Marie Utterbaugh

DEC. 2, 1918 -- FEB. 25, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- Marie E. Utterbaugh, 86, of Sea Duck Circle East, a resident since 1984, died Friday at home.

Born in Baltimore, Mrs. Utterbaugh, a homemaker, moved here from Lutherville-Timonium, Md. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and Hillendale Country, Pelican Bay and the Palmetto clubs. An artist, she also enjoyed playing bridge, sewing and golf.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Roland; a son, Roland Jr., Belair, Md.; two daughters, Debra "D.J." Clements, Daytona Beach, and Gail Nierman, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Lohman-Ormond, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

James Corcoran

FEB. 14, 1921 -- AUG. 21, 2004

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- James V. Corcoran, 83, of Citrus Open Drive, a patrolman for the New York City Police Department before his retirement, died Saturday at Doctor's Hospital, Nassau, Bahamas, while vacationing with his family.

Mr. Corcoran, an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, who retired as a major from the Air Force Reserves, was born in New York City. He moved here in 1984 from Belle Harbor, N.Y. Mr. Corcoran was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he served as a lector and was a member of the Men's Club, and the Fairgreen Homeowner's Association.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Rita; two sons, James and Robert, both of Westbury, N.Y.; three daughters, Janet Corcoran, Zionsville, Pa., Rita Corcoran, Florence, S.C., and Ann Piovano, Gillette, N.J.; a sister, Ann Nugent, Hempstead, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, P.O. Box 729, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32170. Dudley, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Frank del Pino

AUG. 11, 1922 -- AUG. 23, 2004

ORMOND BEACH -- Frank del Pino, 82, of Athlone Way, a native of Camaguey, Cuba, died Monday at Florida Hospital-Flagler, Palm Coast.

Mr. del Pino moved here in 2000 from Palm Coast. He worked at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and as a salesman in Detroit and for the Miami Rug Co. He also owned the Doral Carpet Co., also in Miami. He was a member of Palm Coast Resort and Halifax Plantation Golf Club and the Elks. Mr. del Pino was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Gloria; and two sisters, Suncia Torrens, Havana, Cuba, and Maruca Trujillo, Miami. Memorial donations may be made to Florida Hospital Memorial HospiceCare, 770 W. Granada Blvd., Suite 319, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Delvin Dillard Jr.

AUG. 2, 2004 -- AUG. 21, 2004

PORT ORANGE -- Delvin Rashad Dillard Jr., 19 days, the infant son of India Holguin, Port Orange, and Delvin Dillard, DeLeon Springs, died Saturday at Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville, following a short illness.

Baby Delvin was born in Daytona Beach.

Additional survivors include a brother, Jock, and two sisters, Kanisha and Lanisha Dillard, all of Crescent City; paternal grandfather, Jeffery Dillard, Jacksonville; paternal grandmother, Cathy Fabian, DeLeon Springs; maternal grandfather, Mateo Holguin, Atlantic City, N.J.; and maternal grandmother, Lisa Wallace, Orlando. Altman-Long, DeBary, is in charge.

Thomas DiPlacido

OCT. 9, 1917 -- AUG. 24, 2004

ORMOND BEACH -- Thomas C. DiPlacido, 86, of Fir Court, a cabinetmaker for National Products of Philadelphia before his retirement, died Tuesday at Bridgeview Nursing Home.

Mr. DiPlacido, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in Philadelphia. He lived in Oak Hill from 1976 to 2000 when he moved here. Mr. DiPlacido was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Elks Lodge No. 1557, both in New Smyrna Beach, the Lions Club in West Berlin, N.J., and Carpenters Union Local No. 1130, Philadelphia.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Clara; three sons, David, Orlando, Paul, Sarasota, and Thomas, Casa Grande, Ariz.; a daughter, Donna McClendon, Ormond Beach; a sister, Rae DiBruno, Philadelphia; and two grandchildren, including Jeanne Mahoney, Ormond Beach, who provided for his care. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 111 N. Frederick Ave., Suite 100, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Dudley, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Elizabeth Doran

JUNE 17, 1924 -- AUG. 23, 2004

PALM COAST -- Elizabeth Mary Doran, 80, of Wellwood Lane, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Monday at Florida Hospital-Flagler.

Mrs. Doran, a homemaker, moved here in 1975 from Stonybrook, N.Y. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Mrs. Doran was an avid bowler.

Survivors include two sons, John, Palm Coast, and Richard, Stonybrook; two daughters, Kathleen Weber, Centereach, N.Y., and Patricia Garca, Roswell, Ga.; and three grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Marty Lyon Foundation, 326 W. 48th St., New York, N.Y. 10036. Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Eleanor Ford

SEPT. 22, 1924 -- AUG. 19, 2004

ORMOND BEACH -- Eleanor J. Ford, 79, of Silk Oaks Drive, a native of Nova Scotia, died Thursday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mrs. Ford, a retired loan officer, moved here in 1960 from Coatesville, Pa. She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, singing and dancing.

