FARMER, Lucila C., 100 years old, of Wesley Chapel, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2002 at Zephyr Haven Nursing Home in Zephyrhills. She is survived by a cousin in New York; long time caregivers, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Pierce of Wesley Chapel; and friends.

GAUSE, Joseph, `David`, 76, of Elfers, died August 31, 2002. Survived by wife, Betty; sons, Joseph, Gary and Marshall; daughter, Joan Barlow; and 14 grandchildren.

LYKINS, Shirley M., 65, of Dade City and formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2002 in Dade City. Shirley was a former Nurses Aid and a barmaid and was a member of the F.O.E. in Montpelier, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; mother and father; one sister; one brother; one great-grandchild, Kyle; and one step-daughter, Robin. Shirley is survived by her children, Charmaine Newman of Toledo, Carlton (Toni) VanPelt of Fla.; Edie (Michael) Raabe of Pioneer, Ohio, Daryl (Angie) Lykins of Toledo, Vickie (Bob) Harkless of Toledo, Kimberly (Dan) Eckhart of Perrysburg, Ohio, Gerald (Donna) Lykins of Texas and Charles Lykins III of Texas ; 28 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard (Helen) Huffman and Jake Huffman, both of Florida. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. in the H.H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, Trilby Chapel, 3219 Tremainsville, Toledo, OH 43613, where the services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Whiteford Union Cemetery. In consideration any contributions may be sent to the Northwest Ohio Hospice in Perrysburg, Ohio.

COPELAND, Margaret Jean, 78, of Tampa, passed away August 30, 2002. She is survived by four sons, Bill Boyd of Tampa, Buddy Copeland of Plant City, Charles Copeland and Wayne Copeland, both of Tampa; two daughters, Margaret Copeland of Kalamazoo, Mich. and Donna Copeland of Tampa; two sisters, Virginia Ayers of Tampa and Ann Keenan of Houston, Texas ; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

GLICKMAN, Lawrie B., 70, resident of Tampa since 1957, native of Chicago, passed away August 24, 2002. His memory lives on with his children, Ron, Nancy and Susan Glickman; his grandchildren, Michelle and Sam Glickman; his sisters, Jean Oringer and Diana Golden; and in the hearts of his extended family and friends. Dr. Glickman served our country as a Captain in the US Army. He was a well-respected dentist for 42 years with many patients who truly miss his kind and gentle manner. A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4 from 6-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

SHIRBACH, Lelah J. Macauley, 70, of Tampa, passed away August 30, 2002 in Tampa. Survivors include her husband, James Shirbach; sons, Richard Furness and wife, Veleda and James Furness and wife, Bobbie Jean; daughters, Elizabeth Berden and Lucie Caruthers and husband, Robert; step-daughters, Holly Zullo and husband, Chris and Carrie Free and husband, Doug; step-son: Peter Shirbach; sister, Edith Pilon and husband, Arthur; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa, FL 33609 in her memory. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002

BENNETT, Lloyd A., 70, passed away August 27, 2002, at East Pasco Medical Center, Zephyrhills, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; two sons, Arthur L. Bennett of Portsmouth, N.H., and Jeffrey M. Bennett of Lewiston, Maine; two daughters, Martha S. Labbe of Sanford, Maine, and Gloria Sirois of Auburn, Maine; three brothers, Everette H. Bennett of Fallon, Nev., Donald Bennett of Salem, Mass., and Raymond Bennett of Lewiston; three sisters. Barbara Belanger of Sanford, Joan Heckenlaible of St. Mary's, Ga., and Constance Moad of Lisbon, Maine; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren Mr. Bennett was born in Sanford and moved to Zephyrhills in 1992. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a life member of American Legion Post #19, Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #19, American Vet's Post #3. VFW Post #33935, all of Sanford. Mr. Bennett was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Zephyrhills. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today (Thursday) at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, with the Dade City VFW presiding.

SPAINHOUR, Agnes Elizabeth, 83, formerly of Dade City, died Monday evening, September 2, 2002 in King, N.C. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara A. Spainhour of King, N.C., Judy L. Bodenhamer of Kennesaw, Ga., and Catherine E. Anderson of Pfafftown, N.C.; son, Randy D. Spainhour of Dade City; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A native of Pinnacle, N.C., she had been a resident of Dade City for 43 years before returning to North Carolina two years ago. She had worked for the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Dade City for seven years and then retired from the University Community Hospital in Tampa after working there for 23 years as a surgical technician. She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Dade City. Friends and family are requested to meet at 3 p.m. on Friday at Chapel Hill Gardens where a graveside service will be held.

STERLING, Gordon M., 76, passed away Sept. 2, 2002, in Zephyrhills. He is survived by loving family. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church of North Lakeland.

AGOSTO Baquero, Hector, age 78, of Tampa, passed away August 31, 2002. A native of Canovanas, Puerto Rico and resident of Tampa for the past 13 years, Mr. Agosto was a member and served as Church Deacon and Treasurer of Palm Ave. Baptist Church Mision Hispana. His memory lives on with his loving wife, Gladys; son, Hector Agosto, Jr.; daughter, Maria Agosto; grandchildren, Erica Gannon and Matthew Agosto and in the hearts of his extended family and loving friends. Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Friday afternoon at three o'clock at Sunset Memory Gardens.

