KNIEP, Robert E., passed away August 30, 2002. Preceded in death by his grandson, Paul W. Kniep, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Felicia; his children, Diane and David Miller, Debbie and Robert Lowry, Robert and Cindy Kniep, Donna and Lyle Jenkins and Scotty and Jennifer Kniep; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m., Monday, September 2, 2002 at the funeral home chapel.

KONKOL, Thomas `T.K.`, 56, went to be with our Lord on August 29, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Janice; daughter, Rebecca Gaddis and husband, Bobby; daughter, Tina Perritt and husband, Scott; son, Mark Montero and wife, Vera; his grandchildren, Isaac, Ashley, Frank, Tyler, and Bobby Jr.; his mother, Evelyn Konkol; sisters, Margaret Swanson and Shirley Lacey; and brothers, Daniel, James, and Edward Konkol. He was a Crane Operator for Kelley Equipment Company, a member of the I.U.O.E. local 925, and a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was an avid racing fan and member of the #105 race team at EastBay Raceway. He was a loved and respected husband, father, and friend. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Temple T errace, September 3 from 7-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., September 4 at Oakly Funeral Home, 11441 Hwy 301 South, Dade City, FL 33525 with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens.

LaPLANTE, Kevin, age 12, passed away at Tampa Children's Hospital at St. Joseph's on August 28, 2002. He is survived by his parents, Chad and Hilda Horne; and his grand-parents, Adrian and Mary LaPlante, Jose Delgado, Francesca Valle, Tom Horne and Carol and Glen Warren. He was a student at Guardian Angel's Catholic School and attended Ozona Elementary. He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and was an artist at Wacky World Studios. He enjoyed soccer, baseball, fishing, snow skiing and traveling. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Palm Harbor. Entombment will follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Dream Fund of St. Petersburg or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Research Programs.

LLOYD, Billy `Bill` Ray, 65, of Dover, Fla. passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Becky; one daughter, Vickie and her husband, Kelly Carapella; two sons, Jeffery and Eric Lloyd; two step-sons, John and Troy Darr; mother, Lou Ellen Lloyd; two brothers, Earl and Clyde Lloyd; two sisters, Shirley Lounsbury and Joyce Holland; and nine grandchildren. A native of Iredell County, N.C., he moved to the area in 1960 coming from Statesville N.C. Billy was the owner of Lightning Bolt and Screw, Inc. A memorial service will be held at Stowers Brandon Chapel, Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at 4 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers donations to LifePath Hospice may be made in Billy's name.

LORINCZ, Helen Margaret, 78, of Clearwater, died Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor. Born in Hays, Kansas, Mrs. Lorincz was a retired production worker in the medical devices business. Surviving family includes her son, Edward Lorincz of Pinellas Park; sisters, Irene Younger of Hays, Kansas, Leona Miller of Denver, Colorado and Lillian Klaus of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Memorial Services will be conducted at the Chapel in the Pines, 4546 Kelly Road, Tampa, at a later date. The family prefers, if you wish, contributions to the Children's Home on Memorial Highway in Tampa. Funeral arrangements by CURLEW HILLS FUNERAL HOME, Palm Harbor, 727-789-2000.

LYNN, Henry Carl Jr., 78 died Thursday, August 29, 2002 at home. He is survived by his sisters, Dorothea Deal and Cydelle Winstead. He was born in Jacksonville, Fla., and moved to Tampa in 1940. He was an Optician and owned H.C. Lynn Optical Co. He was a member of the Elks, Fellowship Lodge 265 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, Zendah Grotto, and Egypt Temple. McCORMACK, Thomas F. `Tom,` 86, of Largo, died August 29, 2002. He is survived by sons, Tom Jr., Kevin B. and Noel A.; daughter, Lorraine E.; and four grandchildren.

