HEISS, Joan A., 71, passed away October 20, 2002. Survivors include her husband, Thomas C. Heiss; sons, Craig and wife Janet, and Shaun and Brent and wife Karla; brother Michael McGoey; sister, Mary and husband James Kamps; grandchildren, Megan, Molly, Paul, Michael, Brittany, Brianna, Elizabeth, Vincent and Elana. Mrs. Heiss was Catholic by faith and a bookkeeper. She was truly loved and will be missed by all those who knew her. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa, FL 33609.

JOHNSON, Clarence B., 80 of Tampa, Florida passed away peacefully at his home on October 20, 2002. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; and is survived by his son, Clarence B. Johnson II and his wife Margo; daughters, Sharon P. Joyce, Sylvia Brown and her husband Roy; sister-in-law, Jonnie Richards; niece and nephew: Ed and Patty Smith; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was a Paratrooper in the U.S. Army during the Normandy Invasion with the 101st Airborne. That is where he earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. After his career in the insurance business as an agent he worked for the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital as a service officer where he fought for the rights and benefits of our veterans. Mr. Johnson was also an active member of the DAV Chapter 4 and the NOTR. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele Street, Tampa, FL 33609. The family will receive friends on Friday at 10:45 a.m. at Blount Curry & Roel Funeral Home, Garden of Memories Chapel, 4207 E. Lake Avenue. The funeral services will follow immediately after the visitation at noon.

KELLY, Jr., William, 74, of Lakeland, died Oct. 20, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Barbara P. Kelly; three sons; one sister; one brother; and three grandchildren.

MANNION, Thomas J., Jr., Col. (USAF Ret.) 69, of Largo, died Oct. 19, 2002 at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. He was born in Galway, Ireland and was raised in St. Louis, Mo. He moved to Florida in 1983 from Albuquerque, N.M. In 1962 he was transferred to the 12th TFW where he flew F-84's. In 1966 he was one of 12 pilots selected for the first class to fly the F-4 Phantom. He flew 206 Combat Missions as an F-4 Aircraft Commander. In 1966 he returned to MacDill as an instructor pilot in the 15th TFW. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Largo; the Order of Daedalians; TROA; Santa Maria Council, Knights of Columbus, St Louis; a graduate (Bachelor and Masters) of St. Louis University; and a member of Florida 's Beach Host. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Helen; son, Thomas `Trey` III of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughters, Sue McNamara of Dunn, N.C., Ginni Smith of Tierra Verde, Fla., Gerri Reagan of Yorktown, Va., and Mimi Andresky of Sunrise, Fla., and Marybeth Endrulat of N. Redington Beach, Fla.; brother, Frank of Houston, Texas ; sister, Margaret Mary Flynn of St. Louis, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Thursday at th e funeral home chapel. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10895 Hamlin Blvd., Largo. MATHEWS, Ruby Opal, 86, of Brandon passed away at home on Sunday, October 20, 2002. A native of Jefferson Co., Okla. she had resided here for 31 years. She is survived by her grandchildren, Cynthia Muir and Bill Ratliff and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, 6919 Providence Rd. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to services. Interment will be private at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Orlando. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, 12902 Magnolia Dr., Tampa, FL 33612.

PATRIZIO, Jeanne E., 71, of New Port Richey, died October 19, 2002 at Community Hospital, New Port Richey. She was born in Norwalk, Conn. and moved here in 1973 from Jersey City, N.J. Jeanne was a customer service representative for K-Mart for 13 years in New Port Richey and a member of St. Stephen Episcopal Church. She wrote and illustrated children's stories and enjoyed arts and crafts. Jeanne was a devoted mother and grandmother. Survivors include her son, Andrew Patrizio of Midland Park, N.J.; four daughters, Susan Smith of Enid, Oklahoma, Dianna Jabbour and Cheryl Biancolli, both of New Port Richey and Jean Emanuel of Holiday; one brother, John Jack Jensen of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren.

