OLIVA, Juan J., 83, of Tampa, passed away November 13, 2002. Survivors include his sons, Alfredo of Coral Gables, Frank T. of St. Petersburg and Juan Jr. `J.J.` of Thonotosassa; a daughter, Sandra Jimenez of Tampa; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters. Mr. Oliva was born in Candolaria, Cuba and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. The family will receive friends at the Garden Of Memories Chapel, 4207 E. Lake Ave., from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday with graveside services following in the Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.

PHALEN, Lillian Ann, 88, of Tampa and formerly of Toms River, New Jersey, passed away on November 11, 2002 at the Hawthorne Health and Rehabilitation Center in Brandon. She was born in New York City and worked for Montgomery Wards until she retired. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; and is survived by her sisters, Frances Quinn and Helen Mc Ginniss; her nieces, Patricia McGinniss and Patricia Porter; and a nephew, Robert Mc Ginniss. The family would like to thank the staffs at Hawthorne and LifePath Hospice for their help and support. Donations in her name may be sent to LifePath Hospice, 1647 Sun City Center Plaza, Sun City Center, FL 33573.

SOEDER, Mildred Evelyn, 73, of Tampa, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. (Rip) Soeder, her mother, Ruby R. Secrist, and her son, David A. Soeder. Her survivors include daughter, Brenda J. Kocsis, and husband Michael; son, Dallas W. Soeder and wife Amy; grandchildren, Ronald A. Mosley, Jr., and Philip M. Mosley; sisters, Sarah J. Knight and Margie Crow both of Texas ; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home chapel.

STINSON, Richard G., 55, of Seffner, passed away on November 12, 2002. He was a Salesman for U.S. Food Services for 10 years, a Methodist, a former Vice President of the Fightin' Gator Touchdown Club, and a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Dunn; son, Richard; daughters, Kelly Stinson and Sandi Pringle; brothers, Jerry, Bill and Randy; sister, Jackie Howell; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2002 from 6-8 p.m. with services to follow Saturday at 10 a.m., both at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home.

VALDEZ, Onelia Cruz, 77, of Tampa, Fla., passed away on Friday, November 8, 2002 at UCH-Carrollwood. She is survived by four sons, Louis, Angel, Jesus, and Victor; one daughter, Helen Angell; grandchildren; and longtime companion of 30 years, Ramon M. Perez. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, and son, Larry and daughter, Maria. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2002 at the funeral home Chapel at 1 p.m.

WILKES, Clyde, Sr., 48, of Tampa passed away November 12, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Sharon L. Wilkes; his son, Clyde W. Wilkes, Jr.; and two brothers, David J. Wilkes and Thomas M. Wilkes. Mr. Wilkes loved to hunt and fish. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, November 16, 2002, at the Garden of Memories Chapel, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, with interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Kelly, Dean Martin, Michael Gates, Kelvin Randall, Scott Rigsbee, and Ray Suggs. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

BASSANO, Anthony L., 78, of Port Richey, passed away on November 13, 2002 at his residence. Born in Little Ferry, N.J., he moved to Florida 23 years ago from Oakland, N.J. He was a retired pressman. He was a deacon and member of Community Congregational Church in New Port Richey. Mr. Bassano was a US Army veteran during World War II and a member of the VFW. He was a member of the U.C.C., Inc. and the Unite Organization. He is survived by his wife, Marie E.; one son, Anthony P. of Franklin, Tenn.; two daughters, Bonnie Lehing of Tarpon Springs and Terri Duncan of Petersburg, Tenn.; two sisters, Sue DeVincentis of Hackensack, N.J. and Rose Gessler of Pennsylvania ; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. National Cremation Society, New Port Richey, Florida.

