SHELL, Joann Hixon, 68, passed away October 10, 2002, after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband, Henry; sons, Richard G. Mills, Jr.; grandchildren, Emily and Natalie; and sister, Elaine H. Johnson. She was born in Tampa, the daughter of Lila and Curtis Hixon. She graduated from Plant High with the class of 1951. She attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Virginia. She pledged to the Kappa Delta sorority and graduated from Florida State University. She was a first grade teacher; travel agent; and a loving wife and mother. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, 3901 San Jose St., Tampa, FL 33629. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund of the Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church.

SHEPHERD, Thelma `Tonye`, 88, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2002. She was predeceased by one son, Jerald Shepherd. Survivors include three sons, David Andrew, Larry D., and Jimmy Shepherd; two daughters, Melanie Baugh, Dana Reed; two sisters, Mary Munger, Elizabeth Russell; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was a resident of the Tampa Bay Area since 1989 coming from Louisville, Ky.; a Methodist by faith; and a member of the Brandon League of Fine Arts. A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, 7 p m. at the Stowers Brandon Chapel. Family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Flowers are being accepted or those who wish to make donations in her memory to Brandon League of Fine Arts may do so at P.O. She was born in New York City, New York and moved to New Port Richey from Elmont, Long Island, N.Y. in 1974. She was a homemaker and member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hudson; Women of the Moose, Leisure Beach. Survivors; son, Louis `Chubby` Chianella III of Hudson, Fla.; daughter, Cookie Stobierski of East Northport, N.Y.; sister, Bella Monaco of Staten Island, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral mass Monday, October 14, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.

DILLON, Roxy Bird, 91, of New Port Richey, died Oct. 9, 2002 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center, New Port Richey. Born in Farmington, W. Va., she came here 26 years ago from Fairmont, W. Va. She was the Dean of Women at Fairmont State College. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, New Port Richey; American Association of University Women; League of Women Voters; Founder of Meals on Wheels in Fairmont, W.Va.; and a member of Alpha XI Delta Sorority, Morgantown, W. Va. She is survived by her son, David C. Dillon of San Jose, Calif.; and a sister, Fairy Alice Downs of Farmington, W. VA. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, at 2:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 5901 Indiana Ave., New Port Richey.

FRYE, Phyllis Ann, 47, of Dade City, died Friday evening, October 11, 2002 in Tampa. She is survived by her husband, Gary Frye; two daughters, Misty Loftis and Michelle Aguilar, both of Zephyrhills; one brother; Larry Whitley of Auburndale, Fla.; one sister, Linda Middleton of West Palm Beach, Fla.; her mother, Mary Evans of Croom-A-Coochee, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Taylor, Cody and Lilly. A native of Winter Haven, she had been a resident of Dade City for the past 32 years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Coleman & Ferguson Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen J. Walding, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Dade City Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.

