BARNOSKI, Peter, 69, of Hudson, Florida, died Sunday, November 3, 2002 at North Bay Medical Center, New Port Richey, Fla. Born in Coventry, N.Y., Peter moved here in 1957 from Deposit, N.Y. He was a State Investigator for the Public Defender Office for the State of Florida and was a Christian. He also served in the US Army in Korea. He was a member of the Amvets, VFW and Moose Lodge, all of Hudson, Fla. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Barnoski of Hudson; three sons, Stephen Barnoski of Tampa, Randy Barnoski of Palm Harbor and John Barnoski of Arundel, Maine; and five grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at Bell Funeral Home, 7532 State Road 52, Hudson, Fla. on Thursday November 7, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association as tribute.

FJELD, Shirley Mae, 63, of Zephyrhills, passed away November 3, 2002 in Dade City. Survived by her husband, Richard A. Fjeld of Zephyrhills; four sons, Mark Fjeld of Zephyrhills, Mike Fjeld of Glencoe, Minn., Jim Fjeld of Chaska, Minn. and Gary Fjeld of New Hampshire; a daughter, Cynthia Richards of Pennsylvania ; eight grandchildren; and three sisters, Phyllis, Joan and Margaret. She was born January 4, 1939 in Elwood, Indiana . Shirley sewed commercially for a Diving Equipment Company. She was a Lutheran and came to the Zephyrhills area 13 years ago from Minnesota.

FRIES, Stephen K., 86, of Port Richey, Fla., passed away November 4, 2002 at Madison Pointe Rehabilitation Center. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., he came here 25 years ago from Long Island, N.Y. He was a retired mechanic for Neptune Meter Works, member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and an Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Amelia of Port Richey; two daughters, Arlene Bondanza of Hudson, Fla., and Diane Ladolcetta of Long Island; six grandchildren, Michael Matulewich, Laura Gambino, Denise Matulewich, Stacey Cutrona, Matthew Ladolcetta and Keith Ladolcetta; and one great-grandchild, Amber Matulewich. Visitation will be Thursday November 7, 2002 at Bell Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Friday 11 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery with military Honors.

HICKS, Donald `Donnie`, 54, of Dade City, died November 1, 2002 at home. A native of Peru, Indiana , he moved to this area in 1982 from Muncie, Indiana . He was a self employed long distance truck driver. Survivors include three daughters, Lori Hicks and Toni Platt, both of Muncie and Toya Hicks of Dade City; a son, Donald Mattingly of California; father, Donald L. (Joann) Hicks of Cowan, Indiana ; step-father, Jack Salyer of Muncie, Indiana ; two grandchildren, Leslie and Johnson Frye, both of Dade City; two sisters, Barbara Hall and her husband, Don of Indianapolis and Gina Schneider and her husband, John of Dade City; a brother, Gene Salyer and his wife, Joan of Muncie; his companion, JoAnn Weeks of Dade City; his children's mother, Johnette Platt; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mem orial Service will be held at 6 p.m. in the Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 6, 2002, with Pastor Bill Thompson officiating. Funeral Services and burial will be in Indiana . In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation.

JAMESON, James W., 74, died November 4, 2002 at Tampa, Florida. He was born July 4, 1928, the son of Frances and Benita Jameson. He grew up in East Millinocket and attended Schenck High School. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jameson; four sons, James and wife Marylou of Litchfield, Maine, Timothy of York, Nebraska, Jeffrey and wife Lori of Millinocket, Thomas and wife Laurie of Millinocket, Maine; two daughters, Donna Rousseau of Old Town, Maine and Tracey Nelson and husband David of Old Town, Maine. He is survived by eleven grandchildren, Chad, Todd, and Christy Rousseau, Alicia and Allison Jameson, Jessica, Amanda and Michael Jameson, Casey and Samantha Jameson, Chad Nelson; one great-grandchild, Izaiah Bouchard; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by four brothers, John of Fountain Ualey, California, George (Bud) of Glen Falls, New York, Benjamin of Hampton, Virginian and Michael of Henderson, Kentucky. He is predeceased by his parents and one sister, Francis White. Jim was a US Army veteran and retired with 38 years of service from the Great Northern Paper Co. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending his summers at Ambajejus Lake and winters in Florida. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

