MILTON, George Henry, passed away, August 14, 2002 in Zephyrhills. Mr. Milton was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and also a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; sons, Gary and wife, Nickie Milton of Dade City and Steven Milton of Orange County, N.C.; sisters, Helen Murray of Holyoke, Mass. and Rita Healey of Melbourne, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Rachel Milton. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Whitfield Funeral Home with Father George Rozycki officiating. Interment will follow at the Florida National Cemetery with military Honors provided by VFW Post 8154.

BOX, Martha Hotchkiss, 90, of Tampa, died August 15, 2002 at Memorial Hospital. She was born in San Diego, California and moved to Tampa in 1972 from Washington D.C. She is survived by her husband, Clyde Box; two daughters, Molly McGregor and Catherine McGregor, both of Tampa; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 906 Orleans Avenue, Tampa, Florida. In lieu of flowers, kindly give to a charity of your choice.

CANTERO, Velia M., 74, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Waldo `Chile` Cantero; her three children, Velia Pedrero, Carmen Diez and Frank Cantero; son-in-law, Jerry Pedrero; and daughter-in-law, Sandi Cantero, all of Tampa. She had four grandchildren, S hannon Pedrero, Ryan Diez, Ashley and Amber Cantero and one great-grandchild, Ryan Diez, Jr. Mrs. Cantero was a native of Tampa and graduated with honors from Hillsborough High School. She retired from the City of Tampa after twenty five years of service. A private memorial service for the immediate family will be held Saturday. CREECH, Jerry D., 58, died at home with hospice on August 13, 2002. He is survived by his life partner Beverly; children, Jerry Donald Creech, Jr., Dennis Creech and Melissa Hollowell; 12 grandchildren; his mother, Pearl Johnson Pearsall; sister, Liz Creech and brother Jim Creech and their families. FERNANDEZ, Jose Maria, of Lutz, born March 21, 1910 in Yyantralles-Grado-Oviedo, Spain, passed away Thursday August 15, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dalia. Survivors include two sons, Edward Fernandez and wife, Sylvia and Dr. Raymond Fernandez and wife, Dr. Joni Klapper; daughter, Drucilla Diaz and husband, John; brother, Alvaro Fernandez and wife, Yolie; sister-in-law, Josephine Llano; seven grandchildren, Edie Backman and husband, Steve, Stacy Pratt and husband, Russ, Ashley Reynolds and husband, Kevin, Anthony Prieto and wife, Kelly, Alan Prieto and wife, Carrie and Elon and Marty Fernandez; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Lindsay and Alex Backman, Taylor and Christopher Reynolds, Tyler and Jake Pratt; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. LINDLAU, John S., 82, of Sun City Center, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at his home. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 54 years, Ruth Wilbur Lindlau. His other survivors include his son, Keith H. Lindlau, daughter-in-law, Stephanie and their sons, Keith Jr. and Jonathon of Denton, Texas ; his daughter, Kim Eve Speech, son-in-law, Michael and their daughter, Kristina of Winston, Georgia;, and numerous relatives and dear friends. Born in Ossining, New York on January 12, 1920, he grew up in New York and Connecticut and attended the University of Bridgeport and the American Institute of Banking. He had a successful career in purchasing and accounting before relocating to Florida in the 80's. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed. May he be free as a butterfly.

MADDOX, Sharon Kay, 61, of Seffner, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died August 14, 2002, after a courageous, five-year battle with cancer. She is survived by Hardy B. Maddox, her devoted husband of 43 years; son, Brian Maddox; daughter-in-law, Mary Maddox; grandson, Alec Jay (`A.J.`) Maddox; and granddaughter, Ally Maddox. MCGLYNN, Joanne Marie, 55, of Riverview passed away at her home Thursday morning, August 15, 2002, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Joanne was known for extreme kindness, sparkle, wit and warmth. Those who knew her will take some portion of her into their lives. Joanne is survived by: husband, Lewis Blocker; mother, Dorothy; brother, Dennis and Carolyn; niece Kayla. She was an administrative assistant at Verizon and a loyal member of I.B.E.W. union local #824. Lewis wants Jo to know `I will surely miss my Jo forever, please rest in peace, be free as a bird. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2002 at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. OLSON, Barbara L., 43, of Odessa, died Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at her residence. She was born in Sheboygan, Wis. and moved to Odessa in 1997 from Prior Lake, Minn. Barbara was a computer analyst for Cytrol, Inc. in Edina, Minn. and is a member of In the Name of Jesus World Outreach Center, Odessa. Barbara loved to sing, especially hymns and songs of praise, saying that God was an awesome God. One of her favorite songs was `Joy to the World`. She sang solos and in church choirs for many years. Barbara is survived by her husband of 19 years, Dean; two sons, John and David of Odessa; her parents, Robert and Carol Dekker of Sheboygan, Wis.; sisters, Gail (Max) McNulty of Odessa, Jamie (Tony) Jackson of Sitka, Alaska and Laurel (Ocean) Dekker of Walnut Grove, Calif.; brother, Al Dekker of Sheboygan, Wis.; also her father-in-law, Bernard (Jean) Olson of Bonita Springs, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Don) Lisk of Kalispell, Mont., Julie (Jim) Rose of Middleton, Va. and Mary Jo Olson of Milwaukee, Wis.; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Patricia Olson. PELLEGRINO, Joseph A., 62, passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2002 in West Palm Beach. Joe was born in Ybor City Aug. 16, 1939 to Joseph Pellegrino and Jenice Pellegrino Orr. He is survived by his mother, Jenice Orr; and brothers, John Pellegrino and Jack Poole (Jeanette); children, Jenice Katrine Pellegrino and Joseph Pellegrino III, Hope, John, and Emily Pellegrino; and four grandchildren. Memorial services were held on Saturday in West Palm Beach.

