BARFIELD, John Ansel, 72, of Temple Terrace passed away January 26, 2001 at home with his family. He is survived by his wife, Bonnier; his daughter, Teresa; his grandson Johnathon (his best `Buddy`); his brothers, Jimmie of Folkston, Ga., Ted of Nashville, Tenn. and several special nieces and nephews. John was born in Randolph County, Georgia and moved to Temple Terrace from Texas with Xerox in 1972. After retiring from Xerox, John began a new career with Tam-Bay Realty, retiring again in 1999 as Vice President and General Manager. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He was always there for us. Those who so desire may make memorial contributions to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa, FL. 33609. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Prevatt Funeral Home 9750 N 55th Street, Temple Terrace (813)988-7371.

BEDENBAUGH, Benjamin Henry, 88, of Tampa, Fla. went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Survivors are Velma Lee, beloved wife of 65 years; stepdaughter, Freda of Tampa, three nephews and two nieces. He was born in Lakeland, Fla. October 14, 1912. He was a retired Army Major serving his country in World War II. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodis t Church and Community Lodge No. 292 F. & A.M. in Tampa. Upon retirement he moved to Tampa in 1956 with his family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, January 30, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the Glass Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Richard A. Paul and Rev. Jack C. Kelley will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday morning at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Bedenbaugh, may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

CHAMBERS Sr., GeraldPhillip, 69, of Plant City, Florida passed away on January 26, 2001 at his residence. Mr. Chambers is survived by his wife, Ruth Chambers of Plant City, Florida; two sons, Gerald P. and his wife Rosemarie Chambers of Mulberry, Florida and James and his wife Bonnie Chambers of Irvine, California; one daughter, Diana G. Chambers of Riverview, Florida; one step-son, Carl E. and his wife Lottie Wiggins of Plant City, Florida; one brother, Charles K. and his wife Loraine Chambers of Seattle, Washington ; and nine grandchildren. Mr. Chambers was preceded in death by his mother and father and his brother Bill. Mr. Chambers was born in Michigan, North Dakota. He was a staff sergeant in the United States Airforce. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2001 at Wells Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Monday before the service.

DAVIS, Robert Alvin, 77, native of Greenville, S.C., died Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at University Community Hospital, Tampa, Fla. He is survived by his loving wife, Esther, married 55 years; sons, Robert, Morgan, Dexter, Gary; daughter, Carol; grandson, Andrew O'Connor. Mr. Davis served our country as a U.S. Navy Fighter Pilot during World War II and the Korean War. He retired as an Airline C aptain from Pan Am and National Airlines after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Kendall Presbyterian Church, Miami, Fla., for 40 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kendall Presbyterian Church, 8485 S.W. 112 Street, Miami, FL 33156. HALL, Stephen, 79, died January 20, 2001 in Valrico. Born in New York, N.Y., he moved to the area in 1963. He is survived by his loving wife: Mae, daughter: Kathryn and husband Dan Stephan, son: Stephen and wife Mildred Hall. He was a Naval Veteran of World War II, former owner of Merit Orthopedic Lab, a semi-pro baseball player-manager, umpire and President of the Farmingdale, L.I. Little Leag ue. McGONIGLE, Martha Parrish, 53 of Morristown, N.J., formerly of Tampa, died January 19, 2001. She is survived by her children, Melanie and Walter Bowden; her mother, Lorraine A. Parrish of Tampa, Fla.; her sister, Elizabeth Yingling of Katonah, N.Y.; her husband, James J. McGonigle of Morristown, formerly of Chatham Township; and three stepchildren, Jay and Brian McGonigle and Leanne McGonigle P oth. Martha was born January 10, 1948 in New York City to James and Lorraine Parrish, but relocated to Tampa, Fla., where she spent most of her early years. She graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1965 and attended University of Florida where she received a degree in English. She taught for one year at Plant High School in Tampa. She spent the next 20 years in Savannah, Ga., as a wife and mo ther of two children. As an avid supporter of the arts, she was always involved in local theatre. She also worked with Historic Savannah and was a sustaining member of the Junior League. In later years, she moved to New York City and then to Connecticut where she served as director of public relations at Yale School of Drama/Yale Repertory Theatre. She married James J. McGonigle in April of 1997 a nd they divided their time between Morristown, New Jersey and New York City. She loved to travel, write and support local arts, serving as a volunteer with the Morris Museum, the Junior League of Morristown and was a freelance writer for several businesses. A Memorial Service will be held at the Old John Street United Methodist Church, New York City on Saturday, February 3, at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider the UNA of Northern New Jersey Hospital or the University of Florida English Department. NILES Jr., Edward Reynolds. A loving and dedicated husband, father and friend, went home to be with his Gracious Lord and Savior this past Thursday evening at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Janice D. Niles; and four daughters and two son and their spouses, Mary and Emanuel Godwin, Joan and Bill Boyce, Jane and Sam Short, Julie and Wally Osborne, Edward R. and Lori N iles III and Wade and Wendy Niles as well as Steve, James and Ben; two nieces; and five nephews; and 13 grandchildren. He was a retired tech sergeant for over 20 years with the United States Air Force and was with the United States Post Office for 17 years. He is also a member of Idlewild Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Bozeman and Pastor Ed Russo, Victorious Life Church officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7-9:00 p.m.

