BROOKSVILLE -- Louise Ann Corkum, 81, of Brooksville, the mother of Lake Helen resident, Reginald Corkum, died Monday at her son's home.
Mrs. Corkum, a homemaker, was born in Fairhaven, Mass., and moved to Brooksville in 1989. She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church, Brooksville.
Additional survivors include her husband of 47 years, Rex; two stepdaughters, Joyce DiRocco, Amesbury, Mass., and Donna Locke, Salem, Mass.; a brother, Frank Ketcham, Brooksville; a sister, Shirley Hill, Pensacola; and grandchild. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Albert Garrett
MARCH 28, 1940 -- JULY 28, 2003
INDIALANTIC -- Albert Edward Garrett, 63, of Indialantic, a native of New Smyrna Beach, died Monday at a friend's home in Edgewater.
Mr. Garrett, a retired real estate agent, moved to the Melbourne area in 1953 from New Smyrna Beach. He also was a retail marketing manager for several stores in the New York City and Philadelphia areas. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Melbourne. Mr. Garrett earned a bachelor's degree from Temple University.
Survivors include his mother, Jessie, Rockledge; a brother, A.B. "Bo" III, Geneva; and a sister, Patricia Smith, Rockledge. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 555 W. Granada Blvd., Suite A-1, Ormond Beach 32174. Dudley, Edgewater, is in charge.

Delores Griffith
SEPT. 24, 1959 -- JULY 30, 2003
PORT ORANGE -- Delores Ann Griffith, 43, of Orange Boulevard, a waitress for the Olive Garden, Daytona Beach, died Wednesday at home.
Ms. Griffith was born in Prince Frederick, Md., and moved here in 1985 from San Bernadino, Calif.
Survivors include a daughter, Danah Davis, Holly Hill; her mother and stepfather, Betty and Leonard Sypolt, Edgewater; her father, Arthur, Huntingtown, Md.; two brothers, Arthur Jr., Huntingtown, and James, Staunton, Va.; a sister, Christina Sypolt, Edgewater; and a grandson. Cardwell & Maloney is in charge.

Jerry Jones
AUG. 11, 1933 -- JULY 29, 2003
EDGEWATER -- Jerry Edwin Jones, 69, of Victory Palm Drive, a crane operator for Caterpillar Tractor Co., Decatur, Ill., before his retirement, died Tuesday at home.
Mr. Jones, an Army veteran of the Korean War, moved to this area in 1991 from his native Decatur. He attended Christian Life Center, New Smyrna Beach.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda; and two sons, Terry, Springfield, Mo., and Michael, Houston. Dudley, Edgewater, is in charge.

Wilson Meunier
JULY 16, 1918 -- JULY 28, 2003
ORMOND BEACH -- Wilson W. Meunier, 85, of Tree Top Circle, a resident since 1985, died Monday at home.
Born in Chicopee, Mass., Mr. Meunier, an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, moved here from South Hadley, Mass. He was a retired insurance manager.
Survivors include his wife, Constance; a son, Mark, Northampton, Mass.; a daughter, Joan Meunier, Poolesville, Md.; a sister, Claire Meunier, Chicopee; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to Florida Hospital Memorial HospiceCare, 785 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174. New Life Cremation is in charge.

Harold Neeley
JAN. 18, 1940 -- JULY 29, 2003
DAYTONA BEACH -- Harold Neeley, 63, of Russell Drive, a 36-year employee for the City of Daytona Beach, died Tuesday at Halifax Medical Center.
Mr. Neeley moved to this area as a child from his birthplace, Favoretta. He was a member and deacon of David's Temple of Deliverance Church. He enjoyed gardening and carpentry.
Survivors include his wife of nine years, Myra; three sons, Harold Jr., Darron, and Chad, a daughter, Harriet David, his mother, the Rev. Irene Neeley, two brothers, Obadiah and William, and a sister, Ivilla Neeley, all of Daytona Beach; and five grandchildren. Thompson is in charge.