JEDYNAK, Herman, 85, of New Port Richey, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2002 at Community Hospital of New Port Richey. He came here 25 years ago from his native Flint, Michigan. He was a supervisor for Flint Sterilized Products. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, New Port Richey; Polish American Social Club of Hudson; Polish American Pulaski Association of Holiday; and Sarca member of Polish Legion of AM Vets, Dennis Orloski, Post #184, New Port Richey. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anne Rose Jedynak of New Port Richey;, two sons, Jerome of Brooksville, Fla. and David of Galesburg, Mich.; two daughters, Maryann Mayer of Tucson, Arizona and Catherine E. Jedynak of Clearwater, Fla.; two brothers, John and Leo, both of San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, Irene Van Arsdale of Grand Blanc, Mich., Anna of Flint, Mich. and Mildred Ferkany of Rochester, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 6 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home. The service will be conducted on Thursday, November 7 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in New Port Richey.

JOHNSTON, Stella Elizabeth, 86, of Bayonet Point and formerly of Holiday, died Sunday, November 3, 2002 at home in Bayonet Point. She was born in Cedargrove, West Virginia and moved to Bayonet Point from Holiday in 1997. She was a secretary for a drug company and a Methodist. Survivors include her husband, James H. Johnston of Bayonet Point; four sons, Jimmy Carte of Nevada, Jimmy Johnston of Indiana , Michael Johnston of Tampa and Ray Johnston of Hudson; six daughters, Kay Carte of Nevada, Diana Carte of Nevada, Judy Carte of Hudson, Ruth Linger of Virginia, Iris Brisendine of West Virginia and Gay Johnston of Tennessee; brother, Edgbert Morris of West Virginia; sister, Marceline Arnold of West Virginia; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

JONES, Ralph Wesley, 81, of Dade City, died Tuesday morning, November 5, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the Coleman & Ferguson Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Harrelson officiating. Burial will follow at the Dade City Cemetery. A native of Harrison Co., W.Va., he moved to this area 20 years ago from Miami, Fla. He was a pilot for the Ohio Brake Sole Company for many years and had most recently been a self employed truck driver. He was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church. He is survived by his wife, Imogene North Jones; five step-children, Thomas Stevens, Jr. of Titusville, Fla., Warren Stevens of St. Joseph, Mary Lou Smisek of Dade City, Nancy Henson of Hawthorne, Fla. and Laura Schrader of San Antonio; and several grandchildren. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

SWEET, Huey Ray, 27, of Lacoochee, died Saturday, November 2, 2002 in Lacoochee. He was a lifelong resident of this area. Survivors include his fiancee, Melinda Cooner; his parents, Judy and Eusebio Mancera of Lacoochee; a brother, Paul (Jennifer) Mancera of Lacoochee; a sister, Tina (Freddy) Sweet of Lacoochee; his grandmother, Delores Garofano of Lacoochee; his grandfather, Kenneth Watts of Lacoochee; three aunts, Debra Knight, Joyce Sweet and Tonia Siegrist all of Lacoochee; four uncles, Jimmy Sweet, Nick Sweet, Billy Sweet and Lamont (Miranda) Simpson, all of Lacoochee; six cousins, Kenneth Meyers, Kevin Sweet, Brandie Sweet, Tasha Knight, Tommy Knight, Jr. and Linda Kay Parrish, all of Lacoochee; and five nieces and nephews, Eric Chesser, Leah Chesser, Makayla Chesser, Lee Rodriguez and Patience Mancera, all of Lacoochee. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Randall Belcher officiating.

VANDERWERF, Herman, 88, of Port Richey, died November 2, 2002 at Hilltop Manor in New Port Richey. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Herman moved to the area in 1997 coming from St. Petersburg. He was owner and operator of Vans Market & Produce in St. Petersburg. He was also a member of St. James Church. Herman is survived by his wife, Alma of Port Richey; three daughters, Nancy Taylor of Dunedin, Marijane Regnere of Port Richey and Joan Day of New Port Richey; one brother, James Vanderwerf of Buffalo, N.Y.; one sister, Jean Vanderwerf of Buffalo, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

VINSON, Grace E., 80, of Land O' Lakes, passed away Monday, November 4, 2002 at University Community Hospital of Carrollwood. She was born in Raleigh, Ga. and on July 21, 1922 her family moved to Atlanta and then to East Point, Ga. She attended Russell High School. She married Virgil Vinson in March 1942. In 1967 they moved from Washington D.C. to Tampa, Fla., then in November 1969 moved to Land O' Lakes. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Land O' Lakes. She is survived by her husband, Virgil; two sons, Wayne Vinson of Fayettville, Ga. and Jeffrey D. Vinson of Cape Cod, Mass.; one brother, Carl Morris of Sharpsburg, Ga.; one sister, Mary Ann Moore of Jasper, Ga.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Land O' Lakes.

