DE GUZMAN, Mary, 86 of Tampa, passed away on July 19, 2002. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernabe `Barney` De Guzman. Survivors include her daughter, Jeanette Valenti and husband Nicolas; sister, Rose Roel; granddaughters, Lisa Valenti, Loren Carr and Lynette Katare and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. De Guzman was a lifelong resident of Tampa and a 50 year member of the Opti-Mrs. of Ybor City. She was also a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church Choirs. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 9365 U S Highway 19, N., Pinellas Park, FL 33782. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul on Saturday, August 17, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3012 Cherry St., Tampa. The family will have a gathering of friends and family following the funeral mass at Capdevila at La Teresita Restaurant, 3246 Columbus Dr.. W., Tampa.

DYER, L. Webster `Webb` III, 79, of Sun City Center, passed away Friday, August 9, 2002 at LifePath Hospice House in Freedom Plaza after a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor Schaller Dyer of Sun City; his devoted son, Michael William and his wife, Nancy of Natick, Mass.; his two grandsons, Timothy Curtiss and Brett Alden, also of Natick; his sisters, Winifred Barker of Sarasota, Fla. and Dorothy Jackson of Portland, Maine; his nieces, Betty Atwater of Sarasota, Fla., Judy Fratus of Naples, Fla. and Linda Barker of Reston, Va.; and his nephews, Bradley Barker of Boise, Idaho and Robert Loosman of Northport, Fla. He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth. He was born May 11,1923 to Julia Winslow and L. Webster Dyer Jr. in Portland, Maine. He spent many years in Cap e Elizabeth, Maine before moving to Dover, Mass., Orchard Park, N.Y. and retired to Waterford in Venice, Fla. He has lived in Sun City since 2000. Mr. Dyer graduated from Deering High School in Portland Maine and Norwich University in Vermont. He was a lieutenant in the 234th Army Air Force Base Unit and his specialty was as a bombardier. Mr. Dyer spent 35 years working for Sealtest Foods where he was a Regional Sales Manager before moving to G. R. Bennett Food Brokerage in Buffalo, N. Y. as a Senior V.P and Principal. A memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 14 at Freedom Plaza, Sun City Center with the Chaplain Dana Narring officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia Foundation, IWMF Business Office, 2300 Bee Ridge Road, Suite 301, Sarasota, FL 34239-6226.

FERREIRO, Elias, 69, of Ybor City, died August 9, 2002. Survived by son, Angel Ferreiro of N.J.; and grandchildren, Jose Rosas and Angel Rosas, both of Land O' Lakes.

HESS, William E., 64, of Tampa, passed away May 25, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Laverne; and many loving relatives. Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m. August 19, 2002 at Florida National Cemetery.

HOULIHAN, Jr., Frank M., Col. USAF, Ret, passed away August 10, 2002. Col. Houlihan was born in Thomasville, Ga. and raised in Tampa. He was the son of Frank M. and Mae S. Houlihan. He attended Gorrie and Mitchell schools and was in the first class at Plant High School where he played football. He attended the University of Tampa on a football scholarship. He married Gwendolyn Bond Houlihan on May 5, 1938 and together they shared a loving marriage of 64 years. In 1942, he joined the United States Air Force and attained the rank of full Colonel before retirement. Upon retiring from the Air Force he was employed by the State of Florida for several years. He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn and a sister Margarite Hope. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16, at 10 a.m. at the Hyde Park United Methodist Church with The Rev. James A. Harnish, Senior Pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park with Full military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Hyde Park United Methodist Church Building Fund.

HUFFMAN, Clark, 84, of Plant City, died August 11, 2002. He is survived by his sons, David of Salt Lake City, Utah, Clarence `Chip` of Brentwood, Tenn. and Jon of New Orleans, La.; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Sara Huffman. Clark was a member of the Wagoner Memorial Church of the Nazarene where he was also a board member, a member of Gideons, and had been a plant supervisor for Ohio Edison Co. Funeral services will be held in the Wagoner Church of the Nazarene on Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with interment following in Memorial Park Cemetery.

KUBALA, Joseph C., 88, of Tampa passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Kubala; daughter, Virginia Hipshire and husband John; son, Robert Kubala and wife Marie; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, August 16 at St. Mary Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. LAMPKINS, Equilla, 90, of Tampa died August 9, 2002. She was born in Camilla, Ga., was a cook for University System, and was a Catholic by faith. She is survived by three grandchildren. Eastside F.H.

MASSARO, Olga F., 88, of West Haven, Conn., died August 9, 2002. She was the widow of Peter F. Massaro. She was a retired seamstress for Reis of New Haven. She hade been a resident of Valrico for over 20 years. Burial will take place in Brandon, Fla. She leaves sons, Peter V. and Richard F. Massaro of West Haven; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was predeceased by sisters, Anna Farina and Esther Milano; brothers, Gerard and Elpidio Farina; and a grandson, Michael J. NORTON, Doris, 93, of Holiday, died August 12, 2002. Survived by son, James of Ocala; daughter, Carol of Tarpon Springs; six granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.

OLLIS, Frances Laverne, 67, a longtime resident of Tampa, passed away August 10, 2002. She is survived by her loving mother, Dorothy Costello Lundy; four sisters; three brothers; four daughters; four sons; eighteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her wisdom and love will be sorely missed by everyone who's life she touched. (God bless her.) A viewing will be held August 15, 2002 from 11:00 to 1:00 at the Garden of Memories Chapel, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, followed by a short funeral to say good-bye.

