FERNANDEZ, Antonio, 77, of Tampa, died Oct. 1, 2002. Survived by son, Antonio; sister, Conception Iglesias; mother, Maria Fernandez; and two grandchildren.

FRIER, Margie, 76, of Plant City, entered into rest on October 1, 2002. She moved to this area in 1946, from Alabama. She was a Baptist, a loving wife, mother and friend. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Robert Frier; daughters, Debbie Frier and Donna Sue Rivera; brothers, O.C. and Waylon Carlisle; sisters, Mary Etta Moore, Glenda Roundtree, and Sharon Tony; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday October 4, at 2 p.m., at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home.

GARFI, Salvator J., 79, of Clearwater, died Oct. 2, 2002. He was a veteran of the Armed Forces. He is survived by his daughter, Jo Anna Garfi of Bayport, New York.

GIORGIANNI, Mary Biondolillo, 94, of Tampa, died Mon., Oct. 1, 2002. Survived by a loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

GONZALEZ, Carmelina R., age 85, of Tampa, passed away October 3, 2002. A native and lifelong resident of Tampa Mrs. Gonzalez is survived by her daughters, Diana S. Vazquez, Denise Gonzalez, Cynthia Hunter and Sandra Bigger; son, Jack Gonzalez; sister, Ofelia Garcia; brother, Manuel Suero; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at Woodlawn Cemetery. Everyone is to meet at the graveside for the services.

LEVERETT, James M., 62, of Riverview, Fla., died Oct. 1, 2002 at his residence. He retired from the US Army after serving in the Viet Nam War. Survivors include two daughters, Scarlett Adams and Tracy Leverett; five brothers, Jack, Robert, David, West and Elmer; six sisters, Shirley Elliot, Rosealee Hamilton, Sheila Davis, Ashley Rust, Bernice Matassinni and Debra Evans; and three grandchildren, Amber Adams, Chazz Adams and Julia Leverett. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Monday, October 7, 2002 at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, Fla. with Pastor West Everett officiating. Interment with military Honors will be at Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. MARTINEZ, Maria T., age 79, of Tampa, passed away October 2, 2002. A native of Salinas, Puerto Rico and resident of Tampa for the past 16 years, Mrs. Martinez is survived by her children, Eileen, Rafael, Luis Martinez, Marjorie Colon, Natalie Gonzalez and Eric Martinez; brother, Joe Beabraut; sisters, Alicia Martinez and Amparo Rivera; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

ROBBINS, Jeffrey William, 39, of Tampa, died Sept. 26, 2002. Survived by mother and step-father; one sister; one brother; and four step-brothers. Shirley Brothers Mortuaries, Indiana .

ROSS, Dennis, 58, of Englewood, Fla., (Sarasota County) died Oct. 2, 2002 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 14, 1944 in Tampa, and came to the Englewood area 35 years ago from Tampa. He owned and operated Ross T.V, which was formerly Lemon Bay T.V. in Englewood. He was a member of the Jaycees, Elks Lodge #2378 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1933 all of Englewood. He was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Englewood and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his son, Richie of Englewood; daughter, Kellie Ward of Boone, N.C.; four brothers, Joey of Tampa, Joseph of Hanover, Md., Ronny of Millersville, Md. and Robert of Crownsville, Md.; one granddaughter, Giana Felice Ward; mother, Frances Ross of Hanover, Md. and a loving companion, Janice Huffman of Englewood. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2002 from 2-5 p.m. at the Lemon Bay Funeral Homes in Englewood. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 7, 2002 at 10 a.m. at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Englewood. Burial will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood. Lemon Bay Funeral Homes, Englewood Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Dennis to Richie Ross 22 Caroll Circle, Englewood, FL 34223.

SAGE, Ernestine G., 86, of Ruskin, died Sept. 30, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Morrill; brother, Sam Gore; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, 6-8 p.m. at Zipperer's Chapel. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, 11 a.m. at Ruskin Memorial Park.

SPANGLER, Margaret Olive, 85, a life-long resident of Tampa, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Wesley Spangler. She is survived by three sons, Clifford Wesley, Paul Kenneth and James Marion Spangler; one daughter, Claudia Margaret Spangler-Fry; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Before her retirement, she worked for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office as a Civil Deputy for 45 years and was minister of the Apostolic Sanctuary for over 20 years. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

STEPHAN, Tecla B., 92, of Sun City Center died October 1, 2002. Wife of the late Dr. Sal G. Stephan formerly from Cincinnati, Ohio. She leaves three sisters, Margarite Spieker, Ruth Berling and Thelma (Mickey) Johnson. She was connected with the Cincinnati Zoo for many years as was her husband who was their veterinarian at one time. She was loved by all who knew her. Donations may be made in her name to Hospice House, 1647 Sun City Center Plaza # 104 Sun City Center, FL 33573.

