ABBOTT, Raymond B. Jr., 86, of Sun City Center died October 19, 2001 at South Bay Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Irene; two sons, Bruce of Spencerville, Ind. and Duane of Toledo, Ohio; a daughter, Christine of Hillsborough, Calif. and four grandchildren. He retired in 1975 from the U.S. Air Force as a Colonel and retired in 1982 from the Owens-Illinois Company as a Research Engineer. He was a member of the Sun City Center United Community Church and The Retired Officers Association. The Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at Sun City Center Funeral Home with Rev. Louis Leone officiating. Interment with military Honors will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2001 at Florida National Cemetery. ARNOLD, Lorelei, 88, of Largo, died October 20, 2001. Survived by son, Walter; daughters, Patricia and Mary; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Moss-Feaster F.H.

ATKINS, Edwin P., age 78, a resident of Lakeland and a former resident of Plant City, passed away October 21, 2001 at his home. He is survived by his wife Donna L. Atkins; one son; one brother; one sister; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

BAUTISTA, Marta Evangelia, 66, of Tampa, passed away October 20, 2001 at her home surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her three children, Marta Menendez-Lyons and her husband, Randy Lyons, Luis Menendez Jr., and his wife, Diane Menendez, and Alicia Menendez-Tenny and her husband, Steve Tenny; six grandchildren, Joshua Lyons, Alicia Menendez, Stephan Lyons, Alec Menendez, Logan Tenny and Conner Tenny; her mother, Justa Aida Bautista; and nephew, Frank Bautista as well as numerous other family members and loved ones. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Born in Artemisa, Cuba, she came to Tampa in 1970 with her family. She was retired after 26 years with St. Joseph's Hospital pharmacy. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be made to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa, FL 33609. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 12 noon from the Chapel of Gonzalez Funeral Home with the Rev. Father Felix Sanchez, Pastor, St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. He is survived by his wife, Janet; four sons, Wesley Bland, Steven Bland, John Misiak and David Smith; five daughters, Diane Pounds, Cheryl Wilson, Pam Brownlow, Michelle Youngman and Sheryl Barnes; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born in Pheonix City, Ala., he moved to this area in 1947. He was a Protestant and a retired Major with the Tampa Police Dept. Visitation will be October 27, 2001 at 3:30 p.m. with services to follow at 4:30 p.m., both at Hillsboro Memorial F.H.

BURKE, Donald C., age 62, of Wesley Chapel, Florida passed away October 20, 2001. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mildred Burke; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Marc LeVine of Tampa, Florida and Catherine and Richard Glick of Fishers, Indiana ; grandsons, Thomas and William LeVine of Tampa, Florida; brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Jane Burke of Louisville, Kentuck y and Thomas Patrick and Helen Burke of Indianapolis, Indiana ; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Allen Bader of Jacksonville, North Carolina and their families. A native of Louisville, Kentucky Mr. Burke graduated from the University of Louisville where he and his wife met. He served in the United States Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and spent his career in management for Sears, Roebuck and Compan y and later the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation. In 1996, he and his wife moved from Indianapolis, Indiana to the New Tampa area where he was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. Mr. Burke was an avid fisherman and animal lover. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 25 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father John Pruitt officiating. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, October 24, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 9365 US Hwy. 19 N, Suite B, Pinellas Park, FL 33782.

BUTERA, Mary Patricia, 69, of Tampa passed away October 21, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph Butera, Sr. of Tampa; six sons, Peter Butera of Tampa, Nelson Butera of Valrico, Domenic Butera of Temple Terrace, Joseph Butera, Jr. of Tampa, Gaspar Butera of Valrico and Anthony Butera of Treasure Island; three sisters, Angie Fisher of Apollo Beach, Rose Lewis and Frances Pull ara, both of Riverview; aunt, Emily Burke of Tampa; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a wake service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. CLEMENTS, Walter M.,Sr. age 82, of Greenville, Mich. formerly of Lacoochee, Fla. died Saturday, October 20, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wives, Charlotte Elizabeth Oren Clements in 1951 and Catherine Collins Clements in 1996 and also his brothers, Jim and Wilbur and a sister, Louise Wanamaker. Surviving are his son, Marty and Kathy Clements of Gowen, Mich.; his step-daughters, Joanne M attheus of Conyers, Ga. and Darlene Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was born September 4, 1919 in Abbeyville, Ga. the son of George M. and Lelia Mae Sutton Clements. He was an engineer with the Seaboard Coast Line now GSX Railroad for 38 years and was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army and served in the US Army Reserves as a Chief Wa rrant Officer. He was a member of the San Antonio Community Church in San Antonio, Fla., was a 32nd Degree Mason, a former Shriner and for many years was a major blood donor with more than 29 gallons donated. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2001 from 1st Congregational Church in Greenville. Burial will be in Cobbtown, Ga. Memorials may he given to San Antonio Community Church. Hurst Funeral Home is serving the family.

