Amedio Palmieri

MARCH 21, 1927 -- MAY 3, 2005

DELTONA -- Amedio "Muzzie" Palmieri, 78, of West Ninth Street, a former technician for IBM Corp., died Tuesday at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Orange City.

Mr. Palmieri, a Navy Seabee who served in World War II, was born in Long Island, N.Y., and moved here in 1996 from Endicott, N.Y. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge. Mr. Palmieri was an avid gofer.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Helen; two sons, Amedio Jr., Austin, Texas, and Michael, Endicott; two daughters, Teresa Blanchette, Vestal, N.Y., and Francine McKercher, Endicott; a brother, Enrico, Tampa; two sisters, Irma Ginicola and Radilla Costanzo, both of Deltona; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Florida, P.O. Box 549, Daytona Beach, FL 32115. Baldauff, Orange City, is in charge.

Louis Police

JUNE 3, 1918 -- MAY 2, 2005

ORMOND BEACH -- Louis A. Police, 86, of Bluewater Lake Circle, a resident since 1968, died Monday at Bridgeview Nursing Home.

Mr. Police, a Navy veteran of World War II, was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and moved here from Long Branch, N.J. He was self-employed. An avid athlete, Mr. Police was a Golden Gloves boxer and member of the Masonic Order.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gilda; a son, Joseph, Richmond, Ky.; two daughters, Maria Avallone, Ormond Beach, and Frances Graziano, Cary, N.C.; a brother, George, Lake Worth; two sisters, Julia Rotondi and Theresa Keating, both of Ormond Beach; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 111 N. Frederick Ave., Suite 100, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Patricia Roenicke

FEB. 24, 1931 -- MAY 3, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Patricia Elizabeth Roenicke, 74, of Cedar Dunes Drive, a secretary who retired from Great Lakes Paper Co. in Chicago, died Tuesday at home.

Mrs. Roenicke was born in Fort William, Ontario, and moved here in 1983 from Chicago. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.

Survivors include a brother, Desmond McKeown and a sister, Natalie Matheson, both of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Memorial donations may be made to Human Service Ministries, Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 4000 S. Atlantic Ave., New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168. Baldwin Brothers is in charge.

Alfred Schmidt

DEC. 11, 1909 -- MAY 2, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Alfred Schmidt, 95, of Thomasina Drive, a retired dairy farmer, died Monday at home.

Mr. Schmidt was born in Germany and came to this area in 1969 from Pennsylvania. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Helen; a son, Stanley, Ohio; a daughter, Linda Rainey, Port Orange; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Mary Stillwagon

MAY 28, 1962 -- MAY 1, 2005

DEBARY -- Mary "Mayia" Stillwagon, 42, of Fleetwood Avenue, an actress who appeared in several national and European television commercials, died Sunday at DeBary Manor.

A native of Cork, Ireland, Mrs. Stillwagon moved to this area from Kissimmee in 2004. She also worked as an extra in both the television and movie industries. Mrs. Stillwagon, an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church, enjoyed cooking, antiques, tennis, writing, canoeing and swimming.

Survivors include her husband, Paul; two daughters, Kailin and Maeve Fitzsimmons, both of New Jersey; two brothers, Michael and Brendon Killeher, both of Ireland; and four sisters, Pam, Paula and Jean Brosnan, all of Ireland, and Trish Brosnan, Scotland. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Phoenix Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Minnie Taylor

SEPT. 10, 1930 -- MAY 2, 2005

HOLLY HILL -- Minnie Lee Taylor, 74, of Wildrose Lane, who moved here from Georgia in 1965, died Monday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Mrs. Taylor, a homemaker, was born in Brunswick, Ga. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking.

Survivors include two sons, Don and Allen, both of Holly Hill; a daughter, Leila Cordaro, South Daytona; a brother, John Warner, Ocala; two sisters, Lula Mae, Georgia, and Mary Burchfield, Arizona; and six grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Franklin Taylor

JULY 24, 1921 -- MAY 1, 2005

ORMOND BEACH -- Franklin Swift Taylor, 83, of Cambridge Court, who formerly owned Taylor Insurance Agency, New Have, Conn., for 33 years before his retirement, died Sunday at Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lancaster, Pa.

