MONFORTE, Anthony, 89, of Zephyrhills, died Thursday, August 22, 2002 in Zephyrhills. He is survived by one brother, John Monforte of New York; and several nieces and nephews. A native of New York, N.Y., he moved to Zephyrhills 22 years ago. He was a retired truck driver and had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Zephyrhills Moose Lodge, the Zephyrhills Elks Lodge and the V.F.W. Funeral services and burial will be held in Marlboro, New York.

ROBERTS, D.J., 13, of Lacoochee, Fla., passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2002 in Lacoochee. He is survived by his parents, Donald and Terry Roberts; one brother, Daniel E. Roberts; two sisters, Tasina J. Roberts and Tabitha Garcia; two grandmothers, Evelena Roberts and Beatrice Goodwin; aunts and uncles, Danny and Janice Roberts, Richard and Linda Griffis Richard, Barbara McClure, Johanna and Cash Fugate, Chester Goodwin, Winston and Melinda Boyd, Hank Goodwin, and Scott and Tina Hill; numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002 at the Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Lacoochee. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Hodges Family Funeral Home.

BARTON, Richard Lee, 80, passed away August 13, 2002 in Tampa. He was a World War II Navy Submarine Veteran, a Shriner, a 32nd Mason, and an Elk. He was preceded in death by his wife, June. He is survived by his four children, Dick, Jane, Bob and Jean; and five grandchildren.

BOSTER, Mrs. Belvia Bishop, age 90, passed away August 22, 2002. Funeral services will be held Monday August 26, 2002 at 2 p.m. at A.M. Seigler Funeral Home (Hwy. 60 E.) Visitation will be Monday August 26, from 1-2 p.m. Mrs. Boster was a Lunchroom Manager for Hillsborough County School Systems. She was lunchroom manager at Pinecrest and Horace Mann schools before retiring in 1969. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Plant City and a former Pink Lady at South Florida Hospital. She is survived by son, Thomas L. COOK, Silas Benjamin, Sr. 82, of Plant City passed away August 23, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Cook; two sons, Silas B. `Benny` Cook, Jr. and Tony Cook; one daughter, Louise Smith; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Cook was retired from Coronet Industries. He served in World War II in the 82nd Airborne division and was a member of Olin S. Wright Masonic Lodge #79. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 26, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. from Hopewell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Hopewell Memorial Gardens. DUFENY, Martha Richter, 90, formerly of Albany, N.Y., and a resident of Tampa since 1953, died August 22, 2002. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Max L. Dufeny, Sr.; and is survived by her son, Max L. Dufeny, Jr. of Tampa; her daughter, Mary Ellen Dufeny of North Fort Myers; daughter-in-law, Margaret Y. Dufeny of Tampa; two grandsons, Mark M. and Charles R. Dufeny, both of Tampa; and one brother, Fred Richter of Selkirk, New York. Mrs. Dufeny was a long time member of the Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Reconciler Class, a Sunday School teacher and Circle Leader. In 1966 she was nominated for the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Bureau of Community Coordinating Council for her work in Family Services. She was a co-founder, with her husband of AARP Chapter 3401. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church or to LifePath Hospice. There will be a memorial service on Monday, August 26, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Bayshore Presbyterian Church, 2515 Bayshore Blvd. Tampa.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Walter Dummeldinger of Land O'Lakes; her daughter, Faith Sincich of Lutz; her sons, David W. Dummeldinger of Hatboro, Pa. and Mark Dummeldinger of Tampa; and six grandchildren. Born in Fort Washington , Pa., she moved to Land O'Lakes in 1990. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, August 25 at 3:00 p.m. at her longtime church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lutz. GUTHRIE, Jessie C., 88, of Tampa passed away August 21, 2002. Survivors include his daughters, Edna Jones, Carmon Janan Schroeder and husband James, Carroll Francine Wright and husband Jerry, Sharon Hanna and husband Doug; his son, Gregory Guthrie and his wife Josephine; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Guthrie was born in Suwannee County, Fla. and had been a lifelong Tampa resident. The family will receive friends at the Garden Of Memories Chapel, 4207 E. Lake Ave., from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday morning with Pastor James Valentine of the First Baptist Church Of Harney, officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Grandsons of Mr. Guthrie will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Mark Cardozo and the staff at Palm Garden `A` Wing, for their kindness, compassion and care extended to our dad.

