JULY 29, 1936 -- APRIL 8, 2005

ORMOND BEACH -- Francine L. Beighley, 68, of Main Trail, a native of Tarentum, Pa., died Friday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mrs. Beighley, a homemaker, came here in 1967 from Vandergrift, Pa. She attended Christ United Methodist Church, Holly Hill. Mrs. Beighley enjoyed theater, performing arts, dance, ballet, travel, animals and Disney World.

Survivors include a daughter, Meryle-lynn Epps, Ormond Beach; two brothers, James Smith, Apollo, Pa., and Walter Smith, Smithfield, Pa.; two sisters, Donna Capone, Arnold, Pa., and Deborah DeRubeis, Elizabeth, Pa.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Halifax Humane Society, P.O. Box 9035, Daytona Beach, FL 32120-9035; or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265. Pinello, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Jasmine Bond

APRIL 3, 2005 -- APRIL 3, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- Jasmine Amina Bond, the infant daughter of Darryl Bond and Latoya Smith, both of Daytona Beach, died shortly after birth at Halifax Medical Center.

Additional survivors include paternal grandfather, Darryl Bond, and paternal grandmother, Lisa Bell, both of Philadelphia; maternal grandfather and maternal stepgrandmother, Lloyd and Evadne Smith, and maternal grandmother, Isolyn Williams, all of Delray Beach. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

George Burchfield

AUG. 16, 1918 -- APRIL 8, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- George Curtis Burchfield, 86, of General Marshall Road, the former owneroperator of B & B Lawn Service, died Friday at Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial.

Mr. Burchfield, an Army veteran of World War II, who served in Pearl Harbor, was born in Harriman, Tenn. He moved to this area in 1973 from Chicago. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1590. Mr. Burchfield enjoyed model trains, history and reading.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Virginia "Lucille"; a son, Allan, Davenport; a daughter, Linda Broe, Cedar Lake, Ind.; a brother, Charles, Edgewood, Md.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Dinesh Chandra

JAN. 6, 1946 -- MARCH 13, 2005

DELTONA -- Dinesh Chandra, 59, a native of Agra, India, died March 13 at home.

Mr. Chandra, an Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, moved here in 1985 from Illinois. He enjoyed walking in parks and hiking.

Survivors include two brothers, Chance Bahadur, North Barrington, Ill., and Avdesh Chandra. Volusia County Cremation, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Edward Cwalina

MARCH 26, 1930 -- APRIL 6, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Edward B. Cwalina, 75, of Riverside Drive, who retired as a joiner foreman with the U.S. Coast Guard, Baltimore, died Wednesday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mr. Cwalina was born in Baltimore and came to this area in 1987 from Maryland.

Survivors include his wife, Rose; three sons, Ed Jr., Port Orange, Dennis, Ormond Beach, and Aaron, Daytona Beach; and three grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Volusia Memorial, Port Orange, is in charge.

Robert Durward

JAN. 19, 1924 -- APRIL 7, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Robert J. Durward, 81, who retired after working in the Department of Transportation for the State of Maine, died Thursday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mr. Durward was born in Poultney, Vt., and moved here in 1978 from Ormond Beach. He enjoyed his dogs and watching television.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Fern. Baggett & Summers, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Howard Everson

FEB. 13, 1909 -- APRIL 6, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Howard J. Everson, 96, of Barefoot Trail, a tool maker who worked in Blossburg, Pa., died Wednesday at home.

Born in Titusville, Pa., Mr. Everson moved here from New York. He was a past Mason and past member of the Odd Fellow Lodge and Civilian Conservation Corp.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jean; two sons, Richard, Port Orange, and Howard, Leesburg; a daughter, Alice Meyers, Enumclaw, Wash.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Lohman-Daytona, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Roger Fifield

JAN. 15, 1938 -- APRIL 7, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Roger Allen Fifield, 67, of Reillys Road, who retired as a general mechanic for the State of New York, died Thursday at Kindred Hospital, Green Cove Springs.

