WHITE, Ramona J., 64, of New Port Richey, Fla., passed away Mar. 10, 2003 at Tampa General Hospital. Born in Charlotte, Mich., she moved to our area in 1989 from Mulliken, Mich. She was a homemaker and a Protestant. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the N.C.O.A. #646, Port Richey, Fla. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert L. White, New Port Richey; three sons, Robert L. White and Terry E. White, both of Lansing, Mich., and Russell L. White of New Port Richey; two brothers, Ronald `Red` Adams of New Port Richey and John Adams of Charlotte, Mich.; and four grandchildren.

BARZSO, Margaret, age 75, of Tampa passed away Sunday March 9, 2003 at her residence. Margaret was a native of Hungary and moved to Tampa in 1972. She is of the Methodist Faith and was a retired seamstress. She was preceded in death by her daughter Maria Barzso Jackson. She is survived by her loving daughters Ildiko `Ildy` Gremer and husband James, Klara Urbanski and husband Paul; her brother Frank Kormondy and wife Nellie of Gulfport; grandchildren Amy Lynn Gremer and Paul Edward `P.E.` Urbanski. Margaret was and always will be dearly loved by her family. She loved God, her family and her garden, in that exact order. Our hearts will always miss her. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 14, 7 p.m. with a gathering of family and friends from 6 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

BAUR, Ida Lavelle, age 82, of Tampa passed away March 11, 2003. A native of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and resident of Tampa since 1968, Mrs. Baur was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Baur, Sr., parents, Richard and Ida Lavelle, sister, Jessie Reilly, brothers, Robert and Oliver Lavelle, and nephews, Robert and Johnny Lavelle. Survivors include her son, Thomas F. Baur, Jr. and wife Cindy; daughters, Patricia Mira and husband Roy, Diane Dyal and husband Jimmy, Kathleen and Candice Baur; special friend, Stephanie Golden; brothers, Walter Lavelle and Frank Lavelle and wife Arlene; niece, Dolores Opet; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Jean Baur, Frank and Rosalie Baur and John H. Baur; grandson, Kenneth Baur and numerous nephews and nieces. A Funeral Mass will be offered for the repose of her soul Friday morning at 10 o'clock at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 10110 N. Central Ave. Tampa, Fla., with Father Alfonso Pagliara, O.F.M. CAP officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1203 N. CHURCH, Betsy Marie Ross, 81, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003. She was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and was the daughter of Frederick and Emma Ross. She was preceded in death by her husband James H. Church and her only sister, Alice Turner. After graduating summa cum laude from Wooster College, she moved to Miami, Florida and later lived in Lakeland, Florida. She spent the last two years wi th her daughter Patti and son-in-law Steve in Thonotosassa. Betsy was a loving wife, mother and friend. She was active in her church, Girl Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, the League of Women Voters, and other volunteer organizations. Four daughters, Elizabeth Kinney of Clearwater, Fla., Barbara Sutton of Miami Lakes, Fla., Mary Alice Church-Steurer of Asheville, N.C., and Patricia Parker of Thonotosassa survive her. Surviving also are five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and a niece and nephew. A service celebrating her life will be held Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m. at Stowers Brandon Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lakeland Habitat for Humanity, 1317 George Jenkins Blvd., Lakeland, Florida 33815.

ELLIS, Juanita, 73, passed away March 11, 2003 in Brandon. Born in Thorpe, W.Va., she moved to this area in 1966. She was a Baptist and a secretary. She is survived by her sons, Tony Scotch and Danny Ellis; daughter, Barbara Hawkins; sister, Margaret Nori; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be March 15, 2003 at 9 a.m. with services to follow at 10 a.m., both at Hillsboro Memorial F.H. Donations to Tampa LifePath Hospice.