MALONE, Patrick Joseph, Jr., age 24, of Tampa, passed away August 21, 2002. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana , he moved to Tampa several months ago. P.J. was a graduate of Ole Miss University and had recently received his Masters in Ergonomics from Florida State University. He was a Cheerleader throughout his six years of college and a member of Phi Kappa Tau. He is survived by his parents, Patrick and Caryl Malone of Atlanta, Georgia; and his sister, Kelly Shea Barker of Tampa. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 24 11:30 a.m. at the chapel of Gonzalez Funeral Home. MATSURA, Setsuo `James`, 83, of Lutz, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2002. He was born in Seattle, Wash., and moved to the Tampa Bay area from West Bloomfield, Mich. in 1998. He served in the US Army in World War II. He was a retired Dentist from Southfield, Mich., and a member of Pebble Creek Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Judith; one son, Robert (Janet) Matsura of Troy, Mich.; one daughter, Tracy Dyer of Minneapolis, Minn.; one brother, Sam Matsura of Calif.; two grandsons, Greg and Matt Matsura of Mich. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Loyless Funeral Home Chapel. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; seven children; 17 grand-children; four great-grand-children; and a brother, Ronnie of Jacksonville. Graveside services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m. at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens.

PAIZ, Juana Marie (Hero/Prado), a lifelong Tampa native, born Juana Marie Hero in Tampa on July 29, 1928 passed into the Kingdom of God on August 21, 2002 to join her family members who preceded her in death. She was under the care of LifePath Hospice at her beloved home and under the loving hands of her family and friends who all cherished her. She was a loving and caring mother and fifth generation great-great-grandmother who's love, wisdom, and devotion to all will never again be equaled. In her youth Juana was a professional dancer who was well known for her unique style and grace by everyone in the entertainment field from Ybor City to Cuba. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Mitchell Perera; and is survived by her son, Luis Ramon Prado; daughter, Violet Rose Perera; granddaughter, Ana Moore; grandson, Otis Perera; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Officiating pallbearers are Luis R. Prado, Michael Perera, Otis Perera, Manuel Garcia, Ron Moore, and Mike Farewell. Graveside services will be held at the Garden of Memories Cemetery on Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 11 a.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her honor to LifePath Hospice, Pearl Team, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa, FL 33609, to help comfort others in need of their support.

RICKER, Louise Bowman, 81, of Tampa, passed away Friday, August 16, 2002. Mrs. Ricker was a former legal secretary and real estate secretary in Tampa, member and Past Matron of the Order Of The Eastern Star Palma Ceia Chapter #243, Elim Temple #76 Daughters Of The Nile, and a volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital. She is survived by two sons, Thomas A. Ricker and Sharon of Tampa and James H. Ricker and Janet of Plant City, Fla; and two cousins, Fred Rosenmiller of York, Penn. and Robert Bowman of Cape Coral, Fla. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Monday, August 26 at the Garden of Memories Chapel. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, from 10-12 Noon at the the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

ROURKE, Edward, 87, of Tampa, passed away August 22, 2002. Survivors include his children: Dorothy Roberts, Mary Stromsness and Charles Rourke; six grandchildren: Sherry, Chris, Anise, Shawna, Tonya and Jamie; a great-granddaughter, Amanda; and a sister, Jackie Stevens. Mr. Rourke was born in Charleston, S.C. and had resided in Tampa most of his life. He had attended the Old Fashion Baptist Church and was a Disabled American Veteran. The family will receive friends at the Garden Of Memories Chapel, 4207 E. Lake Ave., from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday evening followed by funeral services.

RUBIN, Robert M., Lt. Col. USAF, Ret., `Bob`, age 72, of Tampa, passed away, after a valiant one year battle with pancreatic cancer, on Thursday, August 15, 2002. Mr. Rubin is survived by his loving and loved wife of 48 years, Glenna; his two devoted children, Mark and Pamela; and his granddaughter, Breanna, who was the apple of Papa's eye. A Memorial Service will be held for family, friends and neighbors at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2002 at the Blount, Curry & Roel West Hillsborough Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Pancreatic Cancer Research, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612 in Bob's memory.

RYAN, Joseph G., 63, of Tampa, a native of New Orleans, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2002 at University Community Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Sandi; and children, Chris Ryan, Jason Ryan, Jana Patterson, Jim Ripoll and Joey Ripoll; and predeceased by his son, Charles Ryan. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; his sister, Lucille Ducarpe and husband, Duke of New Orleans, La. and their children, Terri DeSantis, Karen Preston and Ron Ducarpe Jr.; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; and his sidekick dog, Dusty. Joe was a devoted husband and father, Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, respected business owner and believed in a handshake to seal a deal. His word was his bond. The following was his philosophy of how everyone should live their lives.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, August 25, 2002 at 6:00 p.m. at the Carrollwood Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