THORNTON, Ronald Lee, longtime Tampa resident, passed away on Oct. 2, 2002 at his home. Survivors include his wife, Jan Taylor Thornton; sons, Scott Taylor Thornton and wife, Cindy, Todd Stuart Thornton and Robb Lee Thornton; his mother, Fannie Thornton Branham; a granddaughter, Ashlyn Harris Thornton; mother-in-law, Jennie Taylor; brother-in-law, Jack Taylor; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Mr. Thornton was a devoted husband, father and avid sportsman who lived life to its fullest. Born in Waycross, Georgia, he moved to Tampa at an early age. Ron was an insurance executive in Tampa for over 30 years. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Tampa. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Blount, Curry & Roel Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave. Rev. Fitz Conner, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers those who do desire may make a contribution to the First Presbyterian Church Restoration Fund, 412 Zack St., Tampa, FL 33602.

TILLMAN, Robert Simuel, age 83, of Tampa, died October 1, 2002. He is survived by sisters, Grace and Annie; and other relatives and friends.

VANDENBERGHE, George G., 84, passed away in Tampa on Wednesday, October 2, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth; four children: daughter, Joanne M. NeSmith of Mango; son, Dr. James G. Vandenberghe of Odessa; son, Edward L. Vandenberghe of Tampa; and son, G. Martin Vandenberghe of New Port Richey; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Julian J. Vandenberghe of Tampa. Born in Kansas City, Mo. to immigrant parents from Belgium, he and his family moved to the Tampa area in 1928. He was the owner of George Vandenberg Construction. He founded Vandenberg Airport which opened in 1954. He was a long time member of the First Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Tampa. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 7, 2002, 2:00 p.m., at the Garden of Memories Chapel, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, with interment to follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

VINES, Gerald `Pete` C., 77, of Tampa, departed this life on October 3, 2002 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Montgomery, Ala., April 16, 1925, he attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and played trumpet in the `Million Dollar` band. A reverent Christian and devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy; a daughter, Gail Sawyer and her husband Hugh of Atlanta, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Margaret and Trent Sawyer. He spent his career in the petroleum industry, mainly with Sinclair Refining Co., and its successor, British Petroleum, and retired from Cato Oil Co., in 1988. He was a Mason, member of Egypt Temple Shrine and its Active Patrol and of the Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, and an avid golfer. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Wesley Memorial Church, 6100 Memorial Highway. His family suggests donations may be made to Wesley Memorial Church or to a charity of one's choice.

WEDDELL, Mark Byron, 46, passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2002 in Tennessee. He's survived by his life partner, Sling Pitts; and his sisters, Anita Clapper, Sheryl Davie, and Nancy Schimpf. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 5, at 3 p.m. at King of Peace MCC, 3150 5th Avenue N., St. Petersburg.

BRADBURY, Christopher, Mikal, son of Juliane Bradbury of Port Richey died Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at All Children's Hospital, St. Petersburg. He is also survived by maternal grandmother, Irene Bradbury, Port Richey; uncles, Jared L., Port Richey and Jason D., Albuquerque, N.M.

GRUOSSO, Rose, 94, of New Port Richey, passed away October 3, 2002 at Southern Pines Nursing Center in New Port Richey. Born October 9, 1907, she came here 17 years ago from her native New York City. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in NEw Port Richey and was an executive secretary for an import exporter. Survivors include four brothers, John Fiore of New Port Richey, Wallace Fiore of Seattle, Wash., George Fiore of Albany, N.Y., and Henry Fiore of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Viola Campanella and Helen Hennessey, both of New Port Richey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace. HARK, Phillip J., 60, of New Port Richey passed away October 1, 2002 at Bay Tree Rehab & Nursing Center in Palm Harbor. Born June 8, 1942, he came here 33 years ago from his native Cleveland, Ohio. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. Survivors include two brothers, Raymond of Mentor, Ohio, and William of Crystal Rivers, Fla. No services are planned at this time.

MacDONALD, Brenton `Brent` C., 89, of Zephyrhills passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002 at the Hernando/Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City after a lengthy illness. A native of Milford, N.H. he had came to this area some 20 years from Milford. He was a retired plumber, a past member of the First United Methodist Church in Zephyrhills, a member of Masonic Lodge #7 in Milford and Lodge #198 in Zephyrhills, Elks Lodge # 2731, I.O.O.F. Lodge #42 and Rebekah Lodge #23 both in Milford, and Grand Order of the Sword of Bunker Hill Gaspee Order #99 in Providence, R.I. Brent is survived by his wife, Beatrice; two sons, Gary of Florida, and Don in New Hampshire; three brothers, Bill of Ft. Myers, Norman of New Hampshire, and Winston of Palm Beach, Fla.; four step-children , Betty Ruoff of Syracuse, N.Y., Ruth Odiorne of El Paso, Texas , Patricia Zamudio of Tucson, Ariz., and Eddie Wormuth of Capitola, Calif.; as well as many grandchildren. There are no services scheduled at this time. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Oakside Cemetery in Zephyrhills.
