Joseph Geisler

MARCH 9, 1922 -- JAN. 19, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- Joseph A. Geisler, 82, of Gull Circle North, who formerly owned and operated a trucking company, died Wednesday at home.

Mr. Geisler, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in McKees Rock, Pa., and moved here in 1970 from Coraopolis, Pa. He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church, Port Orange. Mr. Geisler was an avid stockcar racing fan.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Martha Ann; two sons, Lynn, Cranberry Township, Pa., and Gary, Coraopolis; a brother, Louis, Imperial, Pa.; two sisters, Betty Billante, Tennessee, and Henrietta Dozier, Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Cardwell & Maloney, Port Orange, is in charge.

Rose Mary Gray

APRIL 15, 1937 -- JAN. 21, 2005

DELTONA -- Rose Mary Gray, 67, of St. James Avenue, a native of Pittsburgh, died Friday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Mrs. Gray, who worked as a private family caregiver, moved here in 1970. She was a member of Deltona Seventh-day Adventist Church where she was a deaconess and kindergarten Sabbath school teacher. Mrs. Gray enjoyed crafts, gardening and animals.

Survivors include three sons, Steven, Orange City, William, Coolidge, Ga., and John, Deltona; a daughter, Theresa Rauschenberger, Orange City; three brothers, Fred Pierce, Pittsburgh, John Pierce, Longview, Texas, and Dan Pierce, Coral Springs; three sisters, Pat Getty, Bethel Park, Pa., Joan Gross, Cincinnati, and Nancy Erck, McLean, Va.; and 12 grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Deltona Memorial, Orange City, is in charge.

James Housend

DEC. 25, 1924 -- JAN. 20, 2005

DELAND -- James B. Housend, 80, of Lakeside Drive, a retired pilot for American Airlines, died Thursday at Florida Hospital DeLand.

Mr. Housend, a Navy veteran of World War II, was born in Sumter, S.C. He moved to this area in 1952 from Tulsa, Okla. He was also a hunting and fishing guide, taxidermist and fishing contractor. Mr. Housend was past president of the Shrine Temple of DeLand and Masonic Temple and member of the Lake Beresford Yacht Club. He enjoyed story telling.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Clausen and Deborah Housend, both of DeLand, and Barbara Suiter, Newton, Iowa; three stepsons, John, Roy and Rick Ford; three stepdaughters, Jan Paul, Marathon, Donna Thompson, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Ann Hammes, Campbellsport, Wis.; 29 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 12502 Pine Drive, North Tampa, FL 33612, Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.

Robert Jones

AUG. 10, 1933 -- JAN. 20, 2005

DELTONA -- Robert Jones, 71, of South Cooper Drive, a manager for a book binder business, died Thursday at Orange City, Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, DeBary.

Mr. Jones, a Navy veteran of the Korean War, was born in Hackensack, N.J., and moved here in 1991 from New Jersey. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8093 and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joan; a son, Robert, Deltona; a daughter, Jane Radell, New Smyrna Beach; and four grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 657 Mission St., Suite 603, San Francisco, CA 94105. Baldauff, Orange City, is in charge.

Dorothy Lehr

SEPT. 25, 1902 -- JAN. 20, 2005

DELAND -- Dorothy B. Lehr, 102, of Turtle Dove Trail, a retired bookkeeper, died Thursday at home.

Mrs. Lehr moved to this area in 1996 from her native Danbury, Conn. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, where she was a past worthy matron and Grand Esther in the Grand Chapter of OES, and was also a member of the Order of Amaranth, Rebekahs and AARP.

Survivors include a son, Clesson, New Fairfield, Conn.; a daughter, Leahdell Davis, DeLand; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. John Lentini

SEPT. 3, 1919 -- JAN. 21, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- John V. Lentini, 85, who retired as an insurance salesman for John Hancock Insurance Co., died Friday at home.

Mr. Lentini, a Navy veteran of World War II serving at Pearl Harbor, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved here a month ago. He formerly co-owned Concord Dry Cleaners in New York.

Survivors include two sons, John Jr. and Louis; and a sister, Rose Leone. Baggett & Summers, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Edith Mylott

OCT. 26, 1920 -- JAN. 21, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Edith L. Mylott, 84, of South State Road 415, a resident since 1968, died Friday at Central Florida Regional Hospital, Sanford.

