Christopher Williams

DEC. 23, 1913 -- JULY 28, 2004

DELAND -- Christopher Whitmore Williams, 90, of South High Street, a former employee of Stetson University, died Wednesday at Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial, Orange City.

Mr. Williams was born in San Sovano, Bahamas. He was a member of Emanuel Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Cynthia Williams, Maxine Williams-Clark, Greta Williams-Meadows and Valerie Williams, all of Nassau, Bahamas; and 10 grandchildren. Mack is in charge.

Robert Bell
NOV. 28, 1923 -- AUG. 12, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Robert T. Bell, 80, of Model Street, who worked for the City of Daytona Beach before his retirement, died Thursday at Halifax Medical Center.

Mr. Bell, an Army veteran, moved here in 1945 from his native Hawthorne. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Mr. Bell enjoyed watching baseball and telling jokes.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary Bell, Jacksonville; a brother, Cecil, San Mateo; a sister, Janie Butler, St. Petersburg; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a nephew, William Bell, Daytona Beach, who provided for his care. Thompson is in charge.

Elizabeth Boehme

NOV. 1, 1918 -- AUG. 10, 2004

DELTONA -- Elizabeth Weider Boehme, 85, of Portview Avenue, who worked in retail sales in cosmetics at Avellone Pharmacy, Bay Village, Ohio, died Tuesday at Halifax Medical , Daytona Beach.

Mrs. Boehme was born in Springfield, Ohio, and moved here in 1981 from Bay Village. She was a member of Deltona Presbyterian Church and sang in its choir. Mrs. Boehme attended Ohio State University.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Gordon; a son, Richard, San Jacinto, Calif.; and a daughter, Carol, Columbus, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 1620 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 300, Daytona Beach, FL 32114; or Deltona Presbyterian Church, Deltona, FL 32725. Baldauff, Orange City, is in charge.

Shirley Cooper

FEB. 2, 1933 -- AUG. 13, 2004

PORT ORANGE -- Shirley A. Cooper, 71, a native of Canonsburg, Pa., died Friday at Hospice Care Center.

Mrs. Cooper was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Swanee Valley RV Club.

Survivors include her husband, Charles; a son, Barry Sharp, Morrow, Ga.; a daughter, Sherri Sprowls, Amity, Pa.; a brother, David Chambers, Port Orange; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Everhart Funeral Home, Richmond, Ohio, is in charge.

Rev. Cecil Ogg

AUG. 20, 1907 -- AUG.12, 2004

DEBARY -- The Rev. Cecil N. Ogg, 96, of Lucerne Drive, former pastor of Methodist churches in Holly Hill, Enterprise and DeBary, died Thursday at Shands Hospital, Gainesville.

Rev. Ogg, who also served in other churches in Florida, was born in Berea, Ky., and moved to Florida in 1959 from Kentucky. He was a member of the Kentucky and Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. Rev. Ogg graduated from Asbury College, Wilmore, Ky.

Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Foster, Gaffney, S.C., Janette Ogg, Winchester, Va., and Paula Ogg, Williston; a sister, Hazel Robinson, Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Community United Methodist Church, 41 W. Highbanks Road, DeBary, FL 32713. Deltona Memorial, Orange City, is in charge.

Cornelia Riechman

MARCH 17, 1918 -- AUG. 13, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Cornelia E. Riechman, 86, of Golden Eye Drive, a resident since 1982, died Friday at home.

Mrs. Riechman, a homemaker, was born in New Minden, Ill., and moved here from Centralia, Ill. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, South Daytona, and a graduate of the University of Illinois. Mrs. Riechman enjoyed playing golf and bridge.

Survivors include a son, Thomas, Makinda, Ill.; a daughter, Nancy DeStefano, Port Orange; a brother, Richard Eirich, Santa Ana, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.

George Schomburger

JUNE 17, 1920 -- AUG. 13, 2004

DELTONA -- George John Schomburger, 84, of West Finland Drive, a native of Pittsburgh, died Friday at home.

Mr. Schomburger, a foreman in building construction before his retirement, moved here in 1975 from Long Island, N.Y. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and Labor Union Local No. 66.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Hilde, and a sister, Ruth Blacka, Pittsburgh. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 555 W. Granada Blvd., Suite A-1, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Baldauff, Orange City, is in charge.

