Leighton in 1994; she is survived by her three sons: Dan B. Wood and his wife, Vonda of Plant City, Florida; John D. Wood and his wife, Beaulh of Williamsport, Tennessee; Earl B. Wood and his wife, L inda of Zephyrhills, Florida; her daughter, Jannie Getty and her husband, Kris of Plant City, Florida: four step-sons; Donald Leighton, Dawson Leighton, Doyle Leighton and Dalton Leighton; seven step-daughters: Doris Leighton, Dessie Ree Catrett, Dorothy Johnson, Delores Trice, Donnie Mae Prewitt, Doretha Speir and Dwenlene Baron; thirteen grandchildren, twenty four great- grandchildren, two great -great-grandchildren, and numerous step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday Morning, January 25, 2001 at Wells Memorial Funeral Home, 1903 West Reynolds Street, Plant City, Florida with Reverend Woodrow Kite and Reverend Ernest Holbrook, to officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, January 24, 2001 from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. A native of Hartford, Alabama and a local resident since 1945 when she moved here from Crystal Springs, Florida. Mrs. Wood-Leighton was a homemaker, a member of Crystal Springs Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, Florida and a member of Mt. Zion Assembly of God Church in Plant City, Florida. Final interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, Plant City, Florida.

She is survived by her husband, Richard, Zephyrhills; son, Rick and wife Vendetta, McPherson, Kan.; son, Gary and wife Cheryl, Wichita, Kan.; six grandchildren, Jessica, Tiffany, Brandi, Emily, Carrie and Katlin. She was raised and loved by her stepmother, Benny Dupps. She was predec eased by her parents, Viola Workman Dupps and Eugene Dupps. She graduated Deaconess School of Nursing in 1952 and was an RN. JOHNSON, Abner V., 89, of Dade City, died Saturday evening, January 20, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Margaret; one sister: Lorene Williams of Columbia, Tenn.; many nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. A native of Columbia, Tenn., he moved to Dade City 50 years ago from Dayton, Ohio. He was the owner of a sheet metal company. He was a U.S. Air Force vete ran of World War II and a life member of the D.A.V. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday (today) at the Coleman & Ferguson Funeral Home with Mr. Dale Garrison officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be made to the Hospice of Pasco, Inc., 3539 Universal Plaza, New Port Richey, FL 34652.

PEARSALL, Sheldon Jr. 77 passed away January 21, 2001 in Dade City. Survived by his companion, Erline Hurlcher; five daughters, Nancy Hawn, Judith Kuschill, Elaine Wilson, Ann Musgrove and Frances Burnett; two brothers, Maynard Pearsall and Duane Pearsall. Mr. Pearsall was born in Pontiac, Michigan and came here 15 years ago from Pontiac. He served as a Marine during World War II and was a Pres byterian. The Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at Whitfield Funeral Home. The Family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m., prior to the service. TALI, Edward J., 77, of Zephyrhills, died Saturday, January 20, 2001, at Sunbelt Health Care Center. Mr. Tali is survived by his wife, Lois of Zephyrhills; one daughter, Jamie Stratman and husband Mark of Dallas, Texas ; one son, Michael Tali of Zephyrhills, Florida; one sister, Pearl Harding and husband Francis of East Brunswick, New Jersey; a granddaughter, Shannon McMahon of Houston, Texas an d a grandson, Bryan Tali of Zephyrhills. He is predeceased by his mother, father, and a sister. Born in Highland Park, Michigan he moved to this area 14 years ago from Grand Blanc, Michigan. Mr. Tali was a retired school teacher and high school vocational coordinator for the Flint Atherton High School in Flint, Michigan. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Zephyrhills and served in the U.S. Army in both World War II and the Korean War. Services for Mr. Tali will be held at Oakley Funeral Home in Zephyrhills at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2001 with Rev. A.C. Bryant of Trinity United Methodist officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. The internment will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of f lowers the family has requested that donations be made in Mr. Tali's memory to either the Parkinsons Foundation or the American Legion. Oakley Funeral Home in Zephyrhills, Fla. is in charge of arrangements.

CALLAHAN, Joseph Andrew `Big Joe`, 60, of Lutz, Fla., passed away Friday, January 19, 2001. Survivors include his companion, Linda Person; their son, Joseph A. Callahan, Tampa; his daughters, Victoria McCracken and Duanita Wells; a brother, Roy Callahan, all of Hamilton, Ohio; and three grandchildren, April, Kayla and Kylen. A Memorial Service will be held Monday (tonight) at 6.00 p.m. at Stowers Brandon Chapel.

COLLINS, Carolyn S., 59, of Plant City, Florida passed away on Wednesday Morning, January 17, 2001. Preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Collins in 1992 and a son, Chris Collins in 1978, she is survived by her son, Brian Jeff Collins and his wife, Maria of Cooper City, Florida; a half-brother, Ralph of Powell, Tennessee and a grandson; Bryan Christopher Collins of Cooper City, Florida. F uneral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, January 23, 2001 at the Wells Memorial Funeral Home, 1903 West Reynolds Street, Plant City, Florida with Reverend R.L Polk, to officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon, from 2:00 till 4:00 p.m. A native of Tennessee and a local resident since 1974, when Mrs. Collins moved here from Orlando, F lorida, she was a teachers aid for 23 years at the Bryan Elementary School in Plant City, Florida and a member of Northside Baptist Church in Plant City, Florida. Final interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Plant City, Florida.