PHILLIPS, Alma Cecelia Fernandez, a Tampa native went to be with the Lord Monday, October 21, 2002. She was the daughter of Carmen Fernandez and the late Armando Fernandez of Tampa. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Joel L. Phillips; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. J. Wayne and Bridget Phillips of Clearwater; daughter and son-in-law, Irene and David J. Couchman of Tampa; sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Jean Lamb of Tampa; sister-in-law, Hazel Phillips Bryant of Tampa; nephews, Bruce and wife Roberta, and Keith Lamb; and seven grandchildren, Kevin and wife Lana, Colleen, Michael and Kerry Phillips, and Kimberly, Amanda and Paul Couchman. While attending Jefferson High School, Alma studied voice under Carmelina DiMinicis. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City to continue with her music. There she trained with noted opera voice coach Ettore Verna at Radio City Music Hall. She appeared in the Broadway Musical produced by Felix Brentano, `Mr. Strauss Goes to Boston,` at the Shubert Theatre in New York. Upon returning to Tampa, she married and began her family. Alma continued entertaining local audiences by performing with the `Tampa Symphonette` (The original Florida Orchestra), under the direction of Maximo Echegaray at Plant Park. Alma appeared in `The Red Mill,` and `The King and I` productions of the Tampa Lyric Theater. For more than 20 years she was a favorite at the Spanish Little Theatre under the direction of Rene Gonzalez. While performing, Alma managed to find time to volunteer at Sacred Heart School and Church. She wore numerous h ats in the PTA, and set a record for the amount of money raised during the annual carnivals. She sang in the choirs of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, and Congregation Schaarai Zedek-Reform. She helped her son's medical practice in Clearwater flourish as the original office manager. Alma bravely battled breast cancer for 13 years. She was a loving and deeply-loved wife , mother and grandmother who participated fully in the lives of her loved ones. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 509 N. Florida Avenue, with interment to follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the MacDill Avenue Chapel where the Wake Rite will be conducted at 7 p.m.

VASQUEZ, Henrietta, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 21, 2002. She was surrounded by her family. She was a native of Tampa, Florida. She dedicated her life to her children and family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 and a half years (to the date), Lionel Vasquez; her daughters, Nydia Vasquez Lounders, and Aileen Escribano and her husband Joe; her granddaughters, Desiree Works and her husband Scott, Nicole Karlson, Raquel Martini, Natalie Scheer and her husband Charles; her great grandchildren, Jake Works, Ryan Works, Nicholas Karlson, and Payton Scheer; her brother, Phillip Ruiz; her sister, Carmen Guerra; and many nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2002, 2 p.m. at the Garden of Memories C hapel, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, with Pastor Ronald H. Clark officiating and Rev. John Haywood. Pallbearers will include Scott Works, Charles Scheer, Dr. Phillip Ruiz, Jr., Robert Ruiz, Jerry Guerra, Bill Guerra, Lionel Ferrera, David Ferrera, and Jesse Rodriguez. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Health Care and, or, Living Water Church.

WHITNEY, Mrs. Ezma A., 99, of Sun City Center died October 21, 2002. Survivors include her sons, Glenn and Gerald; and five grandchildren.

BELLE, William Paul, 78, of Spring Hill, formerly of Tampa, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at his residence. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he came to this area four years ago from Tampa. He was a retired registered physical therapist and an U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was a member of BelMar Presbyterian Church and American Legion, both in Tampa, and a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruby K.; two sons, W. Douglas of Tampa, and Donald K. of Spring Hill; one daughter, Mary Crum of Valdosta, Ga.; and five beloved grandchildren. Friends may call 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Friday at Turner Funeral Homes Spring Hill Chapel where services will be held at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Survivors include daughter, Evelyn A. Rhodes and granddaughter, Brenda E. Rhodes. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Stowers Brandon Chapel Funeral Home.

DEZIELL, Russell C., 83, of Dunedin died October 22, 2002 at Hospice House of Woodside in Pinellas Park, Florida. He moved to Florida in 1982 from his native Springfield, Mass. He was a retired brake man for the N.Y. Central Railroad in Albany, N.Y. for 40 years. A was a member of the Moose Lodge in Chicopee, Mass. and The UTU-United Trainman Union (National). He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Deziell of 60 years, Dunedin, Fla.; a son, Russell D. Deziell, Westfield, Mass.; a daughter, Karen Foley, Providence, R.I.; two sisters, Pearl Pepin, Springfield, Mass., and Geraldine Riley, Agawam, Mass.; and three grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady Of the Lourdes Church in Dunedin, Florida on Saturday, October 25, 2002 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to The Hospice Of the Florida Suncoast, East Bay Drive, Clearwater, Florida.

DICKERSON, Jane T., 75, passed away October 22, 2002. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Theodore V. Dickerson; son, Thomas V. and wife Denise A. Dickerson, daughter, Meri Jane Dickerson-Menendez Line is overdrawn Line is overdrawn and husband Dr. Luis T. Menendez; grandchildren, Daniel and Cory Dickerson and John Michael and Jennifer A. Menendez. Mrs. Dickerson was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and was a Teacher at the Parish Day School for 31 years. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi Chapter Laureate Beta Alpha. Mrs. Dickerson was very devoted to her work and was dearly loved by all those who knew her. Visitation will be from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, (tonight) at the South Tampa Chapel of Mark III Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2002 at the funeral home. Burial will follow to Myrtle Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the American Lung Assoc.. of Gulfcoast Florida, 15438 N. Florida Ave., #102, Tampa, FL 33613.