Floyd Shoup

FEB. 5, 1924 -- AUG. 11, 2004

SOUTH DAYTONA -- Floyd D. Shoup, 80, of George Hecker Drive, a former professional roller skating teacher, died Wednesday at Port Orange Health and Rehabilitation Center, Port Orange.

Mr. Shoup was born in Washington, Pa., and moved to this area in 1994 from Canonsburg, Pa. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 2723, the Society of Roller Skating Teachers and the Roller Skating Rink Operators of America. Mr. Shoup, who taught numerous national skating champions, was the former owner of several roller skating centers throughout Pennsylvania.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Janet; a daughter, Linda Miner, Donora, Pa.; a brother, Melvin, Washington; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Hubert Williams Jr.

MARCH 1, 1937 -- AUG. 12, 2004

DELAND -- Hubert Odell "Hugh" Williams Jr., 67, of Winnemissett Drive, owner of the historic Grant Bly House, died Thursday at Florida Hospital-South, Orlando, following a two-year battle with cancer.

Mr. Williams, a Navy veteran of the Korean War, was born in Shelby, N.C., and moved here in 1962 from California. He previously was owner of the Other Place Night Club chain, Real McCoy and Williams Associates Development Co. He worked as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, building roads in the Ocala National Forest. Mr. Williams was a former member of the Veterans of Wars and Water Board, both in Astor and was actively involved the Fall Festival of the Arts. An avid stock car racing fan, he also enjoyed restoring classic cars.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Debbie; a daughter, Rhonda Berardesco, Hartwell, Ga.; and a granddaughter. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 1333 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL 32804. Beyers, Astor, is in charge.

Frankie Anderson

AUG. 9, 1925 -- AUG. 11, 2004

INVERNESS -- Frankie Williams Anderson, 79, of Inverness, the sister of DeLand residents, Theola and Donald Footman, died Wednesday at Citrus Healthcare & Rehabilitation, Inverness.

Mrs. Anderson, a former private duty housekeeper, was born in Homerville, Ga.

Additional survivors include, four brothers, Ralph Williams, Mulberry, Earl Williams, Gainesville, Cyrus Footman, Greenwood Lakes, N.Y., James Footman, Hillside, N.J. Mack, DeLand, is in charge.

Fernando DaSilva

JULY 19, 1932 -- AUG. 12, 2004

PALM COAST -- Fernando T. DaSilva, 72, of Farrington Lane, the former owneroperator of DaSilva Fuel & Oil, died Thursday in Palm Coast at the home of his care giver, Ruth Pipkins.

Mr. DaSilva was born in Marco de Canavezes, Portugal, and moved to this area in 1994 from Danbury, Conn. He was a member of Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing and gardening.

Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Romer, Palm Coast, and Ann Marie DaSilva, Bethel, Conn.; two brothers, Frank, Danbury, and Antonio Teixeira, Portugal; and a grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Robert Ditslear

DEC. 24, 1919 -- AUG. 13, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Robert E. Ditslear, 84, of Mason Avenue, who retired in 1982 as an accountant for Girton Auto Parts, Winchester, Ind., died Friday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Beach.

Mr. Ditslear, a Navy veteran of World War II, was born in Tiffin, Ohio, and moved to Volusia County in 1999 from Winchester. He earned his degree in accounting from Tiffin University. Mr. Ditslear was a member of First Christian Church of DeLand, where he was an honorary deacon. He also was a deacon for 47 years at Mainstreet Christian Church in Winchester. He volunteered at the White River Fire Department, Winchester.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Leota; a son Robert Jr., DeLand; a brother, Harry, Lake Havasu, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, 1401 W. New York Ave., DeLand, FL 32720. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

Joey Ennis

DEC. 21, 1961 -- AUG. 12, 2004

DELAND -- Joey Ennis, 42, of West Howry Avenue, a native and lifelong resident of DeLand, died Thursday at Florida Hospital-DeLand.

Mr. Ennis was a self employed construction worker.

Survivors include his father, Robert; his mother, Lou Scott, and a brother, Robert "Rob", both of DeLand; two sisters, Missy Scott, DeLand, and Mandy Rowe, Denver. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.
