SCHELLER, Richard W., 78, of Sun City Center, Fla., died at home on March 10, 2003. He was born in Milwaukee, Wis. and moved to Florida in 1994. He is survived by his wife, Marion; son, Richard H. and wife Susan of Stanford, Calif.; grandchild, Heather O'Laughlin of Michigan City, Ind., and three sisters-in- law, Elaine Pandl of Milwaukee, Wis., Bernice Friedl of Sparta, Wis.,and Emily Scheller of Lincoln, Neb. and many additional family members and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara O'Laughlin and his parents, Frieda and William Scheller, brother William and brother-in- law, Jack Pandl. Mr. Scheller was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His career in medical and social services in Milwaukee County, Wis., spanned 28 years. He was instrumental in introducing high-tech medical research, development, and manufacturing to the Milwaukee County Medical Center Campus, including installation of the facility's first CAT scan and MRI instruments. He was recognized for his service as contract negotiator with the Medical College of Wisconsin, the Curative Rehabilitation Center, the Froedter t Memorial Lutheran Hospital and the Milwaukee Children's Hospital. In 1985 he became the Commandant of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wis., the largest skilled care nursing facility in the state. His career was always marked by a depth of compassion for the elderly, sick, injured, and disadvantaged. Dick Sheller's passion for birds was born in 1976 when he and Marion took a course on the na tural landscape. On one memorable morning, with binoculars in hand and a talented naturalist as their guide, the Schellers took a 4-hour journey that covered only about 12 feet but revealed a rich world of birds and nature. Over the next 25 years, the Schellers traveled to Spain, Costa Rica, the Galapagos, and many other regions to observe birds, plants, and nature. Dick Scheller is remembered by family and friends for his passion for life and tireless sense of humor. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 2839, Tampa, FL 33601.

SCHWARTZ, Harriet, 88, of Tampa, passed away March 8, 2003. She spent most of her life in Long Beach, N.Y. and West Palm Beach, Fla. She is survived by her sons, Barry and wife Linda; Alan and wife Candida; grandchildren: Marc, Stacy Conley and husband Randy, Eric; Laura and husband Thomas and Amanda; great-grandchildren Caitlyn and Jordan Conley. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her memory to Tampa JCC/ Federation or the charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 13 at 11 a.m. at Aston Gardens, Linebaugh Ave.

SINGLETON, Walter H., 64, lifetime Tampa resident, died March 6, 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert J. and Lena M. Singleton; brothers, Lawrence B., Paul J., Fred J., and Jimmy Singleton. He is survived by his wife Dian and daughter Patrice of Tampa; one brother, Herb A. Singleton and wife Claire, Marietta, Ga.; sisters, Claudia Greenwood of Tampa, Flora M. and husband D.V. Shaw, Sebring, Florida, numerous nieces and nephews. Private interment was held in Garden of Memories, with MacDonald Funeral Home handling the arrangements.

TRAINOR-David Michael, Jr., 37, native and lifelong resident of Tampa, passed away March 10, 2003. Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth; his parents, David and Tina; his sisters, Cindy and Denise; and his grandmother, Kathleen. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Msgr. Laurence E. Higgins, Pastor officiating. Above all else, David was devoted to the care and upbringing of his daughter, Elizabeth. David has worked at St. Joseph Hospital for the past nine years, and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children.

WATKINS, George M., Jr., M.D., 67, died on March 10, 2003, in Tampa, Fla. Dr. Watkins, a retired professor of surgery, devoted his career to academic medicine. He was born in Nashville, Tenn., and was a graduate of Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt School of Medicine. He completed his internship at UCLA and his surgical residency at Cornell Medical School-New York Hospital and the University of Cincinnati and was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Harvard University. Dr. Watkins served on the faculties of the departments of surgery at the Universities of Connecticut, South Florida, and Illinois-Peoria. Dr. Watkins was a founding member and past president of the American Trauma Society, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of numerous medical societies, including the American Burn Association and the Southern Surgical Society. In 1994 Dr. Watkins received the Distinguished Service Award of the American Trauma Society for his outstanding leadership. Dr. Watkins was a flight surgeon in the US Navy, based in the Mediterranean. He also served as a volunteer in a medical mission in Pakistan. Survivors include his wife Alison; daughter Laura and Greg Renoff of Waltham, Mass.; daughter Erica of Washington , D.C.; sister, Macalyne Fristoe of Lafayette, Ind.; and 15 nieces and nephews. Services will be held Saturday, March 15 at 4 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 15102 Amberly Drive, Tampa. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Trauma Society, 8903 Presidential Parkway, Suite 512, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772.

