BEERY, Helen Ann Boduch, age 81, resident of Tampa, passed away March 18, 2003. She is survived by her three children, Anne Carlson of St. Petersburg, Elaine Beery of Brooklyn, New York and Paul Beery of Tampa, Florida; four grandchildren, and a sister, Steffie Prybycien of Westfield, Mass. Born in Chicopee Falls, Mass. on September 28, 1921, Helen moved to Tampa in 1945 after her marriage to Theodore Beery who preceded her in death last year. She was a graduate of Chicopee High School, in Chicopee, Mass. and Bay Path Institute in Springfield, Mass. Helen was also a charter member of the Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be Friday, March 21, 2003 at 11 a.m. in Florida National Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, March 20, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

BENNETT, Theodore A., 66, of Tampa, passed away March 18, 2003. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Florence Bennett; his children, Anthony Bennett (Julie), Janet North (Christopher), Sheila Feliciano (Rafael) Patrick Bennett (Windy); eight grandchildren, Beau, Allison, Stephanie, Ryan, Joshua, Mindy, Sabrina, and Mariesa. Mr. Bennett served in the Air Force for four years and was a Production Scheduler for Anchor Glass Container Corp. for 41 years. He loved fishing, golfing, John Wayne movies, and an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. Funeral services will be held at the Garden of Memories Chapel, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2003. Interment will follow in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank LifePath Hospice Bronze Team.

BROWNELL, Stephen Burr, of Brandon, Fla., died Tuesday, March 18, 2003. Mr. Brownell was born in Newport, R.I., the eldest son of Henry W. Brownell, M.D. and Sally J. Brownell. He is survived by his parents; his beloved wife of 38 years, Kathleen; three loving daughters, Rebecca Keller and partner Carol Yeater, Deborah Lemelin and husband Russell, and Sarah Brownell-Pusey and husband Ryan; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Patrick Lemelin; one sister and four brothers with their spouses and children. Mr. Brownell graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and from Stanford University. He then served in the U.S. Navy's Civil Engineer Corp. While in the Navy stationed in the Philippines, he supervised initial construction work for the Pacific War Memorial located on Corregidor. After leaving the Navy, he worked for several firms monitoring construction activity prior to co-founding Brownell & Henderson, a local real estate development and general contracting firm, where he worked 17 years. He then founded his own company, Brownell Construction Co., Inc. where he continued commercial construction until his retirement in 2002. Mr. Brownell was an avid sailor all his life, and a twe nty-year member of Tampa Sailing Squadron, Apollo Beach, where he both fully participated in all activities and twice served very ably as Commodore. His dedication to sailing and his strong organization skills greatly enhanced the Squadron's growth and stature in the local sailing community. The Squadron has dedicated the Commodore's Cup Race to his memory. A memorial service will be conducted 10 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2003 at the Stowers Brandon Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please prayerfully consider donations to either the `Pearl Team` from LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. CAGNINA, Mary, 92, of Tampa passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Cagnina and is survived by her brother, Tom Sciortino of Tampa; and three great-nephews, Joe Conte, Carl Conte and Tommy Cagnina all of Tampa. Mrs. Cagnina was a lifelong Tampa resident and had worked in Tampa's cigar industry. Funeral services will be private.

FIEDLER, Robert H., 67, of Tampa went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, March 15, 2003. Born in Mankato, Minn., he had lived in Tampa for 51 years. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Elsie M. and Robert R. Fiedler. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ima Jean `Jeannie` son, Tracy Scot Fiedler and wife Patti, and granddaughter, Amber of Pinellas Park, Fla.; stepson, Robert Tillman of Springfield, Va.; brother, Thomas Fiedler and wife Shelby of Tampa; sisters, Barbara Gifford of Hempstead, Texas , Shari Moore and husband Frank of Plant City, Beth McDonald and husband Mike of Odessa; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, very special friends and neighbors, and a skilled and dedicated team of doctors, Dr. Jose A. Sanchez, Dr. Hernan Giraldo and Dr. Carlos Marinelli. He served with pride in the Korean Conflict, and spent most of his life in the window business in Tampa. A Memorial service will be held at the East Chelsea Baptist Church on March 30, 2003 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Raymond James officiating. Fields; two sons, Christopher C. Jackson of Tampa, Fla. and Shywan Fields of Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Alicia A. Rogers of Wesley Chapel, Fla. and Stephany Adamski of Tampa, Fla.; mother, Orvilla Fletcher; brother, Donald L. Fletcher of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters, Arlene Gibson (twin sister) of Lithia, Fla., Janice Richardson of Tampa, Fla. and Jeane Linger of Johnstown, Colo.; nine grandchildren. A native of Canon City, Colo she moved to the Tampa area 40 years ago coming from Denver, Colo. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2003 at Stowers Brandon Chapel. The family will receive friends Thursday (today), March 20, 2003 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

