Harold Tate

DEC. 8, 1920 -- JUNE 7, 2004

EDGEWATER --Harold Edgar Tate, 83, of Needle Palm Drive, who owned Randolph, Tate & MaGee and A Masonry in Atlanta, died Monday at home.

Mr. Tate, a Navy veteran of World War II, was born in Newark, Ohio, and came here in 1985 from Lawrenceville, Ga. He also taught a brick mason apprentice program for Bricklayers & Allied Craftsman Local No. 8, Atlanta. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Temple and the Loyal Order of Moose. An avid pool player, in 1993 he participated in the Bush League Pool Tournament in Las Vegas.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Doris; three sons, Shawn Tate, Whitesburg, Ga., Richard Serra, Virginia Beach, Va., and Tony Korkoleo, Edgewater; two daughters, Dee Hahn, Tyler, Texas, and Shere Lowery, Lawrenceville; three sisters, Juanita Conner, Mildred Harris and Helen Baughman, all of Newark; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Settle-Wilder, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Alberta Wilmore

APRIl 28, 1944 -- JUNE 8, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Alberta Wilmore, 60, of North Street, who retired in 2000 as a registered nurse from Halifax Medical Center, died Tuesday at Halifax Medical Center.

Mrs. Wilmore was born in Eastman, Ga., and moved here in 1964 from Bunnell. She earned her nursing degree from Bethune-Cookman College. Mrs. Wilmore was a member of Hope Fellowship Church.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Louis; two sons, Demetricks Prince, Tampa, and Larry Prince, Hinesville; a brother, Frank Smith, Miami; six sisters, Cora Holden and Heddie Hubbard, both of Daytona Beach, Juanita and Doris Smith, both of Atlanta, Louise Murray, Pompano, and Ida Mae Sessoms, Palatka; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Thompson is in charge.

Billie Woodhouse

SEPT. 21, 1914 -- JUNE 8, 2004

PORT ORANGE -- Billie W. Woodhouse, 89, of Beverly Street, a legal stenographer for the Law Office of Kinsey, Vincent & Pyle in Daytona Beach before her retirement, died Tuesday at Manor on the Green, Daytona Beach.

Mrs. Woodhouse was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved here from Sarasota in 1965. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Daytona Beach, and formerly volunteered at the Port Orange Regional Library.

Survivors include friends, Joan Gagnon and Cathy Roby and family, Port Orange, all of whom provided for her care. Memorial donations may be made to the Halifax Humane Society, P.O. Box 9035, Daytona Beach, FL 32120-9035. Cardwell & Maloney is in charge.

John Zona

MAY 9, 1939 -- JUNE 7, 2004

PORT ORANGE -- John J. Zona, 65, of Keith Lane, a retired plastic fabricator for Polymer Fabrications, Daytona Beach, died Monday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

A native of Seneca Falls, N.Y., Mr. Zona moved here in 1962 from Cazenovia, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Norma; four sons, Larry, DeLeon Springs, Luke and Bill, both of Port Orange, and Mark, Oxford, Kan.; a daughter, Cindy Houser, Douglass, Kan.; six brothers, Edward and William, both of New Smyrna Beach, Danny, Holly Hill, Norman Jr., South Carolina, Mike, North Carolina, and Jon, Michigan; four sisters, Nancy Zona and Cora Goodman, both of Holly Hill, Marsha Wells, North Carolina, and Nora Zona, Seneca Falls; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Cardwell & Maloney is in charge.

Minard Crowder
JAN. 12, 1925 -- JUNE 11, 2004

PORT ORANGE -- Minard D. Crowder, 79, of Viking Drive, who retired after 30 years in the as a government employee, died Friday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mr. Crowder, a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, was born in Hillham, Ind., and moved here in 1987 from Odon, Ind. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and a past member of the Kiwanis Club in Indiana.

Survivors include a son, Terry, Port Orange; a sister, Delma Parson, Portage, Ind.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Volusia Memorial, Port Orange, is in charge.

Janie Mims-Wiley

MAY 24, 1954 -- JUNE 12, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Janie G. Mims-Wiley, 50, of Orange Avenue, a native and lifelong resident, died Saturday at Halifax Medical Center.

Mrs. Mims-Wiley, a homemaker, was a member of St. John AME Church and a 1972 graduate of Mainland High School. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her companion, Leon Oliver; two sons, Lee Wiley II and Adrian Wiley, a daughter, Alisha Wiley, and three brothers, Dave Mims Jr., Eddie Mims and John Mims, all of Daytona Beach; four sisters, Daisy Broxton and Edna Laws, both of Daytona Beach, Ruby King-Frasier, California, and Ann Bess, New York; eight grandchildren; and her former husband, Lee Wiley, Daytona Beach, who provided for her care. Thompson is in charge.

Sarah Munsch

JAN. 24, 1925 -- JUNE 10, 2004

ORMOND-BY-THE-SEA -- Sarah L. Munsch, 79, of Berkley Road, who worked for Sun Drugs in Pittsburgh before her retirement, died Thursday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial.

Mrs. Munsch moved here in 1978 from her native Pittsburgh.

