Mona Ann Moore, 65, of Ft. Myers, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2004. She has been a resident here since moving from Colorado in 1972. Mona was a Methodist by faith, and loved to spend her spare time with her family and writing poetry.
She is survived by her devoted and loving family, husband of 47 years, Ronald L. Moore, son, Stephen Moore of Greensburg, Pennsylvania , daughter Robin Kontos (Gus) of Port Charlotte, sister, Alda Kitts of Norfolk, Virginia, grandchildren; Alexandra, Stephanie, George and Tina.
A celebration of her life will be Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33919. In lieu of flowers, memorials made in Mona's name to Hope Hospice would be appreciated. Cremation arrangements are by the Kiser Funeral Home, 9231 Cypress Lake Dr. Kiser Funeral Home

Alvin Nathan, MD, 90, of Ft. Myers, FL passed away November 23, 2004.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, December 11, at the Helm Club in the Landings, at the corner of McGregor and College Parkway from 1-3 PM with the Rev. Wayne Robinson of All Faiths Unitarian Congregation officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nathan Family Educational excellence Fund, Lee Memorial Health System Foundation, 9800 South HealthPark Dr., Ft. Myers, FL 33908.

Charles Dawson was born June 5, 1938 in Port St. Joe, Florida. Charles moved to Ft. Myers in 1955. He attended Dunbar High School, where he was a member of the football team. He was a graduate of the Class of 1956.
Charles joined Friendship Baptist Church in 1956. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Charles was employed by Smitty's Beef House for 13 years as a part-time cook. After leaving Smitty's he worked several other jobs before becoming employed by the News Press, where he was employed for 19 years until becoming ill. Charles enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing and above all talking on his CB with his CB buddies.
Charles leaves to mourn his passing one son, Dwayne Charles Dawson, and friend Tiffany, two grandsons, Damian Doivin Dawson, and Jalene Allen Dawson; his mother Julia Baker Barnes; five brothers, Louis Barnes and Earnest Barnes of Rochester, NY and Alvin Barnes of Ft. Myers; four sisters, Doris Jones of Cape Coral, Patricia Thomas of Lehigh Acres, Lacartooria Dunbar and Sarah Barnes of Ft. Myers, four sisters-in-law Shirly Barnes of Rochester, NY, Sara Christine Barnes, Wilahmenia Barnes and Joyce Barnes of Ft. Myers, three brothers-in-law Cornell Jones of Cape Coral, Billy Thomas of Lehigh Acres and William Dunbar of Ft. Myers, one uncle Marcus Barnes and wife Louise of Ft. Myers, one aunt Queen Barnes of Ft. Myers; a special family friend Sonya Young and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Friday, October 29, 2004 from Friendship Baptist Church, 2030 Palm Ave., Ft. Myers, FL. Interment to follow at Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 PM (TODAY) from Hickson Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hickson Funeral Home, Inc., 2530 Highland Ave., Ft. Myers, FL 334-6440.

Ethel M. Obodich, 83, of Ft. Myers, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2004 while at Lee Convalescent Care in Ft. Myers. Ethel was born in Barberton, OH on June 14, 1921, the youngest of seven children of her parents, Michael and Anna Matolyak. A 45 year resident of Ft. Myers, she retired from Yoder Bros. with 40+ years of service. Ethel was a devoted member of St. Cecelia Catholic Community and The St. Cecelia Women's Guild. She enjoyed her family and during her later years, living with them, so that she could enjoy the great-grandchildren and the family pets, Bailey and Annie.
Survivors include a son, Roger R. Obodich and wife Debbie of Ft. Myers, sister-in-law, Bessie Akers of Fairlawn, OH, grand-stepson, Bryan Miller, grand-stepdaughter, Keista Ransom and her children Tiessa and Kwazi of Ft. Myers and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband Ralph L. Obodich predeceased her in 1982. Her sisters; Ann Kepnes, Julia Hornyak, Katherine Reynolds, Dorothy McClain, Helen Zema and brother Michael Matolyak also all predeceased her.
Harvey-Engelhardt-Metz Funeral Home is arranging her burial at Memorial Gardens Cemetery next to her husband. Memorial service will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 10th at 10:30 AM at St. Cecelia Catholic Church.

