RODRIGUEZ, Rene', 87, of Tampa, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital. A native of Tampa, born in Havana, Cuba, he moved to Miami in 1952 where he retired as a plumber, and returned in 1980. His memberships included the Plumbers Union Assoc., Local #519 and Biltmore Golf Club Assoc., both in Miami; the Northdale Golf Club and Centro Asturiano, both in Tampa. He also enjoyed playin g cards and dominoes. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Siomara; daughter, Irene Williams of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Roy and Richard of Tampa; sister, Rachel Alvarez of Tampa; two grandsons, Ronald Gary Williams, Jr. of Saugus, Calif. and Randall Williams of Chicago, Ill. and three great-grandsons.

SCHULDT, Lucille M., 94, of New Port Richey, died Dec. 5, 2001. She is survived by husband, Gerald; two sons; one daughter; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

SERINO, Anthony Michael, 91, of New Port Richey, died December 5, 2001. Survived by daughter, Edith Morgenstern; brother; sister and three grandchildren.

SKARDINA, Gordon E., 76, of Sun City Center, died December 2, 2001. Born in Benton Harbor, Mich., he moved to this area in 1995. Mr. Skardina was employed for 38 years with Indiana and Michigan Electric Co prior to retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and member of the Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ and Elks Lodge #541 of St. Joseph, Mich. A memorial service will be held on M onday, Dec. 10, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. in Lewers Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Richard Whitner officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Mr. Skardina is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sun City Center Emergency Squad, 101 Ray Watson Dr., Sun City Center, FL 33573 or The American Cancer Society, Brandon Unit, 717 W. SNYDER, Winnifred C., 84, died December 3, 2001. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including, Mark Hathaway and Lester Snyder, Sr., and great-nephews, Richard and Mark Hathaway, Jr.

VALENTINE, Joseph A. Sr., 81, of Palm Harbor, died Dec. 5, 2001. Survived by wife, Connie; son, Joseph; daughter, Maria; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren

WILLIAMS, Charles Edward, 38, of Tampa died December 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Mary Williams; sons, Anthony and Andre Smith; brothers, John, Terry and Rodger; sisters, Lucy, Mary, Shirley and Bonnie; mother-in-law, Dorothy J. Warren; in-laws, Chris Carson, Samuel and Maria Jackson; granddaughter, Destiny Smith; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and friends. Charles was born in Mason County, Ky., July 27, 1963 and was a chef. He was loved and will be missed by everyone in the hospitality industry.

EMSHWILLER, Darrell Russell, 72, of Travelers Rest, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Helen Green Emshwiller. A native of Blackford County, Indiana , had been a winter resident for the past 13 years, coming from Anderson, Indiana . He was a retired field operator for the American Electric Power Company in Muncie, Ind. Funeral services will be handled through the Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service in Anderson, Indiana .

ETTEL, Marlene `Mickie`, died on Dec. 5, 2001, after a prolonged illness in her home in New Port Richey. Survivors include her husband, Don; and two children, Terry Ettel and Tina Milam, of New Port Richey; and four granddaughters, Sunny, Doni, Leah, and Courtney; two brothers, Thomas Herold of New Port Richey, and Donald Herold of Franklin, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. MESSER, Bennett `Johnny`, 75, of Dade City, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001 in Dade City. He is survived by his wife, Sally M. Messer of Dade City; two daughters, Sharon Maniscalco of Zephyrhills and Barbara Messer of Trilby, Fla.; two sisters, Ila Mae Grubbs and Ardellia Varnadoe, both of Brooksville, Fla.; one brother, Barnett Messer of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one grandson, Christopher Josey. He was retired from the Interpace Corp. in Lacoochee, Fla., and was a former employee of Winn Dixie in Ridge Manor. He was an active member of the Church of God in Dade City. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday (today) at the Coleman & Ferguson Chapel with Pastor Al Coleman officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to service time, from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

O'NEAL, Ervin A., 78, of Dade City, died December 6, 2001 at home. Survivors include his wife, Betty; two sons, Larry of Dade City and Derryl of Zephyrhills; three daughters, Sharla Bailey of New Milford, Conn., Betsy O'Neal of Dade City and Tamnah O'Neal of Orlando; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A native of Winter Haven, he moved to Dade City in 1959. A veteran of the US Arm y during World War II, he was a retired Minister at the House of Prayer in Dade City. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 10, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Curtis officiating.

BARNES, Helen Marie, 83, of Fort Meade, died Wednesday, December 5, 2001. She was born in Hoboken, N.J. but considered herself a Floridian even with her Jersey accent. She moved to Tampa in 1940 where she resided with `her Curry` who preceded her in death two years ago. She was a Nurse. She and Curry retired to Fort Meade in 1983. She was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church. She is surv ived by one son, Michael C. Barnes of Brandon; two daughters, Carol A. Lutgen and Mary Ellen and her husband, Don Earls, all of Fort Meade; grandchildren, Lee Schetrompf, Karen and Paul Brooks, Kim and Mickey Wiltfang, Michael, Brandy and Ryan Barnes, Robbie and Wendy Robinson, Christie Robinson and fiance, Shannon, James and Brandy Robinson and Jeffrey Robinson and finacee, Kenzie; great-grandchildren, Brian and Kari Brooks, Katie Reevis, Tyler Wiltfang, and Tyler and Kyle Robinson; niece, Anne Greenwald and special friends, Joan Stedman and Judy Roy, along with many friends at Oakview Lakes. The family wishes to express a special `thank you` to Doctor Elena Botardo of Watson Clinic for her years of dedicated caring of Mom and to Bill Paul from St. Thomas Church for his loyal spiritual friendship. There will be a mass held Monday, December 10 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth's Church in Fort Meade and the family will be receiving friends at a luncheon at Oakview Lakes clubhouse immediately following.

BURNS, Edward D., 87, of Temple Terrace, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2001. Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his loving wife, Audrey; one son and one daughter. He is survived by four daughters; five sons; 22 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, December 10, 2001, 2:00 p.m. at the Garden of Memories Chapel of Lights Mausoleum where Ed an d Audrey will be entombed into their final resting place, together, forever. In lieu of flowers, donations to LifePath Hospice for the love and care given to Ed and his family in the final weeks preceding his death would be appreciated.

DAVIS, Ether Capps, age 92, died on Friday, Dec. 7, 2001. Born in Balm, Florida, she was a lifelong resident. She was a devoted companion to her late husband, Maron L. Davis, Sr., for 70 years. Family, church and community benefited from her commitment and support throughout her life. She is survived by daughter, Eloise Davis (Richard) Graves of Auburn, Alabama; sons, Maron Leroy (Velma) Davis, Sr. of Balm, Florida, Wayne Thomas (Madeleine) Davis of Brandon, Florida, and Gerald Kenneth (Janell) Davis of Balm, Florida; sisters, Ola Capps Alderman of Tampa, Florida, and Marie Capps Reed of Yorba Linda, California. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Davis was a lifelong member of Balm Baptist Church where she was active in all phases of church life wi th special emphasis on the Church's Mission Program. Visitation will be Sunday, 3 to 5 p.m. at Stowers Funeral Home, Brandon. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Balm Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery. Viewing at the church will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the M.L. and Ether Davis Memorial Fund at Balm Baptist Church.