He was founder and CEO of Adams Air & Hydraulics, Inc.; Chairman of the Board of the local Colonial Bank; a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Brandon; a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran, where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross; had attended N.C. State University and was an active member of the Wolfpack Club. He is survived by his wife, Dotty; Son, John D. Adams, Jr., his wife, Donna of Temple Terrace and their children, John D., III and Kayla; daughters, Judi Coleman, her husband, Perry of W. Melbourne, Fla. and their children, J.P., Kristin and Rebecca; Jane Thompson, her husband, Reece of Brandon and their children, Brittani and Reece, III; Jackie Buckler of Tampa and her children, Abby and Luke; Mother, Kate Adams, Plymouth, N.C.; 2 brothers and sisters, William C. Kennedy and wife Patricia, Kansas City, Mo., John Kennedy and wife Sue, Saginaw, Mich., Jerry R. Kennedy, Bay City, Mich., James R. Kennedy, Las Vegas Nev., and Ron R. Kennedy and wife Jean, Dade City; sisters, Carol Fortier, and husband Larry of Saginaw, Mich., Leora Kolka and husband Larry, Saginaw, Mich., Mary G. Frost, Dade City, Fla., and Sharon K. Johnson and husband Tom, Houghton Lake, Mich.; also several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Tuesday October 15, 2002 from 1:00 till 4:00 and 6:00 till 8:00 p.m., with a Liturgy Service at 7:00 p.m. at Haught Funeral Home. He was Episcopalian by faith and a member of Saint Matthew's Masonic Lodge AF and AM in Andover, Mass. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, 6 p.m. at the Stowers Brandon Chapel. Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. from Hopewell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William G. Sands officiating. CARLISLE, David `Mitch`, age 48 of Plant City, Florida, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2002. Mr. Carlisle moved here from Watervliet, Michigan in 1955. He is predeceased by his mother, Janet Wilson Carlisle; and his brother, Dennis Wayne Carlisle. Survivors include his sons, Dennis M. Carlisle and David A. Carlisle, both of Plant City; father and stepmother, Hillard T. and Maggie Carlisle of Plant City; two sisters, Donna Lewis of Plant City and Melanie Spurgeon of Brandon; and one granddaughter, Grace Madison Carlisle of Plant City. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 13, 2002 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be on Monday, 2:00 p.m. at Wells Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Al Livingston officiating. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association.

COBOS, Alberto A., 72, of Tampa, passed away October 12, 2002. Survivors include his longtime companion, Josephine; two brothers, Gustavo of Miami and Humberto of Tampa; a sister, Zenaida Pumariega of Tampa; two nieces; six nephews; nine great-nieces; and five great-nephews. Mr. Cobos was born in Cuba and had resided in Tampa for the past 37 years. At his request, funeral services will be private.

CRONIN, Loraine Carol, age 80, was called home on Friday, October 11, 2002 at University Community Hospital in Tampa, FL. Survivors include her loving daughter, Lorie L. Loy and her husband, Sam of Tampa, Fla.; and her brother, Byron Lawrence of Otho, Iowa. Loraine was a graduate of Iowa State University where she had majored in Economics. She worked for many years as a Medical Technologist. She was an active member of the Lake Carroll Baptist Church. She loved to play her favorite hymns on the piano for her favorite past-time. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens in Thonotosassa on Tuesday, October 15 at 11 a.m.

DIAZ, Robert D. `Dago`, age 85, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2002. Mr. Diaz was a native of Tampa. He served his country in the US Army during World War II. He was a boxer during the 1940's locally and in the Southern States. He was a bartender and worked in local Night Clubs for over 40 years. After his retirement, at age 65, he worked for the Hillsborough County School System for over 13 years. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, C. Constance `Connie` Diaz. He is survived by his sons; Robert M. Diaz and wife Daphne and Joseph M. Diaz; daughters, Jeanette D. Garcia and Constance Traina Faedo; grandchildren, Bobby, Kimberly and Michael Diaz, Armando V. Garcia, Jr., Jennifer L. Echeverry and husband Diego, Vincent M. Traina and wife Lisa, Laurie M. Edmonds and husband Todd, Lindsay N. Traina; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Gabrielle Traina, Eric and Jacob Echeverry, Miranda and Cole Edmonds; and many loving nephews and nieces. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 16th from the Blount Curry & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Ave., 3:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Pall Bearers include; Robert, Joseph and J ohn Diaz, Armando Garcia, Vincent Traina and Diego Echeverry. Honorary Pall Bearers include; Bobby, Michael and Louis Diaz. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with recitation of the Catholic Wake Rite Service at 7:00 p.m.

She was a lifelong resident of Tampa and a member of the Sons of Italy. Nancy was a devoted daughter, beloved wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and loving nature. Nancy was a wonderful caregiver to both her mother and husband. REW, Paul B., 51, died October 10, 2002. He is survived by his father, Dr. John B. Rew of Odessa; his sister, Rebecca Hornbuckle of Vero Beach; and his brothers, Tim and Nat. An active Marine since March 1980, he will be buried at Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, on Tuesday, October, 15, 2002 at 2 p.m.
