ST. CLAIRE, Barney C., 49, of Tampa, died July 29, 2002. Survived by parents, Mr. Dewy St. Clair and Mrs. Goldie Strickland.

TURNER, James C. `Jack` Sr.,age 76, of Plant City, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2002. Mr. Turner was a mechanical superintendent at the Plant City Courier for 30 years, and a veteran of World War II, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre in the Army. He was awarded a World War II Victory Medal. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Turner of Plant City; two sons, James Calvin Turner, Jr. of Lutz, Florida and H. David Turner of Plant City; one daughter, Phyllis Golden of Lakeland, Florida; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and services will be Saturday, 4:00 p.m. at Wells Memorial Chapel, with Dr. W. Diehl Turner officiating.

TWIFORD, Capt. Carl D., 83, of Ruskin, died at his residence on Aug. 19, 2002. A US Army veteran, Capt. Twiford served as a Paratrooper during World War II. He also served with the British Coldstream Guards and the U.S. OSS. He attained the rating of Sea Captain status from the U.S. Army, commanding mine layers and rescue ships during his military career. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary June; sons, Carl S. and Hylas H.; brothers, Edward, Richard, Donald and Floyd; and three grandchildren. Capt. Twiford was a member of the Ruskin Memorial Post 6287, VFW and attended the Ruskin United Methodist Church. A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday (Today) from 10 to 11 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev Paul McCauley officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ruskin United Methodist Church.

VANDERKAM, Leola R., 85, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 4, 2002. Lee was preceded in death by Ralph, her loving husband of 49 years. Lee and Ralph spent the winter months at BetMar, Zephyrhills, Florida and summers at Scram Lake, Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has resided for the past two years at Merrill Gardens in Lutz. Lee is locally survived by sons, John and R. Michael; daughter-in-law, Marilyn; and grand-daughters, Jill and Julie (husband, Jamie Vaccaro). A celebration honoring her life will be held next summer in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

WARREN, Emory, 76, of Tampa, died August 22, 2002 at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa. Born in Austell, Ga., he moved to Tampa in 1994 from Milwaukee, Wis.. Mr. Warren is survived by sons, Roger (Cecilia), Larry, and Kenneth Warren; daughter, Regina Miracola; brothers, J.T., Joe (Darthy), Millard (Pearl), and Mr. and Mrs. David Warren; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

KNUDSEN, Richard P. age 72, of Zephyrhills, passed away August 23, 2002 at East Pasco Medical Center. Mr. Knudsen was born in Staten Island, New York and moved to Zephyrhills in 1996 from Roscoe, New York. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the Marines. Mr. Knudsen was a member of the Zephyrhills Elks Lodge #2731, Moose Lodge #2276 of Zephyrhills, Order of Eagles #3752 of Zephyrhills, Laurel Wreath Masonic Lodge #149 F&AM of Laurel, Md., Life Member of American Legion #168 and a Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Knudsen of Zephyrhills; one son, Richard Knudsen Jr. and wife, Barbara of Kannapolis, North Carolina; one step-son, Norman F. May of Kannapolis, North Carolina; three daughters, Linda Zimecki and husband, Bob of Herndon, Virginia, Laura Sutton and husband, Steve of Land O'Lakes, Florida and Lorraine Harley of Springfield, Ohio; one brother, Kenneth Knudsen of Roscoe, New York; 12 grand-children; and two great-grand-children. Predeceased by his first wife, Helen. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, August 25 at Kelly Memorial Funeral Home, with an Elk's Service at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

