Ike Parham

FEB. 4, 1912 -- JUNE 14, 2004

SEVILLE -- Ike Parham, 92, of Wilson Street, a retired worker in the citrus industry, died Monday at Coquina Center, Ormond Beach.

Mr. Parham moved here in 1937 from his native Warm Springs, Ga. He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where he was the senior deacon, a former Sunday school superintendent and a trustee. A Master Mason, serving as Worshipful Master of Cambridge Lodge No. 123. He graduated from Volusia County Junior College.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; four sons, Bernard, Seville, Ike Jr., Tampa, Luther, Oakland, Calif., and Duncan, Norman, Okla.; two daughters, Iris Johnson and Brenda Parham, both of Miami; a brother, William, Atlanta; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mack, DeLand, is in charge.

William Pevear

FEB. 28, 1920 -- JUNE 13, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- William B. Pevear, 84, of Plymouth Place, a former advertising sales representative for the Patriot Ledger, Quincy, Mass., died Sunday at Halifax Medical Center.

Mr. Pevear, a Coast Guard veteran of World War II, was born in Charlestown, Mass. He moved to this area in 1992 from Quincy. He also was an artist and cartoonist who drew sports cartoons for the Boston Garden, two that are now displayed in the Fleet Center in Boston.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betsey; a son, William Jr., Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Susan Morris, Arlington, Mass.; and two grandchildren. Cardwell & Maloney, Port Orange, is in charge.

Wallace Phillips

JULY 28, 1917 -- JUNE 13, 2004

DELTONA -- Wallace H. Phillips, 86, of Abagail Drive, who retired from the Air Force, died Sunday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Mr. Phillips, who also worked for the government as an auditor and certified public accountant, was born in Okeechobee. He lived in Holly Hill for 31 years, moving recently to Deltona. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Democratic Society, Civilian Conservation Corps and the Silver Hair Legislature, a lobby group in Tallahassee. Mr. Phillips graduated from Rollins College.

Survivors include his wife, Violet; a son, Ric, Deltona; a daughter, Patricia Phillips, Daytona Beach; a brother, Paul, Holly Hill; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.

Gregory Redding Jr.

MAY 5, 1984 -- JUNE 12, 2004

PORT ORANGE -- Gregory Allen Redding Jr., 20, of Ravenwood Drive, a tire technician and mechanic for Tire Kingdom, died Saturday from injuries sustained in an all terrain vehicle accident near U.S. 1, a half -mile north of Stacey Grove Road in Oak Hill.

Mr. Redding was born in New Smyrna Beach, and attended New Smyrna Beach High School. He enjoyed fixing electronic gadgets, music, especially Kid Rock, and fishing. He was also known for mastering video games, and his game name was "Venom".

Survivors include his father, Gregory, Oak Hill; his mother, Wendy Redding, Port Orange; and a brother, Christopher, and his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Hamblin, both of Daytona Beach. Settle-Wilder, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Anita Edwards

DEC. 29, 1933 -- OCT. 26, 2004

BUNNELL -- Anita Anna Edwards, 70, of Sugarbush Street, a resident since 2003, died Tuesday at Flagler Pines Nursing Home.

Born in Pittsburgh, Mrs. Edwards, a homemaker, came to this area from Miami. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, reading, fishing and animals.

Survivors include a son, Archie, Bunnell; three daughters, Anita Booth, Bunnell, Mary Freeland, Dexter, N.M., and Anna Francis, Davie; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Flagler Humane Society, 1 Shelter Drive, Palm Coast, FL 32135-5103. Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Willie Benwell

MAY 30, 1918 -- OCT. 27, 2004

MOUNT DORA -- Willie Kate Benwell, 86, mother of DeLand resident, Edward Benwell, died Wednesday at Florida Hospital DeLand.

Mrs. Benwell, a homemaker, was born in Douglas, Ga. She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church, Mount Dora.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Martha Benwell, Forsyth, Ga.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Mount Dora Building Fund, 1000 E. 1st Ave., Mount Dora, FL 32757. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

Marlene Christ

JAN. 23, 1952 -- OCT. 26, 2004

PORT ORANGE -- Marlene Ann Christ, 52, of Louisville Street, a former janitor, died Tuesday at Bishop's Glen Nursing Home, Holly Hill.