Mr. Taylor, also a resident of Willow Street, Pa., was born in New Haven, and lived part-time in Ormond Beach for over 25 years.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Elinore; a son, David Bennett Jr., Chesapeake, Va.; two daughters, Shirley Taylor, Weston, Fla., and Ronalee Trogner, LeMoyne, Pa.; three grandsons; and a great-granddaughter. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603-9983; or to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603. Fred F. Margie Warren

MARCH 13, 1924 -- MAY 1, 2005

ORMOND BEACH -- Margie Warren, 81, of Royal Dunes Boulevard, a secretary with the Tennessee Valley Authority, died Sunday at home.

Mrs. Warren, a native of Alamo, Tenn., moved here in 1995 from Florence, Ala. She is a member of the Church of Christ, Holly Hill.

Survivors include a daughter, Nona Gray, Las Vegas; a grandson, Scott Fleischer, Palm Coast, who provided for her care; and a great-grandchild. Patrick Atchinson
AUG. 31, 1950 -- MAY 4, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Patrick Andrew Atchinson, 54, of Royal Palm Circle, a chauffeur for Trans Medic Transportation, Daytona Beach, died Wednesday at Hospice Care Center.

Mr. Atchinson moved here in 1990 from his birthplace, Schenectady, N.Y.

Survivors include a son, Patrick, a daughter, Jennifer Serviss, both of New York; his mother and stepfather, Lorretta and Robert Lassone, Daytona Beach; three brothers, Leonard, Michael and James, and a sister, Mary Jeffes, all of New York; and two grandchildren. Claude Bright

JUNE 27, 1945 -- MAY 2, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- Claude V. "Pancho" Bright, 59, of North Lincoln Street, a native and lifelong resident of Volusia County, died Monday at home.

Mr. Bright, a 1963 graduate of Campbell High School, was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include six sons, Claude Bright Jr., Dale and Chevis Bright, Calvin and George Green and Tommy Jackson, and six daughters, Denase Geathers, Gale and Jasmine Bright, and Dorothy, Vera and Charlene Green, all of Daytona Beach; a sister, Veola Waiters, Miami; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Gainous is in charge.

Marion Budd

SEPT. 2, 1924 -- MAY 4, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- Marion Budd, 80, of National Health Care Drive, a former secretary for the government, died Wednesday at The Health Center of Daytona Beach.

Mrs. Budd was born in New Brunswick, N.J., and moved to this area in 1974 from Texas.

Survivors include two sons, Charles, Ohio, and William, Colorado; a daughter, Donna Groch, South Daytona; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Norbert Desourdy

JULY 10, 1930 -- MAY 1, 2005

ORMOND BEACH -- Norbert "Mike" Desourdy, 74, of Fleming Avenue, who worked in the advertising department of The Providence Journal for more than 20 years before his retirement, died Sunday at his daughters home in Montpelier, Vt.

Mr. Desourdy, an Air Force veteran, was born in Pascoag, R.I., and moved here in 1999 from Rhode Island. He was a member of Knight of Columbus Pascoag Council 383.

Survivors include a son, Norbert Jr., Grafton, N.H.; two daughters, Julie Mecherky, Ormond Beach, and Christina "Tina" Coveney, Montpelier; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Waterman-Brown Funeral Home, Pascoag, is in charge.

George Dominianni

MAY 9, 1919 -- MAY 2, 2005

PALM COAST -- George J. Dominianni, 85, of Foster Lane, who retired as a meat inspector for the State of Florida, died Monday at Florida Hospital Flagler.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Dominianni, moved here in 1995 from Keystone Heights. He also retired as a meat dealer and owner of butcher shops in New York. He was a member of the Knight of Columbus and the Order of the Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ada; a son, Warren, Boston; a brother, Frank, Orange, Va.; and two grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Florida Elks Lodge Charities, co Ormond Beach Elks Lodge, 285 Wilmette Ave., Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Lettie Eastes

MAY 27, 1920 -- MAY 3, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Lettie Ryan Eastes, 84, a former waitress at the Streamline Hotel, Daytona Beach, and the Riverview Hotel, died Tuesday at Bert Fish Medical Center.

Mrs. Eastes was born in Marion, Ohio. She moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1922 from Ohio, then relocated to Indianapolis before she returned to the area in 1984. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Indianapolis and enjoyed going to the beach and sewing.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Roehrborn, New Smyrna Beach, and Sue Harding, Plainfield, Ind.; a brother, Grover Ryan, New Smyrna Beach; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Settle-Wilder is in charge.
