Gina Folignani

JULY 30, 1922 -- FEB. 11, 2005

EDGEWATER -- Gina A. "Jean" Folignani, 82, of Sabal Palm Drive, who worked in the packaging department of a pharmaceutical company, died Friday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Born in Tuckahoe, N.Y., Mrs. Folignani moved to this area in 1990 from Yonkers, N.Y. She was a member of St. Gerard's Catholic Church, the Florida Shores Clubhouse and its Lunch Bunch. She also volunteered for Bert Fish Medical Center. Mrs. Folignani enjoyed playing cards and watching old movies with her husband.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Santi; a son, Charles, Mahwah, N.J.; a daughter, Maria Ramos, New York City; two brothers, Edward and Mike Visconti, both of Tuckahoe; two sisters, Antoinette Nicholas, Tuckahoe, and Susan Jackman, Murrysville, Pa.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Settle-Wilder, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Alexander Hand

OCT. 16, 1918 -- FEB. 10, 2005

QUAKERTOWN, Pa. -- Alexander D. "Doug" Hand, 86, of Quakertown, a former resident of Palm Coast, died Thursday at Phoebe Nursing Center, Richland, Pa.

Mr. Hand, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in Rio Grande, N.J. He moved to Palm Coast in 1975 and in 2002 moved to Quakertown. He retired as an engineer for Philco Ford. Mr. Hand was a member of St. Mark by the Sea Lutheran Church, Palm Coast, the Lions Club and the Kentucky Colonels.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dorothy; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Rose Horvath

JULY 28, 1928 -- FEB. 11, 2005

ORMOND BEACH -- Rose Marie Horvath, 76, of Koala Bear Path, a native of Germany, died Friday at home.

Mrs. Horvath, a homemaker, moved here in 2001 from Connecticut. She enjoyed gardening, reading and crocheting.

Survivors include three sons, Steven, Ormond Beach. Peter, Chicago, and Gregory, Merritt Island; a daughter, Susan Bagnall, Ormond Beach, and, Edda Potz, Germany; and eight grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Florida Hospital Memorial HospiceCare, 770 W. Granada Blvd., Suite 319, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Dorothy Montebello

JAN. 18, 1919 -- FEB. 11, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Dorothy Montebello, 86, of Gindy Lane, a resident since 1976, died Friday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mrs. Montebello, a homemaker, moved here from her birthplace, Philadelphia. She enjoyed bingo and arts and crafts.

Survivors include two daughters, Maryann Montebello and Helen Joyce, both of Philadelphia; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905. Volusia Memorial, Port Orange, is in charge.

Rick Morgan

MAY 30, 1938 -- FEB. 12, 2005

ORMOND BEACH -- Rick Morgan, 66, of Jamestown Drive, a native of Egypt, died Saturday at home.

Mr. Morgan, a former business owner, immigrated to the United States in 1970 and in 1994 he moved to Ormond Beach from Brooklyn, N.Y. He enjoyed flying, praying and reading.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Mary; a son, Raymond; two daughters, Margaret Jaisingh, South Daytona, and Caroline Attia, Delaware; three brothers, Phillip, Ormond Beach, and Michael and James, both of New Jersey; a sister, Alexandria Morgan, New York City; and seven grandchildren. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Donald Mooers

JAN. 31, 1915 -- FEB. 10, 2005

DEBARY -- Donald G. Mooers, 90, of Fleetwood Street, a supervisor for a papermill manufacturing company, died Thursday at Orange City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Mooers moved here in 1988 from Haverhill, Mass., his birthplace. He was a member of Portland Street Baptist Church, Haverhill, and was a volunteer at a nursing home. Mr. Mooers enjoyed billards, music and golf.

Survivors include five sons, Donald Jr., Andover, Mass., David, Danville, N.H., Lawrence, Hampton, N.H., Gary, Hudson, N.H., and James, Haverhill; a daughter, Kathleen Kimball, Haverhill; and 19 grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Portland Street Baptist Church, 29 Portland Street, Haverhill, MA 01830. Baldauff, Orange City, is in charge.

Elizabeth Raber

DEC. 16, 1919 -- FEB. 10, 2005

HOLLY HILL -- Elizabeth Mae Raber, 85, of Flomich Avenue, a resident since 1976, died Thursday at home.

Mrs. Raber, a homemaker, came here from her native Lebanon, Pa. She was a member of Union Congregational Church. Mrs. Raber enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading and growing orchids.

Survivors include her companion of 30 years, Glenn Long; three sons, Terry, Ickesburg, Pa., Tim, Lebanon, and Wade, Pineville, La.; two daughters, Judith Shearer, Ormond Beach, and Jamie Raber, Yulee; a brother, Wade Bell, Annville, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.

