GERARDO, Robert A., 76, of Lutz, Fla. passed away Sunday, March 23, 2003, at James Haley Veterans Administration Hospital. He was born in Bronx, New York. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a restauranteur and a Catholic. He was Vice Mayor of North Miami Beach, Commissioner for many years, past president of Kiwanis Club, Italian Man Of The Year, founder of Here's Help for Drug Addicted Children. He is survived by his wife, Madeline of Lutz, FL; five sons, Gregory, Bernard, Anthony, Paul, Joey; two daughters, Sheryl, Sandra; one brother, Joseph Gerardo of Leesburg, FL; and five grandchildren. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.

GLADUE, Patrick Matthew, died Mar. 6, 2003. A long time Tampa resident and long time employee of the Colonnade Restaurant, he graduated from Tampa Catholic High School. He is survived by his partner, Gary Phillips; his brothers, Peter and Paul; sister-in-law, Diane; brother-in-law, Keith; nephews, Matthew and Mark and niece, Carrie. A celebration of his life will be shared on March 29, 2003 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Patricks Church, 4522 S. Manhattan Ave. All family, friends, co-workers and neighbors are invited to attend.

GREENE, Sandra Lee Martin, of Tampa, passed away March 21, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Stephen Greene; mother, Helen Martin; sisters, Mildred Higgins, Marcia Marks, Gloria Jean Jarorgensen, and Michele Bergkamp; brothers, James T. Martin and Steve C. Martin; and niece, Leslie Martin Woodbridge. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Garden of Memories Chapel on Saturday, March 29, 2003. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

GUDINO, Jorge, 57, of Tampa, died March 18, 2003. He is survived by wife, Elena; son, Jorge; daughters, Nora and Karem Gudino, and Ysenia Rivera; two brothers; three sisters.

HENDERSON, Barbara C., 71, of Tampa, passed away March 24, 2003. She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Wayne Edenfield; and is survived by her son, James Alan Edenfield; daughters, Katherine Ann Hall and her husband Bo, Debra Allen and her husband Ron; grandchildren, Steve Edenfiled and James Hall; and great-grandson, Logan Edenfield. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2003, at the Garden of Memories Chapel. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday one hour prior to the service.

HOMAN, Irene Marie, 85, of Coldwater, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2003. Survivors include, Donald, Kenneth, Timothy and Daniel Homan, Rita Shrack and Mary Homan, August Dues, Jr., Lou Ann Timmerman; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

JONES, Annie Mae McLeod, 95, of Tampa passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2003. She is survived her children: Horace Jones of Tampa, Joyce Perry and husband Bill of Brooksville, Helen Maxwell and husband Lucien of Oxnard, Calif., James Jones of Clearwater, and Peggy Ryals and husband Bo of Brandon; sister, Myrtice Hensen of Ga.; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was a loving Christian mother and dedicated prayer warrior all her years serving her savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Tampa First Assembly of God. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 28, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Tampa First Assembly of God, Orient Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

LEON, Clyde, 92, of Tampa, Florida passed away on March 25, 2003. Mrs. Leon is preceded in death by her husband Louis `Tito` Leon; and is survived by her daughter, Frances L. McGuire and her husband Richard; and grandchildren, Richard and Catherine. She was a selector at Hava-a-Tampa Cigar Factory and a charter member of Hillsdale Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave., at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

MANNING, Leonard O., 85, forty year resident of Tampa, and former resident of Ponce DeLeon, Florida, died March 26, 2003 at home. Survived by his wife Hazel (Hudson) Manning; a daughter Susan Annette (Manning) Houtchen and her husband Roscoe; a granddaughter, Olga Houtchen of Tampa, Florida; a brother, Joe Manning of Ponce DeLeon, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Manning retired from Cone Brothers, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a photo lab technician at Ft. Benning, Ga. He was a member of Bethel Tabernacle, Tampa. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday March 28, 2003 at New Ponce DeLeon Cemetery, Ponce DeLeon, Fla. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday March 27, 2003 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Life Church of God, 7209 N. Manhattan Ave., Tampa, FL 33614 or LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa, FL 33609.

McQUAIN, Jr., Stanley M., 73, of Tampa, died Mar. 24, 2003. He is survived by wife of 53 years, Jean; sons, Kevin and Vince; sister, Pearl Ackerman and granddaughter, Amanda.

