BARATTA, Mary A., 80, of Holiday, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002 at home. She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey and moved here from Jersey City, N.J. in 1987. She was a homemaker and attended St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church in Tarpon Springs. She was also a member of the A.A.R.P. and the Christian Teaching Network in Clearwater, Fla. Survivors include her son, Clement P. Baratta of Jersey City, N.J. and Holiday; her daughter, Angela M. Pagano and her husband, Michael of Matawan, N.J.; brother, John DiBartolomeo of Holiday; and three sisters, Jean Baratta of Bellmore, L.I., N.Y., Gloria DiBartolomeo of Harrison, N.J. and Helen Morena of New Port Richey. Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a Wake Service at 6:15 p.m. at Dobies Funeral Home, Bartelt Road Chapel, Holiday. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. at St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church, Tarpon Springs with Entombment at Curlew Hills.

BARSNESS, Marvin, 61, of Zephyrhills, died Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at his residence. Born in Cass Lake, Minnesota, he moved to this area 18 years ago from Panama Canal Zone. Mr. Barsness was a retired Policeman working for the Federal Government in Panama Canal Zone, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of the Elks in Panama. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, October 17, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. at Victorious Life Church in Wesley Chapel with Pastor Ed Russo officiating. Mr. Barsness is survived by his wife, Virginia `Toddy` of Zephyrhills; two sons, Kyle Barsness of Land O' Lakes, Fla. and Kevin Barsness of Cass Lake, Minnesota; one daughter, Karen Kraplin of Bemidji, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

CARPENTER, Roger, 65, of Trilacoochee, died Monday, October 14, 2002 at James A. Haley Veteran's Hospital in Tampa. A native of Trilby, he retired from the US Air Force with the rank of MSGT. He returned to this area in 1977 and was employed by the Pasco County Sheriff's Office and retired as a 911 operator. He operated Small Farms in Trilacoochee and was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. Survivors include a son, George R. Carpenter, Jr. of Webster; three daughters, Debbie Shirer of Trilacoochee and The Twins, Terry Amburgey and Sherry Hattaway, both of Dade City; three sisters, Shirley Adams of Fannin Springs, Fla., Betty Scoggins of Bushnell and Maryellen Hurtz of Fla.; a brother, Ora Carpenter, Jr. of Trilacoochee; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2002 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2002 with Reverend Marvin Strickland officiating. Burial will follow at Trilby Cemetery.

COLKMIRE, Abe, 78, of Ridge Manor, Fla., passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2002 in Dade City. He is survived by his wife, Edith P. Colkmire, Ridge Manor; two sons and daughter-in-law, Steven Colkmire, Largo, Fla., Lance W. and Sharon Colkmire, Cleveland, Tenn.; his brother and sister-in-law, Brownie F. and Joy Colkmire, Plant City, Fla.; and five grandchildren. He was born February 24, 1924 in Perry, Fla., and moved to the Dade City area 32 years ago from Tampa, Fla. He retired as an Agent for the Insurance Industry having worked for both Gulf Life Insurance and American General Insurance. Following his retirement, he enjoyed his job as a Greeter for the Dade City WalMart. He was a member of the Courts of Praise Worship Center in Ridge Manor and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Hodges Family Funeral Home with Pastor G.W. Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to service time, from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be gratefully accepted, but those that wish may make donations to the Courts of Praise worship Center in Ridge Manor, Fla.

HOWELL, Clevie V., 62, of St. Petersburg and formerly of Lacoochee, died Sunday, October, 13, 2002. She was born in Coleman, Fla. and moved to St. Petersburg in 1979. She was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Mae Parrish. Survivors include her aunt, Polly George of Gainesville, Fla.; five brothers, Jimmy, John, Charlie, Leroy and Bill, all of Ocala; three sisters, Eunice Parrish of Jacksonville, Fla., Ruth Lloyd of Ocala., Fla. and Glenda Pelham of Lacoochee, Fla.; as well as several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2002 at Coleman and Ferguson Funeral Home, Dade City Chapel with visitation prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

O'BRIEN, Mary Catherine (Rushford), 74, passed away on October 13, 2002 at Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, Fla. Born on October 3, 1928 in Mongomery, Vt., she graduated from Gardner High School in Gardner, Mass. in 1946. Before moving to Zephyrhills, Fla., she lived in Princeton, Mass. for 43 years on Redemption Rock Trail. She was a volunteer for Princeton Schools and for the Girl Scout Office for the Montachusett Girl Scout Council and a girl scout leader and member of the Prince of Peace Women's Guild in Princeton. She was an enthusiastic traveler and crafter. She was a retired secretary for the Massachusetts State Board of Education. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph H. O'Brien, Sr.; four sons, Kerry O'Brien of Bellevue, Idaho, Kevin O'Brien of Friday Harbor, Wash., Dennis O'Brien Bellvue, Idaho and Joseph O'Brien, Jr. of Princeton, Mass.; three daughters, Maureen Owings of Old Town, Idaho, Patricia O'Brien of New Tripoli, Pa. and Kathleen Packard of Princeton, Mass.; her brother, Richard Rushford of Hubbardston, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In lieu or flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation; the Pasco County Fire Rescue, P.O. Box 1199, Land O' Lakes, FL 34639-1199; or to the charity of your choice.

