Daniel Stahl

MARCH 14, 1949 -- DEC. 23, 2004

DELAND -- Daniel Stahl, 55, of Osceola Avenue, a dispatcher in the trucking industry, died Thursday at Florida Hospital DeLand.

Mr. Stahl moved to this area in 1978 from Brooklyn, N.Y., his birthplace. He enjoyed cooking and culinary arts.

No known immediate relatives survive. Altman-Long, DeBary, is in charge.

Julia Straughn

MARCH 3, 1911 -- DEC. 26, 2004

PORT ORANGE -- Julia H. Straughn, 93, of DuBois Avenue, a retired bookbinder for American Printing House for the Blind, died Sunday at home.

Mrs. Straughn was born in Westport, Ky., and moved to this area in 1997 from Pleasureville, Ky. She enjoyed reading.

Survivors include two sons, Robert, Pendleton, Ky., and Donald, Pleasureville; a daughter, Norma Noe, Port Orange; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Cardwell & Maloney are in charge.

Elbert Tillman

SEPT. 18, 1947 -- DEC. 24, 2004

PALM COAST -- Elbert Jack "Bones" Tillman, 57, of North Oceanside Boulevard, a native of MacClenny, died Friday at Shands Jacksonville.

Mr. Tillman moved to this area in 1990 from Apopka. He was employed for 15 years in the medical field and was an irrigation worker for A&S Water. He enjoyed cooking and fishing.

Survivors include two daughters, Ettaleene Griffin, and Wanda Box, both of Apopka. Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Mary Wager

JULY 12, 1924 -- DEC. 27, 2004

SANFORD -- Mary R. Wager, 80, of Sanford, the mother of William Wager, a resident of Deltona, died Monday at Central Florida Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Wager, a homemaker, was born in Kellerman, Ala., and moved to Sanford in 1979 from Riddle, Ore. She was an Army veteran of World War II. Mrs. Wager enjoyed reading and puzzles.

Additional survivors include her husband of 58 years, Charles; four daughters, Dawn Jones, Deltona, Pamela Wager, Birdsview, Wash., and Dolly Schultz and Bobbie Wager, both of Franklin, Ga.; two brothers, Lester Howell Jr. and Joseph Howell, both of Oregon; two sisters, Edie Mylott, New Smyrna Beach, and Peggy Anderson, Deltona; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Volusia County Cremation, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Rethel Wallace

DEC. 25, 1917 -- DEC. 27, 2004

ORMOND BEACH -- Rethel Clay Wallace, 87, of Oceanshore Boulevard, a winter resident for the past four years, died Monday at his daughter's home in Ormond Beach.

Mr. Wallace, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in McHenry, Ky. He was a retired assistant manager for a feed mill. Mr. Wallace enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include two daughters, Norma Wilson, Ormond Beach, and Barbara Hare, Geneva, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Woodward, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Helen White

JAN. 13, 1910 -- DEC. 21, 2004

ORANGE CITY -- Helen W. White, 94, of Veteran's Memorial Parkway, a retired bookkeeper in Horseheads, N.Y., died Dec. 21 at Majestic Oaks at John Knox Village.

Mrs. White was born in Ridgefield, Ill., and moved to this area in 1989 from Lakeland.

Survivors include a sister, Jeanette Bohland, Orange City; and a niece, Judith Millspaugh, Englewood, who provided for her care. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.

Lawrence Alexander

MAY 14, 1950 -- JAN. 13, 2005

OSTEEN -- Lawrence Alexander, 54, of Longwood Drive, a construction laborer, died Thursday on New Smyrna Street, Osteen.

Mr. Alexander was born in Raiford.

Survivors include a son, Anthony Lewis, and a daughter, Catina Gardner, both of Sanford; his mother, Emma Lee Alexander, Osteen; three brothers, Cleo Jr. and Samuel, both of Deltona, and Leo, DeLand; seven sisters, Maxine Alexander, DeLand, Para Durant, Lake Mary, April Burrell, Deltona, Angela Alexander, Holly Hill, and Verna, Robin and Doris Alexander, all of Osteen; and 13 grandchildren. Sunrise Funeral Home, Sanford, is in charge.