ROBERTS, D.J., 13, of Lacoochee, Fla., passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2002 in Lacoochee. He is survived by his parents, Donald and Terry Roberts; one brother, Daniel E. Roberts; two sisters, Tasina J. Roberts and Tabitha Garcia; two grandmothers, Evelena Roberts and Beatrice Goodwin; aunts and uncles, Danny and Janice Roberts, Richard and Linda Griffis, Richard and Barbara McClure, Johanna and Cash Fugate, Chester Goodwin, Winston and Melinda Boyd, Hank Goodwin, Scott and Tina Hill; numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and friends. ZANDY, June M, 70, of Zephyrhills, died Saturday, August 24, 2002. She was born in Olean, N.Y. and moved here in 1987. She was a, member of the Lions Club, Zephyrhills. She retired after 39 years as a registered nurse, working for more than 20 years with Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, N.Y.; as well as an ICU nurse at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, Lackawanna, N.Y.; and locally with Zephyrhaven Nursing Home before retiring in 1991. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph. Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Zandy and grand-daughter, Mellisa Zandy of Zephyrhills; three sisters, Luella Baker and Florence Olmstead, both of New York and Nina Crainer of Washington ; and several nieces and nephews, including Judie Smith, Zephyrhills. ADAIR, Jerry Burl, 61, of Tampa, died August 21, 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Willie Adair; brother, Thomas J. Adair; and sister, Doris Adair. He is survived by his son, Mitch Adair of New York, N.Y.; brother and sister-in-law, Grady Robert and Lynn Adair of Madeira Beach, Fla.; sisters, Christine Lynn of Gastonia, N.C. and Geneva Hall of West Columbia, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. As a youth, Mr. Adair attended South Marietta Street Baptist Church. He was a choir member at Manhattan Methodist Church in Tampa and a former employee of Harris Teeter and Sears in Gastonia, N.C. He was also an employee of the State of Florida, Department of Worker's Compensation and had over 17 years of service. He was an active member of the Father's Club at Jesuit High School in Tampa. Visitation will be at Greene Funeral Service - West Chapel, Gastonia, N.C. on Monday, August 26, 2002 from 10-11 a.m. with Graveside services following at 11:30 a.m. at Hollywood Cemetery.

BEARD, Mary L., 55, of Hudson, Fla., formerly of Orlando, passed away August 23, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Tampa. Daughter of the late, Agustas M. and Mary Oden Payne, she was born August 24, 1946 in Ft. Payne, Alabama. Mrs. Beard was a Telemarketer and a 22 year area resident. Survivors include her husband, William J. Beard; a son, Marcus E. Beard of Tampa; a daughter, Shellie R. Beard of Spring Hill; four brothers, Roger Lee Payne of Haines City, Ronald Dale Payne of Longview, Calif., Robert Glenn Payne of Portage, Ind. and Oscar Payne of Oakland, Calif. Visitation will be held Monday August 26 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Church and Christian School, 9403 Scott St., Hudson, Fla., followed by a 7.00 p.m. service. A private interment will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens.

CHANEY, Rev. Philip, 77, of Tampa, died Friday morning, August 23, 2002. He is survived by a sister and half brother. A native of Tarkio, Mont., he moved to Tampa 30 years ago from Indianapolis. He was a non-denominational minister of the Gospel, having ministered for 30 years in jails in Florida. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Coleman & Ferguson Funeral Home in Dade City. Burial will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Friends may call one hour prior to service time.

DYAL, Loyd E., Sr., age 92, a resident of Ocala, Florida, died Wednesday, August 21, 2002 in Ocala. A native of Salem, Florida, Mr. Dyal had lived in Tampa most of his life. During his working career he held numerous state political appointments, and was a former business manager and member of IBEW local union #915, a member of Windhorst Masonic Lodge #185 and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a member of Emanuel Pentecostal Church of Ocala. He is survived by his wife, Virginia `Virgie` L. Hendry Dyal of Ocala; a son, Loyd E. Dyal, Jr. and wife, Doris, of Land O' Lakes; a daughter, Virgie Oliva of Cocoa Beach; a brother, Neil Dyal of Cross City; three sisters, Gracie, Inez, and Geneva; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services with Masonic Rites will be held a 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2002 at Sunset Memory Gardens, 11005 US Hwy 301 North, Thonotosassa, Florida, with Brother Henry McFarland Williams officiating. EICHELBERGER, Douglas T., Jr., 75, of Miami passed away August 11, 2002. He is survived by his sister, Rita Cranford, and his niece, Mary Ann Cranford, both of Tampa. Mr. Eichelberger resided in the Tampa area for 30 years before moving to Miami and was also of the Catholic Faith. Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 26, 2002, at 10 a.m. in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park. The family requests that flowers be omitted.