CERNIGLIA, Anthony, 81, of New Port Richey, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002 at Community Hospital of New Port Richey. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to New Port Richey from Milwaukee in 1983. He was a stock room clerk for Murphy Diesel with 32 years of service; an Army Veteran of World War II; member St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of New Port Richey; member Knights of Columbus St. Thomas Council #11497 of New Port Richey; life member American Legion Post #79 and Chester McKay VFW Post #7978 of New Port Richey; and past president of Wisconsin Club, New Port Richey. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; three sons, John M. Cerniglia of Clarketon, Mich., Thomas R. Cerniglia of Franklin, Wis., and Richard A. Cerniglia of Clearwater, Fla.; three sisters, Providence Holzberger of Brookfield, Wis., Angeline Mudler of Waukesha, Wis., and Margaret Waehne of Webster, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002 from 2-4 p.m. at Dobies Funeral Home with a wake service at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Monday, Nov. 18, at 9 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

FLOHR, Caroline, 75, of New Port Richey, died Thursday, November 14, 2002 at her residence under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she moved here from Montvale, N.J. in 1992. She worked in customs security for the Pinkerton Agency at New York area airports. She was a member of Friends of Community Hospital in New Port Richey. Survivors include three sons, John J. Breen of St. Paul, Minn., Michael P. Breen of Valley Stream, N.Y. and Robert Flohr of Lutz; a daughter, Carol L. Hersey of Holiday; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be Saturday, November 16, 2002 from 12-4 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following at North Meadowlawn Funeral Home, New Port Richey, Fla., (727) 849-9281.

FLOWERS, James Walter, 82, of Dade City, died Thursday, November 14, 2002 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he moved to this area 27 years ago from Miami, Florida. He was a retired Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service and a member of the Zephyrhills Church of Christ. A Funeral service for Mr. Flowers will be held Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Oakley Funeral Home in Dade City with Jessie Alan Flowers and David Dann officiating. Interment will be on Monday in Friendship Gardens Cemetery in Shady Grove, Fla. Mr. Flowers is survived by his wife, Jennie of Dade City; three daughters, Patricia Flowers Gates of Dade City, Betty Flowers Wells of Brandon and Mary Flowers Dann of Athens, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Smith Flowers of Bowling Green, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, Carl Dann, Jr., James Dann and David Dann, Laura Flowers, Jenny Flowers Davis, Jesse Flowers and Rachel Flowers, Michael Wells and Timothy Wells, Nathan Gates and Daniel Gates; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Flowers is predeceased by a son, Jessie Edward Flowers.

RITZ, Jeff William, 25, of Holiday, passed away November 14, 2002 at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, Tarpon Springs. Born in Springfield, Mo., he came here 16 years ago from Quincy, Ill. He was employed as a Fork Lift Driver for the past nine years for Port Tarpon Marina, Tarpon Springs. He attended Calvary Chapel Worship Center in New Port Richey and was a graduate of Ridgewood High School in 1995. He is survived by his wife of four years, Erin M.; his parents, John and Karen Ritz; a sister, Susan Ritz, all of Port Richey; paternal grandfather, John Henry Ritz of Washta, Iowa; paternal grandmother, Beverly Ritz of Monticello, Minn.; brother-in-law, Geremiah Meissner of Tobyhanna, Pa.; sister-in-law, Shannon Meissner of New Port Richey; father-in-law, James Meissner of New Port Richey; mother-in-law, Mary Smith of New Port Richey; two nephews; one niece; and several cousins. ROTH, Helen A., 91, of New Port Richey, passed away on November 13, 2002 at Southern Pines Nursing Center in New Port Richey. Born in Vanling, Pa., she moved to Florida in 1995 from Elmira, N.Y. She was a retired assembler for Remington Rand Corporation in Elmira. She was a Catholic. She is survived by two sons, Jay Roth of New Port Richey and Gene Roth of Freemon, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. National Cremation Society, New Port Richey, Fla.

ALLEN, Kevin, of Tampa, died Nov. 9, 2002. He was a student at Middleton High School. He is survived by his mother and father, five brothers and three sisters.

Hitchins of Norfolk, Va. and Dorothy Williamson of Williamston, N.C; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She has resided in Tampa since 1966 coming from North Carolina. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. A Memorial service will be conducted 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2002 at the Stowers Brandon Chapel. She was a Protestant, a Hair Dresser, active in the local Korean community and a member of the American Cancer Society Ovarian Cancer Support Group. A native of Terre Haute, Ind., he has resided in the Tampa area since 1983 coming from Fort Wayne, Ind. He was a Hartline bus driver, a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Toastmaster International, Bachelors and Belles Dance Club, Tampa Bay Beach Boppers and was of the Methodist faith. A Memorial service will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday (today) at the Stowers Brandon Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Those who wish may make contributions to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center or American Cancer Association in his memory.