Mrs. Mylott, a homemaker, was born in Kellerman, Ala., and moved here from Key West. She enjoyed fishing and bowling.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Barry; a son, James Odom, Elmore, Ala.; a daughter, Mary Kiker, Lincoln, Ala.; two brothers, Joseph Howell, Roseburg, Ore., and Lester Howell Jr., Riddle, Ore.; a sister, Peggy Anderson, Deltona; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Deltona Memorial, Orange City, is in charge.

Lawrence Patraw

AUG. 24, 1930 -- JAN. 24, 2005

ORMOND BEACH -- Lawrence James Patraw, 74, of Koala Bear Path, who retired as a shift foreman for General Motors, died Friday at home.

Mr. Patraw, an Army Reserves veteran during the Korean War, was born in Massena, N.Y., and came here in 1993 from Brasher Falls, N.Y. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Patraw enjoyed cooking and eating.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Waltraut; a son, Neil, Ormond Beach; three daughters, Jill Tredo, Ormond Beach, Jeanene Roy, Liverpool, N.Y., and Shelly Taylor, Brasher Falls; a brother, George, and a sister, Winifred Campbell, both of Massena; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Diana Power

NOV. 9, 1958 -- JAN. 20, 2005

EDGEWATER -- Diana Lynne Power, 46, of Date Palm Drive, a waitress for the Sizzlin' Platter, Edgewater, died Thursday at home.

Mrs. Power, a 1976 graduate of New Smyrna Beach High School, was born in Lancaster, Calif., and moved to this area in 1968 from Los Angeles. She was a member of Edgewater First Baptist Church. She enjoyed church, needlework and gardening.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Robert; two sons, Raymond and Patrick, both of Edgewater, a daughter, Jennifer Dupre, San Angelo, Texas; her father, David Robbins, Edgewater; her mother, Margaret Robbins, New Smyrna Beach; three brothers, Robert and Richard Robbins, both of New Smyrna Beach, and Christopher Robbins, Edgewater; two sisters, Nancy Stegar and Linda Robbins, both of New Smyrna Beach; and a granddaughter. Joseph Ptak

MARCH 31, 1924 -- JAN. 20, 2005

DELTONA -- Joseph P. Ptak, 80, of Abadan Drive, a retired tool designer, died Thursday at home.

Mr. Ptak, an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, who received the Purple Heart, American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal, was born in New Britain, Conn. He moved to this area in 1972 from Suffield, Conn. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans, Orange City, and Loyal Order of the Moose and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8093, both of DeBary. Mr. Ptak enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Mary. Deltona Memorial, Orange City, is in charge.

Verlin Ringley

FEB. 13, 1950 -- JAN. 20, 2005

DELAND -- Verlin R. Ringley, 54, of Villa Villar Court, a mechanic, died Thursday at Oakwood Garden of DeLand.

Mr. Ringley moved here 1975 from his native Richmond, Ind.

Survivors include his wife, Lois; a son, Richie, Richmond; and two grandchildren. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.

Bailey Settle

JULY 11, 2001 -- JAN. 20, 2005

FLAGLER BEACH -- Bailey Thomas Settle, 3, of Ocean Palm Drive, the son of Kathleen "Kate" and Stephen Settle, died Thursday at Florida Hospital-Flagler, Palm Coast, as the result of a drowning.

Bailey was born in Alexandria, Va., and moved here in 2003 from Washington, D.C. He was a student at Bunnell Elementary School and the Therapeutic Learning Center, St. Augustine.

Additional survivors include a brother, Hampton, Flagler Beach; two sisters, Lauren Settle, Las Vegas, and Sandra Biggs, Linton, Va.; his paternal grandparents, Carlton and Elizabeth Settle, Lothian, Md.; his maternal grandfather, David Fenner, Hampton, N.H.; and his maternal great-grandmother, Catherine Fenner, Manchester, N.H. Craig-Flagler Palms is in charge.

Pearl Smart

NOV. 7, 1928 -- JAN. 16, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- Pearl Paula Broomfield Smart, 76, who retired as a registered nurse, was found drowned Sunday near Daytona Beach Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Smart was born in Macon, Ga. She also retired as a cosmetologist. She was an ordained minister with Bible Missionary Church.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Scott, Florida; her mother, Cora Reed, New Haven, Conn.; a brother, Herbert Broomfield, Atlanta; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Sauls Funeral Home, Bluffton, S.C., is in charge.
