Antoinette Loprieno

JULY 10, 2005 -- APRIL 16, 2005

PALM COAST -- Antoinette Marie Loprieno, 94, of Black Oak Court, a retired bookkeeper for Metro Life Insurance Co., died Saturday at home.

Mrs. Loprieno was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to this area in 1975 from Miami. She was a member of the ItalianAmerican Club of Palm Coast.

Survivors include a nephew, Michael Sessa, and a niece, Elaine Little, both of Palm Coast. Memorial donations may be made to Florida Hospital Memorial HospiceCare, 770 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Coastal Cremation is in charge.

Lois McMillen

OCT. 21, 1927 -- APRIL 17, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Lois "Nita" McMillen, 77, of Hawks Ridge Road, a hairdresser at Jack & Jeans in Daytona Beach for more than 40 years, died Sunday at home.

Mrs. McMillen was born in Cloverdale, Ind., and moved here from Deerfield Beach in 1961. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and bowling.

Survivors include three sons, Robert McMillen, South Daytona, James Denny, Palm City, and Darrel Denny, Oklahoma City; a daughter, Peggy Hanger, Port Orange; a brother, Arthur Martin, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Stanley Majka

FEB. 23, 1926 -- APRIL 17, 2005

PALM COAST -- Stanley W. Majka, 79, of Renmont Place, who was self employed in the dry cleaning industry, died Sunday at home.

Mr. Majka, a Marine Corps veteran, was born in Philadelphia and moved to this area in 2004 from St. Augustine. He was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Philadelphia, and the PolishAmerican Club of Pennsylvania.

Survivors include a son, Francis, Ohio; a brother, Hedwig Brodzik, New Jersey; four grandchildren; and Elizabeth Oliver, Palm Coast, who provided for his care. Memorial donations may be made to Shrine Mission of Nombre de Dios, 27 Ocean Ave., St. Augustine, FL 32084. Coastal Cremation is in charge.

Gordon Mallison

AUG. 6, 1928 -- APRIL 18, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Gordon Ray Mallison, 76, of Tarrytown Trail, a retired real estate salesman, died Monday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mr. Mallison, an Army veteran of the Korean War, moved here in 1979 from Batavia, N.Y., his birthplace. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 3282 and the Daytona Beach Radio Control Club.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Pauline. Memorial donations may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association of Greater Daytona Beach, 111 N. Frederick Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32114 Cardwell & Maloney is in charge.Helen Mikula

AUG. 6, 1922 -- APRIL 16, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- Helen Mikula, 82, of North Halifax Avenue, a former apartment manager of Ocean Breeze Village, Daytona Beach, died Saturday at Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial.

Mrs. Mikula moved to this area in 1967 from her native Charleroi, Ill. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Daytona Beach. She was also active in real estate development. Mrs. Mikula enjoyed sewing and cooking.

Survivors include a son, Darel, Daytona Beach; and a daughter, Gloria Mikula, Daytona Beach. Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.

Stacy Nelson

MARCH 17, 1974 -- APRIL 17, 2005

PALATKA -- Stacy Nelson, 31, of Palatka, the son of Orange City resident Alice Robbins, died Sunday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Palatka.

Mr. Nelson, a native of Gainesville, was a lifelong resident of Putnam County. He worked in the Digester Division at Georgia Pacific Paper Corp. He enjoyed hunting.

Additional survivors include a son, Jarrett, and a daughter, Taylor Nelson, both of Green Cove Springs; his father and stepmother, Bud and Julie Nearing, and three brothers, Billy, Michael and Kenny Nearing, all of San Mateo; and two sisters, Heather Key, Hollister, and Billye Lee Griffis, Fort Lewis, Wash. Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home, Palatka, is in charge.

Robert Rawlins Jr.

OCT. 7, 1928 -- APRIL 16, 2005

ORMOND BEACH -- Retired Circuit Judge Robert W. Rawlins Jr., 76, of Deer Lake Circle, a retired circuit judge in Tampa from 1970 to 1989 and sat as a retired judge in Volusia County from 1989 to the present, died Saturday at home.

Judge Rawlins, an Army and Air Force veteran, who served as a sergeant, was a native of Daytona Beach. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Tampa, and his law degree from Stetson University College of Law, St. Petersburg. He was a member of the Big Bull Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Laurie; two sons, Robert III, Daytona Beach, and Trent, Edmonton, Alberta; a daughter, Michelle Snap, Daytona Beach; and two grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Children's Cancer Research Center, P.O. Box 810, Memphis, TN 38101. Baggett & Summers, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Janet Read

MARCH 6, 1941 -- APRIL 17, 2005

ORMOND BEACH -- Janet M. Read, 64, of Ormond Beach, a former shipping and receiving supervisor, died Sunday at the Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Mrs. Read was born in Rutland, Vt., and moved to this area in 2000 from Saratoga Springs, N.Y. She enjoyed fishing, bingo, woodworking and gardening.