Survivors include a son, Donald, Holly Hill; a daughter, Donna Johnson, Palm Bay; a sister, Mildred Evans, St. Petersburg; and a grandchild. Volusia County Cremation, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Gracie Hoopes

JUNE 22, 1925 -- AUG. 22, 2004

SOUTH DAYTONA -- Gracie R. Hoopes, 79, of Green Acres Circle South, a retired assembly worker for United Technology, Columbus, Miss., died Sunday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mrs. Hoopes moved to this area in 1990 from her native Columbus. She was a member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed travel, gardening, reading and Bible study.

Survivors include her husband, James; a son, Jeffery, Manassas, Va.; a daughter, Glenda Glynda, Key West; a sister, Frances Trepanier, Columbus; and four grandchildren. Lohman-Daytona, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Althea Karl

JULY 15, 1929 -- AUG. 23, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Althea Karl, 75, of Hillside Avenue, a former stewardess with Eastern Airlines, died Monday at Halifax Medical Center.

Mrs. Karl, who also worked as a front desk receptionist for local hotels, was born in Danville, Texas, and moved here in 1972 from Texas. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and enjoyed sewing, cooking and travel.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey, Palm Coast, and Michael, San Diego; a sister, Delphia Boyter, Daytona Beach, and a grandchild. Haigh-Black, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Gail Kear

JULY 1, 1938 -- AUG. 17, 2004

ASTOR -- Gail Leona Patterson Kear, 66, of Hyacinth Road, a retired supervisor for the Florida Department of Transportation, died Aug. 17 at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mrs. Kear was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and moved to this area in 1995 from Christmas. She was an avid Rusty Wallace fan.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Herbert; a son, Kevin, Astor; two daughters, Cheryl Hall-Bulleman, DeBary, and Joyce Hayes, Hilton Head Island, S.C.; two brothers, Gerry Patterson, Apopka, and Ken Patterson, California; and two grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Cruzin to Cure, 95 Matthews Drive, Suite 108, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

Diana Keirn

OCT. 12, 1949 -- AUG. 23, 2004

DELEON SPRINGS -- Diana Lee Keirn, 54, of Reynolds Road, a self-employed seamstress, who created costumes for Civil War re-enactments, died Monday at her caregiver's home in DeLand.

Ms. Keirn, a native of Daytona Beach, was a member of Bible Baptist Church, DeLand. She enjoyed animals.

Survivors include two sons, Adam Boyington, Bunnell, and Arron Ayotte, Arizona; her mother and stepfather, Joice and Forrest McFadden; a brother, Rodney McFadden, Bunnell; and two sisters, Florita Keirn, DeLeon Springs, and Toni McFadden, South Carolina. Memorial donations may be made to The Missions, 872 Glenwood Road, DeLand, FL 32720. Carpenter-Curry, DeLand, is in charge.

Anthony Mandese

AUG. 11, 1947 -- AUG. 24, 2004

DELAND -- Anthony "Tony" Mandese, 57, of Old Daytona Road, a bank branch manager for 31 years, died Tuesday at Florida Hospital-DeLand.

Mr. Mandese, who also worked as a car salesman, was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and moved here in 1957 from New York. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, DeLand Jaycees, Deltona Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus, DeLand Little League and the DeLand Babe Ruth League.

Survivors include his wife Patricia; two sons, Louis, DeBary, and Anthony, DeLand; two daughters, Angela Mandese, DeLand, and Shannon Mandese, DeBary; two brothers, Angelo, DeLand, and Louis, Orlando; and three grandchildren. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.

Heriberto Milan

SEPT. 18, 1983 -- AUG. 21, 2004

DELEON SPRINGS -- Heriberto Milan, 20, of Johnson Lake Road, a landscaper working in Bunnell, died Saturday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on U.S. 17.

Mr. Milan moved here in 1984 from his native Mexico. He enjoyed playing pool and video games.

Survivors include his wife of three years, Hortencia; a son, Jason, DeLeon Springs; his parents Floriberto and Hirma Milan; five brothers, Jose Cisneros and Alex Milan, both of DeLand, Manuel and Omar Milan, both of Barberville, and Raymond Milan, Pennsylvania; and five sisters, Irma Cisneros, DeLeon Springs, Leticia Cisneros and Lorena Milan, both of DeLand, Irene Milan, Colorado, and Noemi Milan, Mexico. Carpenter-Curry, DeLand, is in charge.