SUMMERS, Thomas F., Jr. MD, 65, of Port Richey, died Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, Hudson. He was born in Olney, Illinois and moved here from Birmingham, Ala. He was retired as a Medical Doctor of Family Practice and a US Army Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Summers; son, Erik C. Summers; daughter, Christina E. Summers; step-son, Brian A. Lobodinsky; and step-daughter, Julie M. Lobodinsky.

Adamo, Atlanta, Ga.; daughter, Leslie Adamo Andrade and husband Anthony; brothers, Harold Sheridan, Long Island, N.Y., Robert Adamo, Lutz, Fla., and Joseph J. ANDERSON, Janice, 64, of Tampa died October 15, 2002. She was born in Hartford, Conn., lived in Tolland, Conn for 40 years, moving to Tampa, Fla., in Feb., 2002 from Raleigh, N.C. She is survived by daughters, Jandi Procko and husband Charles, and Cassandra Anderson, both of Tampa; brother, Robert Rankin, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sisters, Grace Robarge and husband Harry Barney, Lady Lake, Fla., Elizabeth Belanger and husband Robert of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Roberta Rankin, Willimantic, Conn.; many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held Friday, Oct. 18, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

BARKER, Edward Joseph, 73, of Tampa, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2002 at Tampa General Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Franziska; two daughters, Sandy Ammons and Monika Koch and her husband, Robert; a granddaughter, Janine Lowe; a grandson, Robby Ammons, all of Tampa; and a niece, Ernestine Murray of Iowa. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Mark III Funeral Home South Tampa Chapel and friends may visit one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery. Mr. Barker was a member of American Legion Post #138, the Moose and was a Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars serving 26 years in the Air Force.

COY, William F., 76, a former long time resident of South Toledo, passed away Tuesday October 15, 2002 at the Franciscan Care Center. He owned and operated the former Coy's Towing Co. for more than 30 years, retiring in 1979. William was a World WarII Army Veteran and also played the trumpet in the Army Band. He was an avid bowler, a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame, and a former Cub Scout Leader. Bill also enjoyed traveling and fishing. He is survived by daughters, Rebecca (Ron) Mominee, Janet (Robert) Smelt and Phyllis (Dennis) Cole; grandchildren, Robert and Brandice DeStazio, Tiffany and Jessica Cole and Steven Davis; and great-granddaughter, Clarissa DeStazio. William was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis Coy; and son, Robert C. Coy. Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, Ohio Friday at 8:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania, Ohio. DALESSIO, John, 84, of Lutz, Fla., passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Elise of Lutz; two sons, John and wife, Kathie and Michael and wife, Annette; four daughters, Mary, Sister Elizabeth Seton, Joan and Therese Butler and husband, Thomas; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, all from New Jersey. John was a native of N.J., a retired consulting engineer, a US Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tampa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace B. Dalessio. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Friday, Oct. 18 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 15520 N. Boulevard in Tampa. The family will receive friends at the church Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until services. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of John, may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Tampa. Interment will be in New Jersey.

FABIAN, Ida F., 96, of Tampa, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002. She is survived by two nieces, Betty Woehlk and husband, Gus and Mary Ash Hampton; one nephew, J.W. GONZALEZ, Julia, 65, of Lutz, passed away on October 14, 2002. Born in Alabama, she resided in the Tampa area for the last 22 years. She was a Free Methodist and a member of the Celebration Free Methodist Church. She retired from the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital after 27 years as a telephone operator. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Aladino Gonzalez; her son, Tony of Lakeland; two daughters, Debbie Vincent of Lakeland and Barbara Gonzalez of Lutz; three brothers, Charles Strickland of Orlando, Lewis Strickland of Arcadia and Robert Strickland of St. Cloud, Fla.; three grandchildren, Michael, Sammantha and Amber; and great-grandson, Jordan. Visitation will be held this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home with graveside services to follow on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Hillsboro Memorial Gardens. JOHNSON, Carolyn Allen, born Jan. 13, 1924, died peacefully Oct. 14, 2002. She is survived by Frank Johnson, her husband of 48 years; her brother, Gordon Allen of New Hampshire; four sons; three daughters-in-law; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other `adopted` children and grandchildren. A decorated USAF Flight Nurse, she served in the Korean War and at assignments around the world. After retiring to raise her family, she served in medical facilities around Tampa. She continued to serve as a volunteer with the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and then, for many years, with Meals on Wheels. Donations to Meals on Wheels are requested in lieu of flowers. Visitation is Oct. 18, 6-8 p.m. at Blount, Curry, & Roel, W. Bearss Ave. Services will be Oct. 19., 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, N. Boulevard, Tampa.

JONES, Joan Mary Mc Cue, 67, of Brandon, passed away October 15, 2002 after a long illness. Formally of Beloit, Wis., she was a 1953 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School and alumni of Beloit College. Joan was co-owner of Jones Trophies for over 18 years before retiring to Florida in 1980. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Beloit for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Jessie McCue of Beloit; and son, David. Survivors include her husband, Willard Jones of Land O' Lakes; two daughters, Kim Dunaway and husband, Jack of Land O' Lakes and Mary Jo Jones of Brandon; sister, Barbara Risseeuw and husband, Norman of Goodyear, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Angelique Hedman of Lexington, S.C. and SPC Lucas Dunaway of Ft. Campbell, Ky.; and one great-grandson. At her request, her remains will be cremated and scattered at sea. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Muscular Dystrophy Association, 3300 E. KENNEDY, Ella L., 72, of Pinellas Park, passed away on Oct. 13, 2002. Her son, James Kennedy of Wareham, Mass.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren survive her.