DUKE, Katie Lee, 86, resident of Tampa since 1941, died Sunday, January 21, 2001. She was a beloved mother and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Christie L. and Carl R. Nicholson, of Tampa; son and daughter-in-law, Marcus W. and Frances R. Duke, of Tampa; a sister, Mary Parker, of Perry, FL; a brother, Marcus S. Mills, of Port St. Lucie, FL; two granddaughters, adopted granddaughters, Evyn S. Brown and Shelby N. Zinkowski, both of Tampa; a great-grandson; and loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Duke was preceded in death by her husband, Albert W. Duke and a daughter, Zona Horta. She had worked in supply at Tampa General Hospital for twelve years and was a member of Ballast Point Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at Ballast Poin t Baptist Church, 5101 Bayshore Blvd. Dr. David F. Montalbano, Senior Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

FREY, Merle, B., 82, resident of Tampa since 1948, died Saturday, January 20, 2001. Survived by her brother; a sister, Mary B. Gettman, of Tampa; niece, Ann Zaharis; nephew, John David Gettman; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. HALL, Donald L., 72, of Lithia died January 20, 2001. He is survived by his sister, Velma Holland of Lithia. He was a counselor with alcoholics, in the County Stockade and many AA Groups in the area. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Erie McMichen and Rev. Larry Westman officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service time. KUSHMER, Hazel L., 80, of Lithia passed away January 20, 2001. Beloved mother and grandmother she was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Kushmer and son, William Kushmer. She is survived by her son, Henry `Pete`; daughters, Marion Boulware, Karen McFalls, and Vicki McClendon; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was a life long resident of South ern Hillsborough County. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. Malcolm Clements officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ruskin Memorial Park Cemetery.

LANGWORTHY, Ronald C., 67, of Brandon passed away at home on Friday, January 19, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Norma; two sons, Robert and Raymond, both of Farmington, N.Y.; and three granddaughters, Brook, Erika and Alycia. A native of Rochester, N.Y., Ron had resided here for 10 years. He had worked for Eastman Kodak for 33 years and was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #2383, Brandon an d Fraternal Order of Eagles #3566, Brandon. She is survived by one son: Cleveland of Ellisville, Miss., three daughters: Shirley and Edith, both of Springhill, Fla., and Alice of Martin, Ga., one brother: Edgar of Lucedale, Miss., and one sister: Elsie of Miss., twenty grandc hildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. She is survived by, two sons; three daughters; one brother; one sister; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, January 23, 2001 at the United Assembly Church with Reverend James Grubb, to officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, January 22, 2001 from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m.

POOLE, John L., 92, of Sun City Center, passed away Friday in Sun City Center. He is survived by his wife, Marilynn; two daughters, Grace Ann Harvey (Howard) of Oak Ridge, Tenn. and Lynne Zahnle of Fulton, Ill.; two sisters, Gertrude Poole of Fulton, Ill. and Janet Fovargue of Comanche, Iowa, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A native of Whiteside Co., Illinois, Mr. Poole moved to the area 23 years ago from Fulton, Ill. He was a retired Circuit Court Judge and a Navy veteran of World War II. A memorial service, will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the United Community Church in Sun City Center. Lewers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

RITCHER, Delmar Leon ``Slim", 89, of Plant City, Florida passed away on January 20, 2001. Preceded in death on January 18, 2000 by his loving wife of 64 years, Geneva Ritcher, he is survived by his loving family, a son, Eddie Ritcher of Plant City, Florida; four daughters, Linda Pope and her husband, Doug of Plant City, Florida, Pat Farmer and her husband, Owen of Weirsdale, Florida, Faye Lani er and her husband, George `Bubba` of Plant City, Florida, Judy Kay Heidenreich and her husband, Pete of Thonotosassa, Florida; a brother, Joseph F. Ritcher and his wife, Elenor of Plant City, Florida; a sister, Lorine Eakins of Brandon, Florida; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren. A native of Doren, Georgia and a local resident since 1924 when Mr. Ritcher moved here from Moultrie, Georgia, he was a member of the First Thonotoasassa Missionary Baptist Church and the owner of Ritcher Trucking Company until 1978 and then he continued his farming. Chosen to serve as pallbearers are, Paul Richter, Todd Ritcher, Dwayne Garrett, Danny Garrett, Michael Warren and Shawn Swindle. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, January 24, 2 001 at the First Thonotosassa Missionary Baptist Church, 10650 McIntosh Road, Thonotosassa, FL 33592 with Reverend Joe Harper, Reverend Otis Caudill and Reverend Tommy Burris, to officiate.