PULEO, Theresa, 76, of Tampa, passed away on August 12, 2002. A resident of Tampa, she worked for the Veteran's Administration, Acacia Mutual Life Insurance and as the secretary to the principal of H.B. Plant High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Puleo. She is survived by her two sons, Frank Puleo Jr. of Sarasota, Fla. and Rick Puleo of Odessa, Fla. A private service was held Friday at the Adams & Jennings chapel in Tampa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to be made to LifePath Hospice.

REINTJES, Marilyn Joyce, 73, a resident of Dover, passed away August 13, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Carl E. Reintjes; one son, Ronald L. RUBIN, Robert M., Lt. Col. USAF, Ret., `Bob`, age 72, of Tampa, passed away, after a valiant one year battle with pancreatic cancer, on Friday, August 15, 2002. Mr. Rubin is survived by his loving and loved wife of 48 years, Glenna; his two devoted children, Mark and Pamela; and his granddaughter, Breanna, who was the apple of Papa's eye. Mr. Rubin was Professor Emeritus of St. Leo University retiring in 1997. He had a long and distinguished career in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1975 in the rank of Lt. Col. Burial will be graveside in Wayland, Mass. on Sunday, August 18, 2002. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2002 at Blount, Curry & Roel West Hillsborough Chapel. Please call funeral home for time of service. The family suggests that in Bob's memory don ations be made to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, Fla. whose staff of doctors and nurses kept him alive over a year. The family also appreciates the care given at the James A. Haley VA Hospital, Hospice section, Tampa and his last week, especially from Karen Travis, Nurse Practitioner.

SHARPE, Randall E., 61, of Trilby, died August 15, 2002. He is survived by his companion; Jill Smythe of Trilby; daughter, Rhonda Sharpe of Lutz; foster daughter, Freda Ann Holderman of Ky.; brother, Harvey Sharpe of Ft. Pierce; grand-children, Chase, Ashley, and Marissa; step-grandchildren, Austin and Madison; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis. SIMMONS, Mamie J. , died Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at Nature Coast Regional Hospital, Williston, Fla. She was 92. Mrs. Simmons was born in Reddick, Fla. and has been a long time resident of Williston, Fla. She retired after over 24 years of service from the Florida Correctional Institute, where she was known as `Sarge`. Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Paul D. Simmons. She is survived by three nieces, Wanda Mayton of Williston, Fla., Paula McGowan of Williston, Fla. and Barbara `Bobbi` Hunter of Morriston, Fla.; and several cousins in the Tampa area. VEGA, Henry, 97, of Strongsville, Ohio formerly of Tampa, passed away in Middlesburg Heights, Ohio on Sunday, August 11, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary D. Vega. Survivors include his companion, Elma Mitchell of Strongsville; daughter, Sandra J. Perez and her husband, Leonel; sister, America Diaz; granddaughter, Patricia Ann Diaz and her husband, Pedro, Sr.; and great-grandchildren, Pedro and Annamaria Diaz, all of Tampa. A native of Tampa, he was a cigar maker and retailer. He also was a former boxer and worked in construction. After retirement, he worked as a security agent at Tampa International Airport and as a carpenter for the Hillsborough County School Board. A Memorial Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment rites will take place at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at Centro Espanol Memorial Park. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

WIELAND, Leslie `Les`, 91, of Temple Terrace, died August 15, 2002. Survived by four sons; one daughter; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

YATES, James B. `Jim` of Land O' Lakes, Fla., passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; two daughters, Debra A. Zinzi, and Lisa A. Scott; three sons, Kenneth, Eddie and Tommy Yates; 12 grandchildren; and also great-grandchildren. Jim was born in Tampa, and worked as a police officer for over 20 years for the City of Tampa. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served with the US Marines. He is a member of the FOP. Services will be held on Monday, August 19 at 12:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
