Johnny Baxley of Marianna, 65, died early Friday morning, April 25, 2003, at the Bay Medical Center in Panama City.

He was a resident of Jackson County most of his life. As a child, he grew up in Kynesville and moved to Marianna where he owned and operated Marianna Fence Company for 31 years. Prior to his starting his business, he made many friends as he worked for the Dozier Boys School, West Florida Equipment and Daffin Mercantile. As he neared retirement, he enjoyed working as an assistant funeral director for Marianna Chapel Funeral Home and the Williams Funeral Home of Graceville.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby McGee and brothers W.C. Baxley, Wayne Baxley and Junior Baxley.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Marie Baxley of Marianna; four children, Billy Baxley and his wife, Janet, of Marianna, Jimmy Baxley and his wife, Cathy, of Marianna, Barbara Kent and her husband, David, of Columbus, Ga., Johnny Wayne Baxley and his wife, Gale, of Marianna; his grandchildren: Emily, Austin, Jennifer, Jeffery, Michael and Crystal Baxley, and Ted Burdeshaw, Marc, John and Danny Kent; one great-grandson, Cole Burdeshaw; four brothers, Ed Baxley of Kynesville, Cecil Baxley of Arley, Ala., Sherman Baxley of Grand Ridge, and Hosea Baxley of Crawfordville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, in the New Salem Baptist Church on the Knyesville Highway with Pastors Damon Fountain and Donnie Hussey officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memory Gardens with Williams Funeral Home directing. His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 27, in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted or contributions may be made to the New Salem Baptist Church, 3478 Kynesville Road, Marianna, Fla. 32448

Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Douglas Gene Schultz, 42, of Greenwood died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Jackson Hospital.

He was a native of Hartford City, Ind., and had lived in Greenwood for the past 11 years. He served in the U.S. Marines, he was a machine programmer and of the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include: his wife, Joyce Schultz of Greenwood; one son, Douglas Gene Schultz Jr. of Denver, Colo.; one step-son, James (Jimmy) Heiter of Greenwood; two daughters, Lenora Schultz of Greenwood and Kristal Schultz of Clearwater; two brothers, Fred Schultz of Springhill and Paul Schultz of St. Augustine; three sisters, Sharon Schultz of Munice, Ind., Shirley Hunt of Hudson, Debra Walker of Hartford City, Ind.; a very special niece, Rosa Henderson of Indianapolis, Ind.; a very special nephew, Bud Henderson of Muncie, Ind.; and several other nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 29, at 10 a.m. CDT at Maddox Chapel with Rev. Glen Watson officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation. James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel is directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Viola Caroline Gibson Green, 51, of 2661 Salem Church Road, Sneads, died Friday, April 25, 2003, at her residence following a sudden illness.

She was a registered nurse and a member of the Pentecostal faith. She was a lifetime resident of Sneads.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby May Dawson Gibson.

She is survived by: her father, William Elias Gibson; two sons, Richard A. Johnson of, Headland, Ala., and Bryan K. Johnson of Sneads; one daughter, Angela C. Waterson of Sneads; three brothers, William E. and wife Shirley Gibson of Lake Butler, Rodney R. Gibson of Grand Ridge, and Gary A. and wife Stacy Gibson of Sneads; and grandchildren Christopher Johnson of Mobile, Ala., and Sierra Johnson of Grand Ridge.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Faith Haven Assembly of God Church in Grand Ridge with the Rev. Jeffery Dubose officiating. Burial will be in Dykes Cemetery with Lord Funeral Home of Marianna directing.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at the Faith Haven Assembly of God Church.

William Stob of Graceville died Saturday afternoon, April 26, 2003, at his residence. Arrangements will be announced by James and Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville

Shellie B. Hatcher, 67, of Dellwood died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Jackson Hospital in Marianna.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Dellwood, retired from Florida State Hospital after more than 22 years of service. He was a member of Cypress Grove Assembly of God Church. He loved farming, good gospel bluegrass music and his fish fry's and all his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howell and Ealier Hatcher, a daughter Ealier Loney Hatcher, and two sons, Lloyd Howell Hatcher and Shellie Bruce Hatcher Jr.