FELTON, Sandra `Sam`, of Lithia, passed away at Brandon Regional Hospital on March 11, 2003 suddenly and unexpectedly from a heart ailment. She was 41, born June 12, 1961 and grew up in rural Rosholt, Wis., with her parents David and Betsy Behnke. She leaves to mourn her husband, Douglas Felton and their son, Eric Felton, age 12, both of Lithia; her father, David Behnke, Sr. of Iola, Wis.; her brother, John Behnke and his wife Doreen of Green Bay, Wis.; her two sisters, Betty Bembenek and husband Brad of Iola, Wis., and Heidi Budzinski and husband Tom of Custer, Wis. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betsy Behnke Duberstein and brother, David Behnke, Jr. Other surviving family members are Nello and Virginia Felton, parents of Douglas Felton; Robert Felton, brother of Douglas of Manito, Ill.; also a host of nieces, nephews and very good friends in both Florida and Wisconsin. Sam and Doug were married on June 12, 1983 in the Lutheran Church of Rosholt, Wis. They lived in Oshkosh, Wis. until August 1984 when they moved to Florida. Sam attended the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh, and graduated with a degree in Special Education in 1983. Her goal was to teach handicapped children, which she did. While still in school she was employed part time caring for and teaching handicapped children at the Wisconsin State Lions Camp, Rosholt, Wis., and in a home for handicapped children in Oshkosh, Wis. In Florida she was employed as a Special Education teacher of severe/profound mentally handicapped children in the Hillsborough County School System. She loved her work and he r students. Recently she resigned her teaching position to work with her husband, Doug in their family owned business, Sunshine Window Fashions, Valrico, Fla. Sam and her family are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Brandon, Fla. where she was Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. Sam was well known for her faith in God, her sunny disposition, her friendly personality, her positive attitude and her skill in her profession. She was a caring, devoted and loving wife and mother and a friend of all who knew her. Funeral services will he conducted on Saturday, March 15 2003 at 10 a.m. from Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Brandon, Fla. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hopewell Memorial Gardens. The family would like to invite all those who wish, to come back to the church for lunch. FREED, Jerome `Jerry`, 74, passed away on March 8, 2003. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., August 4, 1928, he moved to Florida in 1946. He was a Mason and a Shriner, a loving husband, father and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; daughters, Debbie Ward, Marcie Freed-Williams and partner Karen, Arlene Freed-Vest, and Michelle Price and husband Tim; and granddaughters, Lindsey, Nikki, Katie, Erica, Taylor, and Emily. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to: Pasco-Hernando Hospice, Turkey Creek Masonic Lodge #248 and Eastern Star #327, or The Egypt Temple Transportation Fund. GIVENS, Elvera Hultquist, 90, died March 6, 2003 at her home under the care of Hospice. A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, she lived her early years in Lake Wales, Florida, later residing in the Tampa Bay area. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harold; two sons, Ronald White and wife, Patricia, Brooksville, Florida, and Thomas M. Givens and wife, Marianne, Alexandria, Virginia; one daughter, Gwen Givens of Tampa, Florida; three grandsons, Barry White, Tallahassee, Florida, Brian Givens and Kyle Givens, Alexandria, Virginia. A memorial service will be held on March 16, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at Forrest Hills United Methodist Church, Tampa. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to LifePath Hospice, 3010 West Azeele Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33609.

GUSTOS, Mary Jane, 61, of Palm Harbor died Tuesday, March 11, 2003. Survived by sisters, Theresa Gustos and Kathy Maude; nieces, Janet Sottile, Carole Fisher and Mary Adamusik.

HEISLER, Mary Aileen, 87, of Tampa, Fla. passed away on Monday, March 10, 2003 at the Lakeshore Villa Health Care Center. She is survived by her four sons, Lewis C. Moss, Kenneth L. Moss, Bernard A. Heisler, and John D. Heisler; two daughters, Esther Glass, Levitta Collins; 12 Grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mary was a member of Hillsborough Baptist Church and she attended Forest Hills United Methodist Church. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 10 a.m. at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Family will greet friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

JACKSON, Jennifer M., age 39, of Tampa passed March 7, 2003. She is survived by father, Bobby; children, Dionne and Keshonda and other relatives.