OSER, Phyllis G., 92, of Tampa passed away Sunday, August 11, 2002. Survivors include her daughter Doris Jean Elarbee and son-in-law Thomas Byron Elarbee of Tampa; one brother, Ernest Lyle Griffin, Jr., of Baton Rouge, La.; one sister Doris Vanard Griffin of Tampa; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth J. and her husband, Sean McCarthy; one great-grandson, Dylan Elarbee McCarthy. Mrs. Oser was a lifelong resident of Tampa, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Tampa, and the P.E.O.'s and Alpha Delta Pi sorority, and the National Secretary's Assoc. Mrs. Oser was a Sunday School Teacher and secretary for the primary department for over 50 years. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2002 at the Culbreath Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Tampa. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 15, 2002 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Marsicano Chapel, 4040 Henderson Blvd.

TUDELA, Henry M., 86, of Tampa, Florida passed away on August 11, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Tudela was a lifelong native of Tampa. He was well known as the piano man who tickled the ivories at the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City for 63 years. Preceded in death by his wife, Lucille (Toby) Marrs Tudela in 2000. Survivors include his sister, Carmen Cone and her husband, Dub of Albany, Ga.; nieces, Sauni Britt and her husband, Olin of Plant City and Karen Cone of Columbia, Missouri; nephew, Neil Cone and his wife, Gail of Atlanta, Ga.; cousin, Sylvia Bath-Buttram of Tampa. In keeping with Henry's wishes, there will be no services. Interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. Donations may be made to LifePath Hospice, in memory of Henry M. BACON, Robert F., 83, passed away August 7, 2002. He is survived by his loving family and many friends. Mr. Bacon was a Veteran of the Navy.

McCABE, Mark Bowman, 38, of Dade City passed away on Monday, August 12, 2002 at Tampa General Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was employed by Pasco Beverages where he was Director of Procurement. He graduated from Pasco High School and then from Auburn and Clemson Universities. Mark was very involved in the Dade City Little League coaching both the girls and boys little league teams. He is survived by his son, Marshall, his daughter, Morgan, and their mother, Trina McCabe of Dade City; loving parents, Mac and B.J. McCabe of San Antonio; his sister, Lisa Archibald and her husband Bo and children Bowman and Garrett of San Antonio; his brother, James P. McCabe and his wife Linda and children Raven and Patrick of San Antonio; and he leaves behind many aunts, uncles and c ousins. He will be remembered and missed by his many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church with Rev. Lewis Tanno officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in San Antonio. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Coleman & Ferguson Funeral Home. The Mark McCabe Memorial Fund for the Dade City Little League has been established and contributions may be made at any Sun Trust Bank Branch.

BOUSSUM, Winifred Z., 89, passed away August 13, 2002 in Tampa, Fla. She was born in Winslow, Arizona daughter of William A. Stoner and Harriet Jane (Karr) Stoner. She attended grade school and high school in Toledo, Ohio and went on to Bowling Green University to receive her B.S. Degree in Education. After teaching ten years in Toledo she moved to White Lake Township Michigan where she married her husband, had two sons, James L. and Oral E. Jr. After teaching 23 years in Dublin Elementary she and her husband retired and commuted to Tampa for the Winter, until 1983, when they stayed year round. They were members of Christ Lutheran Church, Waterford, Michigan and assoc. members Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tampa. Also member of Commerce Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #301, Commerce, Mich. She is survived by two sons, James L. and his wife Marge, and Oral Jr. and his wife Sheila; grandchildren, Oral E. III, Raymond MacIntosh and his wife Jennifer, Colleen Nordstrom and her husband Dale, Kelly Buckberry and her husband Eric, Jerry Cooper, and Patrick Cooper and his wife Shannon; and great-grandchildren Chase and Payton MacIntosh, Brendan and Garrett Nordstrom, Paige Buckberry and Sydney Cooper. Funeral services will be held at the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home 3295 E. Highland Rd, Highland, MI 48356.

BRANCATO, Carmela, 79, of Tarpon Springs, died August 12, 2002. She is survived by son, Richard; daughter, Kathleen Mahnken; brother, Carl Montalbine; and four granddaughters. Dobies F.H.

BROWN, Lorene F. `Rene`, age 80, of Tampa, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2002. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Cecil Brown. Survivors include five brothers, Hervey M., Charles and Ray Fults of Tampa, Hugh and James Fults of Inverness, Fla.; and many loving nieces and nephews. A native of Grundy County, Tenn., Mrs. Brown had been a resident of Tampa since 1950, coming from Georgia. She attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tenn. and was an insurance underwriter. She was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning 10:00 a.m., August 17, 2002 at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave., with interment to follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

CARLSON, John A., 53, of Tampa passed away Thursday, August 8, 2002. Survivors include his sister, Donna Pallendino and brother-in-law Michael of Columbia Station, Ohio; one niece, JuliAnne Pallendino; one nephew, Nicholas Pallendino; and his dear friends, Doug and Ellen Beam and family. A native of Cleveland, Ohio Mr. Carlson lived in the Tampa Bay area this past 20 years coming from Berea, Ohio. He was employed by Henkels & McCoy. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Viet Nam. He was a member of B.P.O Elks of Tampa No. 708, I.B.E.W. Local No. 108. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, August 16, 2002 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