Betty Nemesek
JUNE 1, 1924 -- JULY 30, 2003
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Betty J. Nemesek, 79, of Lake Fairgreen Circle, a resident since 1980, died Wednesday at home.
Mrs. Nemesek, a homemaker and former personal assistant to Elaine Wold, a Johnson & Johnson heir, was born in Kecksburg, Pa., and moved here from Fort Lauderdale.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond; three sons, Richard, New Smyrna Beach, Terry Parkersburg, W.Va., and Robert, Las Vegas; a daughter, Betty Noland, New Smyrna Beach; a sister, Eloise Weston, Vancouver, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Settle-Wilder, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Johanna Perkins
OCT. 29, 1944 -- JULY 29, 2003
NEWBERRY -- Johanna Duke Perkins, 58, of Newberry, the sister of DeLand resident, Carolyn Brown, died Tuesday at home.
Mrs. Perkins, a paralegal, was born in Miami, and moved to Newberry from Lakeland.
Additional survivors include her husband, David; three sons, Alexander Snyder, Miami, and Theodore and Joseph Dell, both of Newberry; a brother, Carl Duke, Clermont; a sister, Jean Lockwood, Plant City; and three grandchildren. Jerry Pocil
OCT. 15, 1928 -- JULY 29, 2003
PONCE INLET -- Jerry Pocil, 74, of Ashley Court, a tool and dye maker for Overland Boiling Co., Franklin Park, Ill., died Tuesday at Manor on the Green, Daytona Beach.
Born in the Ukraine, Mr. Pocil moved here in 1994 from River Grove, Ill. He was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Chicago.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Olga; two sons, Jack, DeLand, and Ted, Melrose Park, Ill.; a daughter, Kathy Skelton, Carol Stream, Ill.; two brothers, Peter Spiwak, Schaumburg, Ill., and Joseph Pocil, the Ukraine; and a grandson. Cardwell & Maloney, Port Orange, is in charge.

Alexis Rogers
JAN. 25, 1994 -- JULY 29, 2003
EDGEWATER -- Alexis Dylan "Bubby" Rogers, 9 of Spencer Street, a native of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, died Tuesday at Florida Hospital-Orlando following a long illness.
Alexis moved to this area in 1999 from Orlando.
Survivors include his father, Alexis, Orlando; his mother, Tressia Highhouse, Edgewater; two sisters, Corrine Rogers, Edgewater, and Doriane Rogers, Orlando; his paternal grandmother, Edris Phillips, St. Croix; his maternal grandparents, Walter and Ruth Patterson, Leesburg; and his maternal grandmother, Garnett Alley, Cattlesburg, Ky. Baldwin Brothers, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Vodia Scarbough
JUNE 26, 1909 -- JULY 30, 2003
DAYTONA BEACH -- Vodia Scarbough, 94, of Thunderbird Drive, a resident since 1972, died Wednesday at Halifax Medical Center.
Mrs. Scarbough, a housekeeper, was born in Bonifay and moved here from Bunnell. She was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Institutional Church. She enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include a son, Sam, Daytona Beach; three daughters, June Hunter and Jeanette Johnson, both of Daytona Beach, and Mary Manor, Miami Beach; three sisters, Nettie McDonald, Louella Johnson, and Edna Thomas, all of Bunnell; 21 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Waters, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Russell Shaw
OCT. 29, 1918 -- JULY 29, 2003
DAYTONA BEACH -- Russell E. Shaw, 84, of Rosalyn Avenue, a retired inspector for the State of Florida, died Tuesday at Halifax Medical Center.
Mr. Shaw, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in New Kensington, Pa., and moved here in 1954 from Pennsylvania. He enjoyed automobile racing, travel and his cats.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty; a son, Russell Jr., Lakeland; and three grandchildren. Daytona Funeral Home is in charge.

Jane Steinmetz
AUG. 1, 1924 -- JULY 29, 2003
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Jane E. Steinmetz, 78, of North Atlantic Avenue, who worked for radio station WSBB for several years, died Tuesday at home.
Mrs. Steinmetz was born in Philadelphia and moved here in 1977 from Redondo Beach, Calif. She was a set designer for the Little Theater of New Smyrna Beach and was a member of the Republican Club and the Elks auxiliary. Mrs. Steinmetz also was a former member of the board of directors for the Southeast Volusia Humane Society and the Beach Commission, both in New Smyrna Beach.
Survivors include a son, Jay Kerrigan, San Marcos, Calif.; two daughters, Carol Kerrigan, New Smyrna Beach, and Kathy Kerrigan, St. Augustine; two stepsons, David Steinmetz, New Smyrna Beach, and Ken Steinmetz, Escondido, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Nancy Hume, Manhattan Beach, Calif.; and three grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129; or to Southeast Volusia Humane Society, 1200 S. Glencoe Road, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168. MAY 26, 1928 -- JULY 29, 2003
DELAND -- Viola T. Welch, 75, of North Hill Avenue, a resident since 1994, died Tuesday at home.
Mrs. Welch, a homemaker, was born in Winter Haven and moved here from Alaska. She was a member of The Church of God, DeLand.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, William; a son, David, Fairbanks, Alaska; two daughters, Robin Patterson, Anchorage, Alaska, and Eva Buck, Wasilla, Alaska; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.