CIRAN, Stefan, 98, of Bayonet Point, Fla., passed away at his residence, Wednesday, March 12, 2003. Born in Brezova Podbradlom, Czechoslovakia, he moved to Florida in 1973 from Chicago, Illinois. He owned and operated the Lincoln Poultry Store in Chicago, Illinois for many years. He also served in the Czechoslovakian Air Force and was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church, Port Richey. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins in the United States and Slovakia. Visitation will be on Monday, March 17, 2003 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Bell Funeral Home, 7532 State Road 52, Hudson, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral chapel with Pastor George Metzenthin officiating. Burial will be at Grace Memorial Gardens, Hudson.

COCHRAN, Timothy A. `Tim`, 46, of Hudson, Fla., died Wednesday Mar.12, 2003. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and moved to Hudson in 1985. He was active as a social worker for the Department of Children and Families, New Port Richey (16 years of service), and a Lutheran. Survivors include wife, Virginia L. `Lynn` Cochran of Hudson; parents, Rev. Edwin and Jane Cochran, Hudson; brother, Christopher Cochran of Charlotte, N.C.; and sister, Victoria A. Brust of Philadelphia, Pa. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Dobies Funeral Home and 12 Noon until service beings at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Sanctuary of the Nativity Lutheran Church, 6363 Commercial Way, Weeki Wachee.

COLAER, Benjamin L., 95, of Holiday, died Mar. 13, 2003. Born in Stamford, Conn. he moved here 41 years ago from Southbury, Conn. He was a caregiver for the State of Connecticut, past president of AF of L CIO Caregivers Union, and Jewish. He is survived by two daughters, JoAnn Colaer Raney of Port Richey and Elizabeth Casey Carbunneam of Hartford, Conn; and seven grandchildren.

GARNER, Shirley Elizabeth Wells, 67, of New Port Richey, died Mar. 12, 2003. She was born in Pearson, Ga., and moved here nine years ago from Lithia Springs, Ga. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Doyle Garner; two daughters, Elizabeth Henson of Tampa and Laura Garner of Douglasville, Ga.; one son, Mark Garner of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Becky Lenge of Kansas City, Mo., Wanda May of Pelham, Ga., Linda Smith of Pearson, Ga., and Ernestine Tomberlin of Cairo, Ga.; three brothers, Lavon, Thomas and Fred Wells of Pearson Ga.; and three grandchildren.

HISSEY-BRATTON, Eadie M., 69, of Port Richey, died Tuesday, Mar. 11, 2003. She was born in Blue Ridge, Ga., and moved to Port Richey from Hiram, Ga. in 1980. She was a CNA at a nursing home. She was a Cherokee Indian. Survivors include her husband, Jim Bratton of Port Richey; two sons, William Bowlee and Arthur Tyler of Hudson, Fla.; three daughters, Arlene Sipple of New Port Richey, Carla Wrinkle and Eadie Ramirez, both of Port Richey; two brothers, Charlie Holden and Floyd Holden, both of Georgia; one sister, Flora Postell of Georgia; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Dobies Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at New Beginnings Rock Church, Hudson.

HUFFMAN, Jerry Kaywood, Col. USAF (Ret.), 53, of Holiday, Fla., died Tuesday, Mar. 11, 2003. He was born in Louisville, Ky., and moved to Holiday from England in 1996. He was a 22 year veteran of the Air Force, served in Vietnam, and a Protestant. He is survived by his wife, Joy D. Huffman.

LAMB, Hubert Jeffrey Jr. `Jeff`, 55, of Bushnell, Fla., formerly of Dade City, died Monday, Mar. 10, 2003. He was born in Hendersonville, N.C., and moved to Bushnell from Brooksville in 1989. He grew up in Dade City. He was a retired manager of radio stations, most recently 97.5 WPCV in Lakeland and Winter Haven. He was a veteran of the Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Sandra K. Lamb; one son, Jeffrey Ryan Lamb of Bushnell; one daughter, Sandra K. Lamb-Samson of Brooksville; his mother, Wilma Norton-Lamb of Dade City; two sisters, Jackie Sapp of Dade City, and Judy Butler of Birmingham, Ala.; and two grandchildren. Thomas B. MARSZALEK, Stefan, 78, of New Port Richey, died on Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at Morton Plant North Bay Hospital. Born in Poland, he came here 16 years ago from Queens, N.Y. He was a supervisor for the steel industry. Mr. Marszalek served in the Polish Army after Occupation, was a member of the Polish American Pulaski Association, Port Richey, Meadow Oaks Golf Club, and a Catholic. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ana; one son, Steve of Dallas, Texas ; one daughter, Sophia C. Kaczmarski, L.I., N.Y.; and three grandchildren.