FANNIN, Juanita (Nita), 85, passed away Aug. 16, 2002. She was born in Jacksonville, Fla., attended Robert E. Lee High School and graduated from Virginia Intermont College. She attended Wesleyan College. She was a member of Southside United Methodist Church of Jacksonville. Mrs. Fannin was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Fannin, once Supervisor of Elections in Hillsborough County and owner of Ferrell Jewelry Companies in Tampa. Mrs. Fannin move to Tampa in 1940 and returned to Jacksonville in 1982, but continued to have many friends in Tampa. She was a long-time member and one-time secretary of Palma Ceia United Methodist Church. She was an avid golfer for many years at Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club and a contributor of voluntary services at Tampa General Hospital. Her family members all reside in Jacksonville. GRIFFIN, Woodrow L. `Griff`, 84, longtime resident of Tampa and owner of Tyresoles of Tampa, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2002. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ronelda; daughter, Lynora Griffin of Tampa, Fla.; son, David and his wife, Joyce Griffin of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Frances Marchman of Dothan, Ala.; three grandchildren, Desiree and her husband, Adam Bresovits of New Port Richey, Fla., David Griffin of New Port Richey, Fla. and Darren Griffin of Tampa, Fla. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins in Alabama. He was a member of the Thonotosassa Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. A Memorial service will be held Monday, August 26, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. at Thonotosassa Kingdom Hall.

HACKETT, Ginia Marie Hines, 29, of Plant City, passed away Friday, August 23, 2002. She is survived by her father, James Hines; mother, Wanda Ayscue; step-father, John Ayscue; a son, Dustin Sims; two brothers, Robert Moore and Jaime Hines; and sister, Roxanne Hines. Ginia was a lifelong resident of the area and a manager at the Fishhawk Beef O'Brady's. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in Hopewell Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Carl Hemphill officiating. Interment will follow in Hopewell Memorial Gardens. HUMBLES, Kenneth Howard, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2002. Kenneth Howard Humbles died at age 91 in Plant City, Fla. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Fayola Kathryn Landes Humbles; a daughter, Janet Carlton of Williamsburg, Va.; a son, Gail Humbles of Ventura, Calif.; a sister, Marquerite Setters of Illinois; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grand-children; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Garnet Humbles of Cicero, Ind.; two brothers, Harold and Gerald; and a sister, Junetta. During his life, he was a farmer, barber, factory worker, home and church builder and Minister in the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Laketon and South Bend, Ind. He lived in Indiana , Michigan and Florida. Funeral arrangements are pending. Arrangements entrusted to East Coast Cremation.

PRITCHARD, Wallace M., 78, of Tampa, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2002 at his daughter's home in Overland Park, Kansas. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 30, at Seminole Heights Methodist Church on Central Avenue. Mr. Pritchard was born June 17, 1924 at home in Tampa. He graduated from Hillsborough High School, and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He graduated from Capital Radio Engineering Institute in Washington , D.C. and started his career at WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia. As soon as it was possible, he moved home again to Tampa and worked for WXFL Television (WFLA) for nearly 30 years. He is survived by the love of his life, Marjorie Baughman Pritchard to whom he was married for 54 years. He is also survived by his three daughters, Cynthia Pritchard-Usrey of Raleigh, North Carolina, Cathy P. Burey of Overland Park, Kansas, and Amy P. Seaton of Brooksville, Florida; and six grandchildren, Greer, Blair and Jed Burey, and Jonathan, Christopher, and Amanda Seaton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to `Focus on the Family` Colorado Springs, CO 80995, or Metropolitan Ministries, 2002 N. Florida Ave., Tampa, FL 33602.

ROBERTS, Walford Junior, 82, of Tampa, passed away August 23, 2002 at John Knox Village, where he resided with his wife, Glenna. He is preceded in death by two adopted children. He was a World War II veteran in the US Coast Guard. A memorial service will be held Monday, 2:00 p.m. at John Knox Village, 4100 E. Fletcher Ave. Burial with military honors will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla. C.E. Prevatt Funeral Home/988-7371.

RUBIN, Robert M., Lt. Col. USAF, Ret., `Bob`, age 72, of Tampa, passed away, after a valiant one year battle with pancreatic cancer, on Thursday, August 15, 2002. Mr. Rubin is survived by his loving and loved wife of 48 years, Glenna; his two devoted children, Mark and Pamela; and his granddaughter, Breanna, who was the apple of Papa's eye. A Memorial Service will be held for family, friends and neighbors at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2002 at the Blount, Curry & Roel West Hillsborough Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Pancreatic Cancer Research, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612 in Bob's memory.