ALVAREZ, Al, Sr., 71, of Gibsonton, passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Grace R. Alvarez; sons, Odilo S. Alvarez III and Miguel Alvarez; daughter, Roseann Dyal; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Anthony Alvarez. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, a U.S. Navy reservist for 29 years and retired after 25 years with IMC.

BARNES, W. Kenneth, of Tampa, died November 4, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Jane; son, Patrick and wife, Georgia; daughter, Judy Stephens and husband, Larry; four grandchildren, all of Tampa; and one sister, Margaret MacKillop of Denton, Texas . He was self-employed in the food industry and in property development. He served the Lord diligently in many capacities throughout his life and led an active Boy Scout troop for seven years. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Henderson Road Baptist Church or LifePath Hospice of Hillsborough. Funeral services will be held Friday 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

BIBB, Judson W., Jr., of Carrollwood, died in his home on November 2, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Judson III and Craig; and grandchildren, Jasper and Sarah. He was born on December 27, 1924 in Jacksonville, Fla. to Judson W. Bibb, Sr. and Eula Brooks Bibb. Judson loved his home state and knew it intimately. He spent years criss-crossing its back roads for General Motors. Judson was a founding member of the Kappa Sigma Chapter and one of the first male graduates of Florida State University. He remained a devoted fan of FSU football. Before FSU, he served in the Pacific aboard the SS Long Island and was among the first sailors to enter Tokyo after the Japanese surrender. He was cheerful and uplifting, quick with a joke or a story delivered with a mischievous smile. Devoted to tennis, he played doubles weekly at the Carrollwood Rec Center for more than 30 years. Judson was a kind, compassionate man who never met a stranger He built homes for Habitat for Humanity and tutored for numerous literacy programs. Shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Judson spent several months teaching English in Humenne, Czechoslovakia. He also contributed to FSU, Lake Magdalene UMC and the American Cancer Society. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Church or the American Cancer Society in memory of Judson W. Bibb, Jr.

BURCHFIELD, Quinn William, 3, of Tampa, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002. He is survived by his parents, Steven J. and Laura Burchfield; his two sisters, Brittany and Hannah; maternal grandparents, Mary and Jimmie Lucas, all of Tampa; paternal grandparents, Nancy and William Burchfield, of Columbia, South Carolina; great-grandparents, Henry and Alma Seal of Tampa; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The family w ishes to express how very proud they are of Quinn being an organ donor and touching many more lives. Quinn's joy for life continues. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the graveside in Garden of Memories Cemetery. CRAIG, Peggy L., 54, a resident of Lakeland, passed away November 4, 2002. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Bugg; one brother, Tommy Craig; two sisters, Tisa Craig and Cricket Parker; one niece, Nikki Sagraves; four nephews, Brent Sagraves, Michael Craig, Kyle Craig and Blake Craig; and her little dog, Mystikal. Ms. Craig was a lifelong resident of the area and taught in the Polk County School system for 33 years. Peggy was a very well loved teacher. She was a member of the Polk Educators Association; and member of the Florida Teachers of English. She worked for the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resource System and the Beacon Learning Center, an online resource. She was a member of the Turtle Watch of Anna Maria Island and member of First United Methodist Church of Lakeland. There will be a sharing of memories and pictures of Peggy on Thursday evening from 5-6 p.m., from 6-7 p.m. there will be a Memorial Service and from 7-8 p.m. there will be a feast and fellowship at the First United Methodist Church of Lakeland Fellowship Hall. He was born August 30, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Edward and Ella (Lewis) Cunningham. Visitation will be held at Victory Assembly of God on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 7, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Victory Assembly of God.