Survivors include a son, Tim, Colorado; a daughter, Lynn Bujanowski, and her father, Adrian Bishop, both of Florida; three brothers, Jerry Bishop, Florida, Tom Bishop, California, and Jim Bishop, Texas; two sister, Joan Knapp and Mary Ann Cruikshank, both of Florida; and a grandchild. Volusia County Cremation, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Gregory Roche Jr.

OCT. 10, 1934 -- APRIL 16, 2005

DELAND -- Gregory F. Roche Jr., 70, of Valley Forge Road, a former military science professor at Stetson University, died Saturday at Woodland Towers.

Mr. Roche was born in Atlantic City, N.J., and moved here in 1974 from Germany. During his 24-year Army career, he was an infantry and aviation officer and served two combat tours in the Vietnam War. In late 1977, Mr. Roche started a career in real estate and became a self-employed brokerowner and certified appraiser of West Volusia Realty. He also served as an instructor at West Volusia School of Real Estate at Daytona Beach Community College. Mr. Roche was a member of Rotary, the Moose and Elk lodges, DeLand Quarterback Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include a son, Greg, Hillsboro, N.C.; three daughters, Terri McIntyre, Ormond Beach, Leslie Rak, DeLand, and Chris Pugh, Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Pat Smith, Palm Coast, Regina Butt, Prescott, Ariz., and Marie Roche, Morristown, N.J.; and eight grandchildren. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

Paul Sabourin

MARCH 22, 1929 -- APRIL 17, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Paul Joseph Sabourin, 76, a security manager at the Ocean Center, Daytona Beach, died Sunday at Hospice Care Center.

Mr. Sabourin was born in Tupper Lake, N.Y., and moved here from New Jersey in 1978. He was a member of Kiwanis and the Boys Scouts of America. He also served as a fire department volunteer.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Shirley; three sons, Ron, Paul and Jeff; four daughters, Brenda Sabourin, Kathy Flores, Gail Boudreau and Sharon Dupoy; four brothers, Alderic, Leonel, Leon and Edgar; three sisters, Rita, Claire and Theresa; and 11 grandchildren. Michael Selvaggio Jr.

MARCH 19, 1955 -- APRIL 17, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- Michael T. Selvaggio Jr., 50, of Easy Street, a resident since 1958, died Sunday at Bishop's Glen, Holly Hill.

Mr. Selvaggio moved here from his birthplace, Lackawanna, N.Y. He enjoyed racing, football and helping others.

Survivors include a son, Eric, and his parents, Michael and Beatrice Selvaggio, all of Holly Hill; a brother, Thomas, Miami, and a sister, Yvonne Cornelis, Port Orange. Cora Baker
MAY 19, 1945 - APRIL 6, 2005

DELTONA -- Cora Lillian Baker, 59, of Fountainhead Drive, a medical assistant, died April 6 as the result of an automobile accident on 15A and Adelle Avenue in DeLand.

Mrs. Baker moved here in 1990 from Miami, her birthplace.

Survivors include her husband, Don. NewLife Cremation, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Mildred Blumenschein

OCT. 11, 1948 -- APRIL 18, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Mildred E. Blumenschein, 56, Eslinger Road, a native of Columbus, Ohio, died Monday at Bert Fish Medical Center.

Mrs. Blumenschein, an insurance clerk, graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in 1966. She moved back to this area in 1989 from Marysville, Ohio. Mrs. Blumenschein was a member of Christian Life Center.

Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Bob; three sons, Jack and Brian Prather and Bobby Blumenschein, all of New Smyrna Beach; a daughter, Kim Jerew, Richwood, Ohio; a brother, Leo Mitchell Jr., Marysville; a sister, Carolan Evans, New Smyrna Beach; and 12 grandchildren. Charles Carroll

OCT. 22, 1963 -- APRIL 17, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Charles Matthew Carroll, 41, of Elizabeth Street, a resident since 1996, died Sunday at Bert Fish Medical Center.

Mr. Carroll, an Army veteran, was born in El Paso, Texas, and moved to this area from Troy, N.Y. He was an avid musician and played the guitar.

Survivors include two daughters, Amy Lynn and Ashley Carroll, both of Cohoes, N.Y.; his parents, Joseph and Maria Carroll, and three brothers, Robert, Joseph and Milton, all of New Smyrna Beach; and a sister, Evelyn Carroll, Troy.