Mr. Fifield, an Air Force veteran, was born in Potsdam, N.Y. He moved to this area in 2000 from Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; four sons, Roger Jr., Zephyrhills, Scott and Darryl, both of Poughkeepsie, and Steven, Rosendale, N.Y.; a stepson, Roger Bhalla, Houston; a stepdaughter, Mona Bhalla, Portland, Ore.; a brother, Richard, Star Lake, N.Y.; a sister, Audrey Premo, Canton, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren. Shannon Maloney is in charge.

Margaret Freedman

JAN. 5, 1913 -- APRIL 6, 2005

HOLLY HILL -- Margaret Agatha Freedman, 92, of LPGA Boulevard, a resident since 1975, died Wednesday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mrs. Freedman, a homemaker, was a native of Washington, D.C., and moved here from Arlington, Va. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Ormond Beach.

Survivors include two sons, John and Charles, both of New York; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.

Mary Green

APRIL 30, 1931 -- APRIL 7, 2005

DELAND -- Mary E. Green, 73, of State Road 44, who retired as the owner of Mr. Carpet, died Thursday at home.

Mrs. Green was born in Marshall, Texas, and came to this area in 1975 from Atlanta, Ga. She enjoyed fishing and horseback riding.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, James; five sons, Wayne Daniel, Daytona Beach, Dan Daniel, Lawrenceville, Ga., Russell Daniel, Clayton, Ga., Sherwood Daniel, Loganville, Ga., and Joe Daniel, New Ellenton, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Lankford is in charge.

Joseph Merola

AUG. 11, 1920 -- APRIL 7, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Joseph A. Merola, 84, of Lakeland Drive, a production manager for General Electric Co., Philadelphia, died Thursday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mr. Merola, a native of Hazelton, Pa., moved here in 1995 from Broomall, Pa. He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Jay, Ponce Inlet; four brothers, Bill, Somers Point, N.J., Al, Bedford, Ky., Jim, Broomall, and Frank, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and a sister, Bea Haynal, Havertown, Pa. Cardwell & Maloney is in charge.

Laura Meyer

APRIL 27, 1927 -- APRIL 7, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Laura C. Meyer, 77, of Saxon Drive, a bookkeeper for a credit union, died Thursday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Mrs. Meyer was born in Morris, N.Y., and moved here in 1981 from Utica, N.Y. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She also formerly worked as a caregiver for Hospice of Volusia - Flagler from 1988 to 1994.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene; a daughter, Karen Guida, Port Orange; two brothers, Edward Nelson, Edgewater, and Richard, North Carolina; four sisters, Aggie Merriam, Edgewater, Margaret Hayden, Ocala, Virginia Mussel, Buffalo, N.Y., and Ruth Nielsen, New York City; and two grandchildren. Baldwin Brothers is in charge.

Frances Nota

OCT. 30, 1921 -- APRIL 6, 2005

DELTONA -- Frances Nota, 83, of Urbana Avenue, a native of London, England, died Wednesday at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Orange City.

Mrs. Nota, a homemaker, moved here in 2004 from Massachusetts. She enjoyed bingo and puzzles.

Survivors include two sons, Paul, Deltona, and John, Massachusetts; four daughters, Shirley Conerfy, Diane Clinton and Linda Rounde, all of Massachusetts, and Priscilla Morrill, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1620 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 300, Daytona Beach, FL 32119. Baldauff, Orange City, is in charge.

Madeline Rosier

MARCH 2, 1914 -- APRIL 6, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Madeline B. Rosier, 91, of Sagewood Drive, who retired in 1985 from the Department of Agriculture with the State of Florida, died Wednesday at Avante At Ormond Beach.

Mrs. Rosier was born in Ocala, and came to this area in 1935 from Jacksonville. She was a member Central Baptist Church and St. James Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include a son, Richard, Port Orange; a daughter, Dorothy Hambrick, Holly Hill; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Baggett & Summers, Daytona Beach, is in charge.