McLEOD, Thomas Lawson, 50, of Wesley Chapel, passed away March 12, 2003 in Wesley Chapel. He is survived by his wife, Kathy McLeod of Wesley Chapel; daughter, Kimberly (Jason) Shipley of Zephyrhills; two sons, Tommy (Laura) McLeod Jr. of Plant City and Stephen (Chantil) McLeod of Zephyrhills; and four grandchildren, Laurren, Madison, Aubrey and Melody, all of Zephyrhills; brother, William McLeod Jr. of Dade City; and a sister, Deborah Johnston of Zephyrhills. He was predeceased by a brother, Mark McLeod. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at the First Baptist Church of Zephyrhills, with Rev. Randall Belcher and Rev. Steve Odom officiating. Interment will follow at Oakside Cemetery in Zephyrhills. Born May 27, 1952 in Tampa, to William F. and Carrie (Thomas) McLeod, he came to Wesley Chapel in 1975 from Tampa. He worked as a pipefitter/welder, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Zephyrhills.

SHEEHAN, Francis, age 82, of Zephyrhills, Fla., died Tuesday, March 11, 2003 in Dade City, Fla. Born in Patton, Pa., he had served in World War II in the U.S. Army, and had lived in Zephyrhills for over 31 years. He is survived by his loving wife Lucy; sons, Stuart of East Millstone, N.J., Dale of Jackson, N.J., Kevin of Olongapo City, Philippines, and Frank of Amarillo, Texas ; daughter, Melissa Kaminski of Stuart, Fla.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Friday March 14, at Oakley FuneraL Home in Dade City, Florida. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery. The family requests that donations may be made to the Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center.

STOWELL, Harry R., 82, of Zephyrhills, died Saturday, March 8, 2003. He was born in France and raised in the United States. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and went on to retire a Lieutenant Colonel with the U.S. Air Force as a pilot. He served during World War II and was a test pilot for many years. Locally, he was active in many Pasco County organizations throughout the years. Survivors include several nieces and nephews including Arthur Stowell of Zephyrhills and Robert Stowell of Minnesota. A Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2003 at Oakside Cemetery in Zephyrhills.

THOMAS, Joan E., 68, of Port Richey, died Mar. 9, 2003. Born in Windsor Ontario, Canada, she came here nine years ago from Lafayette, Ind. She was a Registered Nurse with Indiana State Board of Health and a Lutheran. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; one son, David Thomas; three daughters, Deanne Wilson, Marjorie Hitze and Jill Smith, all of Lafayette, Ind.; one brother, Fred Hall of Windsor, Canada; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2003 at the Tippicanoe Mobile Home Park Clubhouse. Born April 3, 1926 in Ashippun, Wisconsin to Edward and Evelyn (Thompson) Thompson, he came to the Zephyrhills area in 1991 from Wisconsin. He was a veteran of the Army in World War II serving in the 101st Airborne Division, and served in Company E 325th Glider Infantry Regiment. He was a 16 year member of the American Legion, and a Lutheran. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 7066 Fort King Road, Zephyrhills, FL 33540.

WITZELL, Charles E. Jr., age 89, of New Port Richey, passed away March 12, 2003 at Parris House ALF, New Port Richey. He was born in New York City and came to this area in 1990 from New York. He was an accountant and a motel manager. He was a Christian and served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He is survived by his brother, William Witzell of New Port Richey.

Mrs. Alechiderre was preceded in death by her husband Fernando Alechiderre, daughter, Alicia Fernandez and son, Alberto Rocamora Sr. Survivors include her sons, Gerardo Rocamora and wife Gloria, and Tony Rocamora; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A native of Matauzas, Cuba and resident of Tampa for 25 years, coming from New York, Mr. Barcena is survived by his mother, Daisy Perez; brothers, Rey and Jose Perez; daughters, Monique Barcenas Carvajal and Daisy Barcenas; son, Rodolfo `Jay` Martinez Barcenas, Jr.; loving companion, Lisa Slauth and granddaughters, Brianna and Cathy Morales and Lisa Marie. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the chapel of GONZALEZ FUNERAL HOME

BEATY, Herman E., 89, of Pinellas Park, died March 11, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret T. Beaty; one son, Ed Beaty of Cayman Brac, B.W.I.; two daughters, Catherine Wignall of Lutz, Fla. and Dyann W. Beaty of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Lawrence Beaty of Pinellas Park, Fla.; and two grandchildren Lee Beaty and Noel Peltier. He was a native of Tampa and a life long resident of the Tampa Bay area. He was an avid sailor and a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club for 53 years.
