Eileen Marasco
DELAND -- Eileen Marie Stockment Marasco, 76, of Glenwood Hammock Road, who retired in 1989 as a 42-year registered nurse, died Tuesday at home.
Mrs. Marasco, a former assistant director of nursing at St. Luke's Hospital in New York, was born in West Point Township, Ind. She moved to DeLand in 1996 from Daytona Beach. She earned her nursing degree from St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, Ind.
Survivors include a sister, Mildred Headdy, Sarasota; and a friend, Armand Maebe, DeLand, who provided for her care. Memorial donations may be made to a church or charity of one's choice. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

Evelyn Marshall
HOLLY HILL -- Evelyn Dolores Marshall, 66, of Riverside Drive, a longtime proofreader and staff assistant for WCEU-TV 15, died Thursday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial.
Mrs. Marshall moved here in 1959 from her native Pittsburgh. She was a member of Riverside Presbyterian Church and the Sierra Club and was active with the Daytona Playhouse. She earned an associate's degree from Daytona Beach Community College. She enjoyed nonfiction books and animals, especially cats.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Rapolti, Palm Coast; two sisters, Laverne Miller and Marion Ramano, both of Pittsburgh; and two grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Halifax Humane Society, P.O. Box 9035, Daytona Beach, FL 32120-9035. New Life Cremation, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

John Miller III
EDGEWATER -- John Davis Miller III, 52, of Yule Tree Drive, a CT scan technician at Bert Fish Medical Center, New Smyrna Beach, died Thursday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mr. Miller, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, was born in Lancaster, Pa. He came here in 1987 from Wilmington, Del. He enjoyed camping and was a fan of football and stock car racing.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Lynn; a son, Dennis Miller, a daughter, Amy Christie, and his mother, Jean VanDusen, all of Edgewater; a sister, Bonnie Seymour, Baltimore; and a grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129; or a charity of one's choice. Dudley, Edgewater, is in charge.

Doreen Mitterholzer
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Doreen Lee Mitterholzer, 70, of Rochester Court, a former secretary for Thompson Office Equipment, died Thursday at Bert Fish Medical Center.
Mrs. Mitterholzer was born in Springfield, Ohio. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed flower gardening and traveling to the Smoky Mountains.
Survivors include her husband, Philip; a son, Paul, Chino, Calif.; a daughter, Monica Mitterholzer, Fort Lauderdale; two sisters, Karen McCullough, Pompano Beach, and Shirley Hopkins, Springfield; and two grandchildren. Baldwin Brothers Memorial is in charge.

Terence Rice
ORMOND BEACH -- Terence S. Rice, 75, of Misty Falls Drive, who retired in 1973 as a New York City police officer, died Friday at home.
Mr. Rice, an Army and Marine Corps veteran who served in the Vietnam War, was born in the Bronx, N.Y. He came here in 1990 from Long Island, N.Y. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the New York City Police Benevolent Association. He enjoyed golf, fishing, poker and boccie.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Louise; a son, Dennis, Smithtown, N.Y.; four daughters, Patricia Swanger, Miller Place, N.Y., Barbara O'Kane, Brentwood, N.Y., Ellen Camano, Forest Hills, Md., and Diane Chesebro, Patchogue, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Murray, Poughquag, N.Y.; and 12 grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, East Volusia Unit, 146 Orange Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Ormond Funeral Home is in charge.

Margie Rivera
DELTONA -- Margie Rivera, 50, of Canal Road, supervisor of operations for Pan American Airways at Sanford Airport, died Wednesday at Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial, Orange City.
Born in New York City, Mrs. Rivera moved here in 1989 from Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a member of St. Clare Catholic Community.
Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Raul; two sons, Jonathan, Orange City, and Jason, Deltona; her mother, Mercedes Negron, Deltona; three brothers, Reynaldo Gonzalez, Deltona, and Jose and William Gonzalez, both of the Bronx, N.Y.; two sisters, Miriam Navarro, Deltona, and Maria Ghigliotty, Milford, Pa.; and a grandchild. Deltona Memorial, Orange City, is in charge.

John Salmosan
SOUTH DAYTONA -- John Salmosan, 85, of Citrus Avenue, a magician and clown in this area known as "The Baron, " died Wednesday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mr. Salmosan, an Army veteran, was born in Elizabeth, N.J., where he retired as a supervisor for the Singer Corp. He came here in 1987 from Carteret, N.J. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Port Orange. He was an oil painter and won awards for his ceramics.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marie; a son, John Jr.; a daughter, Louise Fowler; a sister, Lena Borris; and a grandchild. Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.

