BERKHAN, William J., 75, of Tampa died April 3, 2002. He is survived by Nancy, his wife of 52 years; two sons, Frank and Daniel; 2 granddaughters, Tiffany and Ashley Berkhan; one grandson, Dwayne Berkhan; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Berkhan was preceded in death by his son, Michael. William was born in Jacksonville, Fla., and lived in Tampa since 1947. He was a retired financial advisor for CIGNA Insurance Company, a Navy veteran of World War II, and member of Fellowship Lodge No. 265 F. & A.M. Funeral services will be Friday 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m at

CAMPBELL, Fred W., died Dec. 31, 2001, in Temple Terrace. Born in Frankfort, Ind., he graduated from University of Michigan Law School and was Judge of the 45th Judicial Circuit of Indiana for 21 years. He retired and moved to Temple Terrace in 1978. Survivors include his wife Margaret; one son, Fred W. Campbell, Jr. M.D.; one stepson, Bill Bowman; one stepdaughter, Ann; and eight granddaughters.

CASAL, Felicia D., 73, passed away March 31, 2002 in Tampa. She is survived by her husband, Alfonso; two sons; one daughter; one daughter-in-law; one son-in-law; two sisters; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one niece.

CASTINER, Claire Patricia, 80, of Tampa, died April 2, 2002. She was born in Newark, N.J., and was a retired telephone company accountant. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Castiner; and is survived by daughter, Susan C. Phillips and grandson, Christopher Phillips, both of Tampa. Her hobbies were Bingo and crocheting. A memorial Mass will be recited at 10 a.m. Friday, April 5 at Christ the King Catholic Church.

CONROY, Nereida, age 70, of Tampa, passed away April 2, 2002. A native of Santurce, Puerto Rico and resident of Tampa for the past four years; Mrs. Conroy is survived by her daughters, Aileen and Carol Conroy; sons, Michael, Patrick, Eddie and Christopher Conroy; brothers, Paco, Baldo, Monchito and Raymond Cruz; sisters, Angelica Medichi, Iris Cruz, Cuca Cruz and Miriam Escalera; and eight grandchildren.

DOUGLAS, Irma C., 85, of Holiday, died on April 2, 2002. She is survived by two sons, Roger and Danny; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister; one brother.

DOUGLAS, Jerry Jerome W., of Sun City, Fla., age 91, passed away on April 3, 2002 at the Courtyards Assisted Living Facility. He was born August 21, 1910 in Sheboygan, Wis. He graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1934 and after starting his dental practice in Sheboygan, joined the U.S. Navy Dental Corps during World War II. While stationed at the Naval Attache in London wi th duty in Grosvenor Square, formerly called SHAEF (Eisenhower's headquarters), he replaced a filling for Eleanor Roosevelt, and checked the teeth of Ed Stettinius, U.S. Secretary of State, and Senator Vandenburg, Secretary of War. After the war he returned to his practice in Sheboygan until retiring in 1957, to join the K. W. Muth Co., Sheboygan, Marketing Division until fully retiring in 197 5. At that time he and his wife, Margaret Welch Douglas, who preceded him in death in June 1988, moved to Florida to pursue their shared passion for golf. Dr. Douglas continued to be an active member of the Kings Point golf courses until the age of 89, and accomplished two holes-in-one during his golf career. He is survived by son, Thomas Douglas, Tampa, Fla.; and daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Anne) Wollner, Greensboro, Ga. and Mrs. Jay (Marilyn) Francis, Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 4 at 10 a.m. at Courtyards Assisted Living, Sun City Center. Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Rochester, Minn.

FERNANDEZ, Enrique, age 101, of Tampa, passed away April 2, 2002. A native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Mr. Fernandez was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 76 years. Eurasia Fernandez; and is survived by his daughter, E. Lindy Fernandez; son, Henry J. Fernandez and wife, Irene; grandson, Henry Fernandez and wife, Vivian; great-granddaughter, Danielle and Robin Fernandez; six nephews and one niece. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 o'clock from the chapel of Gonzalez Funeral Homo, with interment to follow in Centro Asturiano Memorial Park. Pallbearers include Henry, Albert, Thomas, George, Oscar, Robert and Richard Fernandez. In lieu of flowers, contributions may he made to the charity of your choice in memory of Mr. Fernandez. GILBERT, Gwendoline Elizabeth (nee Olden), passed away Saturday, March 30, 2002 in Tampa. She was Catholic by faith and lived in Tampa since 1964. She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 37 years Ray S. Gilbert and many very good close friends. Gwen was sister of Shirley, Christine, Vera, Bill, the late Cecil and daughter of the late Captain Charles C. Olden (of England) and the late Dorothy Olden. Gwen was an avid reader and library patron, very active in her community with her church's Bible Camps, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Tampa Palms Elementary School programs, active in Rosary Groups and always available when her friends needed her. Viewing will be at Blount Curry & Roel Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Ave. 968-2231 Friday, April 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be Saturday, April 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church 15520 N. Boulevard, Tampa, 961-1061. Internment will be Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell on Monday, April 8, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Gwen would have liked donations made to St. Marys / St. Vincent de Paul.

HASTING, David M., age 64, of Plant City, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2002. Mr. Hasting was a retired poultry farmer and veteran of the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, June of Plant City; one son, Dwight L. Hasting: one daughter, Sabrina Huggins; his mother, Emmie Hasting; one brother, Roger Hasting all of Plant City; two sisters, Sadie Ouzts of Plant City and Myrtle Watkins of Lendon, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Hannah and Chanse Huggins, Darby and Cassidy Hasting all of Plant City. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 4, 2002 from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be on Friday, 10:30 a.m. at Wells Chapel with L.B. Keene and Richard Joyner officiating. Interment in Memorial Park.

Mr. Lasita was a retired Master Sergeant, U.S.A.F. and and also retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was of the Catholic faith. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2002 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. with Full military Honors by MacDill Air Force Base Ceremonial Team. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the funeral home with a Wake Service beginning at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc. or the American Diabetes Assoc.