MENDEZ, Rella Mae, of Tampa, passed away Tuesday, March 25th. She was preceded in death by her son Russell Owen Mendez and her husband Joseph Mendez. Surviors include a daughter, Laura Coulam of Tampa, Fla.; three sons, Robert Wesley Mendez of Chicago, Ill.; James Clifford Mendez of Katy, Texas , George Edward Mendez of Bradenton, Fla.; twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Rella Mae was born in Hutchins, Texas on March 23, 1912. She came to Tampa in 1954 from Chicago, Ill. She and her husband Joseph owned and operated the Green Meadows Motel and the Sweetwater Radio and TV Repair on West Hillsborough Avenue until the mid 70's. She was a kind and loving mother and will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2003 with Pastor Ray Miller, Jr. officiating. Internment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hillsborough Christian Community Church, 5706 North Hesperides, Tampa, FL 33614.

MENENDEZ, Dennis, 58, of Bradenton, died Mar. 25, 2003. He is survived by daughter, Lorraine Diaz; son, Dennis; mother, Delia; sister, Vivian, and three grandchildren.

PACKWOOD, Mrs. Sara Catherine, 77 of Brandon,formerly of Ruskin, died March 26, 2003 at Brandon Regional Hospital. Born in Seffner, she moved to Ruskin in 1954. Mrs. Packwood was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roderick Packwood. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Annette (Robert) Trujillo of Shelby, N.C., Diane (Craig) Brethuer of Dunedin, Fla., and Alice (Robert) Smith of Winston-Salem, N.C.;five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Friday March 28, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Ruskin Memorial Park with Rev. David Looney officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 28, 2003 at 10 a.m. from St. Clement Catholic Church with Father Alfredo Monsalve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Hopewell Memorial Gardens. SCHIEFEN, Robert W. Monsignor, 81, was born on August 27, 1921 in Rochester, N.Y., to Gerald and Loyola Schiefen. He passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Mease Countryside Hospital. He attended St. Andrew and St. Bernard Seminaries in Rochester and was ordained for the Diocese of St. Augustine on October 18, 1946. He attended the Lateran University in Rome for post-graduate studies and earned a degree in Canon Law. He ministered in parishes throughout the state of Florida and for 17 years he served in the Archdiocese of Miami as Vice Chancellor, Chancellor and Vicar General. He was elevated to Monsignor in 1958 by Pope John XXIII. Monsignor Schiefen is the pastor of St. Isabel Parish on Sanibel Island. He retired from the Catholic Diocese of Venice. He is survived by sister, Arlene Foley of Tampa; nieces and nephews, Timothy Foley, Patricia Frank, Michael Foley, Bob Murray, Jim Murray, Gayle Murray, Michelle Schiefen and Christopher Schiefen; and sister-in-law, Maureen Schiefen of Clearwater. Visitation and wake will be Friday, March 28, 2003 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 12 Noon. All services will be at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, Fla.

SMITH, Aaron A. 87, of Valrico passed away March 24, 2003. He was preceded in death by Helen Smith his first wife of 44 years, and Rita Morehead-Smith his second wife of four years. Survivors include five children, George Smith, Mary Oliver, Bonnie Vozel, Carol Radwanski and Donna Kerbrat; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Aaron was born in Highland Park, Mich., in 1915; making Michigan their home until retirement, moving to FL in 1981. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Valrico on Saturday, March 29, at 10 a.m. and on May 24th at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Clawson, Mich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele St, Tampa, FL 33609.

TWYMAN, Karolina S., 90, of Clearwater, died Mar. 24, 2003. She is survived by two sons, Thomas and Chedister; two step-sons; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

WHITECAR, Robert A., 60, of Tampa passed away on Monday, March 24, 2003. He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Marion Whitecar; daughters, Robin Tara and husband Patrick, and Roxanne Tenorio and husband Luis; son, Robert Lee Whitecar and fiancee' Michelle; one brother, Terrence Whitecar and wife Linda; sisters, Danajean Durrance and husband Richard, and Linda K. Sandavol; and nine grandchildren. He worked at The Tampa Tribune for 30 years. He was a Masonic member, and member of Florida National Genealogy Society. He earned several degrees while attending college. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Temple Church of Temple Terrace, 8610 Temple Terrace Parkway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Lung Association.

WILLETT, Ronald Lee, 57, of Indian Rocks Beach, died Mar. 23, 2003. He is survived by a son, Tony; daughter, Monica Spiegel; two brothers, a step-sister and three grandchildren.