J. Robert Sorkin

APRIL 4, 1957 -- FEB. 11, 2005

FLAGLER BEACH -- J. Robert Sorkin, 47, of Oceanshore Boulevard, an entrepreneur, died Friday at home.

Mr. Sorkin, a Marine veteran, moved to this area in1994 from his native Philadelphia. He was a past president of the Flagler County Sportfishing Club. He enjoyed the sea.

Survivors include a son, Brian, of the U.S. Coast Guard; his mother, Irene Sorkin, and a brother, Richard, both of Philadelphia; and a sister, Penny Santacroce, Flagler Beach. Memorial donations may be made to the Clarke Auditory School for the Deaf, 9857 Old St. Augustine Road, Suite 6, Jacksonville, FL 32257. Craig-Flagler Palms is in charge.

Frances Boyer
APRIL 21, 1926 -- FEB. 15, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Frances G. Boyer, 78, of Donna Street, a loan officer, died Tuesday at Hospice Care Center.

Mrs. Boyer was a native of Philadelphia, and came here in 1984 from Avalon, N.J.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, George; two sons, George and Robert, both of Villas, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Volusia County Cremation, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Elmer Cohrs

FEB. 10, 1910 -- FEB. 18, 2005

ORANGE CITY -- Elmer A. Cohrs, 95, of East Pineapple Avenue, a farmer, died Friday at Central Florida Regional Hospital, Sanford.

A native of Tiskilwa, Ill., Mr. Cohrs came here in 2004 from Illinois where he was a member of St. Mathew's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Dorothy; two daughters, Nancy Quanstrom, Orange City, and Carol Miyasato, Glendale, Calif.; a sister, Eleanor Burrows, Norfolk, Va.; five grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Baldauff is in charge.

Karen Dixon

JULY 5, 1951 -- FEB. 19, 2005

DELTONA -- Karen Yvonne Dixon, 53, of Juliet Drive, who worked for 15 years at Advanced Ordinance in Daytona Beach, died Saturday at home.

Ms. Dixon was born in Milton, W.Va., and moved to Central Florida in 1980 from Troy, Ohio. She attended Faith Baptist Church of Deltona.

Survivors include her companion, Tom Lamothe; three sons, Kurtis and Derrick, both of Deltona, and Kenneth, South Daytona; a daughter, Christine Dixon, Deltona; her parents, Delbert Davis, Troy, and Betty Davis, Deltona; two brothers, David and Joey Davis, both of New Carlisle, Ohio; two sisters, Carolyn Davis, Deltona, and Regina Connor, Orlando; and three grandchildren. Baldauff, Orange City, is in charge.,

Lucille Eidman

AUG. 28, 1917 -- FEB. 18, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- Lucille A. Eidman, 87, of Seagrave Street, a resident since 1970, died Friday at Halifax Medical Center.

Mrs. Eidman, a homemaker, moved to this area from her native Baltimore. She was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, Port Orange.

Survivors include three sons, Gilbert II, Daytona Beach, John, Palm Coast, and Darius, Peoria, Ill.; a daughter, Joanne Sweet, Westbrook, Conn.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Shannon Maloney, Port Orange, is in charge.

Melvin Fields

JULY 24, 1925 -- FEB. 19, 2005

ORMOND BEACH -- Melvin Harold Fields, 79, of John Anderson Drive, a longtime area business man, died Saturday at home.

Mr. Fields, a Navy veteran, was born New York City and moved to this area in 1960 from Hicksville, N.Y. He owned several businesses including hotels, night clubs and a T-shirt factory.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Doloris; a son, Carl, Daytona Beach; three daughters, Lindsey Fields, Ormond Beach, Melinda Blum, Mystic, Conn., and Betsy Fields, Silverton, Colo.; two sisters, Mildred Grasska, Los Angeles, and Jeanne Elster, New York City; and two grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Melvin Fields Scholarship Fund for Jewish Students, Stetson University, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand, FL 32723. Lohman-Ormond is in charge.

Mildred Jemison

SEPT. 30, 1919 -- FEB. 20, 2005

DELAND -- Mildred E. Jemison, 85, of South Spring Garden Avenue, a native of Lincoln, Neb., died Sunday at Woodland Terrace Extended Care.

Mrs. Jemison, a homemaker, moved here in 1998 from Kansas City, Mo.

Survivors include a son, Jim, DeLand; a brother, Donald Sapp, Carlsbad, Calif.; a sister, Harriett Marsee, Kansas City, Kan.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.