Survivors include a son, Gary, Penn Run, Pa.; two daughters, Darlene DeNelle, Palm Coast, and Deborah Rebholz, Pittsburgh; and six grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Florida Hospital Memorial HospiceCare, 770 W. Granada Blvd., Suite 319, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

John Oakley

DEC. 27, 1921 -- JUNE 12, 2004

DELEON SPRINGS -- John W. Oakley, 82, of Fox Hollow Road, an officer with the Miami Fire Department for 19 years before retiring, died Saturday at home.

Born in Montreal, Mr. Oakley, an Army veteran of World War II, moved here in 1980 from Miami. He was a member of the Masons, Florida Hospital-DeLand Auxiliary and the Miami and Dade County Fire Officers associations.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Phyllis; two sons, James, St. Petersburg, and John, Tampa; a daughter, Jerri Waller, DeLand; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mildred Pandolfi

MARCH 6, 1920 -- JUNE 12, 2004

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Mildred "Milly" Cowen Pandolfi, 84, of Lake Fairgreen Circle, a fourth grade and music teacher at Faulkner Street Elementary School before her retirement, died Saturday at Bert Fish Medical Center.

Mrs. Pandolfi moved here in 1928 from her native Sunnydale, Pa. She was a graduate of Mainland High School, Daytona Beach, and Stetson University. She was a member of First Baptist Church of New Smyrna Beach, where she was an organist for 54 years and a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Pandolfi also was a member of the New Smyrna Women's and Garden clubs and was a member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority.

Survivors include her husband, Matthew; a son, Stan Cowen, St. Petersburg; a stepson, Matthew Pandolfi, Watsonville, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Nancy Crawford, Franklin, N.C.; a brother, Robert Dickert, Jacksonville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 214 Sams Ave., New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168. Settle-Wilder, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Beverly Roberts

FEB. 3, 1928 -- JUNE 12, 2004

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Beverly Jean Roberts, 76, of Roberts Street, a neurological surgical nurse at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis for 30 years before her retirement, died Saturday at her niece's home on Flagler Avenue.

Mrs. Roberts was born in Racine, Wis., and moved here in 1981 from Indianapolis. Active at the Brannon Center, she enjoyed reading and gardening.

Survivors include three sons, David and John, both of Indianapolis, and Frank, Clay City, Ind.; two sisters, Joanne Presta and Rose Mortensen, both of Racine; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Baldwin Brothers is in charge.

Morris Robinson

MARCH 5, 1927 -- JUNE 11, 2004

PALM COAST -- Morris Robinson, 77, of Butternut Drive, who retired from the Flagler County Schools, died Friday at Florida Hospital-Flagler.

Mr. Robinson, an Army veteran of World War II, serving as an interpreter, was born in Sumter, S.C., and moved here in 1991 from Jamaica, N.Y. He was a firefighter in New York for 22 years and most recently worked for Flagler County Head Start. Mr. Robinson was a member of Apostolic Temple in New York, the African Culture Society, the Vulcan Men's Club of Florida for retired firemen, and the International Association of Black Professional Firefighters. He attended Delahante Institute of New York and spoke French, German and Spanish. He enjoyed playing tennis and chess, fencing, horseback riding, ice skating, skiing and playing the piano.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Stephanie; five sons, Mathew and Jonathon Robinson, both of Palm Coast; Morris James, Mesa, Ariz., Michael Robinson, Jefferson Valley, N.Y., and Mark Robinson, Brooklyn, N.Y.; two daughters, Lisa Ransom, Jacksonville, and Melissa Arnold, Clinton, Iowa; a brother, Edward, Davie; and 11 grandchildren. Gainous, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Pauline Walker

JAN. 26, 1921 -- JUNE 13, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Pauline Walker, 83, of South Street, a nursing assistant at Halifax Medical Center before her retirement, died Sunday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Mrs. Walker was born in Jackson, Tenn., and moved here in 1948 from Sanford. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and its Nursing and Pulpit Aide ministries.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Walker, New Smyrna Beach, and Wayne and Thallus Walker, both of Daytona Beach; three daughters, Pharistine Hampton, Daytona Beach, Marjorie Walker-Cooper, Rochester, N.Y., and Patricia Walker, Williamson, N.Y. a sister, Louise Wilson, Waldo; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Gainous is in charge.

Carrie WojtkowiakMAY 17, 1947 -- JUNE 11, 2004

PORT ORANGE -- Carrie M. "Candy" Wojtkowiak, 57, of Lemon Twist Lane, an owner of a janitorial firm, died Friday at Health Central Hospital, Ocoee.

Mrs. Wojtkowiak was born in Washington, Pa., and moved here in the 1970s from Jacksonville. She attended All Saints Lutheran Church. Named Volunteer of the Year in 1995, she helped with the public schools VIPS program and Spruce Creek Color Guard and was a member of the Sugar Mill Elementary School PTA.

Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Daniel; a daughter, Cory Wojtkowiak, Port Orange; and three sisters, Pam, Tryon, N.C., and Denise and Polly, both of Jacksonville. Phoenix Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.
