DeLand, Christopher, Orlando, and Laroy Jr., Rome, Ga.; a daughter, Suzette Owens, and his mother, Isabelle Ringer, both of DeLand; two brothers, Neale, DeLand, and Peter, Clermont; and eight grandsons. Memorial donations may be made to Florida Hospital Memorial HospiceCare, 785 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174; or the American Cancer Society, West Volusia Unit, 218-A E. Richard Janes
EDGEWATER -- Richard Donald Janes, 73, of Lime Tree Drive, a former electronics technician for Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach and the Federal Aviation Administration, died Friday at home.
Born in Jamaica, N.Y., Mr. Janes served in the 3501st Army Air Force as a radio repair specialist and electronics instructor. He was a co-founder of Tri-R, creating medical and innovative equipment. He also worked for Emerson Radio, IBM and the Rockefeller Institute and developed the process for formulating crystals for use in solid-state equipment. He attended Syracuse and Columbia universities and, since 1984, co-owned Tipton's Florist with his wife. He enjoyed aviation, origami, crosswords, sailing and playing piano.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; two daughters, Edith Roberts, Edgewater, and Martha Lugones, Lawrence, Ga.; and six grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Southeast Volusia Humane Society, 1200 S. Glencoe Road, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168; or Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Phil Kenter
PORT ORANGE -- Phil Kenter, 92, of Las Fuentes Drive, a resident since 1992, died Tuesday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mr. Kenter, a former supermarket manager, was born in Bridgeport, Conn., and came here from Long Island, N.Y. He was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Betty; a son, Philip, Riverhead, N.Y.; a daughter, Rochelle Holtz, Ormond Beach; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720; or the Jewish Federation of Volusia - Flagler, 733 S. Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Paul Marcolina
PORT ORANGE -- Paul J. Marcolina, 42, of Tumbler Drive, a surveyor for Mark Dowst & Associates, Daytona Beach, died Sunday in a motorcycle accident on State Road 415.
Mr. Marcolina moved here in 1990 from his native Philadelphia. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Maria; two daughters, Jessica and Jenny, both of Port Orange; his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Leo Curtin, Naples; three brothers, Robert, Oreland, Pa., Jay, Warminster, Pa., and Richard, Longmont, Colo.; a sister, Lisa Henrich, Wyndmoor, Pa. Shannon is in charge.

Thomas Pangburn
ORANGE CITY -- Thomas Pangburn, 89, of Graves Avenue, a 24-year resident, died Monday at Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial.
Mr. Pangburn, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in Lawrence, Mass. He formerly was a foreman at a foundry. He was a member of the Independent Order Odd Fellows, Lawrence. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Anita; a daughter, Susan Gunning, Claremont, N.H.; a brother, William, Lawrence; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. FourTowns Cremation is in charge.