MEJIAS, Louise Mary Hernandez, age 72, of Melbourne, Fla., passed away August 29, 2002. A native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Mrs. Mejias resided in Melbourne, Florida the last eight years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio Jesus and Rosalina Hernandez; grandsons, Marco Thomas Lemus and George Moscayza and great-grand-daughter, Alyssa Paige Lunsford. Survivors include her daughters, Nannette Gonzalez and husband, Toby, Isabel Melley and husband, Michael, Janet Arista and Rose Marie Berrios and husband, Norberto; sons, Thomas Valdez and wife, Joni and Robert Valdez; brother, Tony Hernandez and wife, Voncille; nephew, Michael Hernandez; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock from the chapel of Gonzalez Fun eral Home, with interment to follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family will be appreciated. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. with the recitation of the Catholic Wake Rite to begin at 6:15 p.m. at the chapel of GONZALEZ FUNERAL HOME

MORAN, Fr. Leonard J., S.M., 84, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away August 27, 2002 in Sun City Center, Fla. Survivors include his sisters Patricia Baines of Longwood, Fla. and Ellen Burke of Kernersville, N.C.; and members of the Marist community of the Atlanta Province. In lieu of flowers memorials in his memory may be sent to the Marist Missions c/o Marist Center, 4408 8th St. N.E., Washington , DC 20017. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at a later date in Westview Cemetery.

MUELLER, Francis J., 81, of Tampa, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; sons, Francis J. `Bud` Mueller Jr. of Lutz and John M. Mueller of Tampa; daughter, Susan M. Mortenson of San Francisco, Calif.; a brother, J. Gordon Mueller of Baltimore, Md.; and three grandchildren. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, and a World War II Navy Veteran where he received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church and interment will follow at Bay Pines National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to LifePath Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association. SMITH, David Earl Jr., a faithful servant of our Lord, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002 at the age of 76. A native of Tampa, Fla., he had resided for the past two years in Ft. Gaines, Ga. He was a Lay Speaker for campground ministries and also prison ministries for many years. He was a Southpaw Pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds Farm League, then enlisted in the Navy during World War II as a Corpsman. Afterwards, he returned to Tampa and then to Valrico, Fla. He raised horses and calf roped throughout Central Fla. in rodeos. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He co-founded then Crofton and Smith which manufactured Uncle Johns Pride Sausages and a meat wholesaler. After retirement he moved to Ft. Gaines and was a member of Ft. Gaines Bapti st Church. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Crosson Smith; one son, Grant Smith of Seffner, Fla.; three daughters, Laura Mathis of Riverview, Fla., Kathy Frank and Ellen Demers, both of Tampa, Fla.; one step-son, Marty Martin of Brandon, Fla.; one step-daughter, Melissa Thompson of Morrison, Tenn.; one sister, Mary Crosby of Orlando, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter, Victori a Leasure. He was loved by all and will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial will be conducted in Ft. Gaines, Ga. and a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sep. 3, 2002 at New Hope Cemetery in Brandon, Fla. with the Rev. Jeff Hines officiating.

TAYLOR, James C., 47, of Ruskin, passed away August 29, 2002 in Lakeland. A native of Butler, Ga., Mr. Taylor had moved to the area 19 years ago from Georgia. He was an equipment operator for IMC/Agrico at the New Wales Plant in Mulberry. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a lay member of the Institute of Charity. He was involved in many charity works over the years, and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife, Daria; three daughters, Veronica of Ruskin, Melissa of Brandon and Stephanie of Riverview; a brother, William `Bill` Lee Taylor, Jr. of Asher, Okla.; three sisters, Linda Cromer of Butler, Ga., Pearl McInvale of Woodbury, Ga., and Peggy Ann Bacle of Butler, Ga.; a granddaughter, Hanna Marie Nelson; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Lewers Funeral Home this evening from 6-8 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Ruskin.

Born on July 27, 2002 in Ormond Beach, Fla., Rachel is survived by her parents, Edwin and Heather Velazquez of Orlando, Fla.; brother, Samuel Santos Velazquez; maternal grand-parents, Muriel and Irving Hoffman of Palm Coast, Fla.; paternal grandfather, Felipe Velazquez, Sr. of Ponce, Puerto Rico; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

WILLIAMS, Sophie D., 91, of Dade City, formerly of Wauchula, passed away Friday, August 30, 2002 in Zephyrhills, Fla. She is survived by her loving family. She and her husband owned and operated Johnnie's Steak House in Wauchula. She had attended the New Hope Baptist Church in Wauchula. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at the Wauchula Cemetery.
