MARCH 5, 1941 -- JULY 20, 2004

DELAND -- Mary P. Fletcher, 63, of South Gleneagles Drive, a resident since 1978, died Tuesday at Florida Hospital-DeLand.

Born in Springfield, Mass., Mrs. Fletcher, a homemaker, came to this area from Lighthouse Point. She was a graduate of Douglass College, New Brunswick, N.J., and a member of the DeLand Country Club.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Raymond; two daughters, Tammy Schlamp, Deltona, and Traci Bannon, Savannah, Ga.; and six grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to DeLand Lions Club, 400 N. Garfield Ave., DeLand, FL 32724. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.

Raymond Forrester

JULY 28, 1914 -- JULY 15, 2004

DELAND -- Raymond James Forrester, 89, of Chipola Avenue, a self-employed artist, died July 15 at home.

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Mr. Forrester moved to this area from St. Augustine over 10 years ago.

Survivors include a son, Murray, Kenora, Ontario; two sisters, Betty Williams, Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, and Linda Warner, Sudbury, Ontario; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

Mary Hoster

NOV. 28, 1916 -- JULY 13, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Mary Ellen Hoster, 87, of Williamson Boulevard, a resident since 1980, died July 13 at Indigo Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Hoster was born in Brooklet, Ga., and moved to this area from Goose Creek, S.C. She was member of the Eagles and Moose lodges, both of Ormond Beach. She enjoyed sewing, camping, dancing and being a homemaker.

Survivors include a grandniece, Cindy Locke, Palatka, who provided for her care. Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.

Joseph Huber

APRIL 21, 1933 -- JULY 21, 2004

PALM COAST -- Joseph H. Huber, 71, of Westfield Lane, a sheetmetal worker, died Wednesday at Florida Hospital-Flagler.

Mr. Huber, an Army veteran of the Korean War, was born in Wantagh, N.Y., and moved here 1989 from Lindenhurst, N.Y. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Palm Coast, the Knights of Columbus, and he was a 50-year member of Sheetmetal Workers Union Local 128. Mr. Huber enjoyed stock car racing.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary; two sons, Joseph, Lindenhurst, and Thomas, Bloomingburg, N.Y.; five daughters, Margaret Baker and Catherine Cirillo, both of Palm Coast, Dorothy Gurick, Centereach, N.Y., Patricia Eilers, Mastic, N.Y., and Mary Beth Heaphy, Lindenhurst; and 16 grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Florida Hospital Memorial HospiceCare, 770 W. Granada Blvd., Suite 319, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Clymer Cremation, Bunnell, is in charge.

Agnes Banks
OCT. 5, 1927 -- APRIL 14, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Agnes Banks, 77, of Elda Lane, a native of Germany, died Thursday at home.

Mrs. Banks, a homemaker, moved to Port Orange from Daytona Beach in 1977.

Survivors include three stepsons, William and John, both of Ormond Beach, and Scott, Lighthouse Point; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth Guinn, New Smyrna Beach, and Linda Skillern, Lakeland; and 12 stepgrandchildren. Cardwell & Maloney is in charge.

John Bowes

OCT. 30, 1941 -- APRIL 11, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- John E. Bowes, 63, of Westwood Avenue, the former owner of A-1 Exxon, died Monday at the Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Mr. Bowes, a veteran of the Marines, was born in Herrickville, Pa., and moved to this area in 1975 from New York.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Diane; a son, John Jr.; a daughter, Annette Kiep; his mother, Elizabeth Bowes; a brother, Eugene; two sisters, Annie Mathews and Alice Rodabaugh; three granddaughters; and three stepgrandchildren. Newlife Cremation, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Mary Cannon

OCT. 14, 1923 -- APRIL 13, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Mary Kathryn Cannon, 81, of South Atlantic Avenue, a resident since 1967, died Wednesday at home.

Mrs. Cannon, a homemaker, was born in Farmersville, Ill., and moved to this area from Fox Point, Wis. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the New Smyrna Beach Bridge Club.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, William; a son, Larry, Edgewater; three daughters, Carol Holloway, Denver, Mary-Helen Meister, North Prairie, Wis., and Susan Tepper, Lombard, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Shands Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 141260, Gainesville, FL 32614-1260, Dudley, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Charles Clark

FEB. 18, 1927 -- APRIL 14, 2005

PALM COAST -- Charles B. Clark, 78, of Crazy Horse Court, a native of Detroit, died Thursday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial.

Mr. Clark, a Navy veteran of World War II, moved here from Jupiter in 1987. He was a 32nd degree Mason and enjoyed sailing and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Dorothy; and two brothers, Norman, Lake Ann, Mich., and William, Grand Junction, Colo. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1620 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 300, Daytona Beach, FL 32119; or the Flagler Humane Society, 1 Shelter Drive, Palm Coast, FL 32135-5103; or to the charity of one's choice. David Ellis

SEPT. 16, 1916 -- APRIL 13, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- David Ellis, 88, of Village Trail, an assistant director with the New York Department of Motor Vehicles, Long Island, N.Y., died Wednesday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mr. Ellis was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and came here from Glen Cove, N.Y. He earned his bachelor's degree from City College of New York.

Survivors include three sons, Steven, Doswell, Va., Arthur, Pacific Palisades, Calif., and Stuart, Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Fran Bergen, Brookline, Mass.; and two grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1620 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 300, Daytona Beach, FL 32119. Haigh-Black, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Julia Graham

AUG. 16, 1917 -- APRIL 13, 2005

DELAND -- Julia R. Graham, 87, of North Amelia Avenue, the former owner of a fernery in West Volusia, and school bus driver for 28 years with the Volusia County School System, died Wednesday at home.

Mrs. Graham was born in Seville and was a lifetime resident of West Volusia. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Seville.

Survivors include a son, John, Deltona; and five grandchildren. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

Fred Hamilton

MAY 28, 1922 -- APRIL 13, 2005

DELAND -- Fred W. Hamilton, 82, of Palm Terrace, a retired sheet metal worker, died Wednesday at Ridgecrest Manor.

Mr. Hamilton, a Navy veteran of World War II, moved to this area in 1985 from Miami, his birthplace. He was a member of Stetson Baptist Church. He enjoyed landscaping, fishing and playing the guitar.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marion; a son, Rick, Daytona Beach; two daughters, Lynnell Hitchcock, Ocoee, and Carolyn Timcoe, Sunrise; three brothers, Lloyd, Frank and Clayton, all of Hollywood, Fla.; a sister, Maxine Mayer, Stuart; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.

Gertrude Huntington

MAY 4, 1916 -- APRIL 11, 2005

DELAND -- Gertrude Huntington, 88, of West Armstrong Avenue, a native of Richburg, N.Y., died Monday at Alliance Community Center for Health Care.

Mrs. Huntington moved to this area in 2004 from Orlando. She was a member of Grace Bible Church, Casselberry, and she enjoyed sewing and Bible study.

Survivors include a son, DeWitt, Winter Park; two daughters, Eloise Engler, Fern Park, and Janet Newcomer, Rockport, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Carpenter-Curry is in charge.

Donna Jewell

FEB. 18, 1920 -- APRIL 14, 2005

ORMOND-BY-THE-SEA -- Donna R. Jewell, 85, of Wisteria Drive, a retired real estate broker, died Thursday at Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial.

A native of Wayne, Ohio, Mrs. Jewell moved here from Los Angeles in 1975.

Survivors include a son, David, Ormond Beach; a brother, Russell McEwen, Wayne; a sister, Martha Waite, Ormond-by-the-Sea; and two grandchildren. Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.
