BENKO, Mary Josephine, 87, of Hudson, Florida, died Friday, October 18, 2002 at Bayonet Point Health and Rehab Center, Hudson, Florida. She was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Hudson from St. Petersburg in 2001. Memberships/Activities; she was a homemaker; member Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Petersburg; Rosary Society, Jersey City, N.J. Survivors; son, Ron Benko Brooksville, Fla.; sister, Marge Friehl; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. Visitation will be Monday October 21, 2002 from 12:00 noon until service time at 1:00 p.m. at Dobies Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667.

CHAMBERLAIN, Viola, age 90, of John Knox Village in Tampa, passed away October 18, 2002. She is survived by one daughter, Alma Claussen of San Antonio, Fla.; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held, Monday October 21, (tomorrow) at 1:30 p.m., at Oakley Funeral Home in Dade City.

GOODE, James E., 73, of Trinity, formerly of Northdale, passed away on October 14, 2002 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, he moved her in 1989 from Minneapolis, Minn. He was the chief executive officer for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Tampa Bay for 12 years and he was a prearrangement counselor for National Cremation Society in New Port Richey. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Goode was a Salvation Army officer for 20[x.9 years in the western division and county commander for Santa Clara County, Calif., and a former Rotarian. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; four daughters, Susan Payton of Prescott, Ariz., Debie Buckingham of Fredricksburg, Va., Linda Linnea Miller of Honolulu, and Betsy Jane Goode of Trinity; a son, James Nel son Goode of Trinity and a student in Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother, Philip Goode of Millbrae, Calif.; and four grandchildren. A memorial, in celebration of his life, will be held on Monday, October 21, 2002 at 4 p.m. at Idlewild Baptist Church, 1515 W. Bearss Avenue, Tampa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Community Foundation of Tampa or of Pasco.

RAPPO, Angelina M., 77 ,of New Port Richey, died ,Friday, October 18, 2002, at the Hernando Pasco Hospice Care Center in New Port Richey. Born in Farmingdale, NY, she moved here from Hicksville, NY in 1990. Survivors include her husband, Stephen; four daughters, Laura Chapin, of Patchogne, NY, Debra Toomey, of Medford, NY, Lynda Goldbaum, of Center Moriches, NY, and Donna McSharry, of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Palma Disgdiertt, of Tampa; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, October 21 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at the North Meadowlawn Funeral Home, New Port Richey, FL, (727) 849-9281. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, New Port Richey, with entombment to follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens, New Port Richey.

REDD, Everett, 93 of New Port Richey, Florida, died Friday, October 18, 2002 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center, New Port Richey, Florida. He was born in Union County, Indiana and moved to New Port Richey from Plymouth, Mich., in 1968. He was one of the founders and first President and lifetime member of the Richey Region Antique Automobile Club of America; and member of National Antique Car Club since 1961. Survivors; sons, Paul (Nancy) Redd, Mukwonago, Wis., Floyd (Marilyn) Redd, Williamsburg, Indiana ; daughters, Joan Walker, Ann Arbor, Mich., Mildred Smith, New Port Richey, Fla.; sister, Ethel Patterson, Richmond, Indiana ; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter. Visitation; Monday, October 21, 2002, 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at Dobies Funeral Home. Burial following at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens.

SMITH, James Henry, 78, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2002 in Sebring, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Goldie Smith; and a sister Jean Morrison. He is survived by his wife, Margarite Smith of Dade City; three sons, Bobby, Billy and David Smith all of Dade City; one step-son, James Scruggs of Jonesboro, Ga.; one daughter, Marie Woods of Dade City. four brothers, R.J. of Winter Garden, George and Sonny Smith of Sebring, and Grady Smith of Dade City; two sisters, Virginia Gavin of Dade City, and Pat Carter of Sebring; 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Graveside Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at Florida National Cemetery, with VFW Post #8154 officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2002 at Whitfield Funeral Home. James was a childhood friend of Hank Williams Sr., where they sold peanuts and shined shoes together in Georgiana, Alabama, and he also served as chauffeur for Hank early in his career. He retired from Lykes Pasco in Dade City, and was a Veteran of the Army serving in World War II.

He was born in Clifton, New Jersey and moved to New Port Richey from Garfield, N.J. in 1988. Memberships/Activities: He was a heavy equipment mechanic; Army Veteran of World War II; member St. Andrew the First Called Orthodox Church, New Port Richey; Heritage Lakes Association, New Port Richey; American Legion Post #79, New Port Pichey; Tarpon Springs Moose Lodge #1429, Holiday. Survivors; wife, Mary Van Dorn New Port Richey; son, Frederick Van Dorn, Jr., Toms River, N.J. ; daughters, Dolores Barcellona, Miami, Fla., Margaret Van Dorn, Carrollton, Texas ; granddaughters, Kelley Powell, Tampa, Fla., Shawna Powell, Orlando, Fla. Burial took place on Saturday at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens.

ADAMS, Deana, M. 53 of Odessa, Florida passed away on October 16, 2002. Ms. Adams served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, she was a registered nurse. Ms. Adams is survived by her brothers, Brian Adams of Waterbury, Connecticut, Colin Adams, Oakville, Connecticut; and her sister, Debra Pryzbylek of Swanton, Ohio.

BASO, Marcelle, age 72, of Tampa passed away Thursday, October 17, 2002. She was a native of Canteleu, France and came to Tampa in 1952. She is survived by her loving husband, Elido; son, Phillip Marc Baso and his fiance Debra of Savannah, Ga; daughter, Regine Madeline Thornton and husband Kevin of Savannah, Ga; grandchildren, Danielle and Marcus Baso of Coral Springs, Fla., Samantha Parker and Brian Snead both of Brandon; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Brandon Parker of Brandon, Fla. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 21st, 10 a.m. from the Blount Curry & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Ave. with Entombment to follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday, 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She is survived by two sons, David H. Elsbree and wife, Patricia of Greenville, N.Y., John L. Elsbree and wife, Anne of Kensington, Md.; a daughter, Susan E. Torre and husband Anthony of Sun City Center; a sister, Ann Cunningham of Wellsley Hills, Mass; a brother, William Harby of Belmont, Mass.; eleven grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Alzheimer's Assn.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth and wife Mary Ann of Lockhart, Texas ; daughter, Bea Puco and husband Anthony of Valrico, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Michael, Kenneth, Sheryl and Debbie of Texas , and Cyndi, Sandy and Vicki of Florida; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Keith. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Glass Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Guy M. Glass will officiate. HEMPING, Mary Isabel, 91, 0f Sun City Center, passed away October 10, 2002. She was born in East Moline, Ill. and moved here in the early 1970's. She was a retired teacher. She was a member of United Community Church, PEO, and the Retired Teachers Assn. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Burge and husband Jack; a son, Steven and wife Norine; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 21, 4:00 p.m. at United Community Church, conducted by Rev. Dr. Michael Evans. `She is loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Karsner of Newtown Square, Pa.; daughters, Diane P. Heckman of Shippensburg, Pa., Darlene K. Collins (Mark) of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Denise C. Tasick of East Stoudsburg, Pa.; granddaughter, Chelsea D. Heckman; and his companion of many years, Beverly N. Larson. Mr. Karsner loved ice hockey, jazz, dancing and walks on the beach. He also served in the U.S. Army in Japan from 1946-1948 and had an extensive career in real estate. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Fla. The funeral services will be held on Monday, October 21, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with interment to follow in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