KOLON, John C., of Brandon, died Tuesday, Mar. 11, 2003, at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor. His daughter survives him: Faith; nieces, a nephew, and his brothers-in-law. LE, Hon Van, age 54, of Tampa passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2003. He was born in Viet Nam and came to Tampa in 1994. Mr. Le was of the Budhist Faith and worked at Lazzara Yachts. He is survived by his beloved wife Ngoc Hong Thi Nguyen; his son Phu Le and daughter Diem Le. Family will receive friends at Boza Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Ave., Thursday, March 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. with final Funeral Services at a later date.

MEWHINNEY, Gregg R., 46, died March 7, 2003, the result of a motor vehicle accident on March 5, 2003. Mr. Mewhinney was born in Fairview Park, Ohio, was raised in Cuyahoga Falls and had resided in Tampa, Fla. the past 17 years. He was a 1974 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University. As a Mechanical Engineer, he traveled throughout the United States and Canada, as well as Latin America and Europe for the Vincent Corporation of Tampa, Fla. He is survived by his father and step-mother, Richard C. and Mitzi Mewhinney of North Canton, Ohio; mother, June Lang of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Dr. Joyce (Michael) Eaker of Sacramento, Calif., Nancy Dunderman of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and Carolyn (Ron) Pastoria of Akron, Ohio; step-sister, Patricia (Robert) Hallissy of Weston, Fla.; step-brothers, Timothy (Mary Incontro) Stanceu of Arlington, Va. and James (Rosemary Flanagan) Stanceu of Fairlawn, Ohio; nieces, Stacy Dunderman, Christy Hallissy and Lindsay Stanceu and nephews, Todd and Sean Dunderman and Adam Stanceu. In addition to his family, Gregg is remembered by hundreds of friends and professional acquaintances from arou nd the country who knew him to be a trustworthy and loyal friend, as well as a devoted and tireless worker. Gregg was a voracious reader and was an ardent fan of the Tampa Bay professional sports teams as well as his Ohio State Buckeyes. In high school, he was a member of the school band and Gregg faithfully attended annual band reunions in Ohio. He relished the opportunity to engage in political discussions with his friends around the world, and travel, both domestic and international, fueled this interest. Whether he was hiking or running, biking or rollerblading, Gregg was thoroughly committed to physical fitness, and he exercised daily, whether he was out on the road traveling, or back home on his beloved Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa. All who knew Gregg will miss his uncanny ability to quickly analyze, clarify and solve any problem that was presented to him. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday. He was a lifelong resident of Tampa, World War II veteran, a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and retired from Tampa Electric Company. Shorty was a caring, loving, do anything for his family and friends, kind of guy. He loved to fish and hunt. Worried about the state of things all the time in his own way he provided many charitable acts to the people in his life from, mowing the yard of his neighbors that were unable, to taking people into his life and providing for them. `Dad, Daddy, Shorty, you will be greatly missed by all of the lives you have touched.` Your loving family and friends. PEEL, Donald R., 56, of Tampa, passed away March 11, 2003 at James A. Haley VA Hospital. He was a native of Tampa and was a US Army Vietnam veteran. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Jason; daughter, Angela Griffin; mother, Bernice Bell and husband; brothers, James and Ray; and sister, Patsy Raulerson. PETERS, Robert W. `Bob` Sr., 88, a lifetime resident of Tampa, passed away March 9, 2003. Survivors include his wife, Helen E. Peters; daughter, Jean Fusilier; son, Robert W. Peters Jr. and his wife, Paulette; four grandchildren: Robin Reily, Michael Peters, Erin Walker, and Holly Fusilier; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Peters was associated with the Tampa Tribune for 45 years. He was past master of High twelve Lodge #317 F.&A.M. and was an avid bowler at Florida Lanes with his top score at 705. Masonic graveside services will be conducted by the High Twelve Lodge #317 at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2003, in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends this morning from 9-10:00 a.m. at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Avenue. A native of Paw Paw, Ky, he has resided in the Tampa area since 1960 coming from Virginia.
