DEC. 24, 1934 -- FEB. 22, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- Carol Jayne Peludat, 70, of South Beach Street, a resident since 1959, died Tuesday at home.

Mrs. Peluday, a homemaker, was born in Hutchinson, Kan., and moved to this area from Berkley, Mich. She was a member of White Chapel Church of God, South Daytona, and former member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, South Daytona, where she was an organist.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald; three sons, Gerald, Port Orange, Charles, Edgewater, and Christopher, New Smyrna Beach; two daughters, Lisa Voll, Ormond Beach, and Carla Moorhouse, Port Orange; a brother, Carlton Payne, Bassett, Va.; a sister, Ernestine Weiss, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and 15 grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the White Chapel Church of God, 1730 S. Ridgewood Ave., South Daytona, FL 32119. Shannon Maloney, Port Orange, is in charge.

Henry Rousseau Jr.

SEPT. 8, 1932 -- FEB. 21, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Henry Frederick Rousseau Jr., 72, of Howe Street, who worked in the manufacturing industry, died Monday at Hospice Care Center.

Mr. Rousseau, an Air Force veteran, was born in New York City. He moved to this area from Virginia in 1998.

Survivors include his wife; a son; and a daughter. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Howard Snell

MARCH 22, 1940 -- FEB. 23, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Howard A. Snell, 64, who retired in 2001 as a law enforcement officer in Volusia County, died Wednesday at home.

Mr. Snell moved to this area in 1962 from his native Miami. He enjoyed woodworking, travel and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Joan; a son, Chuck, New Smyrna Beach; two daughters, Tammy Comstock, New Smyrna Beach, and Susan Edwards, San Antonio; seven brothers; a sister; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Lohman-Ormond, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Irwin Stein

JUNE 13, 1933 -- FEB. 23, 2005

PALM COAST -- Irwin Stein, 71, of Comanche Court, who retired after 42 years of service as an electrician from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 3, died Wednesday at home.

Mr. Stein, a Navy veteran of the Korean War, was born in the Bronx, N.Y., and came to this area in 1996 from Emerson, N.J. A 32nd Degree Mason, he also was a member of the Shriners, the Flagler Sports Fishing Club and a past commander and chaplain of the Penny Whitman Post No. 300 Jewish War Veterans. He enjoyed boating.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Lynne; a son, Mitchell, Courtland Manor, N.Y.; a daughter, Stacy Osak, Warwick, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Stewart F. Meyer Hospice House, co Florida Hospital Memorial HospiceCare, 770 W. Granada Blvd., Suite 102, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Diane Staiber

NOV. 8, 1957 -- JUNE 10, 2004

ORMOND BEACH -- Diane F. Staiber, 46, of Sea Harbor Drive, who worked for WORC and the Association of Retarded Citizens, died Thursday at The Arbors At Ormond Beach.

Ms. Staiber was born in Peekskill, N.Y., and moved here in 1980 from Yorktown Heights, N.Y. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. Ms. Staiber enjoyed square dancing, theatrical plays, traveling, baton twirling and music.

Survivors include her mother, Frances Staiber, Ormond Beach. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 111 N. Frederick Ave., Suite 100, Daytona Beach, FL 32114; or to St. James Episcopal Church, 44 S. Halifax Ave., Ormond Beach, FL 32176. Woodward, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Edward Walsh

AUG. 25, 1931 -- JUNE 10, 2004

PALM COAST -- Edward J. Walsh, 72, of Ryecrest Lane, a retired letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Auburn, N.Y., died Thursday at Florida Hospital-Flagler.

Mr. Walsh, an Army veteran, moved to this area from his native Auburn, his birthplace. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Korona, and the Utopia Club of Auburn.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Jane; three sons, Gerard, Newfield, N.Y., Edward "Ted, " Throop, N.Y., and Patrick, Syracuse, N.Y.; three daughters, Mary Pat Morgan, Wampsville, N.Y., and Kathleen Walsh and Judy Lynn, both of Auburn; and eight grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation of Central New York, 900 Mony Tower II, 120 Madison St., Syracuse, NY 13202. Heieck-Pelc Funeral Home, Auburn, is in charge.

Jeannette Bancroft
SEPT. 27, 1937 -- JUNE 13, 2004

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Jeannette June Bancroft, 66, of Roberta Lane, a retired tool and die production worker, died Sunday at home.

