Raymond Miller

JULY 28, 1913 -- AUG. 18, 2004

ORANGE CITY -- Raymond Miller, 91, of East Graves Avenue, a government supervisor who retired after 26 years in Washington, D.C., died Aug. 18 at Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial.

Mr. Miller, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in Overall, Va. He enjoyed stock car racing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Annie; two sons, Larry Wheeler, Gambrills, Md., and Wayne Wheeler, Woodstock, Md.; two daughters, Faye Van Hassel, Glen Burnie, Md., and Deborah Sulier, Keystone Heights; two sisters, Pauline Dezerne, Jessup, Md., and Charlotte, Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1041 Route 3 North Blvd. A-1, Gambrills, MD 21054. Singleton Funeral Home, Glen Burnie, is in charge.

James Stubblefield

JULY 27, 1929 -- AUG. 23, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- James G. Stubblefield, 75, of Plantation Place, a computer programmer who retired after 35 years with IBM, died Monday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Mr. Stubblefield, an Army veteran of the Korean War, was born in Viola, Tenn., and moved here in 2000 from Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Milly; a daughter, Sandy Stubblefield, Viola; two brothers, Charles, Gastonia, N.C., and Herman, Birmingham, Ala.; a sister, Sarah Collier, Elgin, Okla.; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Richard Eberle
AUG. 19, 1918 -- SEPT. 17, 2004

HOLLY HILL -- Richard J. Eberle, 86, of Ridgewood Avenue, who retired from a corporation in Philadelphia that made television and radio towers, died Friday at St. Joseph Hospital, Chicago.

Mr. Eberle was born in Kansas City, Kan., and came to this area in 1980 from Philadelphia. He was a member of Ormond Beach Unitarian Universalist Society. Mr. Eberle was a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass., and Yale University, New Haven, Conn.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mildred; a son, Richard Jr., Chicago; two daughters, Karen Strano, Woodstock, Ill., and Shelly Ege, Naples; two brothers, Byron, La Jolla, Calif., and Hugh, Albuquerque, N.M.; and a grandchild. Cremation Society of Illinois, Chicago, is in charge.

Clara Eckard

MAY 26, 1933 -- SEPT. 22, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Clara E. Eckard, 71, of Hillside Avenue, a resident since 1984, died Wednesday at the Regency House Skilled Nursing Facility.

Mrs. Eckard, a homemaker, was born in Norway, Maine, and moved here from Chicago. She was a member of Seabreeze United Church, Footloose Singles Dance Group, Museum of Arts and Sciences, Tomoka Gem and Minerals, Karnack Court Ladies Oriental Shrine, Friends of the Library, Sons of the Beach, Junior League of Western Springs, Ill., the Women's Club and the Infant Welfare Association and the Rose Society, both of Illinois. She also was a den mother of the Boy Scouts of America and a deaconess of the Lyonsville United Church, Illinois. Mrs. Eckard enjoyed dancing, making jewelry and gardening.

Survivors include a son, Peter Richardson, Daytona Beach; three daughters, Cathy Moody, Ormond-by-the-Sea, Sherri Meekins, Flagler Beach, and Patti Richardson, Lansing, Ill.; a brother, Robert Emerson, Bartlette, N.H.; a sister, Mary Emerson, Noble, Maine; and a grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1620 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 300, Daytona Beach, FL 32119. Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.

Elizabeth Grisdale

FEB. 20, 1913 -- SEPT. 22, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Elizabeth P. Grisdale, 91, of Wilder Boulevard, who retired in 1978 as a secretary for Grisdale's Motor Tours, Norristown, Pa., died Wednesday at Manor on the Green.

Mrs. Grisdale was born in Mont Clare, Pa., and moved to this area in 1996 from Norristown. She was a member of the Mary Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church, North Wales, Pa. She enjoyed knitting, singing, listening to baseball games on the radio, cooking, shopping and driving in the car for hours.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Jr., Daytona Beach, and Robert, Souderton, Pa.; two daughters, Elizabeth Ferguson, Daytona Beach, and Anna Marie Ferrant, Denver; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Shannon, Port Orange, is in charge.

Clifford Howell

NOV. 25, 1925 -- SEPT. 22, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Clifford Dale Howell, 78, of Mayflower Drive, a retired management analyst for the State of Illinois, died Wednesday at home.

Mr. Howell, a veteran of the Army Air Forces during World War II, and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War, was born in Paris, Ill. He moved to this area in 1980 from Springfield, Ill. He was a member of Colony Community Church, the American Legion Post 270, Port Orange, the Moose Club, Ormond Beach, and a lifetime member of the Air Force Sergeants Association.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Dorothy; and a sister, Nadine Starbuck, Paris, Ill. Shannon, Port Orange, is in charge.

MaryEllen Mirasola

JAN. 21, 1913 -- SEPT. 16, 2004

ORMOND BEACH -- MaryEllen Mirasola, 91, of River Oak Drive, a former registered nurse, died Sept. 16 at home.