Frederick Anastario

NOV. 11, 1921 -- JAN. 17, 2005

EDGEWATER -- Frederick Anastario, 83, of India Palm Drive, a retired steel worker for Harris Structural Steel Co., Plainfield, N.J., died Monday at a care facility in Oak Hill.

Mr. Anastario, an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, was born in Maddonlonni, Italy, and moved to this area in 1986 from Plainfield.

Survivors include a son, Domenico, Longwood; two grandchildren; and Kathy Allen, Longwood, who provided for his care. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Dudley, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

James Berkery

APRIL 2, 1943 -- JAN. 15, 2005

BUNNELL -- James M. Berkery, 61, of Forrest Park Street, a resident since 1990, died Saturday at home.

Mr. Berkery, a former therapist aide in a state hospital, moved here from his birthplace, Newburg, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Deanna; a daughter, Tina Nason, Bunnell; a brother, Leo, Atlanta; a sister, Mary Iron, Newburg; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. William Brothers

JULY 12, 1934 -- JAN. 17, 2005

ORMOND BEACH -- William Brothers, 70, of Cardinal Drive, who owned Meticulous Fine French Cleaner in Flushing, N.Y., died Monday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mr. Brothers, a Navy veteran of the Korean War, was born in Queens, N.Y., and moved here in March from Long Island, N.Y. He enjoyed walking on the beach.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Brothers, New Jersey, and Laura Brothers-DeCaro, New York; a sister, Lillian Necker, Sanford; and three grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Lohman-Ormond is in charge.

Frances Bruno

MARCH 9, 1908 -- JAN. 18, 2005

HOLLY HILL -- Frances R. Bruno, 96, of LPGA Boulevard, a retired teacher, died Tuesday at Bishop's Glen.

Mrs. Bruno, a homemaker, was born in Wilna, N.Y., and moved to this area in 1985 from Wassaic, N.Y. She was a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a graduate of the Albany Normal School. Mrs. Bruno enjoyed sewing, leather working and baking.

Survivors include a sister, Theresa Desmond, Canton, N.Y. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 111 N. Frederick Ave., Suite 100, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Cardwell & Maloney, Port Orange, is in charge.

Kenneth Craddock

DEC. 3, 1932 - JAN. 17, 2005

HOLLY HILL -- Kenneth L. Craddock, 72, of Eighth Street, who retired from Publix as a stock clerk after 40 years of service, died Monday at Daytona Beach Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Toronto, Mr. Craddock came here in 1989 from Miami. He enjoyed eating at restaurants.

Survivors include a brother, Howard, Holly Hill. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 1555 LPGA Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32117. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

John Eustace

APRIL 2, 1925 -- JAN. 12, 2005

PALM COAST -- John M. Eustace, 79, of Chickasaw Court, who served on the board of directors for the Memorial Healthcare Systems Foundation, died Jan. 12 at home.

A native of Philadelphia, Mr. Eustace moved here in 1989 from Arlington, Va., where he worked as a U.S. foreign service officer. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War and a graduate of the American University in Washington, D.C. Mr. Eustace was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Palm Coast Civic Association, Marine Corps League and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lucille; a son, John Jr., LaPaz, Bolivia; five daughters, Lisa Bates, Palm Coast, Cynthia Stafford, Plano, Texas, Mindy Dollar, Annapolis, Md., Pam Couture, Tucson, Ariz., and Gigi Jennings, Newburg, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Stewart F. Meyer Hospice House, co Florida Hospital Memorial Hospice Care, 770 W. Granada Blvd., Suite 102, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Albertine Goguen

AUG. 23, 1934 -- JAN. 17, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Albertine Goguen, 70, of Sabal Creek Boulevard, a resident since 1991, died Monday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial.

Mrs. Goguen, a homemaker, was born in St. Marie, New Brunswick, and moved to this area from Orlando. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Norman; three sons, Gerard, White River Junction, Vt., Denis, Derry, N.H., and Terry, Manchester, N.H.; a daughter, Denise Logan, Waltham, Mass.; a brother, Robert LeBlanc, Kamika, Quebec; six sisters, Bernice Leger, Clinton, Mass., Huberte Maillet, St. Marie, Cecile Lessard, Chertsey, Quebec, Lina Manucie, Montreal, Diane Atkinson, Dieppe, New Brunswick, and Geralda Stockman, Moncton, New Brunswick; and eight grandchildren.
