ALSPACH, Howard Earl, 93, of Tampa passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at Bon Securs Maria Manor. A native of Delphos, Ohio, he is survived by his five sons, H. Earl Jr. and his wife Elaine, Loren, Bryan T. and his wife Tish, and Neil A., and John L. Alspach; a sister Ruth Brickner; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. Alspach was a member of Hyde Park Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Aberdeen Angus Association and served on the board of directors of the Equity Dairy. A funeral service will be held (today), Thursday, October 31, 2002 at 4 p.m. at the Hyde Park Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kenneth Shick officiating.

ANDERSON, Lucille Franklin, 92, of Riverview passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 in Lithia, Fla. She was a native of Rochelle, Ga. and moved to Wimauma in 1940. She is survived by three sons, William Franklin, Hawthorne, Jack Franklin (Daisy), Riverview, and Raymond Franklin (Sharon), Lithia; five daughters, Hilda Wilford, Alpharetta Ga., Mary Tullis, Mulberry, Joann Keene (Hank), Lithia, Irene Greene, Buford, Ga., and Rosalyn Bedingfield (David), Montgomery, Ala.; two brothers, Milton Cook, North Carolina, and Woodrow Cook, Cairo, Ga.; three sisters, Gertrude Hooks, Cairo, Ga., Rosaline Mills, Cairo, Ga., and Wilma Hicks, Ochlocknee, Ga.; 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren. She was employed by Hillsborough County School System for 20 years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, 11 a.m., at Little Union Primitive Baptist Church, Lithia, Fla. Elder Steve Wilkinson will officiate. Interment to follow at Fellowship Cemetery. Family will receive friends, Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, 6 to 8 p.m. at Stowers Riverview Chapel. Her grandsons are to be pallbearers.

COMPFORT, John Edward, 84, of Olean, N.Y. and Clearwater, died Oct. 29, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Marge D. Compfort of Clearwater and Olean, N.Y.

CRIBBS, W. Ray, 82, of Riverview, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002. He is survived by two sisters, Jewel Scott-Billingsley of Riverview, Fla., and Evelyn Toole of Lithia, Fla.; aunt, Hazel Hurst of Tampa, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews. She was a lifetime resident of Hillsborough County and of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be held at Stowers Riverview Chapel Friday, November 1, 2002 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

HAND, Opal, 71, of Sun City and a life time resident of the area, died Oct. 30, 2002. She is survived by her son, Keith; daughters, Donna and Julie; her mother, Annie; two brothers; two sisters; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Ruskin. Burial will follow in Gulf City Cemetery in Ruskin. A visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002 from 2-4 p.m. at Zipperer's Funeral Home.

HILL, Edna Chancey, passed away on Monday night, October 28, 2002 at home with her family. She was born in Winder, Ga. and moved to Tampa in 1957. She is survived by her devoted husband, Howard L. Hill; they were married 53 years; her daughter, Vicki Hill Hoffman and husband, Joe Hoffman of Atlanta, Ga.; son, H. Lee Hill of Tampa; granddaughter, Jennifer Hill Peterson and husband Ryan Peterson; and grandson, Joseph Hoffman, all of Athens, Ga. Her sisters, Frances Smith of Redington S hores, Fla., Johnnie Lou Patillo of Boynton Beach, Fla., Debbie O'Connell of Palm Beach, Fla., Helen Hill of Gray, Ga., Becky Gunter of Columbus, Miss. and Katie Bishop of Athens, Ga.; and her brothers, Lewis Chancey of Boynton Beach, Fla., Ronald Chancey of Winder, Ga., and Bill Chancey of Tucson, Ariz., will miss her greatly. Edna's spirit was realized in her community service. She served as Pub lic Relations Director for University Community Hospital of Tampa. She was President of the Red Cross Angels and was the Chairman of the first Red Cross Ball in Tampa. She was a Member of the Sword of Hope Guild for the American Cancer Society. She was a founding member of the Krewe of Venus, where she was the first woman President. She was a Duchess, wife of a King, and mother of a Queen. In 2002 , she was recipient of the Lucille Cochran Award for dedication, honor, and service. Edna graciously welcomed the King of Sweden when her husband, Howard, was Knighted. She was a member of The Tampa Yacht and Country Club, The University Club, The Tampa Woman's Club, and The 39 ers Club. Edna was a member of the First Christian Church of Tampa where she served as a Deaconess. She was President of the Christian Women's Fellowship, and Circle Leader. She was active in an Agape Group and President of the Homebuilder's Sunday School class. Edna was known for her unselfishness and generosity. The loss of her impact as a single individual on so many lives will leave a tremendous void. She had a caring spirit and was full of unconditional love and friendship. Her giving spirit made her `larger th an life`. Her greatest accomplishment was her children, Vicki and Lee, and her grandchildren. She delighted in their joys and triumphs. Her granddaughter Jennifer's wedding, in December of 2001, was one of the highlights of her life. The celebration of love was what Edna was all about. Funeral services will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy, Winder, Ga., on Saturday, November 2. A Celebration of Edna Hill's Life will be held in Tampa at the First Christian Church, 350 Hyde Park Avenue on Sunday, November 10, at 2:30 p.m. Following the celebration, the family will receive visitors in the Church Fellowship Hall. For 20 years, Edna supported the Children's Home. She was twice President of what is now the South Tampa Auxiliary of the Children's Home, Inc. The family requests that contributions be sent to The South Tampa Auxiliary of the Children's Home, Inc., 10909 Memorial Hwy, Tampa, FL 33615. At every sunrise and every sunset, we will remember the joy of Edna, and the beauty of her heart and soul.