Mrs. Mirasola, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in Ohio, and moved to this area in 1974. She enjoyed sewing and reading.

Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Dobbins, Bradenton. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Lohman-Daytona Beach is in charge.

Erin O'Connor

SEPT. 13, 1960 -- SEPT. 22, 2004

ORANGE CITY -- Erin Ann O'Connor, 44, of West Lansdowne Avenue, a bartender, died Wednesday at home.

Mrs. O'Connor was born in Coos Bay, Ore. She enjoyed dancing, riding motorcycles, 4-wheeling, whitewater rafting, scuba diving, music and her mouse collection.

Survivors include her husband, John; two daughters, Carrie-Leigh and Kasey-Lynne O'Connor, her parents, Duane and Lynne Mumford, and a brother, Shawn Mumford, all of Orange City; three sisters, Kelly Clay, Orange City, Krissy Norris, Georgia, and Angie Mumford, New York; and her maternal grandmother, Alberta Fuller, DeLeon Springs. Martha Pasquale

NOV. 6, 1941 -- SEPT. 23, 2004

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Martha Munley Pasquale, 62, of Gleneagles Drive, a retired registered nurse, died Thursday at the Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Mrs. Pasquale, a graduate of Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital Nursing School, was born in Scranton, Pa., and moved to this area in 1995 from Baltimore. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sugar Mill Country Club. She enjoyed bridge and golf.

Survivors include her husband, R.J.; a son, John, Fredericksburg, Va.; two daughters, Elizabeth Sakhevich, Belleville, Ontario, and Margaret Foley, Spotsylvania, Va.; a sister, Mary Borthwick, New Hope, Pa.; and five grandchildren. Baldwin Brothers Memorial is in charge.

Timothy Schult

DEC. 30, 1968 -- SEPT. 23, 2004

HOLLY HILL -- Timothy Michael Schult, 35, of 10th Street, a former waiter, died Thursday at home following a long illness.

Mr. Schult was born in Wasa, Wis., and moved to this area in 1998 from Dallas. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, boating, travel, country music and collecting crystals, music boxes and statues of dragons and wizards.

Survivors include his companion of eight years, Tom Gilland; his parents, Ronald and Carolyn Schult, two brothers, Jimmy and Bobby, a sister, Tammy Schoepke, and his paternal grandmother, Lorna Schult, all of Merrill, Wis. Newlife Cremation, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Glenda Timmons

MAY 4, 1951 -- SEPT. 22, 2004

DELAND -- Glenda Ann Freeman Timmons, 53, of Evergreen Terrace, a native of Frankfort, Germany, died Wednesday at home.

Ms. Timmons, a homemaker and former State of Alabama employee, moved here in 2003 from Eclectic, Ala. She enjoyed dragonflies, horses and playing bingo and bunco.

Survivors include a daughter, Carissa Prentice, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; her parents, Robert and Maria Freeman, Merritt Island; a brother, John Freeman, Chicago; and a grandchild. Alta Alderman
NOV. 12, 1937 -- SEPT. 21, 2004

DELAND -- Alta J. "Joann" Alderman, 66, of Roberts Avenue, a retired restaurant owner, died Tuesday at Florida Hospital DeLand.

Mrs. Alderman was born in Wauchula, and moved to this area in 1997 from Spring Hill.

Survivors include two sons, Randy, DeLand, and Dennis, Las Vegas; a brother, Elvien Beagles, Palm Bay Point; three sisters, Rebecca Alderman, DeLand, Olive Campbell, Bartow, and Frances McCloud, Lakeland; and two grandchildren. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.

William Attick

APRIL 10, 1924 -- SEPT. 21, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- William E. Attick, 80, of Peachtree Road, a former Stewart-Marchman executive committee chairman, died Tuesday at home.

A native of Harrisburg, Pa., Mr. Attick served in World War II and the Korean War before his retirement as an Army major in 1963. After moving to this area in 1977 from Lexington, Ky., he also served as a Daytona Beach Golf Club board member, director of the membership services of the Daytona Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and board member and president of the Act Corp. A member of the Masons, Mr. Attick also was a member of the Retired Officers and the Sixth Calvary associations.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Alice; a son, William, Olney, Md.; two daughters, Elaine Attick, Port Orange, and Stefanie Walker, Tahlequah, Okla.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Joseph Badalati
FEB. 20, 1932 -- SEPT. 18, 2004

PALM COAST -- Joseph A. Badalati, 72, of White Feather Lane, an air conditioning specialist with Regional Oil, Dover, N.J., died Saturday at Florida Hospital-Flagler.

Mr. Badalati, a Navy mechanic and Korean War veteran, was born in Englewood, N.J., and moved here in 1994 from Rockaway, N.J. A member of People Who Need People and Moose Lodge 2577, he enjoyed bowling, traveling and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Olive; three sons, Anthony Badalati, Pembroke Pines, John Hohn, Manning, S.C., and Peter Badalati, Delaware; two daughters, Carol Howell, Riverview, and Ida Marie Badalati, Hopatcong, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