Mrs. Bancroft moved here in 1999 from Council Bluffs, Iowa, her birthplace. She enjoyed the beach, fishing and boating.

Survivors include a son, James Hawkins, Edgewater; five daughters, Deborah Johnson and Jeanette Menezes, both of New Smyrna Beach, Carol Peaker, Bakersfield, Calif., Donna Salacki, Alberta, and Patricia Fitzgerald, Marceline, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Joshua Bryant

DEC. 24, 1990 -- MAY 2001

DELTONA -- Joshua Roland Paul Bryant, of West Seagate Drive, who was 10 years old when he and his grandmother Lillian Martin disappeared on May 12, 2001. His remains were found June 4. in dense woods off Old Cassadaga Road.

Joshua was born in Daytona Beach. A longtime Deltona resident, he was a fourth grade student at Friendship Elementary School and a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Community. He enjoyed tae kwon do, swimming, wrestling and skateboarding.

Survivors include a brother, Arnie, Orlando; and two sisters, Joanne Miller, Deltona, and Brandy Bryant, Lynchburg, Tenn. Deltona Memorial, Orange City, is in charge.

Toy Carver

JUNE 25, 1929 -- JUNE 13, 204

FORT WHITE -- Toy R. Carver, 74, of Fort White, a former Orange City resident, died Sunday at home.

Mr. Carver, an Army veteran of the Korean War, was born in Dalton, Ga., and moved to this area as a boy. He was a security guard for Pinkerton Security before his retirement. He was a past president of the CB 99 Club. He enjoyed mechanics and woodworking.

Survivors include two sons, Alan and Roland, both of Fort White; two brothers, Johnny, Orange City, and Bill, Fort White; two sisters, Beatrice Warren, DeLand, and June Rowe, Lee; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Carpenter-Curry, DeLand, is in charge.

James Clifton

SEPT. 4, 1948 -- JUNE 10, 2004

DACULA, Ga. -- James Harmon Clifton, 55, of Dacula, a native of Daytona Beach, died Thursday at home.

Mr. Clifton, a breeder of paint horses in Lawrenceville, Ga., grew up north of Ormond Beach and graduated from Seabreeze High School.

Survivors include a brother, George, New Smyrna Beach; and two sisters, Callie Sheffield and Louise Mazzatto, both of Bunnell. Tim Stewart Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, is in charge.

Constance Coon

NOV. 26, 1918 -- JUNE 14, 2004

ORMOND BEACH -- Constance Lorraine Coon, 85, of Center Street, a resident since 1957, died Monday at Coquina Center.

Mrs. Coon, a homemaker, was born in Burlington, Vt., and came here from Waverly, N.Y.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Edward; three sons, Thomas, Holly Hill, Loren, Port Orange, and James, Seattle; four daughters, Charlotte Abbot, Ormond Beach, Laura Studer, South Daytona, Grace Jones, Port Orange, and Jackie Ebling, Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Charlotte Meyers, Burlington; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Genevieve Crouse

MARCH 11, 1927 -- JUNE 15, 2004

ORANGE CITY -- Genevieve E. Crouse, 77, of Poinsettia Drive, a native of Windber, Pa., died Tuesday at home.

Mrs. Crouse, a homemaker, moved here in 1986 from Sanford. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Southridge Women's Golf Association, both of DeLand.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur; a son, William Probst, Apopka; a daughter, Deborah Cerkowski, Umatilla; a stepdaughter, Cathy Rutherford, Darlington, Md.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Donald Davies

OCT. 11, 1909 -- JUNE 15, 2004

DELAND -- Donald M. Davies, 94, who taught Greek at Stetson University, died Tuesday at home.

Born in Minneapolis, Mr. Davies earned a master's degree from the University of Minnesota and a doctorate from Princeton Theological Seminary. While at Princeton, he was a neighbor of Albert Einstein. He was a missionary in Ethiopia for 10 years and returned there later to microfilm ancient manuscripts. Mr. Davies taught at Lincoln University in Oxford, Pa., for 19 years before moving here.

He spent his summers at his cottage on Lake Burridge in Ontario and enjoyed playing chess and tennis, reading and working crossword puzzles. He took up windsurfing in his 70s and learned computers in his 80s.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Shannon; three sons, Robert, Donald Jr., and Jonathan; two daughters, Mary and Elizabeth; a sister, Patricia Board; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandsons. Phoenix Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.