PEARSON, Conrad J., age 73, of Boone, North Carolina, a former resident of Tampa, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001, at home. He was born May 17, 1927, in Gastonia, N.C., to the late Abner and Emma Ellis Pearson. Survivors include his wife, Marie Hayes Pearson of the home; two sons, Steve Pearson and wife, Sandra, of Tampa and Donald Brugman and wife, Sandra, of Mashpee, Massachusetts; two daugh ters, Laura Imburgia and husband, John, of Tampa and Ms. Donna Colahan of Horsham, Pa.; one granddaughter, Meaghan Colahan of Horsham and two grandsons, Michael Colahan of Horsham and Jonathan Imburgia of Tampa; one sister, Mamie Lee Goodson and one brother, Glenn Pearson and wife, Louise, all of Gastonia, N.C. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. He was a U.S. Army veteran of th e Korean Conflict and a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College with a B.S. degree in Business. Mr. Pearson owned and operated Trotter Telecom, Inc. in Tampa from 1965 until 1990. A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel in Boone, with Rev. Melanie Childers officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at th e funeral home. A memorial Mass will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Linville, N. C., with The Rev. Al D'Silva officiating. STURGELL Jr., Charles ``Chuck" Chester, 66, of Largo passed away on January 25, 2001 at the Largo Medical Center after a massive stroke. He returned to the Tampa bay area, in 1997 from Lanham, MD. He was retired head of Advaced Development for N ASA, and involved in The Youth Mentoring Program at NASA member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion post No. 136. Served with the United States Navy Submariner during Korea, graduate of H. B. Plant High School of Tampa and Alumni of University of Fla. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2001. WINOKER, Joseph A., 74, of Tampa, Florida passed away on Friday, January 26, 2001. Survived by his wife, Julia Mittle Winoker; daughter, Diana Lee Winoker; son, David Mittle Winoker and his wife Della Ann Winoker; and two grandchildren. He attended the Citadel and received a masters degree in Bio-Chemical Engineering from Columbia University. Joe retired from Cambell Soup Company as a Vice Pre sident after sixteen years of service. Joe worked over fifty years in the citrus industry in the creation of juice drinks. His passion was attending the Buccaneer's games. He was a volunteer for Mayor Dick Greco and the Florida Aquarium. Joe enjoyed the companionship of his two dogs, Herman and Wino. Instead of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay or the Florid a Aquarium. The family will have a celebration of the life of Joe at the Tampa Garden Club, 2629 Bayshore Boulevard (813.251.5059), at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2001. Friends are encouraged to attend.

YOUNGBLOOD, Helen Mays, 86, of Tallahassee, died January 24, 2001 in Tallahasee. She is survived by a sister, Ellen Mays Parham and brother-in-law Les J. Parham of Tallahasee; nieces, Julia Frances Wood and Mary Ellen Bryson of Tallahasee, Sally Ann Johnson of Panama City, Fla., Carolyn P. Blackburn of Rydal, Ga., June M. Turner of Sarasota, Fla., Carolyn M. Cameron of Woodbridge, Va., Melba M. Maynard of Kissimmee, Fla., Cornelia H. Shockey of Riverview, Fla., and Patricia Y. Turnbull of Tampa, Fla.; nephews, L. James Parham of Havana, Fla., Charles Mays of Winter Haven, Fla. and H. W. `Bill` Youngblood of Atlanta, Ga. A native of Taylor County, Fla., she was a long time resident of Tallahasee and former resident of Tampa. The service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa, Fla.

CARTER, Elvin C., 74, of Zephyrhills passed away January 24, 2001. Survived by a son, Glenn of Zephyrhills; two daughters, Brenda Lisk of Dade City and Della Arnold of Zephyrhills; a step-son, James Clark of Marina, CA; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Carter was born May 8, 1926 in Cottondale, FL and came to this are in 1951 from Cottondale. He was a Baptist and a mechani c for Pasco Packing Plant and retired after 36 years. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at Whitfield Funeral Home with Rev. Steve McAdams officiating. Interment will follow at Oakside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Besides her husband of 36 years (Gary) she is survived by four sons, James Keena of Miami, David Keena of CA, Gary Scott Smith and John F.C. Smith both of MI; four daughters, Lucy Earl, Ginger Hupp, Holly Sewell and Robin Chrumbka all of MI; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Bette wa s born in Detroit, MI on March 19, 1926 to John F. and Jane Cowan. She was a homemaker and past operator of Pinewood Manor Rest Home in Michigan. Bette and her husband Gary moved to this area in 1986 from Pinckney, MI. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Grace Baptist Church of Dade City with Pastor Emmett Welch officiating. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Gardens Mausoleum in Dade City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