He is survived by his son, Mike Hatcher and his wife, Renee of Dellwood; his daughter, Sheila Smith and her husband, Larry of Crestview; brothers, Charles H. Hatcher and his wife, Lillian, William H. Hatcher and his wife, Barbara, and Millard Hatcher and his wife, Emalene, all of Grand Ridge; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. CDT Saturday, May 31, at Cypress Grove Assembly of God Church with the Revs. James Barwick and Ray Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, Friday, at Cypress Grove Assembly of God Church.

William Kenneth Burch, 59, of Grand Ridge died Thursday, May 29, 2003, in Marianna.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, retired from Florida State Hospital as a psychiatric aide after 16 years of service. He was a member of Sneads Assembly of God Church where he had served as Sunday school superintendent for 16 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ruby Burch, and his brother, Jerome Burch.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice H. Burch of Grand Ridge; three daughters, Angie Brogniez and her husband, Mike of Crestview, Gina Ballard and her husband, Tim of Grand Ridge, and Katrina Nobles and her husband, Brad of Marianna; two step-sons, Leslie Hand and his wife, Brenda of Sneads and Lester Hand and his wife, Katie of St. Louis, Mo.; two step-daughters, Martha Barfield and her husband, Steve, and Marie Hand, all of West Palm Beach; his mother, Jessie Lee Burch of Grand Ridge; two brothers, John Marvin Burch and his wife, Geneva of Chattahoochee and Lafayette Burch and his wife, Gwen of Grand Ridge; one sister, Virginia Blount and her husband, James of Grand Ridge; and 14 grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. CDT Saturday, May 31, at Sneads First Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Juno Douglas and Jerry Trotter officiating. Burial will be in Carpenter Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. CDT today, Friday, at Maddox Chapel.

Services for Pearl "Evelyn" Hatcher, 84, of Marianna, who died Monday, June 2, 2003, in the Jackson Hospital, will be held today, Wednesday, June 4, in the Cypress Grove Assembly of God Church at 2 p.m. with Pastors Ray Johnson and Johnny Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She will lie at the church one hour prior to the service.

Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Jessie Lee Burch

Mrs. Jessie Lee Burch, 88, of Grand Ridge, went to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, with her family by her side.

She was born Aug. 11, 1919, in Calhoun County, where she was one of 17 children. Mrs. Burch was a faithful member of the Grand Ridge Baptist Church and retired from Florida State Hospital as a psychiatric aide.

Mrs. Burch was preceded in death by her husband, Ruby Burch; two sons, Ruby Jerome Burch and William Kenneth Burch.

Survivors include her daughter, Virginia Burch Blount and husband James of Grand Ridge; two sons, John Marvin Burch and wife Geneva of Chattahoochee, and Benjamin Layfette Burch and wife Gwen of Grand Ridge; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; three sisters, Juanita Johnson of Winter Haven, Addie Lee Hiers of Blountstown, and Flora Strand of Lakeland; and one brother, Wade Goodman of Blountstown.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., today, Sept. 11, at the Grand Ridge Baptist Church, with the Revs. Juno Douglas, Michael Fox and Darrell Sammons officiating. Interment will follow in Cypress Cemetery, with James and Sikes Funeral Home - Maddox Chapel directing.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10, at Maddox Chapel.

Flowers will be accepted, or contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee.

Lora A. Barfield

Mrs. Lora A. Barfield, age 79, of Bristol, passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at Blountstown Health and Rehab Center in Blountstown.

Mrs. Barfield was born on Jan. 5, 1928, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and had lived in Bristol for the past several years. Lora was a retired school teacher, teaching in Polk and Liberty county schools. She was a licensed ordained minister and was a member of the Bristol Church of God in Bristol.

Survivors include one son, Jay Barfield of Bristol; one daughter, Denise Johnson of Bristol; one sister, Flora Cato and her husband, Emory of Little Rock, Ark.; four grandchildren, Teresa Dwiggins of Blountstown, Christopher Bridges of Blountstown, Andy Johnson of Bristol, and Hali Barfield of Bristol; and two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Mason Dwiggins of Blountstown. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m. EDT, at the Peavy Funeral Home Chapel in Blountstown, with Pastor Mildred Barfield officiating. Interment will follow in the Lake Mystic Cemetery in Bristol.