Mrs. Christ was born in Opalocka and moved to this area in 1990 from Dunnellon. She enjoyed tennis and studying the Bible.

Survivors include her husband, John, Lakeland; two sons, Christopher Capo, St. Augustine, and Joseph Capo, Port Orange; a daughter, Sarah Varnado, Holly Hill; three brothers, Joseph Hobbs, Miami, David Hobbs and Michael Hobbs, both of Dunnellon; and two grandchildren. Newlife Cremation, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Donald Hall

JAN. 10, 1952 -- OCT. 26, 2004

ORMOND BEACH -- Donald Hall, 52, of Lincoln Avenue, a former employee at Wilson's Diary, Detroit, and S.R. Perrott Co., Daytona Beach, died Tuesday at home.

Mr. Hall, a Marine Corps veteran, was born in Daytona Beach. He was a member of the former St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Ormond Beach.. He enjoyed photography.

Survivors include a son, Justin, Detroit; his mother, Mildred Hall, Ormond Beach; a brother, Arthur Hall, Daytona Beach; four sisters, Rosalyn Hall, Southfield, Mich., Doris Heard, Atlanta, Ga., DeborahSaunders, Daytona Beach, and Andrea Hall, Ormond Beach. Gainous, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Rolf Lewis

AUG. 20, 1921 -- OCT. 27, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Rolf H. Lewis, 83, of Jamestown Drive, a native of Laurel, Miss., died Wednesday at home.

Mr. Lewis, a Navy veteran of World War II, moved here in 2002 from New Mexico. He was a welder in the heavy equipment industry. He enjoyed playing his harmonica.

Survivors include two sons, Steven and Dwayne, both of Colorado; a daughter, Ann Lester, Daytona Beach; five brothers, Huey, Murry and Albert, all of New Mexico, James, Arizona, and Albert, Alabama; three sisters, Minnie Anderson, Mary Bassett and Onealue Oldom, all of New Mexico; and six grandchildren. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Mary Lou Miller

JUNE 25, 1922 -- OCT. 26, 2004

DELAND -- Mary Lou Miller, 82, of Parkway Drive, a former beauty salon owner, died Tuesday at The Cloisters, DeLand.

Mrs. Miller was born in Litchfield, Ill., and moved to this area in 1989 from Cottage Hills, Ill. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Star, Alton, Ill.

Survivors include a son Roy, DeLand; two brothers, Claude Dooley, LeMesa, Calif., and Thomas Dooley, St. Louis; two sisters, Katherine Hundley, Springfield, Ill., and Juanita Stokes, Litchfield; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.

Joseph Monteith

JULY 6, 1938 -- OCT. 26, 2004

DELTONA -- Joseph L. Monteith, 66, of Bestland Avenue, a self-employed auto mechanic, died Tuesday at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Orange City.

Mr. Monteith, an Air Force veteran, was born in North Troy, Vt., and moved to this area in 1999 from Plainfield, Vt. He enjoyed automobiles, hunting and bowling.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Irene; two sons, Michael, Mount Dora, and Mark, Plainfield; a daughter, Debra Monteith, Deltona; and two grandchildren. Baldauff, Orange City, is in charge.

Robert Morse

NOV. 19, 1922 -- OCT. 27, 2004

ORMOND BEACH -- Robert C. Morse, 81, of Broadmoor Circle, who worked in the auto body shop at Benjamin Pontiac in New York, died Wednesday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial.

Mr. Morse, an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II with the 386th fighter group, moved here in 1985 from his native, Freeport, N.Y. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and a past member of the American Legion, Freeport. He enjoyed refinishing antique furniture.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Edith; two stepsons, John Mallin, East Stroudsburg, Pa., and James Mallin, Montgomery, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Newlife Cremation is in charge.

Frank Nocella

APRIL 15, 1925 -- OCT. 26, 2004

ORMOND BEACH -- Frank Nocella, 79, Galty Circle, who formerly owned Eddington House Restaurant in Bensalem, Pa., died Tuesday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Beach.

Mr. Nocella, a Navy veteran of World War II, was born in Blackwood, N.J., and moved to this area two years ago from Tamarac. He enjoyed golfing and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Madeline; a son, Robert, Palm Coast; a daughter, Madeline Dranchak, Cinnaminson, N.J.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.