AMADEN, Karolena (Kay) Nix, 85, passed away September 2, 2002 at Lakeshore Villas Nursing Home. She was born in Alabama, but was a longtime resident of Temple Terrace. Kay was devoted to her family and enjoyed reading and volunteering at the V.A. Hospital library. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles; by three sons, Don, Dean and Bob; by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff of Lakeshore Villas for the seven years of excellent care Kay received while there. There will be no public funeral service. For those who wish, the family suggests a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association. Neptune Society of Palm Harbor.

BARRETT, Arline E. 83 of Sun City Center died Sept. 2, 2002. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Bill Welbourne; son-in-law, Doug Carlson; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

BARROW, Lois, 69 of Wesley Chapel passed away September 3, 2002. She has gone to meet her husband of 50 years, John C. Barrow, Sr. Survivors include her children, John C. Barrow, Jr., Richard Barrow, Lois Paulette Moore and David Barrow. She loved her family very much. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 6, 2002 at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

BENSON, Richard E., passed away August 15, 2002 in Sacramento, California. Husband of 26 years of Kathleen L. Benson; son of the late Lillian and Francis Benson; father of Richard P. Benson, Robin Wrublewski, and Christine Forward; step-father of Charles M. Welsh, Jr. and Mark Welsh; and brother of Robert Benson. Also survived by three grandchildren; and one step-daughter. A native of Norristown, Pa. and former resident of Tampa, Fla., He was 66 years of age. For 30 years Dick served in senior level management positions in the temporary medical staffing industry with companies including Kelly Services, Adia Services, and Star-Med Staffing. Dick then started his own business, `Computer Solutions` in 1998. He was an avid golfer who loved dogs and computers. Interment will be at St. Jean the Baptiste in Bellingham, Mass. BROWN, Marilyn F., 68, of Seffner, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2002 after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leora and Wallace P. Mann and her brother, James Mann. Survivors include her five children, Kathryn J. Harkleroad, Ft. Meade, Maryland, Kenneth R. Brown, Clearwater, Karen S. Sherman, Longmont, Colo., Kathleen M. McCallister, Brandon and Kimberly F. Taylor, Danville, N.H. She had seven grandchildren, Jessica Yancey, Blairsville, Ga., Kevin and Christopher Brown, Alabama, Adam Sherman, Tallahasse, Fla., Alex and Amanda Sherman, Longmont, Colo. and Lee McCallister, Brandon, Fla. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska where she graduated from the Nebraska Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. She volunteered for the Family Services organization, in addition to being a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eastern Star. Her nursing career in Tampa included positions in various local hospitals. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all. A private memorial service will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to LifePath Hospice.

CANADY, Nell Robey Webb, 84, a native and lifelong resident of Tampa, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at home. Survivors include her son, Wayne of Tampa; a daughter Joan Whitaker of Floral City, FL and grandsons Sean and his wife Eileen and Ryan Canady. Mrs. Canady taught at St. John's Episcopal Church School for 20 years. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Tampa.

CASTELAN, Christina, 44, of Wimauma, Fla., died September 1, 2002. She was a department manager for Walmart in Sun City Center and attended St. Ann Catholic Church in Ruskin, Fla. Survivors include her husband, Epifano Mendez; three daughters, Angie Lee Nordby, Jane Marie Castelan, and Virginia Lynn Mora; four sisters, Olga, Elvira, Virginia, and Theresa; five brothers, Adam, Benny, Henry, Manuel and Johny Caseres; and a grandson, Hugo Alberto Mora, Jr. Mass of the Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2002, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 106 11th Avenue N.E., Ruskin, Fla. ECHELBERGER, Iris V. `Vi`, 71, of Tampa, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2002. She was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico and moved to Tampa in 1989. She was a retired Registered Dietitian and an active member of the Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church. Following graduation from Siena Heights University (Adrian, Michigan) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics, and the University of Michigan with a Master of Public Health degree, she worked as a Registered Dietitian for over 40 years; pioneering the development of Professional Dietary Consulting in Indiana in the 1960's and 1970's; Director of the Indiana Nutrition Education and Training Program; practicing as a Licensed Dietitian in Indiana , Texas and Florida. She was a past Treasurer of the University of South Florida Women's Club, Elder in the Presbyterian Church and honored as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary International Foundation. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Wayne of Tampa; son, Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Bonnie of Louisville, Kentucky; son, Michael and daughter-in-law Penny of Plano, Texas ; grandchildren, Andrew, Mitchell, Ashley, Austin and Braden; brother and sisters, Hector, Maria S., C armen, Nilsa, Nestor, Victor, and Maria A., all of Puerto Rico. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church, 420 Bullard Parkway, Temple Terrace, Florida 33617, with final interment in Puerto Rico at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Temple Terrace Presbyterian Weekday School Scholarship Fund.

EDWARDS, Ethel Z., 87, of Tampa, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002. She was a native of Tampa and lived here a lifetime, and was a member of North Rome Baptist Church. She is survived by a brother, Walker Zaborowski of Graniteville, S.C.; two sisters, Helen Lynn of Tampa, and Ruth Durden of Spanish Fort, Ala.; step-son, Richard Charles Edwards of Lutz; step-daughter, Alice Kushner of Miami, Fla.; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. at the Glass Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Randy Peterson of North Rome Baptist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday morning from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