CONRAD, Lois L., 94 of Lakeland, died October 18, 2001. She is survived by a grandson, Jeffrey Conrad of Raleigh, N.C. and a niece, Patricia Brown of Fincastle, Va.

CONTE, Samuel `Sam`, age 83 of Tampa, passed away October 21, 2001. He was preceded In death by his two brothers and three sisters and is survived by his sister, Mary Napoli; companion, Mary Wilson and many nieces and nephews. A native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Mr. Conte was co-owner of S. Conte Grocery Store in Robert City for more than 40 years. He was of the Baptist faith and was a U.S . Army veteran of World War II. He served from January 1943 to November 1945 in the Pacific Operation Area. He was awarded the Purple Heart for Bravery and was wounded in action. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to your favorite charity in memory of Mr. Samuel Conte. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Gonzalez Funeral Home, with Re v. Dr. B.J. Spoto-Russell officiating. HAMILTON, Marian Hazel, 90 of Riverview went home to be with her Savior on October 20, 2001. She is survived by her devoted husband of sixty-five years, Guilford Edwin; son, Ronald Hamilton and his wife Patricia of Arivaca, Ariz.; daughter; Karen McKlemurry; grandsons, William Hamilton of Hereford, Ariz., David Hamilton of Arivaca, Ariz. and Kenneth Fuller of Brandon; 13 great-grandchildren; si sters, Dorothy Deardorff of Los Angeles, Calif. and Gertrude Howard of Klamath, Ore. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Services will be held Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Lindsay officiating. Survivors include six sons, Gregory of Lutz, Clifford of Spotsylvania, Va., Bryan, Neil and Robert Jr. of Tampa, and Phillip of Punta Gorda; two daughters, Karen Marquis and Kristine Sivia of Land O' Lakes; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Born in Hardin, Ky., he cam e to Land O' Lakes 31 years ago from Branch Hill, Ohio. He was a retired machinist with Reynolds Metals (Old Dude); served in the Pacific during World War II with the USAAF; and was a former Commander with the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 11-09. His pasions in life were his children, his automobiles and fishing.

MCDONALD, Katherine E., of Odessa, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2001, at her home. Survivors include her husband, Frank; two sons, Patrick and Michael both of Seattle, Wash.; one daughter, Mary Catherine Peterson of Spokane, Wash.; one brother, Leroy Osborne of Sharpsburg, Ga.; two sisters, Eleanor Odom of Florence, S.C. and Carolyn Hammond of Newberry, S.C. and one grandchild. She was born in Summerton, S.C. She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 26, 2001 at 12:00 Noon at the St. Mary Catholic Church, 15520 N. Blvd., Tampa. The Interment will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. POUNDS, Judy, 61, of Valrico passed away Tuesday October 16, 2001. She is survived by her family and many friends. A Memorial service will be held Friday, October 26, 2001 from 2:00 til 5:00 p.m. at Tampa General Hospital 3rd floor Conference Room B301.

He is survived by his wife, Estelle; two sons, Mark Rowell and Glenn Rowell; three daughters, Karen Lovell, Linda Hall and Laura Rowell; one sister, Catherine Davis and six grandchildren. Born in Indian Trail, N.C., he moved to this area in 1945. He was a Baptist and a retired phone company fleet administrator. Graveside services will be at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens on October 24, 2001 at 12:00 p.m.

SIMS, Ethel, 87, of Ruskin, passed away October 21, 2001. She was a homemaker and the widow of Houston Sims. She is survived by her son, Melvin Sims and his wife, Dee, of Ruskin; three sisters, Elsie Crenshaw, Melba Ryder, both of California and Mildred Warner of Ruskin; three grandchildren, Debbie Daniels and her husband James, Melvin E. `Chip` Sims, and Beth Howard and her husband Scott, all of Ruskin; two great-grandchildren, Jaime Daniels and Hannah Sims; a daughter-in-law, Patty Sims and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sims was born in Erwin County, Georgia and came here in 1937. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday in Ruskin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to LifePath Hospice.
