Cecelia Duckett Vickers
Mrs. Cecelia Duckett Vickers, age 90, of Tallahassee, Fla., died September 22, 2004. She was a homemaker.
A native of Miami, she lived in High Springs after the death of her husband, Luther Jackson "Jack" Vickers, in 1975 and moved to Tallahassee in 1995.
Survivors include a son, Thomas J. Vickers and wife, Mary Ann of Tallahassee, four grandchildren: Thomas E. Vickers and wife Dawn of Atlanta, Andrew C. Vickers and wife Susie of Seattle, Patrick J. Vickers and wife Laura of Tallahassee, and Catherine V. Johnson and husband Rick of Tallahassee, and seven great-grandchildren.
A service was held Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Tallahassee.
Pansy L. Strickland
Mrs. Pansy L. Strickland died in Gainesville, Fla. on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004 at the age of 94.
Mrs. Strickland lived in LaCrosse, Fla. up until 1964 when she moved to Gainesville, otherwise being a lifetime resident of the area. She was a homemaker until the death of her husband in 1959. She then attended nursing school at Alachua General Hospital, where she later worked as an LPN.
Affectionately known to many as "Granny," she loved to care for her family and was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was an active member of her church, Antioch Baptist Church in LaCrosse, Fla. where her funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 4, 2004 at 2 p.m. Interment was in the Antioch cemetery. A visitation was held at Milam Funeral Home in Gainesville on Sunday, October 3, 2004 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Mrs. Strickland was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Justice Strickland, and her daughter, Dorothy Jean Douglas. She is survived by her son, Thomas J. Strickland of Gainesville, her sister, Jeddie Hazen of Gainesville, and her six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Peter Edward Gloskowski
Mr. Peter Edward Gloskowski, 89, of Fort White, Fla. died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004 at Lake City Extended Care following an extended illness.
A native of Ravenna, Ohio, Mr. Gloskowski had lived in Fort White since 1998, moving from Boynton Beach, Fla. He was a metal machinist by trade and was of the Catholic Faith. In his spare time, Mr. Gloskowski enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Gloskowski, in 1998.
Survivors include three sons, John and Bettye Gloskowski of Fort White, Walter and Sharon Gloskowski of Belmont, Calif., and Edward and Sharron Gloskowski of Williamsburg, Va., five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, 2004 in Boynton Beach Cemetery
in Boynton Beach, Fla. The family received friends from 7 p.m.. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 5 at Sherrill-Guerry Funeral Home, Lake City, Fla., which is in charge of all arrangements.
Katy Reese Anderson
Mrs. Katy Reese Anderson, age 79, of High Springs, Fla., died December 2, 2004 in Gainesville.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She lived in High Springs from 1950 to 1971, then moved to Crawfordville before returning to High Springs in 2000. She was a graduate of Chilocco Indian Agricultural School. Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker, a member of the Western Cherokee Nation, and a member of First Baptist Church in High Springs.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Anderson, and a granddaughter, Kendra Stone.
Living relatives include her husband, Melvin Anderson, High Springs; three daughters: Mary K. Anderson, High Springs, Susanne Lankford, Pensacola, and Jean Anderson Fairley, Charlotte, NC; three sisters: Lavera Middlebusher, Pnca City, OK, Jimme Leah Tsoodle, Meers, OK, and Martha Cook, Hot Springs, AR; four brothers: Rora Reese, Jr., Portland, OR, Roger Reese, Seattle, WA, Ben Reese, Portland, OR, and Henry Reese, Ft. Gibson, OK; six grandchildren: Frank Williams, Rory Williams, Anderson Fairley, Jessie Nancy Fairley, Jimmy Lankford, and Heather Noon; 10 great-grandchildren: Tommy Williams, Jake Williams, Jacy Williams, Audrey Barwick, Gaelan Williams, Kathryn Williams, Brittany Campeau, Kevin Noon, Justin Noon, and Rebecca Noon.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2004 at New Hope Cemetery
in LaCrosse, Fla., with the Rev. Morris Beck conducting the service. Burial was under the direction of Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs, Fla.
Visitation was on Sunday, December 5, 2004 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of North Central Florida, Development Department, 4200 N.W. 90th Boulevard, Gainesville, FL 32606-3809.
Velma Leona Cruse
Mrs. Velma Leona Cruse of High Springs, Fla. died Thursday, December 2, 2004 at Shands at AGH. She was 72.
Mrs. Cruse was born in McMinville, Tenn., and moved to High Springs from Tennessee 47 years ago. She worked on a poultry farm. She was a member of the Pentecostals of Gainesville.
