Norman Beauchamp

MARCH 23, 1935 -- AUG. 2, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Norman T. Beauchamp, 69, of Mason Avenue, who owned and operated Mid-Florida Sign Co. for 30 years, died Monday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial.

Mr. Beauchamp, a Navy veteran, came here in 1956 from his birthplace, Woburn, Mass. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include two sons, Norman Jr., Palm Coast, James, Daytona Beach; a daughter, Dana Utter-Walters, Ormond Beach; a sister, Claire Finlay, Marlboro, Mass.; and three grandchildren. Hannah Cremation, Holly Hill, is in charge.

Linda Dittman

OCT. 6, 1944 -- AUG. 4, 2004

SOUTH DAYTONA -- Linda Etheridge Dittman, 59, of Chicago Avenue, a native of Selma, Ala., died Wednesday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mrs. Dittman, a homemaker, moved here in 1960 from Selma, Ala., her birthplace. She was a 1964 graduate of Mainland High School. She enjoyed bowling.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Robert; a son, Boo, Port Orange; a daughter, Tammy Liles, Daytona Beach; her parents, Nellie and Sam Etheridge, South Daytona, and four grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Port Orange Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 840 Taylor Road, Port Orange, FL 32127. Lohman-Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Betty Kirkpatrick

JUNE 6, 1930 -- AUG. 3, 2004

DELAND -- Betty J. Kirkpatrick, 74, of South Orange Avenue, a resident since 1993, died Tuesday at Florida Hospital-DeLand.

Ms. Kirkpatrick was born in Sullivan County, Pa., and moved here from Virginia. She enjoyed reading bowling and cooking.

Survivors include two sons, Harry II, DeLand, and Linde, Germany; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Carpenter-Curry is in charge.

Nikki Lutz

JULY 4, 1935 -- AUG. 3, 2004

DELAND -- Nikki L. Lutz, 69, of North Hill Avenue, a spiritual counselor in Cassadaga, died Tuesday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Mrs. Lutz, who formerly owned and operated a restaurant in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, was born in Detroit and moved here in 1989 from Daytona Beach.

Survivors include a son, Michael Santrizos, Durham, N.C.; a daughter, Tianne Batson, Portland, Ore.; her mother, Stella Bliss, Delray Beach; and a brother, Andrew Lambros, Indianapolis. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

George McDonough

OCT. 29, 1909 -- JULY 27, 2004

DELAND -- George J. McDonough, 94, of South Spring Garden Avenue, a railroad clerk for many years, died July 27 at Florida Lutheran Retirement Center.

Mr. McDonough, an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II who participated in the Battle of the Bulge, was born in Alexandria, Va. He retired from the Virginia National Guard after 41 years of service. He also owned his own transport business. Mr. McDonough was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the American Legion, Retired Enlisted Association, and 84th Division Railsplitters.

Survivors include a brother, Joseph, DeLand; and three sisters, Mary Jenkins and Anna Anderson, both of Alexandria, and Amelia Poppin, Arlington, Va. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

Leonard Mack

DEC. 13, 1918 -- AUG. 4, 2004

DELAND -- Leonard M. Mack, 85, of Knot Way, a court reporter for 40 years for the State of Illinois and U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, died Wednesday at home.

Mr. Mack, an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Aleutian Islands, was born in Chicago and moved here in 1990 from Champaign, Ill. He attended the Professional Secretarial School in San Francisco. An athlete, Mr. Mack also enjoyed music, especially classical and barbershop quartet.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Colleen; a daughter, Sara Baker, Sullivan, Ill.; a brother, Sam Maccarrone, Seattle; a sister, Josephine Scott, Jackson, Miss.; and a grandchild. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

Brian Mitchell

JUNE 14, 1972 -- JULY 13, 2004

HOLLY HILL -- Brian R. Mitchell, 32, of Jasmine Avenue, a welder, died July 13 at home.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Fresno, Calif.

No known immediate relatives survive. Newlife Cremation, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Marian Pavlik

MAY 12, 1921 -- AUG. 2, 2004

DELTONA -- Marian R. Pavlik, 83, of Gainsboro Street, a resident since 1980, died Monday at Central Florida Regional Hospital, Sanford.