FORD, William `Bill` Darrell, age 71, passed away Monday, March 17, 2003. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 21, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Stephenson Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. David Conrad officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 20, 2003 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Ford was a Pharmacist, member of the Bethany Baptist Church, member of the Masonic Lodge, and had been a resident at Avon Park since 1991 coming from Schererville, Indiana . He is survived by his wife, Janet Ford of Avon Park, Florida; daughter, Martha Jane Fry at Tampa, Florida; sons, John `Mike` Ford of Minneapolis, Minnesota and William Dale Ford of Eslov, Sweden; six grandchildren. GONZALEZ, Stephen Mark, 48, of Tampa, passed away Monday, March 17, 2003. He worked for the Hillsborough County School System and retired after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul H. Gonzalez. He is survived by his three children, Sean Swafford, Stephen, Jr., and Megan Gonzalez; his step-daughter and husband, Yecenia and Richard Cox; his mother, Helen Eckart; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul E. and Gaynell Gonzalez; his sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Larry Gruber; his nephew and wife, Paul A. and Kristen Gonzalez; his godmother, Hilda Bertolino; his special friend and cousin, Billy Eckart. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the Glass Funeral Home Chapel. A native of Tampa, Fla., he came to the local area in 1985 from Heidelberg, Germany and was a automobile salesman for Ferman Chevrolet in Tampa, Fla. Preceded in death by his brother Carl Hutchinson in 2002; he is survived by his son, Jason Hutchinson of Heidelberg, Germany; and two brothers, Walter Eason Hutchinson of Tampa, Florida and Alan Hutchinson of Lakeland, Fla.

Originally from Bingham, N.Y., she worked for several years as a waitress for Hooters, stared in a local car dealership commercial and was the owner of her own shop, Donita's Consignment, in honor of her mother. She was a loving daughter, sister and friend. She is preceded in death by her mother, Rita Silvia; and survived by her father, Donald; brothers, Randi and wife Jessica, and Ricky and wife Deborah; sister, Rita Ann Sveum and husband Rob; and long-time companion, Richard Reynolds. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Renee's name to the American Cancer Society.

LAYER, Lionel Lee, 70, of Seffner died Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at his residence. Mr. Layer was a retired electrician with the local union IBEW 915. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Layer is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, June Layer; four daughters, Linda Guthrie and Billy, Vicky Lanier and fiancee Scott Hudson, Rhonda Spradlin and Denis, and Debbie Lasher and Dan. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Rachel Suchy, Michael and Brendan McGrath, Heather, Shannon, and Shelby Guthrie, Michelle Sims, Lauren Lanier, Erica, Jackie and Kelsi Spradlin, Danny and Sarah Lasher; and three great-grandchildren, Drew and Sydney Sims, and Zachary Suchy; one brother Everett Layer and Gillea, one sister Ellen Sell and Vic and sister-in-law Joyce Layer. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ernie Layer and his parents, Grover and Beulah Layer. A funeral service will be held at the Garden of Memories Chapel, 4207 East Lake Avenue, on Friday, March 21, 2003 at 12 Noon with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

She is a member of International Independent Showmen's Association. She is survived by her lifelong companion, Terrence Border; sons, Anthony Cottrell of Shasta Lake, Calif. and Peter Cottrell of LaCanto, Fla.; daughter, Shannon Lunan; two brothers, four sisters and four grandchildren. McCLEW, Malcolm `Mac` Herbert, 84, died March 16, 2003, at South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center, Fla. Born in New Brighton, Pa. in 1919, he was the son of Malcolm Herbert and Ruth Schuler McClew. He married Eleanor Jane Hanford, March 19, 1942, at Emmanuel Methodist Church in Lockport, N.Y. and served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater from 1942 through 1945. He resided with his family in Newfane, N.Y., where he was employed as a sales engineer for 39 years at Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors Corporation. During this time he was active in the Newfane Methodist Church, Boy Scouts of America, and the Newfane Masonic Lodge. After retiring to Sun City in 1979, he was an active member of the United Community Church, Sun City General Motors Alumni Association and Sun City Lawn Bowling Club. He volunteered at South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center Security Patrol and the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Eleanor; and loving and devoted children, Douglas McClew (Cathey) of Monroe, N.C., Cindy McClew Johnson (Scott) of Virginia Beach, Va., and David McClew (Sheila) of Columbus, Ohio; three wonderful grandchildren, Mason McClew, Melanie McClew and Perry Harwell McClew; and a great grandson, Douglas Harwell McClew. Also surviving are two sisters, Betty Gordon of Knoxville, Tenn., and Barbara Ansteth (Robert) of Las Vegas, Nev.; and brother, Robert McClew (Sue) of Madison, Ind.; as well as their families. He was well known for his many artistic talents, sense of humor and the ability to make people laugh. In lieu of sending flowers, make someone smile or laugh with Mac in your thoughts.
