MAMIE BRANTLEY, 89, of Lithia died Thursday. She was a lifelong resident of the Tampa area. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Grove Assembly of God. She is survived by her husband, Ernest; four sons, Wilbur of Brandon, Ronald, Earl and Laverne, all of Lithia; a daughter, Betty Surrency of Lithia; a brother, Hubert Hunter of Lithia; six sisters, Bertha Tuten, Erma Lou Brantley and Nadine Faulkner, all of Lithia, Vera Dillon and Nellie Henderson, both of Plant City, and Myrtice Tew of Brandon; 17 grandchildren; and 26 great- grandchildren. Hopewell Funeral Home, Plant City.

HELEN BRINZEA, 78, of Tampa died Wednesday at Tampa General Hospital. A native of Barberton, Ohio, she moved to the Tampa area in 1983 from Farmington Hills, Mich. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Nick; a son, Gerald Heiser of Morehead City, N.C.; two daughters, Josette Cushman of Atlanta, and Laurette Gillespie of Woodbridge, Va.; a brother, William Kay of Akron, Ohio; four grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Neptune Society, Palm Harbor.

JAMES R. FREED, 75, of Tampa died March 31 at home. A native of Fulton, Ky., he moved to the Tampa area in 1956. He was a retired brewer for Anheuser- Busch, a Methodist and a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife Jean; two sons, Michael and Jim, both of Tampa; and two grandchildren. JAMES H. HESSE, 56, of Tampa died Wednesday at home. A native of Springfield, Mass., he moved to the Tampa area three years ago from East Longmeadow, Mass. He was a real estate broker for Meridian Real Estate and an Air Force veteran. He is survived by a daughter, Dawn Marie of South Boston, Mass.; a sister, Judith M. JEANNE E. JACKSON, 80, of Tampa died on Friday at home. A native of Altoona, Pa., she moved to the Tampa area 43 years ago from Panama City. She was a retired medical records secretary and a member of the Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Edward D.; a son, Edward D. Jr. of Douglas, Ga.; a daughter, Nancy Lee Piazza of Tampa; a brother, George D. Hower of Altoona; five grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. Glass Funeral Home, Tampa.

DONALD E. KOCH, 91, of Temple Terrace died Friday. A native of Williamsport, Pa., he moved to the Tampa area in 1968 from Sarasota. He was a retired engineer and a volunteer at University Community Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Irene; three sons, Gary of Tampa, Warren K. of Allentown, Pa., and Robert B. of Atlanta; a daughter, Barbara J. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances; a son Steven; two daughters, Patti Taylor of Lutz and Diane Wilson of Zephyrhills; four brothers, Donald and Jerome, both of Tampa, Glen of Palatka and Carl of Troy, S.C.; three sisters, Iris Songy of New Orleans, Arlene Mahoney of Tampa and Annette Merriman of Illinois; and two grandchildren. She is survived by five daughters, Incarnacion Lorenzo, Conchita Dufour, Sandra, Evangeline Davis and Cynthia Malott, all of Tampa; a son, Joseph R. of Tampa; a brother, Green Clark of Idaho; a sister, Shelley Jones of Murfreesboro; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. FRANK CHARLES REERS, 93, of Brandon died Friday at the Crystal Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Middletown, N.Y., he moved to the Tampa area in 1997 from Ware, Mass. He was a retired electrician for Union Carbide, and a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Hayesville, N.C.; a son, Charles Gerhardt of Aurora, Colo.; three daughters, Caroline Homs of Brandon, Theresa Crooks of Highbridge, N.J., Dolores Patricia Smith of Alabama; 13 grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.