Mrs. Pavlik, a homemaker, was born in Chicago. She was a member of Ladies of the Moose and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, Mark, Deltona, and Paul, Tyler, Texas; a sister, Henrietta Norsic, Glen Ellyn, Ill.; and a granddaughter. Baldauff, Orange City, is in charge.

Dorothy Storey

MAY 13, 1917 -- AUG. 4, 2004

DELAND -- Dorothy Pague Storey, 87, of Royal Poinciana Avenue, a resident since 2002, died Wednesday at Florida Hospital-DeLand.

Mrs. Storey, a homemaker, was born in Covington, Tenn., and moved here from Augusta, Ga.

Survivors include a son, Edgar, Bristol, Tenn.; two daughters, Sandra Goodwin, DeLand, and Judieth Berry, North Augusta, S.C.; a brother, Bill Herrington, Memphis, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

Danny Webb II

APRIL 24, 1979 -- AUG. 2, 2004

EDGEWATER -- Danny Wayne Webb II, 25, of Lime Tree Drive, a restaurant manager at the Holiday Inn in New Smyrna Beach, died Monday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident June 16 on Umbrella Tree Drive.

Mr. Webb was a native of New Smyrna Beach and a lifelong area resident. He enjoyed fishing, boating, cooking, playing pool and riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include his fiancee, Brandy Bridges, Edgewater, and his sons, Nolan and Jaden, all of Edgewater; his father, Danny, Mims; his mother, Mary Webb, Edgewater; two sisters, Kaitlin Webb, Edgewater, and Melissa Webb, New Bedford, Mass.; and his grandparents, Jack and Frances Smith, New Smyrna Beach. Baldwin Brothers, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Candida Widdrington

AUG. 29, 1927 -- AUG. 2, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Candida R. Widdrington, 76, of Golfview Boulevard, a resident since 1980, died Monday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Mr. Widdrington, a homemaker, was born in Esteli, Nicaragua, and moved here from Australia. She was a member of the Peninsula Women's Club, the Newcomers Club and the Port Orange Bridge Club. She enjoyed travel.

Survivors include three daughters, Violet Rosado, Daytona Beach, Jo Woodfine, Port Orange, and Rose Turk, Owasso, Okla.; two brothers, Policarpio Lopez, Miami, and Cleto Lopez, Nicaragua; two sisters, Haydee Lopez and Guillermina Lopez, both of Nicaragua; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Volusia Memorial, Port Orange, is in charge.

Dennis O'Donnell, 53, dies

Cpl. Dennis O'Donnell, 53, an Ormond Beach police officer for 23 years before his retirement, died Sunday at his caregiver's home in Ormond Beach.

O'Donnell, a native of Philadelphia, moved here from Indiana in 1976. An Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, he retired March 31 from the Ormond Beach Police Department.

Officers described O'Donnell as a "likeable fellow" who "didn't have an enemy in the world."

"He was such a good-hearted guy that he didn't like writing tickets because it was 'taking money out of people's pockets, ' " said Sgt. Jamie Gogarty, who worked with O'Donnell for 21 years.

"He was a fantastic guy that would do anything to help, " said Sgt. George Coluccio, who was a best friend of O'Donnell for 23 years. "He will be greatly missed around the station."

Gogarty said O'Donnell was very health-conscious. "He was a father figure to a lot of young officers when it came to health, " he said.

O'Donnell is survived by a son, Devon, and a daughter, Megan O'Donnell, both of Ormond Beach; two sisters, Diane McKenzie, Jacksonville, and Debra Stevens, Evansville, Ind.; and his former wife, Vicki O'Donnell, Ormond Beach, who provided for his care.

Memorial services for O'Donnell will be held Thursday at Tomoka Christian Church, 1151 West Granada Blvd., at 3 p.m. Lohman-Ormond is in charge.

A procession of emergency vehicles will leave Riverbend Community Church, 2080 W. Granada at 2:15 p.m., traveling to Tomoka Christian Church. The large number of police vehicles expected to participate in the procession may cause traffic delays along the procession route and in the area of the church.

Memorial donations in O'Donnell's honor may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