The family will receive friends today, Sept. 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. EDT, at Peavy Funeral Home.

All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.

Julia Mae Daniels, 85, a homemaker of the Hardaway community died Monday, June 2, 2003, in Quincy.

She is survived by a daughter, Vina Edenfield of the Hardaway community; two sons, George A. Goodwin of Greensboro and Charles Goodwin of Crawfordville; three grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. EDT (2 p.m. CDT) today, Wednesday, June 4, at Shady Grove Cemetery in the Shady Grove Community in Jackson County.

Kathy May, 46, died at Jackson County Hospital on Monday, June 2, 2003, following a sudden illness.

She was a member of the Protestant faith and was a native of Bethesda, Md.

She is survived by two brothers, Richard May of Orange Park and Marshall May of Texas ; two sisters, Barbara May of Ft. Worth, Texas and Karen May of Texas ; and a host of friends.

The funeral will be held Friday, June 6, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the chapel at the Sunland Training Center. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Lord Funeral Home of Marianna directing.

Joseph Mathew Dalton, 7, was born January 11, 1996 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Ala.

He was the third child of four born to Robin Iris Dalton. An angel came upon him and tapped him on his little shoulder and said, "Come to me Joseph."

Cherished memories will help the healing process to begin for our son, our sisters, our brothers, all of our cousins and friends. He leaves behind his mother, Robin Iris Dalton of Marianna; his father, Robert Earl Kimble of Dothan, Ala.; his two brothers, Luke Aaron Dalton and William Robbie Dozier, and his little sister, Hannah Gabriel Kimble, all of Marianna; one step-sister, Kayla Kimble of Dothan, Ala.; two uncles, John Dalton of Marianna and Ronald Franklin Dalton of West Palm Beach; an aunt, Elizabeth Dalton Paronette of Ocala; a loving grandmother, Evelyn Baker of Marianna; a devoted friend, Mrs. Jeffifer Reed; and a host of cousins, friends and family.

I love you so much Joseph Mathew. We will miss you and will always, always love you.

The funeral will be held Thursday, June 5, at 11 a.m. at Lord Funeral Home Chapel at 3449 Caverns Rd. in Marianna with the Rev. Brandon Friffin officiating. Burial will be in Lippord Cemetery.

Lottie Alday Standland, 72, of Bascom died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, in Jackson Hospital.

She was born in Donalsonville, Ga. and later moved to Bascom in 1957. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Bascom First Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Steve Allen Standland of Bascom, Roger Dale Standland of Lynn Haven and Gary T. Standland of Bascom; two brothers, Bill Alday of Marianna and Marvin Earl Alday of Sylvester, Ga.; two sisters, Mary Lee Chandler of Donalsonville, Ga. and Ruby Fitzgerald of Moultrie, Ga.; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. CDT at First Baptist Church of Bascom with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Greg Roberts officiating. James and Sikes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel will direct.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. CDT today, Wednesday, June 4, at the funeral home.

Elynor M. Kindig, 93, of Marianna died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Jackson Hospital in Marianna.

She was a native of Charleston, S.C. She moved from Camilla, Ga. to Graceville in 1947, then to Marianna in 1978. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Marianna. She was a member of AARP. She worked for Goldkist Peanuts for a number of years.

She is survived by one son, Homer F. (Butch) Kindig Jr. and his wife, Diane of Graceville; one daughter, Elynor Jarvis Rooks and her husband, Buddy of Marianna; one sister, Kathleen Beard of Columbia, S.C.; one niece, Mrs. M.D. Beaver of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at Magnolia Cemetery in Evergreen, Ala. with the Rev. Shelton Kindig officiating. James and Sikes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel will direct.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. CDT today, Wednesday, June 4, at the funeral home.

The family requests flowers be omitted and those wishing may make memorial contributions to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 4362 Lafayette St., Marianna, FL 32446.