Jane Moreland Parker, 67, died early Sunday morning, December 5, 2004. Born in Atlanta, GA, Jane was a resident of Spartanburg, SC for many years, graduating from Spartanburg High School and later, Gulf Park College in Mississippi. She moved to Ft. Myers, FL in 1962 and was active in numerous community groups as well as being a long standing member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
Jane retired after several years as a Governmental Affairs Consultant for the law firm of Pavese, Shields, Haverfield, Dalton, Harrison and Jensen. Prior to that she was the Executive Director of Economic Development Coalition of Lee County, the Executive Director of the Southwest Florida League of Cities and a lobbyist with former area State Representative, Ted Randell. She spent several years in Tallahassee each spring lobbying legislators on behalf of Southwest Florida cities, businesses and the EDC of Lee County.
Her community involvement began in the 1960's and included serving as a Governor's Appointee on the Lee County Crusade for Safety, President of the Ft. Myers Junior Womens Club, Secretary for the National Federation of Womens Clubs, Chairman for the City of Ft. Myers Cable Television Committee, Lee County Comprehensive Plan's Economic Element Advisory Committee, Lee County Affordable Housing Committee and Chairman of the Keep Lee County Beautiful Board of Directors.
She had not one green thumb, but two, from leading the Edison Gardening Club to her love of native ferns, orchids and bromeliads, her homes were always a lush, green oasis of calm and quiet. Her favorite places included Corkscrew Swamp, Devil's Garden and Babcock Ranch. She made a last trip through the Fakahatchee Preserve only 10 days before her passing.
Jane was born in 1937 to Robert Benjamin Moreland, Sr. and Mary Haney Moreland. She is survived by her sister, Joanne Martin of Hickory, NC and her brother, Robert Moreland, Jr. (Lynn) of Columbia, TN and her four children, all of Ft. Myers; Wiley Parker, Jr. (Marla), Harrison Lerett (Jamie), Robert Parker and Alise Flanjack (Chuck). She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jazzmine, Erinn, Charlie, Holden, Melissa and William.
Services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, December 10, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church with a reception immediately following in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Keep Lee County Beautiful or Hope Hospice of Lee County. Cremation arrangements by Kiser Funeral Home, 9231 Cypress Lake Drive, Ft. Myers, FL.

James B. Stowell, 71, of Ft. Myers passed away December 6, 2004 in the loving hands of Hope Hospice.
He is survived by his wife of 47 yeas, Elsie (Suckow), children, Michael, Veronica (Dan) Wilson, Allen (Cindy), and Peggy Pleva, 5 grandchildren and 1 greatgrandson.
A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, December 9 at Grace Lutheran Church on Old Olga Rd. at 1:00 P.M. Lee Memorial Park Funeral Home

Vincent K. Wipf, PH.D., born August 16, 1939, entered into the presence of the Lord on Dec. 1, 2004. Known to his family as "Papa".
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Pat, his children, Todd, Vaughn and Lanie, his father Herold (Red) and twin brother Dr. Vaughn Wipf (DDS). He was preceded in death by his mother, Osse. In addition, he leaves 5 grandchildren, Ashley, Lauren, Tryston and Hailey Wipf and Parker Krechting.
Vince was born and raised in Santa Barbara, CA. He met his wife, Pat Vint, while attending Cal Poly Univ. in CA. He completed his education after earning a PH.D in 69' at Louisana State Univ. He immediately entered into the food and flavor industry where he held several executive positions in marketing and management until retirement.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, Dad, son, brother and grandfather who was incredibly talented, creative and hardworking. His love for God, Church and family will always be an inspiration to those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Sat. Dec. 11th at 3:00 PM at Gospel Baptist Church in Bonita Springs, 24861 Old 41 Rd., Bonita Springs, FL 34135, (239) 947-1285. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ft. Myers Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908-3617 or Gospel Baptist Church-Benevolent Fund.

Joseph G Cherry, 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather and man of God, passed away from prolonged illnesses on February 24, 2005.
Joe is survived by his loving wife Rosalie; two sons, Kevin J. Cherry of Ft. Myers, Richard G. Cherry and daughter-in-law Pamela of Palm Beach Gardens; daughter, Susan Cherry Hopper and son-in-law Charles of Ft. Myers; his treasured grandchildren, Kevin J. Cherry, Jr. (Casey) and wife Natalie of Carpentersville, Il, Richard G. Cherry, Jr. (Ricky) of Palm Beach Gardens, Taylor L. Hopper of Ft. Myers, and Kelsey E. Hopper of Ft. Myers; sisters, Hazel Rumble brother-in-law Harry of Hamilton, Ontario, and Alma Steckley of , Toronto, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held March 5 at 1:00 p.m. in the worship center of McGregor Baptist Church, 3750 Colonial Blvd, in Ft. Myers. The family will receive celebrants starting at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice at 9470 Health Park Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908, the Alvin A. Richard O. Greenburg, 80, a resident of Lake Fairways Country Club in N. Ft. Myers since 1989, passed away on Monday February 28, 2005. He was born in Plainwell, Michigan on November 6, 1924, the son of the late Rex and Edna Rice Greenburg.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Madelyn White Greenburg of N. Ft. Myers. He leaves a son, Bill and his wife Ivy of Lansing, Michigan and a daughter, Connie and her husband, Doug of Gaylord, Michigan. A son, David, predeceased him in 1995. Also, he leaves 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Upon graduation, he served in the 8th Army Air Force and was stationed in England and Africa during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Following his tour of duty he owned and operated his own business, Office Machine Sales and Service Company in Lansing, Michigan. He retired in 1987. He was a past commander and lifetime member of VFW Post 2737 in Michigan and a lifetime member of the Elks.
During his time in Florida, he was a member of St. Francis Church in Ft. Myers and fro the past two years a member of St. Therese Church in N. Ft. Myers. He served as an usher nearly until the time of his death.
There will be a funeral mass at St. Therese on Monday, March 7, 2005, 10:00 AM followed by a reception at the clubhouse at Lake Fairways Country Club. The family requests that anyone wishing to make a donation in his memory send it to: Hope Hospice House of Cape Coral, 2430 Diplomat Parkway, Cape Coral, FL 33909. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