Harlon Sherbert
HOLLY HILL -- Harlon C. Sherbert, 81, of Holly Street, a retired tugboat operator for Daytona Beach Boatworks, died Thursday at home.
Mr. Sherbert, an Army veteran, moved here in 1924 from his birthplace, Bella Falls, Vt. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret; a stepson, Jim Hayes, Granite Falls, N.C.; a daughter, Linda Morrow, Daytona Beach; two brothers, Robert, Port Orange, and Charles, Leesburg; two sisters, Peggy Branham, Daytona Beach, and Erma Tyler, Palm Coast; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Daytona Funeral Home, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Helen Allmond
FLAGLER BEACH -- Helen L. Allmond, 76, of Flagler Beach, who was born in Paragould, Ark., died Monday at Flagler Pines, Bunnell.
Mrs. Allmond, a homemaker, moved to Flagler Beach in 1986 from Flint, Mich. She made quilts, dolls and crafts. She also enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, A.G.; two sons, Mike and Dave, both of Flint; two daughters, Kathy DeGrow, Eaton Rapids, Mich., and Vickie Allmond, Traverse City, Mich.; and six grandchildren. Volusia County Cremation, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Blanche Bels
PALM COAST -- Blanche D. Bels, 90, of Nantucket Drive, a resident since 1992, died Tuesday at a caregiver's home in Palm Coast.
Mrs. Bels, a homemaker, was born in Valencia, Spain. She moved to this area from Deerfield Beach. She enjoyed bridge and sewing.
Survivors include a daughter, Lillian Enright, Palm Coast; a sister, Emma Marron, Fort Lauderdale; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Craig, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Jerry Biggs
FLAGLER BEACH -- Jerry A. Biggs, 60, of North State Road A1A, a retired conductor for the C&O Railroad, died June 8 at Florida Hospital-DeLand.
Mr. Biggs, who served in the Army National Guard, came here in 1983 from his native Peru, Ind. He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose, Eagles and Elks organizations. He enjoyed hunting and carpentry.
Survivors include his mother, Jean Biggs, a brother, Jim Biggs, and a sister, Bonnie Mathis, all of Peru. Palm Coast Funeral Home, Palm Coast, is in charge.

Gretchen Brown
ORMOND BEACH -- Gretchen L. Brown, 82, of South Ridgewood Avenue, also a former Palm Coast resident, died Sunday at Bridgeview Center.
Mrs. Brown, a homemaker, was born in Sarles, N.D., and came here in 1987 from Singapore. She enjoyed gardening, bingo, and arts and crafts.
Survivors include a son, Michael, Mission Viejo, Calif.; two daughters, Kathi Gentry, Port Orange, Ellen Gaffney, Fresno, Calif.; a brother, Howard Leikvold, Wichita, Kan.; and three grandchildren. Craig, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Susan Burton
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Susan Burton, 79, of 26th Street, a native of Boston, died Tuesday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mrs. Burton moved to this area this year from Lehigh Acres. She was a member of the Steps N Time dance club in North Fort Myers.
Survivors include a son, William Gillette, Clearwater; a daughter, Linda Wright, New Smyrna Beach; and three grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 218-A E. New York Ave., DeLand, FL 32724-5554. Phoenix Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Nathan Cole
PALM COAST -- Nathan Cole, 80, of Webster Lane, a member of the Northeast Florida Jazz Association, died Wednesday at Flagler Pines, Bunnell.
Mr. Cole, an air conditioning maintenance worker, was born in Selma, Ala. He moved here more than five years ago from Queens, N.Y.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Myra; two sons, Ronald, California, and Regan, Canada; his mother, Rosa Taylor, North Carolina; two brothers, Aaron, North Carolina, and Norman, the Bronx, N.Y.; a sister, Winona Swain, North Carolina; and four grandchildren. Coastal Cremation is in charge.

Edna Espeland
EDGEWATER -- Edna H. Espeland, 80, of Costa Rica, a retired housekeeper for Copley Hospital, Aurora, Ill., died Wednesday at home.
Born in Minnesota, Mrs. Espeland came here in 1997 from Aurora. She volunteered at the Brannon Center, New Smyrna Beach. She enjoyed bingo.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Long, Edgewater, and Terry Poniatowski, New Smyrna Beach; a sister, Linda McNea, Minneapolis; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to the Brannon Center, 105 Riverside Drive, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168. Settle-Wilder, Edgewater, is in charge.

Thelma Hively
DAYTONA BEACH -- Thelma Hively, 90, of Sunland Road, a native of Walton, W.Va., died Tuesday at home.
Mrs. Hively, a homemaker, moved here 30 years ago from West Virginia. She enjoyed reading, traveling and gardening.
Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Emmett "Buck"; a son, Ronald, Daytona Beach; a daughter, Marjorie Hudnall, Scott Depot, W.Va.; a brother, Paul Dodd, Elkview, W.Va.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Cardwell & Maloney, Port Orange, is in charge.

Patricia Husemann
OAK HILL -- Patricia I. Husemann, 71, of Second Street, a supervisor for the Birmingham (Mich.) Parks and Recreation Department before retiring, died Tuesday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Miss Husemann moved here in 1970 from her native Detroit. Before 1952, when she was struck with polio, she was a national women's speed skating champion, a national track and field champion and an Olympic swimming finalist, and earned a scholarship to study choreography at the University of Vienna, Austria. She was a past president of Handicapped Adults of Volusia County (HAVOC), Port Orange, and the Seaside Strokers Club, New Smyrna Beach. She also was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Smyrna Beach, and the Florida East Coast Post-Polio Support Group. She earned a bachelor's degree in recreation administration from Indiana University Normal College and a Michigan governor's award as most outstanding handicapped citizen.
Survivors include a sister, Charlene Groom, Cape Coral. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Dudley, Edgewater, is in charge.