Mrs. Cruse was preceded in death by sons Larry Young and Charles Young.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Cruse of High Springs; a son, Ricky Hill of High Springs; daughters Velma Irene Ryder of Waldo and Barbara Scott of Gainesville; a brother, Ben Rutledge of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, December 6, 2004 at The Pentecostals of Gainesville Church, with the Rev. Jeffery Wayne Arnold conducting the service.
Burial was in Newnansville Cemetery
under the direction of Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs, Fla. Visitation was on Sunday, December 5, 2004 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
William Eugene Hamm Sr.
Mr. William Eugene Hamm Sr. of High Springs, Fla. died Thursday, December 2, 2004 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 71.
Mr. Hamm was born in Norman Park, Ga., and moved to High Springs from Tifton, Ga. 42 years ago. He was a district sales manager for Purina, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Hamm was a member and trustee of First Methodist Church of High Springs.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Hamm of High Springs; a daughter, Genia Langley of Brooksville; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Karen Hamm of St. Petersburg; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at First United Methodist Church of High Springs with the Rev. Alan Patz conducting the service.
Burial was in Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central under the direction of Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs, Fla. Visitation was on Friday, December 3, 2004 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Henry Bell
Mr. Henry Bell, 86, formerly of High Springs, Fla., died December 5, 2004 at the home of his niece, Carolyn Varner, in North Charleston, SC.
Mr. Bell was a member of Allen Chapel AME Church in High Springs, and under the Watch Care of Zion AME Church in North Charleston, SC.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Bell of Jersey City, NJ; three sisters: Nora Brown of Jacksonville, Fla., Ida Mae Jones of North Charleston, SC and Leatha Parks of High Springs.
Funeral services for Mr. Bell will be Friday, December 10, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Allen Chapel AME Church, the Rev. Ocelia W. Wallace, Pastor, and the Rev. Tony Gordon, Eulogist.
Burial will follow in Fort Call Cemetery, Providence. Visitation will be Thursday, December 9, 2004 at A. Jerome Brown Funeral Home from 6 p.. to 8 p.m.

LouDell Anspach
LouDell Anspach, 60, of Eustis died Saturday (Sept. 30, 2000). Born in Paragould, Ark., she moved to Eustis in 1996. She was an office clerk for Consumer Power Electric Co. Survivors include her husband, James G. of Eustis; a brother, Fred McCaskill of Linden, Mich., and her mother, Gladys McCaskill of Burton, Mich. Beyers Funeral Home, Umatilla.
Ada E. Atkinson
Ada E. Atkinson, 91, of Eustis died Friday (Sept. 29, 2000). Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she moved to Central Florida in 1996. She was retired from Mayes Department Stores, New York. She was a member of Bellmore Fire Department Auxillary, V.F.W. Auxillary and she was a Gold Star Mother. Survivors include four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. David A. Dunstan, 62, of Leesburg died Friday (Sept. 29, 2000). Born in Okahumpka, he was a lifelong resident of Lake County. He was a retired owner and operator of Dunstan and Sons Plumbing. He attended His Fellowship Church in Lady Lake. He was involved with the Boy Scouts. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee of Leesburg; his father, William T. "Bill" of Leesburg; his stepmother, Jeanette Dunstan of Leesburg; two sons, Andrew Allen Dunstan of Gainesville and Jesse Joel Dunstan of Leesburg and an aunt, Ruby Fielding of Leesburg. Audrey Alice Wilson
Audrey Alice Wilson, 61, of Lady Lake died Thursday (Sept. 28, 2000). Brn in Troy Township, Ohio, she moved to Lady Lake from Willowick, Ohio in 1995. She was retired after 25 years as an assistant manager for Cleveland Trust, Cleveland, Ohio, and was currently a cashier at Wal-Mart of Summerfield, and formerly of Leesburg. She attended Chapel of All Faiths, Lady Lake. Survivors include a son, Victor H. Ruffaner of Sandsprings, Okla; a brother, Richard H. Scott of Lady Lake and four grandchildren. Beverly Charlene Williams, 66, of Tavares died Thursday (Sept. 28, 2000). Born in Longmont, Colo., she moved to Tavares from Accra, Ghana in 1984. Thomas Herman Buck, 91, of Leesburg died Saturday (Nov. 18, 2000). Born in Carroltown, Pa., he moved to Leesburg in 1979 from Erie, Pa. He was retired from General Electric and was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. He was also a member of General Electric Fishing Club of Erie, Pa. He was active in water related activities.
