CARTER FIELDS, 70, of Brandon died Thursday. A native of Elberton, Ga., he moved to the area in 1952. He was a retired driver for Ryder Truck Lines, Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Faith Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Iris V.; three sons, Craig of Stone Mountain, Ga., David and Robert, both of Brandon; and three sisters, Winiford Wingard of Bartow, Mattie Lena Evanson of Elberton and Irma Jean Cooper of Concord, N.C. JOHN D. GAMBLE SR., 75, of Tampa died Friday. A native of Greenville, Pa,. he moved to the area in 1972. He was a pastor for the Assembly of God, a Navy veteran and member of the Faith Family Worship Center. He is survived by his wife, Grace; a son, John D. Jr. of Tampa; six daughters, Patricia Jackson, JoAnna Throop, Sherry McKinney, Linda Grant and Sharon Moon, all of Tampa, and Carol Jackson of Shinglehouse, Pa.; a sister, Esther Gardner of Burlington, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. SCRULIA L. HANCOCK, 79, of Dearing, Ga., died Thursday. A native of Lakeland, Ga., she lived in the Tampa area from 1948 to 1965. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Lewis W.; a son, Lewis E. of Joanna, S.C.; three sisters, Christine Pagano of Okeechobee, Irene Nichols of Zephyrhills and Barbara Tomlinson of Valrico; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was a farmer, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and a member of the Civil Air Patrol, VFW and the First Assembly Church of God. He is survived by his wife, Theo Patricia; two sons, Gene Edgar of Grand Junction, Colo., and Richard James of Hinesville, Ga.; two stepsons, Russell Stanley Caton of Modesto, Calif., and John Michael Caton of Ruskin; four stepdaughters, Susan May Schmidt of Tampa, Audrey Jean Spiller of Willis, Texas , Karen Marie Rose of St. Petersburg and Carolyn Butler of Orlando; two sisters, Helen Moffat of St. Petersburg and Adah Edwards of Seattle, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
